I love when we hang out with my boyfriend's parents as we always have fun chatting and Paul's mom is an amazing cook who also does a number of demonstrations at Williams Sonoma! I love that when I hear her tell me how to make something it really is as simple as she makes it sound. For someone who runs around doing a lot, when I do get the chance to cook something it has to be easy and I want it to look like what the picture suggests.
I love Williams Sonoma when I was growing up in Indiana as I saw it as a place to get flatware, napkins etc but with his mom - I realized that this company is perfect for my style of cooking! I have made casseroles, lettuce wraps and more from many of their easy to cook meals that allow many items to be made in one pot! It's definitely a confidence builder! In addition, I love that they have a number of machines that do the work for you and love when she lets us know that she brought us a new machine that will become my new fave (although I'm not sure which I love more my Penguin which turns water into seltzer that I use throughout the day or my Vitamix)! So during one dinner she let me know about the Vitamix which makes smoothies, sauces, soups, desserts, coffee beverages and more! I was hooked and although the recipe book is thick, everything is super easy to make. We made a Whole Foods run yesterday as I am already in the mode of a huge health kick not so much because of resolutions but mostly because Fashion Week is a few days away and bikini season will be here before you know it.
Yesterday I made a strawberry smoothie for Paul and today I thought that I was going to make the Vitamix's Lemon Lime Basil-Ade but I realized that the one thing we forgot to get was basil so I switched to the Cherry Mint Limeade which contained soy milk, lime, mint leaves and frozen cherries. Since we were fresh out of soy milk I switched it for Non Fat Yogurt and as I'm not a fan on cherries in my drink (but I love eating them as a snack) - I opted for frozen strawberries so it was more of a Strawberry Mint Limeade. Above you will note that I pretty much lay everything out so that I am super organized. The recipe book guides you and generally whatever the list of ingredients are you simply place them in the machine in the order that it's written out. Then you select the "program" which could be Smoothies, Frozen Desserts, etc and press the Start menu. You don't have to decide how long it needs to be as its already programmed. So with a few ingredients, I had a tasty beverage and it was easy to swap one item for another (which I suggest that if you do this, you should swap for similar items). I loved the taste although it was tart but I loved it - perfect smoothie for a pick me up! Later this week I will tackle hummus and a few of the sauces which is a great way to spice up your meals.
