Today is Saturday, November 7, 2009
We're in the holidays! This is the time of year where we have to really think about maximizing our outfits as we may be at work all day and don't have time to change into or buy something else to go out after work! I love to keep things simple and then to change it up with fab accessories! Trina Turk is one of my favorite designers - yes I'm a fan of hewr swimwear but when it comes to cute outfits to do business in, she has you covered there as well. Who doesn't like the classic sheath dress with an embellishment to give your outfit some character?
Of course, I'm all about the lariat wne this piece which is availabel at Max & Chloe is enough to make your outfit stand out without looking like you went over the top by putting on a bit too much (sometimes when you have embellishments that aren't balanced, you don't want to confuse the eye on where to look! This ring at Topshop is so cute! Does anyone remember Clash of the Titans - I had watched a million times at home and we had to watch it in Middle School - this ring is spot on with the little owl Bubo (They're doing a remake of this and it'll be out next year). To complete this look, how about this Flower Bracelet from Kima Zabete? There are a lot of natural elements within this look overall which is perfect for the fall and yet you look amazing at the same time! As always, the links above can be clicked on!
One of my favorite questions tends to give me the most pause - where did you get your outfit? Literally it comes from bits and places? What does that mean - some items I have had forever and others I picked up from Forever 21, a gifting event, online and more. I never feel the need to wear something simply because I bought it and it's new; however, when I start putting items together, the overall effect is one that seems like I planned for everything to work well with one another. What would I wear on a casual day?
When I have no set plans, I tend to wear something that works well when I'm pounding away at Starbucks on my laptop yet will be perfect for an unexpected launch event that I was invited to where I can still enjoy wearing my jeans and top but may need to grab an accessory. As a rule, I am a firm believer in my accessories dominating my entire look! It's essential that I have the perfect cuff and many times my shoes do match or at least correspond to my bag or wallet. I love the Nina Raye Crocodile Wallet which has that great luxe feel. When you're in a meeting at Starbucks and are running back and forth for another infusion of a Soy Chai Latte, people can't help but notice that this accessory compliments these boots by Frye! In addition, I am a fan of skinny jeans so the Dolman top by Velvet looks so comfortable and casual while having rhinestones to give a hint of elegance which comes in handy when you realize that you have drinks with the girls. A bare arm is never an excuse so find a cuff that works well for you and this one by Anna Beck Rajua is perfect! When you shop don't just think about something event specific, thing about items that you'll need in terms of a collection. A collection must be balances and yet work into different themes. As always, the links above are clickable!
It's so hard! When the weather starts getting chilly but I'm watching shows like the Hills, I wonder why I couldn't have decided to move to LA as opposed to being in NYC. But then I remember that NY is someplace that I could never be away from and if cold is the tradeoff, then I would need to just deal with it! The good news is, I'm able to travel so I never have to stay in the cold for too long. Thinking of LA makes me remember that I have plans to visit later on this year or as late as Feb and I love the idea of mixing an element of summer with a bit of fall. I'm obsessed with kimono outfits (yesterday I was wearing a kimono top over a pair of jeans) but if I were out an about in LA, I would love this simple Kimono jumper by Joie paired with these booties. I love that they're suede and have a bit of rocker detail. To add to that, the cuff of metal feathers is the perfect compliment and today, I'm including a Mother of Pearl, snail shell, Agate piece from my jewelry line, Kitten Couture!
I could imagine this on a day meeting with showrooms to talk about new collections, meeting with friends, heading out to dinner and more! Just looking at this look makes me want to start planning trips to leave the impending cold! Even if you're not heading anywhere, these are great pieces to begin including within your closet or at the very least, you'll want to click within the spread and check out the fab brands! For those that are fan of Kitten Couture, contact me as I have a special promo that you can use from now to the end of the month to add a little spice into your jewelry collection!
One of the things that I love most about my look is that I like to blend a lot of styles that may not seem to work and yet they do! I am all about a retro/vintage look - so I'm always interested in whatever Anthropologie happens to carry at the moment (at one time being a manager at the Rockefeller Center came in handy seeing the ever changing collection. I love that this top has a lot of embellishment and is super simple to pair over jeans or leggings. Of course, it's essential to have a great pair of Hudson Jeans. What I love about this pair is that they have a black coating which has a bit of a rocker look which makes your outfit go to the next level in terms of an edgy look.
Now with this retro top paired with the rocker chic pants, accessories are called for to take this look a head turning presentation. I love python and this gorgeous bag from CC Skye is a huge bag and one that is definitely classic. With the gold embellishments on the bag, you'll want to have a piece by Victoria Tillotson who is not only a fab jewelry designer but a teacher at the School of Visual Arts here in NYC. Not only would I love to wear this cuff but it says a lot as I typically love wearing sterling silver as opposed to gold. Finally to complete this look, I love the heels by Jessica Simpson which have a great retro femme effect. I feel that python is the perfect way to add a classic element to a look while making it pop and together all of this works well whether you're going out for drinks, meeting with investors, doing a run through of a show and more! Take some time to check out looks and to click the links above as well.
This Fri, I will find myself back at S Factor, the pole dancing studio that is more than just a pole dance activity. It actually includes some yoga and also some dance as well. I have done it one other time and thought it was amazing. This time I am coming back to enjoy the experience with other Editors to get a feel for it so next week you'll see a fun post! I'm super excited because they are adding stilettos into this. I'm a little nervous but up for the challenge. The last time I did this course (without stilettos), I wore cute hip hugging yoga pants and a tank. I wasn't sure what to expect but it gets super hot when you have two hours of this work! So I have created one of my famous spreads which includes boy shorts (love Hanky Panky as a former underwear model, I am still obsessed with this brand), long leg warmers, a cute tank and some jewelry that won't get in the way but will make the look come together! It's easy to bring elements of Flashdance within this look! I'll let you know what I actually end up wearing but this is the perfect look and I'm sure with heels it will be amazing!
Did anyone get caught in the random rain that caught us off guard yesterday (ok maybe it didn't take you off guard but the day started out so pretty)? This weather is all about layers or finding the right way to wear fall when it's not to chilly and yet not so warm anymore. I just purchased the grey version of this ruched sweater and I LOVE it. It has a nice look, the perfect neckline and can be dressed up. I too wore a cute scarf and paired it with one of my lariat necklaces; however, this piece from Virgins, Saints and Angels is the perfect compliment. I love how ornate it looks and the line has been one that I have followed over the past few years. A gorgeous necklace deserves to be paired with an awesome ring. I love that this wrapped ring definitely assists you in getting your point across (if you talk with your hands extensively, you'll enjoy this added look) and of course - pair this with jeans. I love my Hudson jeans that are in this dark wash with a faded look. Whether you pair this with heels or ballet flats it has such an easy look that you're always perfectly dressed!
As much as I love adding pops of color, every now and then I love the classic "black accessories". They're a great go to piece when you're not sure of what works or when you just want to go back to basics! With that being said, this Eva Varro floral top is perfect for this in between season as it's not only a great pop of hot pink, but it's a great item to wear over leggings. You can wear this to an after work event, running errands or anything where it's not necessary to seriously dress up. If you're in the city tonight and are a stylist, blogger or someone within fashion media, I would love for you to come to a Mixer that we're having at Coterie, a fashion trade show here in NYC at the Javits Center. It runs from 6 - 7pm and not only can you network and mingle but there will be cocktails and a chance to see the line and the showroom owner, Janine Weil, who works this line within her showroom - Janine Weil Ltd! We'll be at booth 5965 tonight so let me know if you will attend as we have limited space!
Today's spread has a lot going on in but it's serving as my personal check list and as always, you can click the links to see more about the pieces that I have selected. On Sat, I celebrated my 30th birthday and I'm actually in the Parker Ruffle Racer Top (you'll also see it in my reality episode as well which comes out later this fall) which is definitely a great staple year around but I love the idea that as the weather gets cooler, I can throw a blazer on! The cord blazer is a must in my wardrobe I love the texture and I love the details of it as well! I have a black blazer that has been so handy when I needed to round out my look. When it comes to boots, I tend to go for the over knee but every now and then I like a bootie and these are perfect. I have a few pairs of Colin Stuarts within my closet and I definitely want to check these off my list! I just got a new bag for the season and it is in fact the Prudence from Cole Haan! I love that it has a slender look but still holds my Jimmy Choo wallet, Flip, Blackberry, etc and the leather details - AMAZING! Finally, we have the Hudson Legging Jean, I don't have these yet but when I hung out with Casey, Hudson Jeans New Media & PR Coordinator at Hudson, (you can see a pic of her and I on the press page) in Vegas at the ENK Show, she was wearing them and looked stunning - so I need to get them! Of course I'm wearing a fab pair of Hudsons now that I have not been able to stop wearing for awhile now! Together this look can be worn to be very chic whether I'm at the runways, in the showrooms or just running around. Apart, they become great staples that will help in building your fall wardrobe! What are your key pieces for fall and how are you going to make it all come together?
You know that beyond talking fashion, I love keeping you updated on what's going on with my friends who are in the industry! Tasty Morsels Bakery has had a lot of success this past year and the year isn't even over! I feel so fortunate that in many ways, when founder and cookie baker extraordinaire, Crystal Horton and I had a chance to sit down and really learn about one another that I was able to learn about her business from the beginning. Since then, I've seen the cookies appear in the goodie bag for the Brooklyn Cancer Society's Pink and Black Tie Gala hosted by Stacy London, she was apart of Bust's Craftacular in Brooklyn and she was one of the personalities that appeared on the episode of the web based reality show, To Be a Star where she served as one of my friends in the industry who sat with some of the aspiring models in the show due to them winning this time with us.
Of course it was this same day that we bumped into @Aronado after we had finished shooting and somehow the three of us came up with the idea that he should interview her on his show StartUp Lucky which talks with those starting up their own businesses. Crystal is not only someone who has combined her love of fashion and baking but she's also done something that I'm super proud of. She has embraced Social Media and although she is learning the ropes and treading carefully, I love the fact that she is integrating this into her plans! You all know that I'm a huge advocate and I love that you'll see her out there sending tweets via @Tasty_Morsels Bakery. Watch this interview where @Aronado does what he does best - chatting it up and of course, I'm also throwing in my two cents as I play co-host! It was such a good time and if you have yet to enjoy her cookies, your holiday isn't complete without having them and since we have just signed off from summer - we're definitely in fall/holiday mode which is perfect for gifting! Of course you can always check out my friends and more by following me @Cocoabebe.
Before I even got here, I had a few people on my list that I wanted to see and one of them was Hudson Jeans which is showing at ENK Shows at the Wynn. Now the first thing is that I didn't know a lot about them until a friend of mine (who worked with them at one time) introduced me to some people at a party they threw in Vegas in Feb 2008. Everytime I complained about not getting the perfect jean and the fact that I had a small waist but a bigger bootie that made it difficult, he kept saying you have to get Hudsons. Then, I got my first pair last spring and wore them so much that it was a tearful departure when we had to part ways. Lets speed it up to the present when I needed the perfect jean to wear for my reality show taping, only one jean represented cool, chic and casual and I was so pleased to receive an awesome pair that worked well with heels. So I knew when I came to Vegas, I had to check out the booth and Casey, their Social Media PR person (let me say that they get the world of social and that I can't wait to continue to expand my denim knowledge and working them into the spreads that you guys love so much) walked me through the line and we even hit the ENK Show floor to look at fab pairings! She happened to have on the the Legging Jean. Now I know there has been much debate about this pair of jeans but let me say that after seeing them in person I thought it was denim but the fact that you have the great denim look, their signature 2 buttons, the classic flap that gives all booties that perfect look and the perfect fit, this is something that we should all have in our closets. Expect to hear a lot more from Hudson as they have definitely stepped up their presence with the addition of making Georgia Jagger the face of the brand. Casey and I hit the floor and saw a great shirt company that many of the celebs have been seen in - LnA Clothing. I love that these are simple tees that really provide a dynamic look. The Side Tail Tee is something that I am loving. It comes in a tank or a tee and what better shirt to pair with your jeans? Of course when it comes to an awesome shoe, I have to say that Jimmy Choo is my go to pair. Now they were not at the show but if you were wearing this to go out for a night with the girls or a very cool event, the Kurt would be your shoe. I love that it's suede and embossed leather and lets the rocker chick in you come out. As always the links above can be clicked on so that you can grab fab pieces to create your look! Just another day at the shows in Vegas!
I have never been bitten by the Soap Opera bug, the lingering stares the obvious connections and the music that doesn't really bring any form of anticipation. The characters are not people that I have ever felt were real. I simply have never been hooked UNTIL (hit the music as someone peeps behind the door to hear my secret that I say ending with the lingering pause and look) - I fell upon Chicago to Coronado, a Twitter Soap Opera that is done in 140 characetrs complete with links to images and video! I don't want to give too much away but Coronado is a Navy SEALS town and the main character @kirsteno comes here from Chicago (interestingly, there are a lot of Chicago connections here that built the town) and finds herself here and as much as she wants to leave, her new life and love of flip flops keeps here here. There are some interesting characters that somehow all link up even when you're totally surprised. In addition, you can become a character of this saga (oh I so want to be a character - let @kirsteno and for some reason I started looking at the tweets and realized it was a story after clicking on some links I was lead to her homepage where you can begin the story at wherever you left off (but if you follow her you can get the story in real time) and that's how on a night back from hanging out with my girlfriends and heading to Long Beach, NY I found myself getting hooked and reading this story! Good job team and I love the fact that everyone in the story is all about Reinvention! This is something that many of us know about starting anew whether it's in a new location, job, etc. Don't think that you have to be a military buff to follow along nor is it heavily military where you feel like you're reading a history book. The staff have an AMAZING mix of history, military info, fashion, etc - I would so be the fashion advisor anytime they need it! Check it out and get hooked on an amazing story and the first Twitter Soap Opera and follow the characters of the story as well!
I live for the simple maxi dress to pair with accessories. Me, the girl who ran from gold has found a happy medium between my sterling silver looks and embracing another look. I've started to truly love that antiqued look of gold. There is something about the aged look that definitely makes me feel that I'm dressed but not too bright with the bold gold that I love on others but not myself (not to say that I don't have a little gold every now and then). Today, I present great ways to enjoy a sunny yellow dress (I live in Victoria's Secret 24/7) and to compliment it with Michael Kors sandals, Alkemie's Sting Ray Cuff and Alexis Bittar's pendant which is a perfect playful mix of hues that go from neutrals to bronze. It's a great way to wear a little bling while looking totally natural! We haven't left the summer yet so make sure you check out these great pieces and mroe!
Two of my favorite colors are black and grey! When done right, it's very dramatic! As usual, you can click on the links above to learn more about the designers. Parker is a designer that is new to me that I'm falling in love with! This Three Ruffle Dress is awesome! I can say this as I have the blouse version of this dress and will actually wear it during an upcoming episode of To Be a Star! This line has so many great feminine qualities that still have a bit of an edge so I would definitely wear this dress to brunch or to an opening (even my 30th bday as it is that cute)! I've talked about Ana Reign before and I love the large cocktail ring and the fact that eyes won't be able to look away at your hand! Jimmy Choo is always a favorite and I love the open look of this 'caged' heel!. You know that I have always been a fan of Ted Rossi and I gave this piece which I wear all the time with tanks and leggings. This adds a lot of texture without the heft due to the skin. To tie in the sleek and the texture look that you're putting together, I love the clutch by Carlos Falchi which has a great print while also blending colors. I truly love that if you opt to do black and grey this is a such a fun way to do it without looking old and dated! Take some time to think about how to do an edgy/flirty look with the LBD!
When it comes to making your outfit truly standout, the only way that this can be done (in my opinion of course), is via accessories! I love that someone could wear a cute black tank and black leggings with flip flops and they look comfortable. But then as it goes from day to night, including a studded cuff, a pair of heels and sunglasses (the days are longer so I think about my sunglasses) - now you're look simply fab heading out t wherver you've been invited. Above are two series of tones that you should think of including within your look. I love red as a great element of color. I used to never wear red as I felt a little uncomfortable; however, using it as an accessories, I like the idea of wearing red heels as in this gorgeous pair from SOS Mark. I love the black braiding! These Chanel sunglasses are a great mod look that add a bit of that color. For my Ladies of Pop, this is perfect! For those who want a neutral color but want a shoe that speaks for them, then I suggest this pair of shoes from the Tribal Collection of Casadei! I love the heel and that this is not only a peep toe shoe but has great cutouts that follow the angle of your foot. To top it off, the sunglasses by Carmen Marc Valvo (love his outfits and have been proud to attend one of his Fashion Week Shows last Sept) which has a bit of that innovative look while also being supremely casual! Take some time to think about what pops of color must be infused within your wardrobe to take your outfit from a look to one that realy shows who you are! As always, the links above can be clicked on!
I'm not really into Glitter but I am a fan of things that sparkle and glisten especially on a night out or when I know I'm hitting a red carpet function! I'm the type of person who enjoys wearing many of my night time pieces during the day. As always the links within the spread are active! I love Ted Rossi's Python Maltese Cross Cuff - these are perfect to wear with cute dresses, evening gowns and even jeans! I have quite a few clutches and cuffs from Ted Rossi; however, he has a Python White Cuff with an Onyx that I wear all the time and it always starts a conversation. In addition, I am a huge fan of Objets d'Envy (who doesn't love Swarovski Crystal jewelry) who has gorgeous pieces that add glam to the evening and to the everyday! Meeting Kirstin, the designer while I was in Chicago was a great experience! Pade Vavra has always been a favorite and this handmade Platinum Chain Necklace is great with a simple dress and perfect with a tank and pair of jeans! Every piece has an element of goddess to it! I love my branch silver necklace and also my olive branch like cuff in gold! Either piece adds a bit of nature and muse like aspects to my outfit! For those wanting to make an impact, try the Curations line with Stefani Greenfield as she will be on HSN July 29th at 8pm and July 30th starting at 1pm! I love that these pieces are conversation starters and they definitely up the overall style that you're going for. My favorite pieces are the two Swarovski clutches by Imi! These pieces combine art and style together for an amazing look! In fact these are pieces that you can not only cradle in your hand but you'll love sitting it on your table while you're in between getting a cocktail or enjoying your courses. Whether you love a minimal approach or you prefer an intricate design, Imi is a great way to secure an amazing look!
Yesterday I dropped by my friend's office and although I had something to talk to her about, I'm glad she interrupted me and asked my opinion of a shoe that she was designing. Who knew that Timberland had a design your own shoe? Not only can you design it but there is no detail from lace color, which portion of the shoe will have what color and even the thread color is all up to you! If you feel like monogramming, you can have the tongue, side of the shoe and inside of it as well! I haven't had a boat shoe since I was in Middle School and I think I will get a pair! I love my color choices as I am a fan of burgundy, purple, grey and olive! If this seems like something you would love to do, they offer it in men's and women's so this will make a great gift as well! Click the link in the spread to begin putting your look together (if you'd rather not design your own they have some custom designs that you may want to choose from)!
Whether you're heading out for a summer wedding, having an event on your roofdeck or are going out for a nice dinner, there are times when you want to dress up! Since it's definitely getting toasty, make sure that you include a bit of whimsy and the sea within your look. I love this dress by DVF which has gorgeous layers and a great floral look. Since there are great neutrals, I love that you can pair this with Jimmy Choo's snakeskin shoes, Kate Spade's mother of pearl bracelet and this cute handbag! If you love this look, figure out ways that you can recreate this with other tones as well!

I'm doing a sun dance! They say it's summer but the clouds are getting ridiculous! So I'm making sure that we're guaranteed some sun by doing a dance and buying many bikinis and accessories. If everyone does it, this rain will stop right? My birthday will be in South Beach this year as I will celebrate the 3-0 in decadent style and this may very well be what I'll be in while I'm in my cabana at the Loews! I love the neutrals and the bathing suit - perfection - I may not be a Bond Girl today but I can dream! Take some time to think about what you'll be wearing this season!
On average, I hit the gym 3 – 4 days a week at about an hour and a half to two hours! It’s generally later in the evening so I can watch my guilty pleasures (reality tv) while letting off some steam at whatever NYSC that I happen to be close to at the moment. Just like I pick what I wear when I’m out and about, I’m all about comfort and style for the gym as well. I have quite a few outfits and interestingly enough, I tend to dress in yoga style whether I’m doing pilates or are on machines! Today is a great assortment of items that are perfect for the gym. My favorite piece, Spibelt’s Spiband which allows me to hold my iPod and my keys within the little case (I can even get my lipgloss in here) and it fits on my arm. They also have one for the waist as well so click on the link above to find out more!
I also believe in a good bag and this one, by Athleta, is perfect for me to bring all my necessities while having a separate place for my mat. A water bottle is a must and as much as possible, I believe that having something that you can use again is better than a disposable one – so check out Smallflower as they have quite an extensive collection. When it comes to shoes there are so many options but I love that these sneakers pick up the flair of the overall outfit that is available at Victoria’s Secret (one of my favorite places as well). Whatever you do keep it functional, comfortable and add your own personal style!
One of the favorite things that I love when I go out or am planning a trip (SoBe this weekend woohoo) is thinking about my outfits! No matter how much I have going on, the favorite part of my day is thinking about where I'm going and what I want to say through my clothing. I'm always on the lookout for amazing pieces and designers that are new to me. With that being said, I found out about a line that was new to me and most recently, I have a few favorites from Tamara Pogosian! I love that these are definitely glam looks that make everyone feel like they came straight from a magazine shoot. Whether you're going to a lounge, an opening and beyond, I believe that these should be something you should consider. Of course, I had to think about which ones I loved the best (all the ones included in the gallery) and I definitely love the gold dress that I labeled as My 30th birthday dress! Now I have quite a few dresses that I included here so, I'm sure that you'll find looks that are perfect for whatever you're planning!
I love the simplicity of summer! There is something to be said for wearing a super cute dress or a tunic over a pair of leggings. It's such a great look while also allowing you to stay cool as the temperatures begin to rise! Don't forget that even a simple and effortless outfit still needs a kick to ensure that you look amazing. Try various pieces from Emily Elizabeth Jewelry. I love the Grecian look that she creates with her pieces from fab lariats to chokers as well. In addition to the necklaces, you'll find that there are bracelets and earrings as well. These little elements will ensure that you'll stand out regardless of where the day or night takes you! My favorite piece, the Geometric Lariat! I think it is truly versatile and I feel that this style allows you to style yourself the way you know how!
I fell in love with containers when my dad used to give my sister and I presents. Instead of using paper and boxes (not to say he was being green), he would gift them in various containers. This way we always knew that we would have yet another container that could store whatever. It definitely came in handy for college as we had containers of various sizes. This storage was definitely functional but not art (but yet it was great to put in a closet, store under the bed, etc).
66 Degrees, a site that I love as they always have designers that are on the brink of something new and innovative whether it's jewelry, bags, etc just told me about John Wiggers, Pyramid Keepsake Box. Is it art or is it a place to store your jewelry? Yes and yes without a doubt. Created from 8 aromatic woods which have been known to have various healing powers, he constructed this piece within the Divine Proportion (a mathematical principle) that was found by Leonardo Fibonacci and would later be included within Leondardo Da Vinci's 'Vitruvian Man'. To learn the details and explanation behind these boxes, I encourage you to go to the site to find out more as I could go on for paragraphs. But what you should know is that these are handmade and in keeping with 66 Degrees' believe in limited quantities, there were only 10 that were created and each is named after a pyramid and will arrive with a certificate of authenticity. Whether you use it as something to display on a table or you place your most treasured items in it, this is definitely something that will have people asking you about this piece!
If you're a dedicated reader to my site and are unaware of Ted Rossi then I'm definitely not doing my job of sharing my favorite finds with all of you! I have been a fan of Ted Rossi's pieces since my first blog back in 2005 and continue to write about them, wear them and more! The pieces are upscale, versatile and very classic! With that said, they will have a one day Sample Sale and with limited items available, when it's gone - it's gone! Take some time to check out their fab space on Fri the 15th from noon - 7pm and snag items which will become your accessories go to pieces no matter what you happen to wear at the time!
Happy Cinco de Mayo, if you read yesterday's post, I hope to see you at Elizabeth and guys - this summer will be complete with a nice pair of shorts! We talked about Bonobos earlier this Spring and of course, we included it within our current guide (Beaches, Backyards, Roofdecks and Barbecues) but just incase you wanted to know more about the styles that they have, we had to give them their own post! Bonobos is available online and gives men the end of an age old excuse - not wanting to shop for bottoms. Not only does Bonobos have an amazing line of pants but they have recently launched a new pair of shorts! I love the fact there are a lot of prints and that the shorts are offered in two lengths. There are no more excuses at this point and of course you'll always have a great pair to bring with you at a lake house, after drinks and more!
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
