Earlier this week, we introduced Kitten Lounge U which is our way of showing fun items that are great to wear on campus as well as outside of it. They're not age specific looks and can be worked into a number of styles. For those of you that are new to Kitten Lounge, Thursday we talk about beauty and this post is specifically for our college readers! Now many of you know that we kicked off fitness earlier this summer as apart of my press trip to Miami as I did Deadline Fitness from Gina Lombardi! Now the event has passed; however, you'll still hear of tips from Gina as we truly believe that fitness is a lifestyle. Although we had a hiatus, we are back with Transitionally Fit and right now our focus over the next month is David Barton Gym! I just became a member of the Astor place location but they have a few in the city as well as in other locations! You'll hear about my time there and also about the environment. Previously, I was a member of NYSC and not to say that it's not a nice a gym, but it's a place to go to get a workout and I find it to be functional.
As soon as I walked into this gym I was shocked I really don't know what to say about the style but it has a mix of a Carnival seductive vibe to it. There are a lot of sexy components to the gym and there is always something to look at. I love the fact that there is lower lighting as it's not comfortable for me to exercise in bright areas. In addition, I love that they have a DJ booth where he/she spins in a disco ball - very cool. With tons of equipment room, there's always a machine available. I also love that due to its location on Astor Place, you have amazing views as you look out. I'm really excited to get some exercise time in at this location and to try out their yoga room which looked so zen as there were candles everywhere! Stay tuned throughout the month of Sept on the updates about this facility.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ His Style Wall Street Dressed Down

First off, happy September and what better way to welcome in the fall then to start with fab looks for men! Although I am the last person that you'd expect to be in a power suit (a la Dynasty), I love the look of the Wall Street guy and am super excited about the movie Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps (loved the first one and Michael Douglas is definitely one of my faves right up there with Sean Connery and Richard Gere). There is something to be said for tailored suits, fab leather shoes, ties and don't even get me started on pinstripes! But when you're not in the office, you can't go from Wall Street to frat boy, there has to be a happy medium. Thankfully, Jack Robie has you set as they have the fab suits that you'd expect to see dreamy Wall Street types wear while also having components that can be dressed down. The line was created by none other that two former Wall Street guys who decided that they wanted to bring a little style to the everyday. The image above is from the Jack Robie photoshoot which is a great look; however, if I was brunching with Mr Wall Street - I'd love to see him a little more casual. The woven shirts come in a variety of looks but as we're getting closer to the fall - who doesn't want to rock a little plaid? Done this way, the plaid is sophisticated, crisp and fun.
I love the driving shoes by Sebago which are super easy to slip on and are perfect for a bite to eat at Paris Commune and then for an afternoon of finding Christian Louboutin's for me. The jeans in the image are perfect, I love that look but complete it with a fab watch. I think a watch (although I never wear one) is an essential component when it comes to a man's accessory. A guy says a lot in his shoes as well as what he rocks on his wrist. I love watches that have a lot of definition and complexity as it says quite a bit about the person wearing it. Together this look works with a number of casual affairs and guarantees that you're ready for whatever the day will bring.

Can you believe that tomorrow is Sept - I can't believe it which means next month is Oct and we're almost in the holiday season. Before I get ahead of myself, let's close out Aug with focusing on looks in your closet. What I love most about Fall is the fact that you can play with layers which is always fun. I'm definitely going to be rocking skinny jeans and leggings, a long tank or 3/4 sleeve top and a long cardigan or blazer. What I love about this look is that it looks fab with a pair of heels, booties or riding boots! In addition, you can play with cuffs, necklaces of various lengths and more. You can rock a belt, the possibilities are endless. This is a basic idea but where you go with it and what accessories you throw in are only going to enhance what it is about you that you want to share with others. Many of these pieces are just great core basics that you should have in your closet anyway! Think about ways of taking simple items and jazzing it up whether you're going to the office, having a meeting or hanging out with friends later!

Oh Kittens how excited am I? Later on today I am going to meet none other than the amazing and gorgeous Nigel Barker! Not only is he a phenomenal photographer but if you've watched America's Next Top Model, then you have seen him there as well! He will be apart of a fun photoshoot taking place in the Meat Packing District with 40 top models in conjunction with Nine West, who is raising funds and awareness for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer! Nigel Barker will host a LIVE photo shoot with such models as Coco Rocha, Jessica White, Michelle Alves and more. You can see the shoot as it will be streamed on Nine West's Facebook Page at at Modelina as well! I'll be there tweeting and you can follow along by following Nine West's Twitter page.

Mingling Mondays ~ Emmy Glitz & Glamour
Aug30The Red Carpet Show on E! is my favorite to watch when it comes to seeing the stars. I love hearing the interaction and you never know what happens when the camera rolls and they hit the carpet. I can't wait to hear what Joan and the Fashion Police say this year about the looks that we saw last night. I have to say that yet again I'm disappointed that more accessories were not on the carpet, They were either non existent or underwhelming overall. There were times that it seemed that all the attention was placed on the dresses and the jewelry was added after the fact. As I was chatting back and forth on Twitter many of us shared the same sentiment and thanks to @JuleReDesigns and @JewelryInsider, who fun to chat with about this and you can catch up on the comments by searching the hashtag #emmyjewelry so you can catch up on those comments!
Glamour is all about the entire package, fab dresses, amazing cuts, fabulous shoes and yes earrings, necklaces, etc. But fortunately there were standouts that made it into the roundup of what definitely gets the Kitten Lounge approval. I love the fact that navy dominated the carpet, that many dresses were Greco-Roman inspired (this is a huge trend that you will also see for the holiday season so if you're wondering what would be great to wear for your holiday parties this is it) and of course going back to blush and white was also prevalent. The other highlight of the night was seeing the Calvin Klein Envy commercial with Zoe Saldana, I absolutely loved this commercial!

Mingling Mondays ~ Introducing Kitten Lounge U.

I graduated from Indiana University 8 years ago - it seems like forever ago but it's times when people ask what I do or try to guess my age (31 in 2 weeks) that they ask if I went to school to do what I do now. Although one of my majors was Telecommunications with a focus in New Media (social media), I didn't do anything in fashion but I grew up in this environment and always had my own sense of style. In fact, my way of dressing in college set up the way that I enjoy dressing now - casual, comfortable and well versed pieces that can go from a variety of situations with dynamic accessories. I came into my own sense of style when I was finally able to buy my own clothes, figure out the jeans that worked best for me (I never really wore jeans until then), my hemlines came up etc. I learned to incorporate many of the classic components of my style via my mom, into my look. So what you see today is a mix of what I grew up with (love of plaid, certain preppy elements, blazers, etc), with my love of casual and easy and once I got to NYC - adding the glam factor to create my nuvo glam look. Of course I enjoyed some items of collegiate fashion that sometimes are best left for campus (never wore my jammies to class but I had oversized sweatshirts that I wore during finals).
I am introducing a segment that is incorporated into our Monday posts on Kitten Lounge called, Kitten U. These are styles that are perfect to wear on campus when you're heading to class and yet - you can go out with friends, have items when your parents visit or wherever you happen to go. The beauty of this feature is that we're also going to highlight great style that's around campuses around the country. The fashions that are presented here are also fab for those that are not on college so you can get in on the fun too! I'm obsessed with this sweatshirt as it has a great fit (happened to see this in Bebe and couldn't believe how cute it was) but on the back it has the slashed effect that is sexy and casual. This can be paired with jeans, leggings, cute shorts etc. It's fun to grab food across the quad and also to go out in as well. Snazzy Sundays: Dinner at Morton's Steakhouse
Aug29I love restaurant reviews and although they are typically on Mondays, they are officially moving to Sundays! On Sundays you'll be able to find home decor, travel and food/wine posts here as it helps you plan were you'd like to go during the week! Earlier this week we headed over to Morton's Steakhouse at 551 5th Ave. The video above is the amazing Prime Ocean Platter for 2 which has lobster, large shrimp, oysters, King Crab, etc. The platter was overflowing with fish and it was more than enough for us! But backing up, Morton's Steakhouse is something that I'm very familiar with. Growing up in Indiana, I used to go to Chicago and would eat there on my visits. It reminds me of the classic steakhouses that I grew up with in the midwest while having an upscale setting to enjoy your dinner. This location, which is on 45th street between 5th and 6th ave was quite large. There was an upstairs dining area, the bar which was very roomy, the main dining area and they also had 3 private rooms. The lighting was soft and this location had a great mix of those that were heading to the theater at 8, holding a business dinner and even tourists. Immediately, we felt that this was a cozy environment.
The first thing that you notice throughout the entire meal is that although you have a designated server, you are supported by the entire staff that's there. If someone who wasn't your main server took an order or gave you something that you asked for, the next person wouldn't ask if you received something. In addition, with a full staff on the floor, you never felt that you were being watched to the point of being uncomfortable. I think that's an important balance to strike and they did that perfectly.
I rarely drink red wine unless I'm eating steak which I normally don't; however, this is what Morton's is known for so as we sipped our wine we looked at various options. I loved that when the bread came to the table, we asked if they could cut it and without a pause not only did they do so (away from the table) but our server said that people many times liked to do it themselves but it wasn't a problem - perfect. When they go through the menu, which you have a few minutes to look at, they bring a cart to show you your options. They actually have all the cuts of steak and go through each one, you see the lobster option (yes this lobster was alive sitting on the plate - I felt slightly bad for it as it came out each time they went through the menu but I have to say that it was huge!), they show the ingredients that go into their signature salad - The Morton and they run through specials as well as desserts. Certain desserts were made to order (which we both had a signature) so those would have to be placed with the rest of your order.
As I mentioned, we started with the Prime Ocean Platter. Since it was so large, there was no way that I was going to have a salad. I really loved one of the sauces which was a mix of mayonnaise and mustard, it went really well with the King Crab legs which were huge. I had the Filet Mignon double cut butterflied and it was cooked at medium well, I really enjoyed this as it had great flavor and I didn't even need the sauce that came with it. I would suggest the Cajun Ribeye as I almost picked this once since it is marinated in cajun spices. They can put the spices on anything but it wouldn't be in the meat as it is with this particular cut. Paul had the New York Strip Steak and he seemed very happy about it. Each side is ordered a la carte and I already kenw that we were going to have the Creamed Spinach as that is my favorite veggie to order at dinner and we also had the Hashbrown Potatoe. This side dish comes in a pan and is a huge plate of hashbrowns. It was the perfect compliment to this meal. We had to save room for dessert as I ordered Morton's Legendary Hot Lava Cake - it was amazing! I love the raspberries on top and enjoyed my vanilla icecream. Paul had the Chocolate Souffle which also comes with cream - amazing! We also enjoyed after dinner drinks, I had Bailey's Caramel which went well with my dessert and Paul had cognac which he later put into his coffee!
The meal couldn't have been better, it was relaxed, everyone was attentive and yet not to the point where you felt like you were under a microscope. It seemed that having a 6pm reservation is a great time as they got busier through the night. This is a great place to come to for a business meal, grabbing a drink after work with co-workers or to impress friends and family out of town!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Jason Devereaux of Nostylgia Fashions! He is having a fab event that begins at 4 and runs through midnight! First off this store is more than just a place to get amazing wovens that I'm a huge fan of it's also a cultural oasis where fashion is mixed with art, music etc (stay tuned as they are opening a new and improved Inwood Tea Bar and Chess Lounge in their location - love places that do this). If you're looking for something to do or want to check out a new area, not only can you enjoy adding to your wardrobe with a fun summer sale but you can hear a DJ playing old school music, pick up some art and enjoy some Homemade Iced Tea Nutcracker! If I was in the city I would definitely check this out! But I can say that I plan on coming once they reopen their Tea Bar to check out everything! Earlier this month I headed out to Boston to visit the headquarters of TJ Maxx and Marshalls as they brought in various influential bloggers within the digital space. Now I will have a full post about our trip which allows us to learn more about what being a #Maxxionista is but today it's about Boston. I had never been to this city before and I must say that a 40 mins flight is the best travel to get there. I was so excited about checking out The Liberty Hotel as from the site it looked great. It wasn't until I checked in and was sipping on my complimentary champagne that I was told that it used to be The Charles Street Jail! Standing in the lobby, I looked at it with new eyes and realized yes this did look like a jail and although it's 4 stars I got a little nervous until I was staying in the new part known as the tower. The second video above is the way that this hotel allows you to say that you don't want to be disturbed. You can place your Solitary key on the door. I have to say that I wanted that key as we all know that I'm obsessed with wearing them but I did leave it behind haha!
There were quite a few people that were sent out on this trip and on the first night I hung out with Bryce Gruber of The Luxury Spot, Alexis Wolford of The Beauty Bean and Daniel Saynt of Fashion Indie. I had recently met Alexis through our Miami trip at the Delano for Schick but I've known Daniel and Bryce for awhile. While eating dinner, we saw a carousel across the street and vowed that we'd take a ride. We got the last one of the night and since I forgot my camera, Daniel was awesome to take the vid but you can hear him in the back. Although the trip was overnight, it's definitely a city that I want to explore a lot more!
Sippin Saturdays ~ Rock the Last Bikinis of Summer

It's almost official. Next weekend pretty much closes the door on summer and although we have transitioned into fall for the most part on this site, we realize that we can still squeeze out some more summer looks on a case by case basis! This weekend I have been soaking up some much needed sun as most of my summer has been spent traveling. I am obsessed with Vitamin A which has amazing swimsuits (how cute is the model in their campaign) and of course in typical style around Kitten Lounge, it's all about the accessories which can be worn with a number of other looks.
I am not a Prada girl when it comes to their handbags, but I love the shoes and these platform wedges are super cute and have that great aged look. I also love the ombre bag by Yves Saint Laurent which can be worn well into the fall. This is so luxe (imagine it with a fab pair of skinny jeans, booties and large sunglasses) and can fit a number of my items that I bring with me - this screams jetset. I am obsessed with the Tiffany & Co Keys - I love large keys and it makes a fab statement when you're out and about wearing it. I feel that every season, I always feel a little bittersweet at the end of the summer - the days of hanging out on rooftops with perfect weather get less and less, the madness of Fashion Week is only days away, my birthday is on the 12th of next month and yet I'm always excited to begin a number of projects that are focused on the fall and the summer. Because of that, I always get a signature accessory at the end of the summer which bridges into my fall wardrobe. It's a way of keeping a bit of an amazing time with me while I go forward! The key is just a sentimental and huge symbol for me that this is one that I would love to have to remind me of the significance of summer 2010 (all the press trips, becoming a Crest Spokesmodel/Ambassador and so many items that I will begin to share as we roll out over the next few weeks)!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Fall Domination

I love leather and when done well it has that same power suit feeling that many wore back in the day with huge shoulder pads. Typically when I wear it, it may be a pair of pants or a skirt but when I saw this dress that was a mix of mod and a little nod to Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome (she had something like this style on when she says "two men enter, one man leaves - ps this was overheard at an event last night as we brainstormed something fun that I pray actually happens, deets to follow and thanks for the quote @FashionStBeauty), I knew that this could be an amazing look for a night out, if you're hosting an amazing band release or anything where you want that mix of edge and femme to come together. I feel that this dress is so powerful that you have to continue with strong pieces and I am a huge fan of monotone (when done right of course).
I love the disco cuff which adds another edgy quality and is longer than the typical cuff. The dress is as much of an accessory as whatever you add into it which is a rarity. Love love love Miniaudiere's in general and this skin is so exotic and from Rebecca Minkoff (loved having tea time with her in her studio last night, follow up to come but Rebecca's so down to Earth and has a fab personality) - this is the perfect item to have nearby with your basic essentials. Finally, Tory Burch has a fab pair of hiking boots that's a mix of camp couture. The tassels are fun, the laces are epic and of course having the heel and coming up to the calf is a great look. Love the sexy vibe they send and there is another version of this shoe that is a taller boot that has a wrap detail that I'm also a huge fan so check out the site. Together this look is perfect for something that I am in total sync with Kimora on - finding a dress (or look) that is perfect for Global Domination, that's a fab mantra going into 2011!
Trendy Thursdays ~ Fashion Week Must Haves

I can't believe that next week is Sept which means that not only is it my birthday month but Fashion Week starts again! It's all about seeing shows, presentations, going backstage to do interviews and the parties! I love running into my friends who are also covering, talking shop and somewhere in between, you find the time to upload content. I also love that I get interviewed about what's going on or someone snaps a pic for whatever publication they are working with so you always have to be ready. I'm all about easy dressing that's super fashionable, no fuss and looks fab with heels. At the same time I know what works in terms of beauty items to keep on site. My secrets are now yours with my musts.
First, I have used Palmer's Cocoa Butter since I was a little girl. I can go through an entire large tub in a very short period of time. I love the smell, the fact that it keeps my skin smooth and when you do have blemishes, it takes them away (on a recent trip back from Miami TSA took my Cocoa Butter (but this is in any drugstore so no worries on not being able to find it) - it's not a liquid sigh at least I had a backup). I don't go anywhere without this and although they have a convenient stick, I love the tub! Another tip: if you use this everyday, God forbid you forget a day, after taking a shower and toweling off, your skin will stay hydrated!
The past few months I have definitely embraced my inner Poppy from rocking the bags, jewelry, travel accessories and soon jacket - such a cute line but now the fragrance! Coach's Poppy scent has been in my bag since I went to their launch event. It's a fun fragrance and it wears well throughout the day. I do believe it is becoming one of my signature scents as it's perfect for summer and going into the fall, I believe it will work here too!
Jane Iredale has a great cosmetic line and although I liked this translucent SPF 30 puff, once again after having lunch with the creator herself, I fell in love with it even more. Through all my press trips this summer, it has served me well. Since I will do a lot of running around in a small amount of days and being in and out of the sun, you still have to take care of your skin to ensure that it is protected!
Avon is a newer product to enter my little group of go to products. I have had the pleasure of attending a few events here and there and I was sent this large tray of glossed from them that had a number of shades in a natural gloss look, high shine and then sparkly. It wasn't until I was flying out to Boston the other week that I lost my Rosebud Salve (gasp). I was running around the house trying to find it and only the fact that I am anal about getting to the airport at a certain time stopped me from going into hysterics about this. I ran into my office and picked the clear Avon gloss and left - it was something at least. I became a fan after the first dab and haven't stopped using it! It glides on and it feels great. On the days that I don't want color, this is perfect - I'll definitely let you know about the other shades.

Trendy Thursdays: Project Accessory ~ Living Out of Travel Accessories
Aug26I can't believe how many places I have visited within a little over 4 weeks of travel! When you do a lot of it, you start getting your habits down and it's second nature. You make a semblance of home when you're on the road! I always have such an issue when it comes to packing as there are a lot of items in my beauty arsenal that I have to have just in case. What if I find out that I will be doing Z in addition to X and Y? If the day is a little stressing on my body, shouldn't I also bring this too? I like having everything in its place and Stephanie Johnson's Shanghai Collection hang up bag travel case has been and will continue to be a lifesaver! I love that it has tons of pockets, zips and space. Some spaces are larger than others so it's easy for me to put items in compartments. The bottom section was perfect for cosmetics such as Purple Lab's Luvah, Elizabeth Grant's The Socializer, etc and the top ones are good for the actual skincare items. I have to say that in my travels, I loved being able to try new additions to my fave products such as The Liberty Hotel was not only fab as it used to be a jail but they also carriedMolton Brown items and The Delano which is beyond luxurious, Korres. I even love the zebra pouch as it's the perfect place to include items for the time of the month that rolls around.
Although it hangs on the door, it can be folded together and is held securely by a set of clasps. On nights that I did an overnight, I kept everything inside and on the times where I had a few days, I was able to take some of it out.

Trendy Thursdays ~ A Fresh Canvas

How do you maintain a canvas? You always keep it clean and when imperfections come along like a zit here or there you attack it immediately. Being someone who is not prone to having a lot of acne, I always flip out when a random zit appears. Thankfully Brennan Lab's Zit Stick stops it in its tracks and is super easy to carry around with you! I love that the bright orange bottle means business and that it doesn't have a smell that lets the world know that you're fighting something that shouldn't be there.
While we focus on taking care of maintaining a smooth look, we also need to replenish our skin as well. I love washing my face and then doing a mini spa treatment by allowing my skin to soak in nutrients as well as to have some time to just rest. I just started using MyFaceWorks which has the masks you use for your face. Take one of the 6 packs out and apply it to the face and the magic begins. "The busy never let grass grow below their feet" says my Fashion Mom, someone that I admire very much (yes my mom is also fashionable and works in the business but I have another mentor Janine of the Janine Weil Showroom, who runs an amazing showroom here in the city and she is my go to when I am making changes here and there)!
This never ending activity has taken me to a number of cities this summer, tons of events in the city and it makes it hard to carve out time for a number of things. Sometimes when it's just too much and there's a lot to do, I don't even have time to sit down to have an amazing lunch. So, the best way for me to get in some much needed nutrients is in the form of health bars. Wearable Wednesdays ~ His Classic Style Updated

I love the classic tee and jeans as it can be worn to a number of places and is a signature for my outfits! The other day, I ran into a friend of mine in the fashion district as we're all running around prior to Fashion Week whether we have last minute photoshoots we're styling, checking in with our brands, dropping/picking items up etc. Within a span of 5 mins he caught up with me on his last 6 months of life and we promised that we'd brunch soon. He was wearing a great tee and jeans, simple but it made him look amazing and he jazzed it up with cute shoes and a bag. This look is so easy that the only way you can get it "wrong" is when you have ill fitting tees, jeans that have passed their expiration date, or anything that stops it from having that crisp and simple look etc.
Anytime you opt for this look make sure that the tee (whether a v or a crew neck) plays up the best attributes of your body type. Then find your jeans, I love a straight leg on a guy and there are a number of options. Note that straight legs are not skinny jeans, so if you were concerned that they would be too revealing, no worries! You could totally opt for super cute Italian sneakers but in this in between weather, what about popping in something unexpected? My friend was coming from a photoshoot and heading off to assist in a casting so having a look that was casual and comfortable was essential; however, he still wanted to look fashionable. I'm loving the Tuxedo II Dockside Boat Shoe from Vane by Sebago (fab collection to check out) as it takes a classic shoe and adds a bit of pop by having a patent look that doesn't overwhelm the outfit but steps it up on another level. Of course, if you're running around and bringing things here and there, guys shouldn't be afraid of rocking a bag. This one is perfect and is by Coach (plenty of bags to choose from in various sizes). This look works from running around to grabbing drinks at your favorite spot!
Treasure Tuesdays ~ Fall Into This Look

We all have that rocker chic style in us and it's super easy to recreate. Last night as I was walking around I could smell fall in the air. Being a girl from Indiana, it's one of my favorite scents no matter where you live! I love thinking about my looks for this time of year as it's a great transitional period that allows you to layer your summer pieces and then eventually bring in the winter ones! So I have the above jacket from Coach which I adore and can't wait to wear it with a number of pieces. I love that the lining is this gorgeous green and it's not even a question that it will be paired with skinny jeans (I know people are talking about the trend going to a bell bottom but I don't see this happening on a large scale and certainly not to a point where people are going to be dumping skinnies right and left).
I love wearing a tank (obsessed with Vince) into this look as it's simple and easy to put on when you have a day that doesn't have a power meeting per se and you're running around getting things done and then meeting up for wine and cheese! What makes this outfit drool worthy are the Christian Louboutin Armony Ankle Boots - with a removable cuff. I adore these shoes and think it adds the perfect rugged edge to this look while keeping it very clean. It's military meets Easy Rider and this is a must for what I want to wear when I'm out and about. In theory this look can be created very easily as it's that classic American style with a few piece that give it a worn look but in a chic way! Mingling Mondays ~ Style vs Rain

Whether you avoided the rain or simply dealt with it as you went about your day, here in NYC - it was super wet yesterday! When we woke up this morning, we realized that there was more rain to greet us. In the summer, rain doesn't always mean that the humidity goes down so we have to have ways to dress for it while remaining cool. Slowly but surely, we are getting back to wearing our jeans if you're like me and have been living in your maxi dresses. Pair them with a super fun pair of boots (loving the Jimmy Choo x Hunter boots in various colors) and a cute top! What I love about this top is that you can totally rock one shoulder peeking out so that the fabric drapes across your body. Whether you're hair is down or pulled into a messy bun, it's the perfect outfit for your Starbucks meetings, running into fittings pre-Fashion Week and so much more. Finally, you'll want a bag that you can store things into and I love this bag by Chloe. It has functional hardware while also holding everything together (especially your mini umbrella)!
Snazzy Sundays ~ Prepping For Fashion Week Spring 2011

The year has flown by and a lot has taken place since Feb 28th - a key date for myself as well as for Kitten Lounge! On this date, I hosted a shopping event at Tory Burch in the NoLita store and in many ways it was a turning point as I knew that that day unofficially, allowed Kitten Lounge to evolve along with benchmarks to grow the site! This came in the form of additional collaborations with such brands as Coach in their Fall MYNY campaign, attending some amazing press trips like Schick's Q Squad trip at the Delano in Miami, learning about the world of Maxxinistas, Avon's Lotus Shield and much more. In addition, I was able to take on such opportunities as contributing to Betty Confidential, becoming a spokesperson for a something many of us use every morning (deets soon) and going on HSN next year for a fab footwear brand and dare I say, to also collab with them to make a shoe line. If you asked me could I have planned this positive turn, I don't think that I could have! It takes a lot of people to make this work and with Kitten Lounge turning 3 in Oct, who knows what's around the corner - only my inbox has these secrets!
So it is with all of this that I look at this year's Fashion Week as something a little more special than usual. One, my birthday (Sept 12th) is always during this time and I feel that this portion of the year is when a lot of good things tend to kick in. Yes there is going to be the craziness that usually follows, running around, change of venue etc but I love making my lists. These lists involve shows and parties that I want to attend, coverage that I can provide for brands as well as placements that my site can receive. This year I will have a Men's Editor which is super exciting!
But with all that, my most important list is my personal checklist of what gets me through the day! My musts are my accessories and above are some key ones. First, I'm now obsessed with Neuro which has a super cute bottle but it's water that helps various items that you need whether it's to Sleep (this helped me a lot when I was in the midst of traveling), Bliss (it calms me down although I'm just a wee bit amped always) and much more! I think that I need to stockpile this water!
Beyond that, my necessities are large sunglasses - not only are they great in photo ops but when you hit those early shows and are heading out of the house, this is a must before you take your first sip of coffee! Although I have been sporting Marc Jacobs for awhile, I could definitely consider a pair like the ones from Roberto Cavalli Comfy heels are a must and on a completely not official poll, I've learned this summer that many of my fave editors and myself can't agree on the one heel that's super comfy. Some say Louboutin (not going to lie love how they look), Manolo's etc but I'm a Jimmy Choo girl. When I travel, I have a pair with me no matter what. So, it's a must that I find a pair that will work throughout the week for most of the outfits that I'll sport! Finally, the handbag - I carry a lot my Flip, mini laptop, notebook, etc. Although I may be carrying the amount of a baby elephant, I don't want to look that way. This cute bag from Rebecca Minkoff would allow me to wear it to whatever without any changing, which is a necessity as well!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Keeping It Luscious: Luscious Life Mantras
Aug21My early memories involve us bumping into one another at the tents of NY Fashion Week, tech events and anything glam and amazing. We would tell our life stories in a matter of minutes or maybe a few hours! To know her is to be drawn to her and recently I love that we have been able to hang out more! If you heard my radio interview with her earlier this year then you know that Shoshi (Yolanda Shoshana) is the Modern Day Courtesan and Luscious Lifestyle Diva! She teaches us how to still retain our natural sexiness and how to initiate it in a world where many times our focuses are all over the place. Bi weekly she will share her sexy insights with us and I'm so happy that she is on board! In keeping with her name, her segments are Keeping it Luscious! Last time she let us know about how to keep it sensual. Today she shares with us the importance of a life mantra.
A part of keeping it luscious is taking care of the spirit. Being a woman on the go, sometimes we neglect slowing down to take a deep breathe and take it all in. The next thing we know there is drama, chaos, and confusion in your lives.
My solution for this is Luscious Life mantras. A mantra can be a sound, one word, or short sentence used for creating transformation. Luscious Life mantras are simple sayings that get you centered and remind you that you are a fabulous and fierce woman who can do anything!
Maybe you won’t’ use a mantra every day, but think of mantras as a sensual tool to put into your bag of tricks. I think they are sensual because they are powerful positive affirmations, felt all over your body. Your creative juices will be flowing, you will have a spring in your step, and you will be feeling amazing inside which makes you look luscious on the outside.
Whenever I am having a bumpy day or something isn’t going my way, I say a mantra, before I know it I am back in it to win it. Here are a few for of my favorites, maybe you will be inspired to write your own.
1) “I am unlimited”- this is one of my favorite mantras, it is short and to the point. I meditate on this a lot. I think I actually read this on Yogi tea bag (they have great quotes). You are unlimited. There is nothing you can’t do, so be sure to remind yourself of this great fact whenever you need to.
2) “I will dumps the chumps, and allow real love to be in my life”- this mantra is for the single girl and the woman in a relationship with the wrong person. Why waste your time on someone who you know is not the one, especially when finding a life partner is your goal. Say this consistently when you know it is not a good relationship, don’t settle. Before you know it no clowns will be around and you will be snuggled up next to the person of your dreams.
3) “I will listen to myself and not to them, because I am in it to win it” -There will always be haters and naysayers
who shoot down your goals. Trust your instinct, your gut, your intuition or whatever name you choose to call it. That inner voice that talks to you when you are making a big decision in your life is your BFF. Successful people are good at listening to that voice; normally they go against other people’s advice. Your inner voice is a part of the universe tapping you on the back letting you know that you are on to something. Own your inner voice, it will become like second nature and you will stop second guessing yourself.
4) "I am the master of my own universe”- This mantra is reminder that nothing is happening to you, it is happening because of you. Work with the universe to get what you want. What you think about you bring about. You attract who and what comes into your life. If you are not getting what you desire, begin to change your thoughts. Focus on abundance and not on lack!

Whether you've been to Fashion Week, read it in the papers or see it online, it's a crazy amount of time that takes months of preparation in order to ensure that the 20 minutes on the catwalk looks phenomenal. Nothing is crazier then when you're backstage! For those that have been backstage, it's like seeing what everything looks like before the magic fairy dust kicks in!
