Life just happens and continues to move on. The best that you can do is to continue "keep walking" as my friend says. When you have no idea what you're doing or how it connects, just keep moving - if you stand still you won't be making any progress. For me, I have been walking, talking and just being out there and the past year has been amazing with traveling, connecting and just opening up to people new and old. If it works - I keep it and when it doesn't, I guess I keep walking. In the pictures above are people that I am around quite a bit whether it's in person or digitally but they are just a sprinkling of the cornerstones of who I happen to interact with and who keep me sane!
It's not to say that this is the only people as there are so many people and yet only a few areas that I can place images. The people in these pictures as well as those who aren't here but know who they are have seen me through the good, the bad and the ugly. It's times like this when I just came off a week with so much stress and yet received the keys to amazing opportunities where I tend to reflect (it doesn't happen much as I like to keep moving). Take some inventory of what you're doing. When I see these pictures I see more than events and places but I see times when people helped me and when I was there for them. I also see the areas where more of this will be taking place and it makes me excited. Some people in this picture I have known forever ( my sister is holding her puppy Jimmy Choo (aka Tumbleweed) and this was at Christmas at my home) and some I've known longer (my girl Shannon and I hanging out in Vegas this summer with our shennanigans), others I knew of but it was when fate brought us together that we both got to see the other in a new way (Crystal in the left hand column and to the left of me at my birthday - you know I obsess over her cookies) and many of the people in the remaining pics I have known recently and yet we have bonded (Damien, Emily, Niki, Christina and Shoshi)! But all of them are people that I love and take in as members of my family and I never have to search to far to find someone to bounce an idea off of or to just rehash a story! I love you all and 2010 will be that much more amazing because you're there! Big plans ahead and it wouldn't be the same without you guys and those that didn't make it into the post!
I love it! Today, I'm resting from an amazing night out last night and since this is the first Sun of the football season, it has been quite a relaxing day! I'm so excited that people came out last night for my birthday from @db, @mizcity, @bigapplestyle, @tasty_morsels, @emilyspearl and @devintrix, @jakrose, @nikisnotes, @santagati and of course my non Twitter friends (meaning those who aren't on Twitter) Keren, Tessa (hubby John) and Oscar! It was such an amazing night at Sutra and a great way to ring in my birthday! For those who couldn't make it, you were there in spirit; however, one of my fave presents came from Crystal, founder of Tasty Morsels Bakery - check out the cookies and the one that looks like me!!! This is the best cookie ever!
Last night was an amazing night for so many reasons! First I was able to me @db and @bsimi who I have sent tweets back and forth for awhile! There's nothing like meeting in person and then we were at Lily's Live at the Roger Hotel (if you see the installation art at 47th & Lex, this is where we taped! It was like the Today Show seeing people watching us!) for a fab cooking show that was very Iron Chef. As I sat with @db and @mizcity, we enjoyed hearing from the founders of @desserttruck as they made their amazingly fab Chocolate Lava Molten Olive Oil Cake and then a Lavendar and Peach Sorbet with Creme Fraiche! All I can say is that the smells were so intoxicating! How fun was it to be at a taping watching @rogersmithchef and feeling like we were on a panel! This taping series will be back in the fall so definitely keep an eye out and make sure to follow @rshotel
With the taping over, as I had no plans last night, we went next door at Lilly's Restaurant and enjoyed getting to know @db and @bsimi
. Earlier in the day I was fortunate to see StartupLucky (@URWingman was on there talking about being NYC's own wingman and helping guys in their relationships) so it was nice to see him and all of his energy last night. There were many people there last night at the bar but I have to say it was AWESOME meeting @nikisnotes and it's always nice to reconnect with old friends so I'm glad that @skyle was around especially since the last time I saw her we were in the craziness of Fashion Week last Sept! Was this all the Social Media elite of NYC - no but I definitely felt humbled to be in the presence of everyone there and I'm excited to get to know them and many more
Check out the video and if you're on twitter you can follow me and all of my shenanigans @cocoabebe and for those that I didn't include - sorry but next time!
