We all know that this is the last official weekend of the summer without a doubt! It's also my last relaxing weekend before heading into some crazy weeks including Fashion Week (starting Thurs - eek), my birthday this weekend and a number of other projects which are slightly top secret but will be shared later on. So when Paul, our Food Editor here on the site said that we had to go to Fire Island we (Jacob - Men's Editor and I) were intrigued. None of us had been to Fire Island and as we took the ferry over to the island that is connected by boardwalks as you're not able to drive, we realized that this lush oasis was going to be a lot of fun!
Labor of Love was an amazing event that took place last night where proceeds of the ticket sales went to support Housing Works which has provided support since 1990, homeless men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS in New York City and beyond. If you have went to the Housing Works Thrift Shop or the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, you have supported their efforts and the community at large. To have such a party and to support this initiative which was really amazing to see. Of course, what's a party without fab music? I was beyond thrilled that Shontelle performed 'Impossible' as well as 'Perfect Nightmare' yesterday (you'll see images of her in our gallery as well as a quick shot of her and I) and of course, we enjoyed beverages from Cuca Fresca. Last night I enjoyed the Brazilian Mint Lemonade which I believe is the drink of the day and perfect to enjoy for Labor Day Weekend! Enjoy the images from the event, the beauty of Fire Island and more! To see a turnout this large at a fab house party (even the Mayor of Fire Island hung out with us) was a lot of fun! In addition, for those following on Facebook, you'll be able to see more images from this event!
