Sippin Saturdays ~ Coach's Holiday Blog a Day

Nov21

This week has been a busy week whether I was at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the launch of Same Sky or the Wired Store Launch Party - it was just a good week to be out and about, meet people that I have only know from online to IRL and to see my friends that I don't always get to see! It has been an amazing week. The kick off for my holiday season obviously started when I launched Kitten Lounge's Holiday Gift Guide on Nov 1st - Jan 15th! We are still adding great brands to this site so you'll see lots of goodies so continue to check back for ideas and events such as La Femme Fete's Shopping Event which is tonight .

Now another huge event is Coach's Holiday Blog a Day which kicked off yesterday with one of my favorite sites, The Coveted and today has Juicy Star 07 which is a super cute vlogger that I have recently been introduced to via this program. From now through Dec 19th you'll see a blog a day show how they have styled their Coach bags. I'm so honored that I know some fab bloggers who will be apart of this including myself (sorry had to do the self promotion) Kitten Lounge will be on Dec 9th and Jeaninne of Beauty Sweet Spot will be on Dec 18th and in case I forgot to mention, all of us are doing giveaways of the bags so stay tuned that's a lot of opportunities to try to not only win a bag but to add fab sites to your Google Reader! If you missed a day, no worries they have an archive and to my fellow bloggers and vloggers - I'm glad to share this space with you!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Grey Love

Nov20

I love playing with tones of grey it's a gorgeous color to pair with others or alone. I love Juicy Couture's Peyton boot which is a very dark grey and over the knee which is one of my favorite looks. Cole Haan's Prudence bag (I have it in Red is my favorite and this was one of the best presents that I could have received this year! When it comes to jewelry I say silver all the way and the pop of citrine is just enough to have a little flash. I love going to Madison Ave to head to Judith Ripka and her collection is so large that you're bound to find just what your looking for! Of course this look comes together with skinny jeans or leggings and I love that you can pair a white tee with a nice grey wrap which is perfect if you're out and about or going out to a nice dinner. Not only are these key pieces but Bluefly is known for having fab pieces that are always available for what you need!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Fab Five: Sky High Heels

Nov20

I love transitions! Throughout the next few weeks, you'll notice new topics on Kitten Lounge! Although our days will stay with the same themes, our concentration has slightly changed. On the days where we cover fashion, I always present complete looks that allow you to see how an outfit can be accessorized - in many ways it becomes a look book or guide that you can use. At the same time, I love the idea of creating ideas of key items that you should think about getting in your closet. These fall along the idea of trends whether we're talking next season or what should be in your closet this season! Going forward, our Fashionable Fridays will now include Fab Five. The Fab Five are the top pics of items that I believe you should know about and even if you don't get the exact pair, the body should be something that you should think about within your favorite brand!

I think a boot is essential for this weather and now with boot styles that incorporate cutouts, these can be worn whether you're in NYC or visiting friends in South Beach! My top three boot picks include Alexander McQueen's Grommet boot (perfect when you're look needs to have more of an aged or rocker look with edge), Dsquared2 Spectator Bootie (probably not good for our chilly NYC days; however, I love the old world style that is brought into today's look) and finally Vivienne Westwood's Roman Boot (the red color is so delicious and being a girl that loves hardware - this is a must even with the peep toe - I love this pair).

Now when it comes to heels you have two choices (of course this is assuming that you already have a fab black pair and a cute tortoise shell pair as well) a pump that has pops of color and one that is an alternative strappy one. The pair by Guiseppe Zanotti has bold stripes and would be perfect t wear with a pair of jeans and a neutral color top. Maybe you and your girls are flying down to South Beach to get away from the chills of NYC - this pair will get you in a Sunshine State of Mind. Of course if it's a night out, you may want to consider Cesare Paciotti's heels which bring the inner golden goddess out of all those that wear them.

Five pairs of shoes that work for various occassions! Each one will not only work for this season but can carry you into future ones as well! Take some time to check out what pieces you want to bring in and let me know what you'd like to see on next week's Fab Five!

Trendy Thursdays: Project Detox ~ Road Trippin'

Nov19

In an ongoing series, Keren Weinstein, our Guest Life-Balance Editor, took a much needed trip. More than the need to go on vacation to a new locale, she wanted to find her own sense of balance and thus Project Detox began. Last week, we jumped on a horse and went happy trailing. Today, Keren shows us that a little road trip is all we need to continue to reconnect.

We all live in different locales. Different speeds. We do different things.

Have a different purpose.

Different lives.

But no matter what kind of life we live, it needs to be balanced.

The ‘balancing cocktail’ required to reach that equilibrium is different for each of us.

For some, a trip to a big city like NY or Tokyo may be what they need.

For this full time working urban mom, the prescription for ‘road to equilibrium’ sounds more like….

Take an all American road trip through California Coast with a great friend and call me in the morning!

A bit of a travel snob, I don’t normally embark on road trips as my choice of vacation. Usually, I fly (direct) to my destination and have researched and received recommendations on what to do, see, experience, buy, eat, sleep before I even step foot on the plane. I don’t miss a beat. Or do I?

There is something about road trips that gives you a sense of care-free exploration. Of appreciating the journey not just the destination. Of really traveling.

I can recall that feeling when I road tripped through the West Coast with my best friend and her family as a teen.

It was now time to reignite that engine.

I have been blessed with meeting and having so many amazing people in my life.

And thanks to eM, FB, t, SMS, MMS, BB, LinkedIn, etc. I get to keep in touch in lieu of my busy lifestyle. But, a very important part of ‘the balanced life’ (and remaining true to myself), is spending quality in-person time with my family & friends.

The next few days, was going to be about the benefits of friendship. And roadship.

We knew overall where we were heading but drove where the wind took us.

Have a plan and go with the flow.

A motto I swear by.

If you want to get somewhere in life (or in a given day) you need to have a plan. An intention.
But, it’s the plans that move with the current that survive and thrive daily tides and storms.

You need to Surf. Cruise. And breathe through life’s changes all while remembering to still have fun. Life is colorful. Not just black and white lists of to do’s.

The coastal fresh air. The amazing landscapes. The speed. The maps. The music. The picture pull-overs. The lavender farm pit stops. The conversation. The shared quiet. The freedom. The nostalgia.

The fun.

Who knew I would actually [still] be driving on a Journey through Myself?!

At one point, driving on the road with great music along the stunning backdrop of hilly landscape, it felt like we were in one of those car commercials. Turns out. ‘We were’.

We have reached San Luis Obispo County which is known to be the location for filming many of our national car commercials.

Considered one of the best stops for ‘Pure California’ between San Francisco and L.A., San Louis Obispo (SLO) was a perfect way to stray off course. And with the vineyards a few miles away the weather was grape perfect. The locals refer to it as SLO (to imply the ‘slow alternative to the hectic life’). It's a ‘natural escape where slowing down to enjoy the good life is the essence’. One might say I didn't stray off course, I was finally on the right course.

Surrounded by rolling hills as if suspended in the middle of nowhere was the historic mission town of SLO. A small almost European village-like town. Quaint. Vibrant and colorful. Relaxed and laid back. Energized. Playful. Almost caracature’ish. Definitely surreal. Happy.

This travel pit stop, I did not research in advance. I was going to explore on my own. Enjoy in a different way. Raw.

I walked the pristine streets and found myself in a shopping heaven. Adorable high-end boutiques and antique shops that were charming and unpretentious. (I later found out Lucky Magazine calls SLO it “Sprinkled with charmingly unpretentious shops”. Right on Lucky! )

Excellent places to dine, go wine tasting, grab cocktails, coffee or frozen yogurt. Many of them boasting local wine, cheese, produce, olive oil, fish. It was fresh and colorful and healthy and delish. It is no wonder the first Jamba Juice location began in SLO. They aren’t slow at all in knowing what is good for you.

After stumbling upon the colorful, quirky & famed Bubble Gum Alley and taking a trip back in time at Powell’s Sweet Shop, I felt like a kid seeing Willy Wonka ’s factory for the first time. The vintage candy. The sweet smell. The colors. The excitement. “What we really offer are memories. We want to walk our customers down memory lane and remind them of good things and good times.” Mr. Powell wanted me to find that core childlike happiness.

A killer song by The Police lead this 80’s child into a small café. In the back, I discovered a beautiful outdoor garden. Full of color. Crisp. Picture perfect.

I sat sipping my tea and with a journal in hand.

I was in the moment living the SLO life. I was in a happy place.

Now this is road trippin.

Start your engines.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Easy Peasy

Nov18

Today has been a hectic day but in the evenings I'm starting to go to dinners, birthday parties, holiday events and more. So even though the day is spent with me just keeping up with everything, I like the ability to go out to look like a million bucks. My outfits are always simple and of course, I love to pile on the accessories! Today, we're focuing on Free People's one shoulder dress which you can wear as a dress or with leggings if you're so inclined. Nothing is better (at least for me) than to have a solid color and then to pop in one of my favorite skins - python to add a little texture and to make the whole look pop! Whether you have a pair of python slingbacks or this super cute clutch that also serves as a bracelet, you're all set. To add a little more glam, Hello Kitty is not only adorable but decadent in Citrine and a Cameo - you can't get any classier than this is the perfect ring! You'll shine for all of your events while being completely comfortable!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Diva Living Day & Night

Nov17

My favorite look when I’m running around is a tank/tee and jeans – now that I’m obsessed with leggings, you can add that to my core look. When it starts to get chilly, you’re bound to see me in a scarf or a cute wrap of some sort. Of course, I’m never without my accessories as I think you can never really have too many and as much as I like to embrace color – I truly love mixing black, grey and denim. So today’s look brings in the sequin top (I used to be very against sequins and look at me it’s a tank - love the racer back tank and a beret which I’m all about). The wrap is amazing I love the fact that you can have something to know the chill off, that it’s angled and it flows. The leggings have a denim look so that’s the best of both worlds and a dream to travel in.

The other day, I shot a video for Chicology and we went to Fenton & Fallon and I fell in love with their mixed media jewelry so I definitely love popping in this edgy look with this femme look. The onyx ring is large and bold – you know I love this and I have to say that the shoes are absolutely fab! The cuff works well and you can never go wrong with a bootie. Whenever you opt to take off the wrap, you have this great chunky/layered cuff which really elongates the arm. Day to night your set and looking super glam!

Mingling Mondays ~ Day x Night

Nov16

I love when I present segments of items that can be worn during the day and then work straight into the night. When it comes to cute dresses that are femme and waiting to get dressed up, Anthropologie is a great go to store! Not only is it fun to shop in the store or online, but they have a lot of to choose from. I love this Abydos dress which reminds me of something that has a bit of an Egyptian look. I love the sash and that it seems like such an easy dress. When paired with this gorgeous bronze cuff you're half way to being completely accessorized! Of course you can always add a little more. The Swarovski Crystals have an elegant style that creates a great silhouette against your neck and the heels - this pair from DSquared2 is absolutely stunning. I love the pops of gold and the natural element to this shoe as well. You can go from day to night whether you're heading off to a cocktail party or simply going out with your significant other!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Warm From the Inside

Nov15

It's chilly out there and when it isn't chilly, the rain tries to keep you indoors. When this happens and I know I plan on getting work done, I love sipping tea throughout the day. I like to have the biggest cup possible and to sample various blends. No sugar is needed as I'm a fan of honey! When it comes to getting the perfect tea setup, make sure that you have some of your favorite cups, continue to buy various tea blends of interest, get a great tea pot and of course find some honey. These are items that will get you through chilly days and nights and this also makes a great gift for the holidays, housewarmings and more. Take some time to click around to have your cupboards stocked!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Dress For The Winter

Nov14

Yes the Noreaster has hit the east coast. How chilly was it yesterday. I have to get a lot of motivation going just to leave my house when it comes to going out for fun! One of the things that I hate about the winter is that I don't want to feel like I have to sacrifice my style for warmth! This winter I'm thinking of cute sweaters (those who know me know that I am not a fan of this portion of my wardrobe as a rule) but I do love American Eagle's Thermal Collar Shirt. I think this is perfect for staying warm and you can showcase a cute necklace! Juicy Couture's necklace is full of drama and it can peek out from your shirt. I'm a fan of boots and I'm obsessed with these thigh high Stella McCartney boots! Now when you're running around you're all set whether your hanging out with friends at an apartment, meeting up for lunch or whatever happens to you when you end up leaving your own home! Finally, you have to have the perfect skinny jean and this pair from Arden B is an essential for the weekend when you're going for a relaxed look. Take some time to think about how you'll dress on these chilly weekends!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Emerald City Style

Nov13

I'm obsessed with Wizard of Oz and in thinking of how much I love the movie, I decided that I had to style Stella McCartney's Button Shoulder Dress. I love the tie, the button detail and so much more. With a dress like this, you don't really need to do a lot in terms of accessories; however, you know me - it's a crime not have a little bling. So pair your Emerald City look with this fab cuff which is a little yellow brick road and this gorgeous Cabochon Citrine Ring! Of course the perfect way to top off this entire look is with Stella's fragrance which not only smells amazing but is fabulous to hold. This is perfect for a dinner out or simply when you feel like dressing up!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Beauty Musts To Have & To Hold

Nov12

Whether your stingy, able to share or your thinking gifting - you can never go wrong with a Beauty Bundle. Beauty Bundles is a term that means beauty gift sets (or at least to me). If I love a brand I like having more than just one of something and even if a few shades may not work for me, then you can place them in a gift for someone else. You're not only passing on the gift of beauty and good taste but it's just good Girlonomics! Whether this means that it goes in as a stocking stuffer or becomes a thank you when you're staying with one of your girfriends half way across the country (I'm know as the person who when packing, I pack up a lot of product that I'm sent to my friend who I'm staying with during a trip).

Today's goodies are brands that I could not go without! You know that I'm super passionate about Purple Lab's Huge Lips, Skinny Hips gloss as my lips stay super moisturized and the smell is so yummie - you feel like a glamazon just applying it!. I became obsessed this time last year with the 24/7 Eyeliner from Urban Decay. My eyes are ALWAYS lined with their Kohl color. If I happen to go to a Sephora and they have run out of that color, I will stalk every Sephora in the city to get it! Nars Cosmetics is another passion that I have for almost 2 years! I love their body polish which keeps me glowing, their eyeshadows, gloss and more but I also love their nail colors as well. Any shade that has a pop of vixen in it, I'm all over it. Finally, when it comes to Sephora, I could spend all my hours in there with so many brands to play with. In addition, I love their private line as well. Many times when I'm unsure of a color I start with their brand as they have so many colors!

Whatever your reason, buying a few things here and there and having multiples is an awesome way to build your beauty cases or massive trunks - whichever way you organize it! Start thinking about gifting yourself and others this holiday season!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Sealed With a Kiss

Nov11

We're all about fashion and always helping you plan fun things but today we take a moment to thank those who risk their lives to ensure that we can go about our day with no worries. With all the things that our nations service men and women do, I hope that you think about their sacrifice and if you have the ability to do something, you should without a doubt on Veteran's Day!

Today, for those that are in NYC, I hope you join Cosmopolitan Magazine, Maybelline and the USO (United Services Organizations) with Cosmo's Kisses for the Troops! Today, Cosmo's Kisses for the Troops Van will be at various spots in NYC collecting kisses Uniformed officers will be on hand where you can kiss a postcard that will be delivered to serviceman overseas. For every postcard kisses, Cosmo and Maybelline will donate a $1! For those that give their kisses between 7am - 7pm, you can assist towards the Guiness World Records for the most lip prints collected in 12 hours! You can find out more information here and if you're looking to participate but you won't be in the area check out how you can be involved!

Treausre Tuesdays ~ A Dress For All Seasons

Nov10

A classic dress is an essential to any wardrobe regardless of your style. When it comes to the It dress that everyone should have, I urge everyone to think about getting the classic wrap dress from Diane Von Furstenberg. It never goes out of style and it doesn't take a lot to add to it whether you're going out for drinks, heading to work etc! Of course being someone who loves accessories, you know that I can't leave you without adding a few gems! First of all make sure to have a cute heel (check my Jimmy Choo's would be perfect for this) and then think about your cute hand bag whether you opt for a clutch, hobo, etc. Finally, jewelry is always an essential. Now Nicole Ritchie has been a part of a lot of fashionable collaborations but her jewelry line, House of Harlow, is such a great boho chic line. Now what I love about this is that she is actually about to make pieces exclusively for Bebe and will be available on their site and in stores by the end of the week!

I love that although this jewelry is super cute, they're best when separated to add a little more oomph to your outfit which is perfect to mix and match everything! I love the pattern and love the tribal elements of the pieces which adds a great flavor to the classic wrap dress! Take some time to think about classic elements that you should be adding to your closet while making sure your accessories allow us to know more about your personality!

Mingling Mondays ~ Dressing for Flip Flop Weather

Nov09

Um I didn’t get the memo that we were going to have reasonable weather! The funny part is my winter coat has made an appearance already and we’re supposed to be in the fall. The good thing about this weather is that you can layer up and look appropriate when the weather is changing every second. When it comes to one of my favorite looks, I love the low neckline fitted sweater, paired with skinny jeans or a nice flair (you'll also want to make sure that you have various cuts and washes as this is a fun way to change up your look), ankle boots and of course – lots of accessories. As much as I love the over the knee boot, there is something to be said for wearing the little booties as well! This is such a great look when you’re at the office, going to Starbucks or doing whatever you need to do as you begin to tackle your Mon! Take some time to look at the pieces above and to begin to add them into your closet (note the cute lace tank that’s under this sweater) – such a sweet look and very chic!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Women in Need

Nov08

Since 1983, Women in Need has assisted homeless families by ensuring that they have housing. Last week a group of bloggers were brought in to preview homes that were made by various notables for the Home for the Holidays Campaign within the fashion and entertainment industries including Vera Wang, Isaac Mizrahi, Sean Combs, Debra Messing and more. Once these homes were unveiled here, they were placed within Saks windows here in NYC from Nov 5th - Nov 9th (if you're in the area today and looking to see them in person, definitely check it out) to be auctioned in order to assist the organization to continue working with families not only as a means to have a place to live but to move forward with their goals for the future through stable housing, education and more.

The depth of the program and the continuing services that WIN provides is astounding. From the beginning of being included within the program to the point where many families receive transitional or permanent residences, they can receive valuable information on employment training/placement, HIV/AIDS prevention, domestic violence prevention and more. Learn more about the organization and how you can help by visiting Charity Buzz, you can see the houses that were made and also put in a bid for one of the houses as well. Above is a video from the CEO and Founder Bonnie Stone, and a few designers that participated in this project!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Henri Bendel's Is Either A Step or Click Away

Nov07

Hey guys, if you see me outside today, I'm taping a show that will be apart of one of the new projects that I'm apart of as the Fashion Editor of Chicology (you can also follow us on @chicologist - so it'll be fun. If you can and you don't mind battling the cold, check out Henri Bendel's Friends and Family sale that started on Thurs and will go through Sun! If you're here in the city, try to take a peek. It's one of my favorite stores and a great way to begin thinking about what you want to do for your holiday gifting (of course you can always check out our Holiday Gift Guide and learn more about our Coach Holiday Blog - A - Day partnership that will take place Dec 9th!)

Fashionable Fridays ~ Take a Peek at Charlotte Russe This Holiday Season

Nov06

Earlier this summer, I told you guys about a party that I had attended that launched new collaborations and styles that Charlotte Russe had incorporated into their collections. We are all familiar with Charlotte Russe; however, that night I could see that they had stepped into a new direction. In fact, one of the items in my goodie bag has made appearances at various events and girl's nights out as well (I love the bib necklace and the cuff that goes with it)!

This week I went to their Editor's preview and saw various accessories and outfits that will hit the stores of CR later on this month through Feb! When it comes to adding sparkle and bling there are plenty of dresses and tops that can be paired over leggings. There are quite a few cute options for footwear and the pieces are truly versatile. Above is a video of some of their key looks that you'll definitely want to pick up for later!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Project Detox: Happy Trailing

Nov05

In an ongoing series, Keren Weinstein, our Guest Life-Balance Editor, took a much needed trip. More than the need to go on vacation to a new locale, she wanted to find her own sense of balance and thus Project Detox began. Last week, we embraced our inner ink. Today, Keren shows us a life in paradox in the hills of L.A..

Balance.

As a true Libran, it is what sits at the core of my being. And as an urban full time working mom it is something I stru[j]uggle to maintain.

This Air sign has been knocked off the balance beam by Fire one too many times and was calling in her troops.
In the arid Sanoran desert, I ‘detoxed’ the stresses & toxins from my busy lifestyle. Unclogged the areas within Me that needed attention. Reconnected.

Completely cleansed, rejuvenated, relaxed, mindful, and open, it was now time for me to re-visit a [new] terrain and get energized. Create movement. Re-awaken.

Experience: Air. Water. Earth. (& Fun!).

Get inspired.

Once I put it out there and my intention was set, the Las Angeles Magazine Issue (shown above amongst pictures from my hikes on the coast of the PCH) seemed to fall into my lap.

There it was!

My next step in this Journey.

I had to be the woman on the cover.

And, remember, I have a producer / leading actress credit in my own movie [titled Horse Power], and a new Inner Ink tattoo, so I am Hollywood.

With my L.A. Magazine in hand, I set out for the hills of California.

I have learned in Arizona that through the lenses things/people/places/issues can look different depending on the day, lighting, etc. Although I have been to L.A. many times, I am now here for a different purpose. I am in a different light.

The Editor of L.A. Magazine in her ‘Walkabout’ article captured how balanced L.A. is. A paradox of living. Even though it is known to be one of the most densely populated (2nd to yours truly) metropolitan area in the U.S., where blackberry’s & bumper-to-bumper traffic is the norm, it also harbors more wilderness than any other metropolitan area in the country. Allowing for mini-escapes and outdoor places to exercise and reconnect with nature. With yourself.

With great weather and ecology, ‘L.A. life outdoors’ is embedded into their daily lives. It is part of their culture. Their DNA. When you are in L.A. you see it clearly, but if you have not been, think Sex and the City/Gossip Girl verse Entourage/90210.

There are so many hikes with different terrains & difficulty level. Secluded and full of nature to asphalt pathways that are pet, stroller and bike friendly. Views of the city, ocean, wilderness, desert, hills, trees, cacti and/or stunning homes.

I hiked through many of these trails. Some were a serious workout. Some were seriously moving and memorable.

The biggest takeaway from hiking through L.A. was the inspiration it gave me for living a balanced, relaxed and healthy life.

As a mom, I was mostly inspired by a friend I met on the trail at Runyon Canyon in Hollywood. The wife of a famed producer, and mom of four, she is quite busy. Hiking with all of her kids (which they do daily!) is their time to connect. Ironically, they were relocating to NY for a film and although were excited for the increase in culture (and all the other fabulous reason we <3 NY) they were struggling with the idea of how to continue to live the healthy-outdoor-balanced lifestyle as a family.

The hike that was most memorable (& fun) was the one where I got to be that hiker in the L.A. Magazine cover. It all began with surfing at Malibu beach. The breeze and fresh air from the ocean. We then began a light hike from Westward beach (coast of Zuma beach). Enjoying the sweeping views of the coast atop Point Dume. We then decent to the beach and after enjoying quiet moments listening to the waves crash against the rocks, we jog the stretch of beach to the Paradise Cove restaurant for lunch and cocktails with friends. Yum.

Looking around me. We were not the only ones. This was the norm for couples, athletes, teens, and families alike. This was the L.A. paradox. And I loved it.

From dusk till dawn. I was happy trailing.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Disney's Princess & The Frog & Carol's Daughter

Nov05

We don't always have a lot of items for children on here but when we do, you know it's big (or that we have the Holiday Gift Guide!). As I sat in the theater watching previews prior to Michael Jackson's 'This is It', I was reminded that Disney's Princess and the Frog is coming out soon! I love Disney cartoons and am very fond of the princess series. A few months ago, I read in WWD that Carol's Daughter had received the license for a line of hair care products! So if you haven't seen it for yourself, take a peek and pre-order if you can as it is being offered as a limited edition! You can buy the Magical Beauty Collection as a set or items individually (shampoo, hair detangler, conditioner and bubble bath)!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ A Love Affair With Cupcakes

Nov04

As we battled dipping temperatures, last night in the Dubai Mall ice rink, Aiisha Ramadan (who we absolutely love) and Victoria Casal Jewelry had a 'Love Affair' fashion show that was held yesterday with attendees receiving cupcakes from Sweet Stuff based in Jumeira! Not only is this a great way to enhance the theme of the overall show but it was also a tasty way to end the event as well!

The show began with ice skater Natash Alexander Kemble cane out to a rendition of Nessun Dorma by opera tenor Andrew Amdur. Each dress from Aiisha was paired with Victoria Casal's jewelry and Manolo Blahnik shoes. No two sets of accessories were the same which created a dynamic look for everyone involved. This was a show that I truly wanted to attend and with such artistic drama, I hope to be able to come to the next. We have covered Aiisha's pieces as a gallery post and as a spread. Today's gallery of images (you know that we haven't done this in awhile so when we do, it's definitely a treat) are full of feminine whimsy and for those that will be in Dubai, you should visit the Sweet Stuff store as the cupcake (light and fluffy chocolate spongecake with icing made out of a unique butter cream and iced in a feminine, floral motif, topped with sprinkles) that everyone enjoyed last night will be sold for the next month!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ From Office To Night

Nov03

We're in the holidays! This is the time of year where we have to really think about maximizing our outfits as we may be at work all day and don't have time to change into or buy something else to go out after work! I love to keep things simple and then to change it up with fab accessories! Trina Turk is one of my favorite designers - yes I'm a fan of hewr swimwear but when it comes to cute outfits to do business in, she has you covered there as well. Who doesn't like the classic sheath dress with an embellishment to give your outfit some character?

Of course, I'm all about the lariat wne this piece which is availabel at Max & Chloe is enough to make your outfit stand out without looking like you went over the top by putting on a bit too much (sometimes when you have embellishments that aren't balanced, you don't want to confuse the eye on where to look! This ring at Topshop is so cute! Does anyone remember Clash of the Titans - I had watched a million times at home and we had to watch it in Middle School - this ring is spot on with the little owl Bubo (They're doing a remake of this and it'll be out next year). To complete this look, how about this Flower Bracelet from Kima Zabete? There are a lot of natural elements within this look overall which is perfect for the fall and yet you look amazing at the same time! As always, the links above can be clicked on!

Mingling Mondays ~ Kitten Lounge's Holiday Gift Guide

Nov02

Kitten Lounge's Holiday Gift Guide launched yesterday and we will continue to have additional brands included over the next few weeks as this will be up through Jan 15th of 2010! Of course our spread includes just a few of the goodies that are on the site including Ted Rossi, Purple Lab NYC and our sponsor, Tasty Morsels Bakery! Continue to check back as we will not only have additional items but this is a great way to begin thinking about what gifts you can get to cross it off your list! Not only is this a guide that focuses on gifting but it includes events as well that you'll want to know more about as well as restaurants and information for New Years Eve!

We're in our 3rd year of this guide and we also have a fun component known as the 25 Days of Holiday Glam. This segment kicks of Dec 1st through Dec 25th. There will be giveaways each of these days that you can win and is a way to not only introduce you to a fab brand and item but to also say thank you as well! This will be apart of the Holiday Gift Guide and also as a separate post within the main site. Although both of these items have been apart of the Holiday Gift Guide, we're adding in something new. We will include 12 Stars on the Horizon. These are individuals that work in the fashion industry (or are associated) that are either establihed or emerging people that you will want to know about. They work in the industry and defintiely deserve to be recognized as they do amazing work which you may need for future use! This will kick off Dec 20th and run through New Years Eve as a countdown of sorts!

Mingling Mondays ~ The Story of Food

Nov02

Tomorrow one of the movies that Food Editor of this site, Paul Belobritsky, has been anticipating is being released on DVD. Food Inc tackles various issues within the movie including the importance of organic and locally grown food, foodbourne illnesses, diabetes and obesity, working towards putting nutritional labels on foods found in restaurants, factory farming, genetic engineering, pesticides, farm worker protection, environmental impact, cloning and the global food crisis. It's a lot of issues placed in one film and yet in many cases these are issues that your familiar with and in the end is definitely education and makes you question your food, how you get and the long term effects it has on your body!

Paul and I enjoy eating from restaurants whose menus have organic and locally grown foods. We also enjoy farmer's markets and get excited when we see one! Although these issues were important to me as I have been focusing on them, this movie let me think more about the impact of the global food crisis. Although I don't have children, I have always been a proponent of having healthy alternatives in schools when it comes to replacing sodas with water, soy, etc. In addition, I enjoyed attending a highschool that had salad bars and healthy alternatives. This should be something that is available everywhere (don't even get me started on traveling - some airports have great alternatives while others miss the mark).

Much like King Corn, this movie shows how corn has become the sneaky food that many people ingest in high levels and that it permeates our food by being placed in various forms and fed to cows. This not only increases the obesity but places items within our diet that we don't need to have. Coming from Indiana, I know that many farms were decreasing in terms of the "mom and pop" lots and were becoming corporate/government entities which of course encourages me to support locals as much as possible. If you're looking to understand more about where your food comes from and the effects that it has on you, this is the movie for you! We all need to think about the steps we can take upon examining our intake and to ensure that we are beeing nourished in the right way - education is the first step. Also visit Food Inc's site to learn a lot more about issues and actions that are being raised and implemented.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Get Your Card On

Nov01

Happy November! I hope everyone had an amazing time last night whether you were in costume or not. Today marks one of the initial benchmarks of the holiday season. I know we all send a million emails and we use Social Media but I feel that when it comes to Birthday Cards and Holiday Cards, you need to make it from you. This means that I go to my favorite card store Papyrus and I spend a bit finding the best cards possible! I love making sure that I write something personal to each one! My selection incorporates Christmas, Chanukah and Holiday cards. Above are some of my favorite selections and you can get them online if you don't have the option to go to one of the stores.

Start early by finding your perfect cards. During the summer/early fall I like to write out my entire list of people who will receive a card. This way I know how many people I need to get a card for and how many types of cards I need to get. As I continue to meet people once I have a list, I make sure to add it to my list. What I love about Papyrus (especially if you have one of the stores in your town), you can walk by their windows and see what sales they have. Many times, they have a "Buy 2 Boxed Cards and Get a Third Free". Deals like this will help you out. When possible, I deliver cards by hand; however, many times I start sending them at the end of Nov to ensure that the cards have been sent out - it's a process but one that will make you feel amazing and the added benefit - getting a card in return!

Sippin Saturdays ~ A Night at SOBs

Oct31

You never know where the night will take you and last week I found myself heading to SOB's to see Jason, a trombone player, play with his band, King Chango - a Latin ska band. Now if you're not familiar with SOB's this is a place where many bands have obtained their start and it's a great venue to see acts that we're all aware of whether it's Vivian Greene, Raheem and more. I have always loved coming here and since it had been awhile, I was excited to see if I still loved it! It was such an amazing night and the band had an amazing energy which you can see above!
