Fri morning, Paul and I left for Philly! This weekend is all about enjoying a number of Philly's cultural spots, checking out amazing designers, doing some retail therapy and taking in some hot spots of Philly as well! Thanks to the amazing team from Visit Philly, they sent me here to enjoy all of this and more! You can follow along with my adventures by following @Cocoabebe or seeing the hashtags #VisitPhilly #PhillyMade or my hashtag #AccessoriesWeekend! Yesterday, I enjoyed browsing in some shops, checking out a number of eateries Marathon (lunch) and The Dandelion Pub (dinner). Of course there will be full posts about everything but right now, I'm off to take in a bit of culture with a viewing of "Come See About Me: The Mary Wilson Supremes Collection" at The African American Museum in Philadelphia.
During NYFW I received an email inviting me to join Intel's Tablet Crew and yesterday, I received my Samsung ATIV Smart PC which is a tablet hybrid as it has many features that are very PC like! Although I have had it for less than 24 hours, I have enjoyed tweeting from it, using a number of apps and more! Since I will be heading to some shows later in the week as well as doing some red carpet tweeting, this is such a light way to combine the features of my PC with all the things that you love about having a tablet. Over the next few weeks, I'll share how this tablet works well with what I do from designing, tweeting and much more. For now, I've been working on getting used to Windows 8 (which I was sort of familiar with as I have Windows 7 on my Windows Phone) as I love the tile features and how it pulls all my information right where I need it so I can stay in the loop. At the moment, I'm looking at cases that are fun for my new tech must have which is longer than most tablets. You can also find out what I love about it by following my tweets on @Cocoabebe and @KIttenLounge with the hashtags #TabletCrew or follow me on Instagram @AccessoriesExpert to find more images!
What I'm loving so far is the a drawing program called Autodesk Sketch Program and I'm excited to take some pictures so that I can play with the Photo Editor. Of course I have some questions that I will definitely be asking, mainly - since I do have an HP Beats laptop and a HTC Radar (Windows Phone), shouldn't it be that it all connects? I made the mistake of not using the email address that is Live.com address that is used for my phone and I wonder if I had done that, would it have updated my content automatically on my computer? In addition, there are primary items like my calendar that I can't get synced; however, my emails are - but so far I'm definitely intrigued to find out more! If you have this model and have some tricks and tips, you can add them every Tuesday with the hashtag, #TabletTipTuesday.
Being from Indiana originally, I love sports in general and the Super Bowl is always one of my favorites to watch regardless of whether my team made it or not! In the past10+ years of me living in NYC, it also marks the proximity of New York Fashion Week for the presentation of Fall/Winter! But today, it's all about wings, potato salad, bevvies and more! Throughout today, I will be tweeting about a number of Super Bowl items so make sure to follow, @KittenLounge as well as @Cocoabebe. I can't wait to see what commercials are going to be our new faves and how the half time show will be (of course also seeing the winners of the game).
If you've been following tweets from @Cocoabebe and/or @KittenLounge, you know that we're taking Fridays and focusing on Fitness. Now this is not a foreign topic on Kitten Lounge as we have had a few times where we have talked about it on the site. But I think that just like I talk about the importance of looking amazing with accessories, it's so important to know that having fitness as apart of your life is essential. Now interestingly enough, I received a tweet asking why I want to lose weight - well it's not a weight issue per se. It's important to know that we should always be healthy whether you exercise a couple times a week or you do it more than that. A good focus on fitness is healthy so that you can have increased energy and just have appropriate fitness!
I am so excited that Fresh Diet is partnering with Kitten Lounge in a fun 31 day program! Starting on Aug 9th I will introduce you to a brand that allows you to decide the amount of calories you'd like to have each week, what it is that you would like to eat (3 regular meals and 2 snacks) and it is delivered to your home. Now many do use this to maintain their weight which is great and at the same time, I love the ease in knowing that I don't have to wonder what I will be eating and the items are already prepared. So throughout the week you will see me tweeting about @FreshDiet and what the meals are and how cute the deliveries look like. Then on Fridays, you'll get recaps of my fave meals, what workout routines that I have been doing and of course what I have been rocking (there are some super cute looks that you should rock when you're working out.
I am so excited that Reebok decided to outfit myself and my team in cute gear from footwear to apparel. I think anything that you wish to tackle should be done in a fabulous way! Follow our hashtag #KLFitness to hear what we're up to as we kick off on Aug 9th! With Fashion Week being around the corner, my focus right now is to do some toning up and after we leave Fashion Week, you can still come here each Friday to see what classes we're taking as well as tips from some of my fave celebrity trainers that I'm happy to call my friends. We'll also let you know about some of my fave snacks that are super quick to make but give you tons of energy! I hope you're as excited as I am about this installment coming to Kitten Lounge permanently! Once again, we're super excited that our sponsors Fresh Direct and Reebok are helping us launch our new segment!
Earlier this week, Paul Farkas (boyfriend and Founder of Social TV) and I were quoted again in Luxury Daily's post about Yves Saint Laurent Takes Vision to the Streets Via Stand Alone Magazine otherwise known as "La Manifesto". As many of us know, there are limited amounts that are distributed to various fashion cities around the world (2,000 per city) including NYC, LA, Hong Kong etc. Thanks to such fab insiders as Nitro:licious who updated locations throughout the day, you were able to get some clues on where to go!
Throughout the city, girls clad in black puffer jackets with YSL's logo on the front and "Manifesto" on the back ran around the city. As Paul went out to get breakfast this morning, he ran into someone in our building carrying the bag but by the time he got there, they were only handing out the campaign as there were only 100 bags per location. I received a call from him directing me to MoMA if I wanted a chance at snagging the bag. After chatting with the supervisor and confirming it, I walked down a few streets. As he met me, we later saw the team and there they were (along with some other fashionably clad girls who were also looking to get a bag!
It takes a lot to make me rush out of the house but of course, I do it in style rocking my Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Coach Poppy Leather Jacket and although it's not shown - I had a pair of Sebago's which is a testament to the fact that the Vineyard's allow you to slip them on and run out the door. Fashionable scavenger hunts are always so much fun and although we both enjoyed our totes (the top picture shows the front and back of the bag as well as the Manifesto), we decided that we would give away one of the bags to Kitten Lounge readers! In order to win a bag, make sure you tweet @KittenLounge and @Cocoabebe with what is worthy of a fashion scavenger hunt to you? Maybe there is that limited edition bag that is only at a certain store or you're going to a reunion. Whatever Fashionable Scavenger hunt is worthy to you to get up in the morning, let us know, include the hashtag #KLYSL and follow either twitter handle above! This contest runs through Fri March 11th at noon! The winner of the YSL Manifesto Tote and Campaign book will be tweeted out at 12:30 on Fri March 11th as well!
Tonight is one of the biggest nights in terms of awards with the 83rd Academy Awards for the Oscars airing and for those that love seeing as much glitz and glamour as possible, we'll all be glued to watching our favorite Red Carpet coverages. I'll be watching E! Red Carpet to get up to the minute access on all the dresses, accessories and more. Tomorrow, you'll see my faves and of course we will all want to know the misses which you can catch back on E! during Fashion Police with Joan Rivers! But in the midst of the show and programming wrapped around it, there are the parties. Whether you've organized something officially or are just thinking of it, we thought we would give you a hand.
As many of you know, Kitten Lounge started with a decor component and last summer, we decided to switch it out for other content. But based on comments, suggestions and fun partnerships - we're bringing it back. To get us back on track, we're presenting fab items from our fave stores that you can still run out and get some items to be Oscar watching ready! We love Pottery Barn, CB2, Crate and Barrel and West Elm! Although we don't have Williams-Sonoma, we're a fan of them too! You know that cocktails are an essential but when we think about nibbles you know that it's always a hit when it comes to cheese and sushi - or anything that you can just grab and munch on! It's nice to have an ongoing spread that is within reach so that you never have to look away from all the drama. We'll keep you in the loop on what we're loving as we will be tweeting from the start of the red carpet action and we will also let you know about people we love that are on the carpet covering live as well! Make sure to follow @Cocoabebe and @KittenLounge with the hashtag #KLOscars to stay tuned.
I am super excited! It seems like I have been talking about it forever but I woke up to 20 degree weather here in NYC and by later this afternoon, I will be rocking in 75 degree temperature and relaxing in my hotel room waiting for my HSN air date on Wed 23rd for my 2am, 7am and 3pm slots! It's another project with Sebago and I will take you through their cute collection that has been curated for their premier appearance! As always I will be providing behind the scenes images, videos and more. To kick it off, I wanted to give you a sneak peek of my carry on bag. For those who know about my obsession with Hello Kitty and my love of Matchta Cream Puffs by Beard Papa - you'll notice that they have a fun collab and I will be rocking this bag in the Terminal 5 Jet Blue section!
I no longer carry my Travel Cow Mookie with me when I fly, starting this year, I have Chompy the alligator who is apart of the beanies collection. Something whimsical to calm me down. My iPad is protected by my Rebecca Minkoff cover (and I love my matching coin purse). My laptop is also with me for items that can't necessarily be done on the iPad. I still keep it retro with a stack of magazines (and my need to scour through West Elm with a new apartment to furnish). I even have a little black book for quick topics to jot down, my lip balm that never fails me and of course a small assortment of product in my cosmetic bag - all FAA approved in terms of their size! Of course, I still have my iPod with me (charging) as well as my HTC phone so I am all set and teched out! You'll hear from me later on today and stay tuned by reading the posts this week about HSN and of course you can follow and tweet me @CocoaBebe!
So for those of you that may not be aware. Robert Verdi's Twitter Parties are insane. He invites a number of influencers who tweet about the products that he talks about within a theme. Last night, myself (@cocoababe), @fashionindie, @alywalansky, @liannefarbes, @thisthatbeauty and much more came together for fabulous treats and of course tweets at Robert Verdi's Luxe Laboratory (I will definitely be here during Fashion Week enjoying the space, recharging and more).
Robert Verdi tweets and the entire party is streamed live so that everyone can get in on the fun! Prior to the event, those in attendance tweet out to their readers so that you can hear about amazing items that you'll want or for the opportunity to win them. Last night, I tweeted about Conair (amazing bundle of goodies from them), Food Parc (loved their dumplings) and more. Watch the video from last night! Make sure to follow @RobertVerdi and to catch up on last night's tweets from a number of us that were there, search for #RVFW
Can you believe that it's officially the holiday season? We ran around yesterday to attend dinners amongst friends and family. Earlier this week we worked our tushes off to get as much done as possible so that we could enjoy the holiday. Now with all of that said, it's time that we get to have a bit of me time with some close friends. This Sunday (November 28 from 2pm - 6pm), we have a fun event that Kitten Lounge is the Media Sponsor for - The Sunday Co-Ed Spa+Salon+Tea Party (Tickets are $30 online and $40 at the door) at the J Sisters Salon in the Lime Light Market Place (20th Street and 6th Ave). Slated to be a fun Sunday series, why not kick off the first one with all of us in enjoying amazing drinks, nibbles and spa treatments. Enjoy it all in your bathrobe and slippers with a number of fab sponsors and yes - it is Co-Ed which is even better! If you want to know more as we have limited tickets available, we will have a Twitter Party later on today to share all the fun things that will go on. Then, we will also give away a pair of tickets so make sure to follow @Cocoabebe, @KittenLounge and to use the hashtag #KLBlackFriCoEd to get in on the fun!
Of course for those that are not able to attend, we will be tweeting live from the event so that you know what to expect for the next time that you're available to attend - follow the hashatg #SpaTeaParty!
The countdown to Fashion Week begins (if it hadn't already) but my week is packed with shows starting on Thurs, I will actually do some events on Wed! In addition, it's double checking my calendar in terms of where I will be, getting a number of appointments right before NYFW (spa, hair, interviews and more) kicks off. But there is a lot of running around to be done and last minute items as well. This past weekend we said goodbye during the last official summer weekend (although summer continues until Sept 21st) and as we finished the last of the BBQ's, it was even more important to take care of invitations that were coming through and to squeeze in items as necessary. With the temperatures cooling down, I love that I can mix my summer and fall. This fab look incorporates my love with grey in addition to my love for cardigans. All you need are fab shoes as well as amazing accessories. Get your bag and you can run around the city to take care of everything that needs to be there. You can follow where I will be from the shows, presentations, parties, new brands being introduced to the site and more by following the hashtag #KLNYFWTweetOut on @Cocoabebe (my account) and @KittenLounge! For those that are covering Coterie right after Fashion Week, strap in for some crazy days and thank goodness that after this haul, I will be rewarded with some time in Cancun and some time in the Dominican Republic to start an amazing adventure!
Today's spread has a lot going on in but it's serving as my personal check list and as always, you can click the links to see more about the pieces that I have selected. On Sat, I celebrated my 30th birthday and I'm actually in the Parker Ruffle Racer Top (you'll also see it in my reality episode as well which comes out later this fall) which is definitely a great staple year around but I love the idea that as the weather gets cooler, I can throw a blazer on! The cord blazer is a must in my wardrobe I love the texture and I love the details of it as well! I have a black blazer that has been so handy when I needed to round out my look. When it comes to boots, I tend to go for the over knee but every now and then I like a bootie and these are perfect. I have a few pairs of Colin Stuarts within my closet and I definitely want to check these off my list! I just got a new bag for the season and it is in fact the Prudence from Cole Haan! I love that it has a slender look but still holds my Jimmy Choo wallet, Flip, Blackberry, etc and the leather details - AMAZING! Finally, we have the Hudson Legging Jean, I don't have these yet but when I hung out with Casey, Hudson Jeans New Media & PR Coordinator at Hudson, (you can see a pic of her and I on the press page) in Vegas at the ENK Show, she was wearing them and looked stunning - so I need to get them! Of course I'm wearing a fab pair of Hudsons now that I have not been able to stop wearing for awhile now! Together this look can be worn to be very chic whether I'm at the runways, in the showrooms or just running around. Apart, they become great staples that will help in building your fall wardrobe! What are your key pieces for fall and how are you going to make it all come together?
You know that beyond talking fashion, I love keeping you updated on what's going on with my friends who are in the industry! Tasty Morsels Bakery has had a lot of success this past year and the year isn't even over! I feel so fortunate that in many ways, when founder and cookie baker extraordinaire, Crystal Horton and I had a chance to sit down and really learn about one another that I was able to learn about her business from the beginning. Since then, I've seen the cookies appear in the goodie bag for the Brooklyn Cancer Society's Pink and Black Tie Gala hosted by Stacy London, she was apart of Bust's Craftacular in Brooklyn and she was one of the personalities that appeared on the episode of the web based reality show, To Be a Star where she served as one of my friends in the industry who sat with some of the aspiring models in the show due to them winning this time with us.
Of course it was this same day that we bumped into @Aronado after we had finished shooting and somehow the three of us came up with the idea that he should interview her on his show StartUp Lucky which talks with those starting up their own businesses. Crystal is not only someone who has combined her love of fashion and baking but she's also done something that I'm super proud of. She has embraced Social Media and although she is learning the ropes and treading carefully, I love the fact that she is integrating this into her plans! You all know that I'm a huge advocate and I love that you'll see her out there sending tweets via @Tasty_Morsels Bakery. Watch this interview where @Aronado does what he does best - chatting it up and of course, I'm also throwing in my two cents as I play co-host! It was such a good time and if you have yet to enjoy her cookies, your holiday isn't complete without having them and since we have just signed off from summer - we're definitely in fall/holiday mode which is perfect for gifting! Of course you can always check out my friends and more by following me @Cocoabebe.
Last night was an amazing night for so many reasons! First I was able to me @db and @bsimi who I have sent tweets back and forth for awhile! There's nothing like meeting in person and then we were at Lily's Live at the Roger Hotel (if you see the installation art at 47th & Lex, this is where we taped! It was like the Today Show seeing people watching us!) for a fab cooking show that was very Iron Chef. As I sat with @db and @mizcity, we enjoyed hearing from the founders of @desserttruck as they made their amazingly fab Chocolate Lava Molten Olive Oil Cake and then a Lavendar and Peach Sorbet with Creme Fraiche! All I can say is that the smells were so intoxicating! How fun was it to be at a taping watching @rogersmithchef and feeling like we were on a panel! This taping series will be back in the fall so definitely keep an eye out and make sure to follow @rshotel
With the taping over, as I had no plans last night, we went next door at Lilly's Restaurant and enjoyed getting to know @db and @bsimi
. Earlier in the day I was fortunate to see StartupLucky (@URWingman was on there talking about being NYC's own wingman and helping guys in their relationships) so it was nice to see him and all of his energy last night. There were many people there last night at the bar but I have to say it was AWESOME meeting @nikisnotes and it's always nice to reconnect with old friends so I'm glad that @skyle was around especially since the last time I saw her we were in the craziness of Fashion Week last Sept! Was this all the Social Media elite of NYC - no but I definitely felt humbled to be in the presence of everyone there and I'm excited to get to know them and many more
Check out the video and if you're on twitter you can follow me and all of my shenanigans @cocoabebe and for those that I didn't include - sorry but next time!
By the time you're reading this I'm probably on the subway heading to Brooklyn to help set up for one of many Tasty Morsels Bakery's events! We'll be at the Bust Magazine's Spring Fling Craftacular at The Warsaw in Williamsburg, NY. First of all, I'll be Twittering (@cocoabebe) all day from this event and also taking some footage which will find it's way to On the Radar later on in the evening! Come out to not only support all the hardworking indie vendors but my friend and founder of Tasty Morsels Bakery - Crystal Horton (@Tasty_Morsels). We will be sampling cookies and of course you can buy some to bring home to your friends as well!
I have attended and assisted many shopping events but this is definitely one that makes me really happy to be apart of it - so definitely don't be shy in saying hello. I'll give you info about this event of course and you'll have tons of pics to enjoy. I can't wait to see you there and look forward to saying howdy and with it only being a $2 admission, it's a fab way to spend the day! We'll be there from 12 - 7 and look forward to seeing you there.
