Treasure Tuesdays ~ Support Your Accessories

As an Accessories Expert, I'm always checking out new pieces that I want to wear or that I want my clients to wear when I style them! My rule for accessories is the same that I have for apparel. When you find yourself fidgeting in your garments or accessories, that's when you know that you need to make sure that things stay put! I have a growing kit that I use whether I'm going out with friends, going on air, prepping for Shoe Week events or styling clients for their music videos or their red carpet moments. Although a lot of my tricks of the trade are things that I have created myself, I love the items in this list as they are a must whether it keeps you looking fabulous or extends the life of what you're wearing.

Sometimes you do actually see me wearing earrings - although it can be a rare site! My ears are sensitive and I don't like the feel of an earring with weight although I think it's gorgeous to wear a pair of cascading chandelier earrings! To offset the weight and to feel a bit more secure, I highly suggest BlingGuard's BlogDots which have 45 pairs that are disposable and come within a tin. You can also use these on your clip ons, pins, brooches and badges.

I love Hollywood Fashion Secrets' Fashion Tape Refillable Gun as we all know it's great when we have garments that need to stay put whether you're ensuring that a wardrobe malfunction doesn't take place but it also has other uses that are not always about items playing peekaboo on you! When I wear scarves or sashes, I actually use the tape to keep the knots tied so that I don't have to tweak it during the day or night. I also like to use this to secure bra straps, to take the extenders on necklaces and to tape it under my dress so they don't peek out when I wear it.

I'm a rounded toe girl but there are times when I wear a pointy toe and my clients definitely love it. Over time, you'll find that your shoe has indentations as your natural gait will create breaks in the pointed toe area. Tip Top Shoe Saver ensures that you can put these little V-shaped items within the toe of the shoe to keep creases away when you're not in them. Each box comes with a pair and is a must when this is the shoe of choice.

You know that my signature is a fabulous ring and of course, I get them sized when they're my own; however, when I am borrowing jewelry from a brand or styling my clients I have to use BlingGuard BlingWraps! These invisible latex free bands ensure that you're rings won't turn around on your finger or slip - which is embarrassing as no one should fidget and have their accessories work against them. There are 30 bands that come in each box which is always good to have on hand.

For those that are driving around, you always wonder about whether you'll ruin your heels! Tip Top Shoe Glove For Heels (check out their version for men's shoes as well as flats for women) slips up the back of your heel so it's completely protected and wraps around your ankle so that your shoe looks fabulous without worrying about any unnecessary brushing.

Finally, we've all had a shoe that for some reason rubs against our heel or is a little loose in the back. I definitely suggest Avon's Back of Heel Liners has a set of two. This is definitely something that's great to have on hand to ensure that no shoe is deemed unwearable!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Happy New Year

Last night as we jetted on our way to RSVP, on the West Side Highway, we saw that the Empire State Building (thanks to The 212.com and Reddit/NYC for the fab image) was lit up in a festive LED light show that went from white to the fabulous colors shown and it twinkled. 2012 was an amazing and challenging year for many of us no matter where we reside or what we faced individually or collectively. It was great to see people on a mission to enjoy closing the year and paving the way to a new year whether it was going out to a club or doing a soiree at home!

Today, like many we took a step back, relished the thought of enjoying a chill day and contemplating how we get back to work and attack a number of resolutions, tasks and more to begin making this year count! Kitten Lounge and its related properties will be back and running with amazing and fabulous posts as we all get back to our schedules!

Trendy Tuesdays ~ Get in Gear

Yesterday I hit the gym after taking a bit of a break. I always exercise but I wanted to focus on strength training and more. With that in mind, I'm a big believer in dressing for the part! With that said, I love Victoria's Secret Pink, I work out in it, lounge and travel in it! One of the best collaborations that VS Pink could have done is create lines of clothing from universities! I love wearing my Alma Mata, Indiana University and having a little bling with yoga pants is perfect! The fact that it's grey is also a huge bonus and of course, I love pairing it with a simple tank top.

Finish this look off with Stella McCartney - I love her collaboration with Adidas the sneakers are cute and have a very fashionable flair and I love the bag which can hold everything that you feel you need!

Trendy Tuesdays ~ Modern Day Empress

Chilly temperatures don't mean that you have to skimp when you're going out for an evening with the girls or wherever you plan on visiting! With that said, less is more and you can enjoy wearing a cute pair of leggings with a top that's perfect as it's asymmetrical. Think about how cute you'll look when you're dancing or grabbing drinks at your table. Pair this with a cute piece from Emily Elizabeth's jewelry collection and you'll find that her sale from now through the end of the week! Of course to add a little more sass (don't think that you can ever have enough) pair it with these Peep Toe Booties by Giuseppe Zanotti - this is a great way to make your legs look even longer. Finally, no outfit is complete without a gorgeous cocktail ring and I'm definitely all about this drool worthy John Hardy Black Wood Dome Ring! Together, you're bound to be the center of attention on the dance floor or at your table!

Trendy Tuesdays ~ The Goddess Within

I'm officially over the cold temperatures! I know that you guys have heard me talk in previous posts about loving boots and the idea of layering but the fact is, that I am a summer girl trapped in a seasonal world! With that said, you will see a lot of spring/summer posts even when it's super chilly outside! One of my favorite looks involves a maxi dress. I love the fact that you can wear super cute sandals and yet your dress is so long, it's ok that you're not wearing heels. In fact, you just ensured that you'll be able to dance throughout the night without an issue! When you want the maxi dress to be spiced up, think about wearing this fab one shoulder look and then pairing your bear shoulder with a long cuff and and your other arm can wear this antiqued cocktail ring. I love bringing a new take on the goddess look which wears well in Miami, the Hamptons and anytown USA!

Trendy Tuesdays ~ NYE Coverage: Our Version of Break

Whether you work for yourself or someone else, you've been enjoying playing hooky from work and your normal grind. It's like being back in school and realizing that you get a winter vacation. Maybe you're shopping or you're just hanging out around the house. So as you're running around with your friends and grabbing drinks, think about super cute outfits that you can wear as you're out and about. You know that I love wearing tank tops year around so of course this is the perfect item that can be layered so that if you're just hanging out and it's hot or the heater is way up, you can keep having fun!

This satin tank can be paired with a pair of skinny jeans, over the knee boots and a simple necklace (huge fan of Agate). If you're having a casual afternoon, how about this amazing beverage Root. Enjoy it over ice or just enjoy it with a number of other mixers. Root is an old time alcoholic beverage that was the inspiration for root beer that we drink today. If you want to find out where you can get this, feel free to click the link! However you spend this week or NYE, make sure that it's super comfortable!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Style For The Holidays & Beyond

I am a firm believer in that there is no excuse to leave for an event or your home without feeling like you are dressed for the occassion. Whether you're just finding your style or attempting to rework your entire closet and your budget may not be where you would like it to be, you can still be someone that everyone looks at wishing that they had your sense. It's all about finding what works best for you and being able to translate that so that others follow suit.

When it comes to my style of dress, it's more of a classic one. My accessories are the areas that I definitely let my personality come out; however, my clothing involves simple, classic lines. Am I going to a Broadway show, out for drinks at the newest lounge or simply meeting up with friends? You never know and that's what I love about it. My day takes me to various places that are planned and unplanned and I hate thinking that I'm not 95% dressed for most occassions that I may be invited to at the spur of the moment (no I don't travel with a ball gown in my large bag). Today, I'm wearing the classic wrap shirt dress. Although mine isn't from Ralph Lauren (but you could be wearing BCBG's, Alexander Wang's or DVF's) and nor is it black (I'm in Navy), I thought that I would share my approach to getting dressed to provide the appearance of effortlessly putting an outfit together.

If you happen to like what I'm wearing or any other day, it's mainly because I know the shapes that make me feel comfortable. When you continue to buy the same items, you definitely have a large portion of your signature look and you never have to wonder how things fit. In fact, I build my outfits around my accessories so the actual articles of clothing are my standard basics that have classic shapes that have worked well over decades although I'm on 30 - if you love Mary Tyler Moore, Audrey Hepburn and many of these iconic dressers - you'll see that I too love them and include elements of their looks within my own closet.

I'm all about accessories and can't imagine leaving the house with a few of them on. Above are items that are not meant to be worn together (although you totally could) but can be paired with this outfit. When I'm at events like I will be tonight and people may not know who I am, how much easier is it to say "oh there's Kimmie, she's in the wrap dress with that gorgeous shell ring (I don't own one in black; however, the one in beige that I have has been the ultimate conversation maker and can be worn in all seasons). As many of you know, I am a HUGE fan of Ted Rossi's and I do feel underdressed if his python cuffs are not on my wrists (when I'm truly out for the evening, you will see me holding one of his clutches as well). I love the shirt dress as it is for all seasons; however, with the chill in the air, you will see me pairing mine with a stacked boot! These gorgeous boots are definitely a great way to elongate the leg and to give you a certain spring to your step. The wrap dress does come with a belt; however, I love emphasizing the waist and if you're wearing a dress where you can take your belt off, why not pair it with a wide one. Hopefully, it has an interesting buckle and something that draws the eye! Finally, although you will almost never see earrings on me (it's the one accessory I don't really like wearing) I encourage pop within accessories as well and love these by Bounkit Jewelry!

Now with this gorgeous black wrap dress you can stick with black accessories or you can add various elements of color! Today I'm in Navy and you will see me pair my look with brown! I love items that allow you to be a conversation piece and encourage people to come to you to chat. This is one of the most essentials of making it at an event and being a great networker. Once you wow them with your style, you can wow them with what you bring to the table. Style is just as casual as anything that you do in life. You may have to work at finding your own groove, but once you do it's second nature and this is a holiday gift that keeps on giving from now throughout the sidewalk and carpeted runways that you will hit. I'll see you guys tonight at the W at the Fashion 2.0 Fashion Trivia event where I will be one of the contestants for the Fashion Bloggers!

Treasure Tuesdays: Get the Sunkissed Look

I'm still in South Beach mode! I just got back yesterday and of course I still have a nice warm tan/glow so I can believe that I'm still there! What's the key to looking amazing when you're there or anywhere? Great accessories that look effortless. I am a HUGE fan of DVF as many of you know and I love the patchwork colors of citrus and blue that are worked within this dress. Don't let a lot of color confuse you when you're faced with this! Think about adding tones that don't fight the color and here I love the golden look - isn't that how we want to look? Of course, I think that Jimmy Choo is the perfect companion and I love the shape of the shoes (imagine when you're sitting an crossing your legs, this will look amazing). A simply necklace is perfect and this Swarovski piece from Objets d'Envy has not only been featured on the Today Show but is the perfect compliment! Longer days means that you may be going from a fab dinner to a night out so think about these sunglasses from Skyla, the perfect dusk wear as you wait for the sun to go down! Love the pieces and want them for yourself, simply click on the names in the spreadsheet and begin to get these goodies in your closet!
