Last night, the Billboard Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. As always, it's a star studded event - I'll continue to keep you in the loop on looks of ABC's Stana Katic (Castle) and Hayden Panettiere (Nashville) wore for music's big night! Roll over the above images to see who these ladies wore.
Last night I got home after another successful Style Tweetup at Linea Pelle, hanging out with THE Kitty Bradshaw who came to my event (ps Madison Square Park's open lunch area is a must to go to as we had a GREAT time) - I thought I would curl up and watch what was on my DVR, See Fashion Star and organize for my segment on Fox Baltimore on Tues. As I opened the door, Paul was dressed and said we were heading off to Audi's rooftop to enjoy the launch of the new space (Audi Manhattan has great views and I love that there was such an oasis for the event, fun seating and a taco truck - I even loved that you were able to mingle in the showroom downstairs until the golf carts brought you up to the roof) AND to see The Roots open the space with their music! I'm a huge fan of this group and have seen them live a few times but it was a no brainer, that I would be there. I love that we were standing right at the stage (Paul took some amaze pics) and jamming out (yes I slipped out of my 5" heels and danced with naked feet). Such a good time and yes I am truly exhausted at this point - happy weekend all!
As you know, the past few weeks I have incorporated Nichole Huntsman's Revolt Now Fitness into my workout routine as I can do it whenever and wherever I want to! I love that it's only 20 minutes or so and is great alone or added to whatever I think I should be targeting. I was asked the other day if I do anything else. I do yoga, pilates, a number of sessions at Exhale in Central Park South as well as a routine I have put together that I know works for me. I think it's important to always change things up so that your body can experience a number of workouts without getting tired of their repetitive nature.
With the weather warming up, I do love jogging as I live under 2 mins from the park as I am on the southern border of Central Park. Their famous Reservoir is a nice place to run as well as a nice scenery to take in. To keep my running focused, it's all about the playlist and what I use to hear my music on. Before I would use Spotify on my phone and have a special arm band - but sometimes I found it to be a bit cumbersome. Just the other day, (thanks to Klout, they just sent me a Sony 2GB W Series Walkman Meb Keflezighi headset which sits easily on my ears and wraps around my neck. In addition, I can add my music to this MP3 player so that I can keep a high intensive workout without any lulls!
We continue with looking at the Year in Review for 2012 and we had to share celebs that we enjoy highlighting. Over the past few months, Team Kitten Lounge has been obsessed with the flawless and effortless look that is Kelly Rowland. Although she caught our eye a decade ago as one of the members of Destiny's Child, we all love that she has not only come into her own when it comes to her music but also her style! With NYE being days away, you can take a nod from her look by having the fabulous diva glam look while also having dynamic makeup that showcases an emphasis on your eyes which are the windows to our souls!
At Glamour's Women of the Year Awards in London this summer (first row upper left hand corner), we loved seeing her sleek hairstyle, a silky black halter gown with a train by British designer, Maria Grachvogel. She simply paired this with silver hoops by Garrard with a fabulous nude lip and kohl rimmed eyes! In addition to rocking the red carpet, she received the TV Personality of The Year Award, for her time on ‘The X Factor’ as a panel member of the London version of the show.
At the American Music Awards, she stunned again on the red carpet in a geometric dress straight from the spring NYFW runway show of Naeem Khan! Once again we love her nude lips and kohl eyeliner - it's a great look and we love the simplistic and carefree look of her hair as well.
With her busy year, Kelly hit Las Vegas and signed her cover which features her on VEGAS Magazine's 9th Anniversary at Boulevard Pool at Cosmopolitan where she's stunning on paper as well as in person with her bodycon dress. Kelly also took a moment to host Grey Goose's launch of their Cherry Noir vodka in this stunning red dress as a number of celebrities and invited guests toasted this event.
As you head out to get together your key look for ending and ringing in the new year Monday night. keeping in mind the importance of a chic look that's comfortable to wear for a few hours where your key facial features are being positively highlighted are an absolute must for a great night!
Can you believe it? Tomorriw is Thanksgiving and we're thinking of all the yummy treats that we will be enjoying. But it's always about how to get where you're going. As many of us make the trek we should do it in comfort and he does so in some of my fave looks! I am obsessed with my Hoodie Buddies as sometimes I have left my headphones and love that they are sewn into my hood! So he can rock the same look and know that his music is secure, connect his instrument of choice within his pocket and let the music flow as he makes his trip to his final destination. As he waits, he can check the time with Nixon as well as staying fashionable. J. W. Hulme keeps everything together while also being able to look preppy cool (you can also borrow this on your next trip as it's perfect for overnight or a long weekend). His look continues to be relaxed with these PRPS jeans and fab UGG boots which continue the rugged look and as he waits, stay connected while protecting his ipad with Sandqvist which also accessorizes well with the bag!
We had a busy week this week! By mid-week we went back to the roots of Kitten Lounge (our devoted know that Kitten Lounge started as an Internet Radio show fusing music and fashion together back in 2001 in my digital music publicity days before it went to being a site in 2007) by heading to Webster Hall. CMJ (a huge music festival that brings a number of acts together) partnered with MoodSwing360 to bring phenomal ladies who rock together. It's a great chance to see people who are coming up, those who have re-launched and those that are already out there! We were pumped when we were asked to be a sponsor (hello see our logo on the flier) for this event as it was a powerhouse of women! Seeing Nina Sky (who I remember when I was repping music acts that were just starting out) being included as phenom DJ's that definitely bring the concept of music and fashion together. In addition, Lady Starlight (who has been Lady Gaga's DJ on tour and who came out last year to Lady Gaga's launch party for the Gaga Workshop at Barney's as she was in the holiday windows and had a number of items that consumers could purchase) also performed with a number of phenomenal acts - another fab fusion. With such a massive nice of phenomenal women, it's definitely a pleasure to support women who rock!
It has been an amazingly busy week and we're days away from debuting Shoe Week which has a number of events that will be included within its shoe focus. One of the many events include Sneaker Concert which is a sneaker event which will take place at XVI Lounge in NYC. This night will include sneaker heritage as well as premium ones! This event will have a number of your fave athletes as well as celebs. We can't share all the details but we can say that this event will mix sneakers x sport x music and of course fashion together.
Theophilus London closes Rebecca Minkoff NYFW FW 2012/2013
I love hitting the shows as you never know what you are going to get! As many of you know, Theophilus London is everywhere and I hung out with him this past summer while designing in Dominican Republic and enjoyed one of his concerts as well! Well, yesterday he opened and closed the Rebecca Minkoff show which was full of fun motorcycle jackets and great pieces you will want to rock later on this year
The picture above is courtesy of Diva Gals Daily - loved being able to chit chat with them more as I have seen them throughout this season's NYFW!
Today was the day that we celebrated the 4th Anniversary of Kitten Lounge! I can't believe that that many years have gone by! When I think about why I started, how I did it etc and what it has evolved to (being the face of a number of brands, collab designs with phenomenal lines and so much more - I get goose bumps just thinking about it) - I knew we had to have a time to commemorate it even when it's in the midst of NYFW! But there was no question that it would be perfect at Shobha which not only provided complimentary threading, fab additions to the goodie bags and a great music selection - but they also had their famous Shobharitas which we all enjoyed!
I loved being able to mingle with everyone from stylists, bloggers, magazines and one of my favorite stores! Some of us caught up from the last show, presentation, or seeing me at the Robert Verdi suite etc. Thanks to Pop Chips and Vita Coco for supplying goodies and everyone left spreading Shobha love with Crest 3D White, Covergirl, Cosmo Mag (since I am in the Oct issue), Elizabeth Grant, Birchbox and Havaianas!
When he hits the beach, he wants comfort and although I could think about all the themes I'm rocking in my look, his basics must be met. So we kept it super easy with "get me noticed shorts" from Vilebrequin, my favorite Havaianas by Michael Bastian, a hat (looking dapper in Paul Smith) to keep him from the shade and of course, rocking Mosley Tribes? Simple and he's able to head out for Beach Volleyball, laying out or swimming up to the bar! Of course this gives you the chance to rock his sunglasses and hat when he happens to be running around.
Who could forget one of my favorite moments at Coachellalast year when Jay-Z performed Forever Young and Beyoncepopped on stage! Who could forget her Chanel boots and cool style. If you have yet to make it to Coachella, it's the merge of a fun period time of music set in Palm Springs, CA (yes the desert) and has become one of those festivals where fashion also calls it home here as well. With that said (and coming off of SXSW), Kitten Lounge has some beauty musts that will keep you going throughout this amazing time!
Kitten Lounge keeps you ready to go and knowing that there are a list of items that you are allowed to bring on site, you should consider these as well. I'm loving that being refreshed is essential so stay hydrated with Hint Water which comes in a number of flavors without any of the icky sugars that you don't need! Stay fed with these super yummie Medifast Chocolate Mint Bars that are not only healthy but tasty! It's all about fab music whether you're pumped for PJ Harvey or Kanye West so stay fresh by keeping this handy Wet Ones in your bag so that you can stay dry as well as super clean. Pull up your hair in your fab messy bun with Goody's Starry Night Gentle Elastic Bands that aren't metal and can definitely assist you beyond when it's time to go to sleep! Finally, we all love belting out our tunes so keep a package of Ricola Fresh Pearls for a nice sweet taste while soothing your siren sounds for the days ahead!
We just came off the first week of February and I don't know about you but this weekend is going to be busy with dinners, parties and of course the Super Bowl. With so many things going on, good thing that DJ Eloy has the perfect mashup music video to get us ready for the next few days ahead with a little Stereo Love.
This Sat is a huge night DJ Eloy will be in Long Island doing what he does best - mixing video and music! Come to the Shore Club, info is on the invite. Make sure you leave your names here so that you can be on the guestlist. Loving that it's open bar until midnight so if you're in Island Park (this is one stop away from Long Beach) come out to see him perform. He's going to be super busy as his tour starts up and I may not see him again until Nov in Japan when a large group of us will be out there. If you've yet to go to his shows, you need to see how he gets the crowd moving and how passionate he is! The Shore Club is a fun venue and with amazing weather, why not take some time out? Hit the beach and then we'll club it up - dancing is the best exercise and the healthy glow you get is fab for the complexion tooD! Check out more about DJ Eloy here!
Sunday morning kicked off to a great start with my radio interview with Shoshi, the Luscious Lifestyle Diva. You can hear about how I got my start in the industry, my thoughts in fashion and what's going on with me! In addition, you can learn about Shoshi who is one of my favorite people!
Timbaland knows how to make a hit record and now you have the ability to have professional quality music that you can create at your fingertips! Beaterator, created by Rockstar Games, hit the shelves last month and is available to use on your PSP now and will be available on your iPhone and iTouch as well! Now you have a way to create your own beats and to include your vocals whether it's fun amongst your friends or you're trying to put together a song for the studios. Watch the video and once your song is created, you can export and share with your friends!
After a day of running around Home Depot (more on that tomorrow), it was nice to go to Bracco's in Freeport to enjoy drinks, oysters and to hear great music! This is a fun place to pass the afternoon while you decide what you would love to do for the rest of the evening! After 3 hours we listened to a solo artist and then a Jamaican band - both were great choices.
When the weather is perfect, you find reasons to be out and about with friends. With many people working various hours, it's fun to reconnect with those you work with or never see at some type of an event or a regular hangout. The 1st Annual Hudson Square Music & Wine Festival takes place every Tuesday through August 11th and is not only a great time to hang out, but from 5 - 7pm, you can enjoy music, bbq and of course wine that is brought to you by City Winery. It's a fun block party that you can always head out to before you head home or continue the night! Take some time to check out who will be performing each week and note that other vendors will be at this event as well so you'll want to check them out as well!
I remember the early days of growing up by shows. I loved Wonder Woman - you would find me running around with a towel around my neck and clanging my wrists together watching my favorite super hero getting the bad guy and looking fabulous. She was my walking talking Barbie doll who could do anything and be anywhere. Then you had my other two loves Charlie's Angels and Michael Jackson!
Forget about the fact that Farrah Fawcett was only in one season of Charlie's Angel's! I loved that she had that California girl next door quality. She was beautiful and yet it didn't go to her head - don't even get me started on her hair and the easy going smile! It was through her that I loved the idea of looking very put together and yet having that windswept look. Women to this day run to get that hair and easy sense of style. She will be missed and it's sad to know that I heard her pass yesterday morning!
Twitter was full of activity as a huge icon passed last night! 50 years old and with a tour in the works (I even read that he was working on a move that would eclipse the moonwalk or even his gravity defining lean) - Michael Jackson passed away. I'm from Indiana as is Michael and just to be clear, I am only speaking of him as an entertainer and performer - he was the best! He sang, he created mini movies with his videos and knew how to be true to his style even as it changed around him with the increase of rap, alternative and hip-hop! MTV gained a lot of their audience base from his "World Premier Videos". Yet, he continues to make these videos that everyone would crowd around the tv to watch as it premiered on MTV (although earlier in the day they would play videos about how fans loved him, previous material and more). He taught me a lot! It doesn't matter where you come from but if you have a gift, it can be shared and you don't have to work it into what the trend is - be your own trend. When it came to fashion, Michael, yet again had his own take. Who else could wear socks where everyone knew he had very white ones that his pants didn't cover? He made the arm band chic and yet added an element of military to it - what exactly was he fighting against? He made sequins cool and he knew that the right jacket - oh yes the Thriller jacket - could set off an entire look (I remember going to school with a kid with a Gizmo backpack and a Thriller jacket - he was the coolest of the cool in first grade). I sat at home with my View Finder flipping through the scenes of Thriller and always freaking out when I got to the part where he was the werewolf! But he knew about the power of theme and accessories! Whether he rocked black and white, a cool hat or a sequined glove, people rocked the style.
With so many performers that tip their hat to Michael, he will never be forgotten. His body of work will continue on with songs that continue to be relevant and placed in a period of time where we all suspended our disbelief! Farrah will continue to be known as that girl from next door who had just the right mix of sexy, cool and spunk that you would want as a bestie and at the same time as the crush that if you got up enough courage would say yes! RIP to two icons that exist within and outside of their generation!
So this weekend is a collegiate mamoth of activities! Little 500, which takes place at Indiana University (my university), is known as a good time which includes a bike race, tons of parties and great music! Since graduating, I try to go to as many of the Little 500's as I can and although today's weather in NYC is amazing, I am bummed not to be back in Bloomington for many reasons! One of them being the band that will be playing there this weekend (it may be tonight or it could have happened last night). Every Little 500 weekend, there is a huge act that plays. This year it's Soulja Boy and of course, someone opens the show! Via an insider at one of my favorite PR firms in the city (that I'm fortunate to not only work with but enjoy building a great friendship), she told me about Josh Cocktail and Danny Schwartz - who will be opening during this year's concert which is unofficially known as Rap n Roll! So today I am letting you guys know about this amazing group and I am sending them virtual love and kudos as they are truly amazing!!! I know that this song is untitled although they shoudl call it "Another Show" - can I just say that I have played this 20 this morning and the song is stuck in my head?
You guys have heard me talk about Paper Doll earlier last year. I love that this spunky band definitely reminds me of No Doubt and other bands that have great guys that are lead by a strong female leader. If you have yet to go to a show or (gasp) haven't heard of them, check out their fun video , Anything at All, which is not only relaxing but a great song to listen to when you're relaxing over the weekend whether it's reading the paper or sipping a glass of wine. Enjoy the video and then read an earlier post about this band to find out a few more details! Follow my blog with bloglovin´

Take a peek and I hope to see you there this Thursday!
This morning, I got up with a huge agenda of things to do and of course, I needed some music to set the mood. Via Twitter, I had the opportunity to meet @KevinWhalum who has an amazing jazz sound that's great to wake up to, work with and more. Of course, he is available on iTunes but you can also visit Kevin Whalum, to learn more about him! His new CD, One Life to Live has so many great songs on it! I love his rendition of 'How Sweet It Is To be Loved By You' and I also love 'I'm In Love'. It's great music that's easy to listen to and definitely sets the mood! Take some time to check it out and let me know your thoughts!
A few weeks ago, I received an email about Valslist and for those that know me, sometimes I get a little behind on my responses. Fueled by my new iPod, I wanted to put new music on there but sometimes, I have no idea and then I thought about Valslist! The beauty of this list is that Val, the creator of this list, created a site that optimizes your iTunes player. Whether you have no idea what you're looking for or you're thinking of themes, Val has you covered with multiple playlists to fit your need. In addition, you're able to find out about upcoming shows and to learn about new groups and what their sound is similar to in regards to groups that you may know! I suggest using this when you're loading your iPod or when you're giving an iPod as a gift. I am giving my mom an iPod this year and I have decided to load it up with a few items per the suggestions of Valslist. For me, I enjoy having a filter of items that can direct me to the best music while allowing me to still use the platform that I prefer, iTunes. As you click various links, you find that listening to music and paying for it comes back into iTunes! Take some time to check it out and if you're in Chicago, there seem to be a lot of shows in your area that you could check out!
Now if you have been following me on Twitter, you'll hear me saying that I am watching The Hills online as I am usually missing it due to football. One of the things that I love about this show is that I have found myself heading to iTunes after watching the show! It seems like The Hills always has a great song and even though you only hear a little of it, it makes you want to hear more! With that said, I was introduced to the Universal Motown's, modern rock band,Safetysuit's "Someone Like You", which has a great vibe and great lyrics to match. Although their first CD, Life Left to Go was released in May, this band has been on a mini tour making pit stops to continue increasing their audience. Although they have been playing with Puddle of Mud since the earlier portion of this month, this band got its start by coming together and focusing on their audience via grassroots methods - playing small venues and starting in their home base of Nashville. After listening to all the songs from their current CD, I have to say that the lyrics are simple, touching and just great to listen to. With so much talent coming from Nashville, it's nice to hear another band that has made it from the area with their great sound. To listen to other great songs, you can visit Safetysuit's site!
Ah the Christmas Albums, the other week I talked about Sheryl Crow and today I bring you Amy Grant! When I think about the holiday CDs, I do think of Amy Grant as she has made previous CDs within this genre. This CD is actually a best of holiday collection with four additional songs that have been added! If you have been collecting her music for years, you'll enjoy new song and if you have yet to include her within your collection, you'll love seeing what everyone has come to love about her gift. I love the fact that Amy comes back with her 25 year career to bring her spin on Christmas songs! Take some time to check out some of her songs and also visit her website to learn more about what Amy is up to.
