Right before Fashion Week, I had the chance to head over to AhaLife's party to see the amazing collection by Bliss Lau! If you're a fan of Black Swan, there is definitely something of interest here. What a fun night and who doesn't love an unexpected performance?
We love that during Fashion Week we are introduced to amazing finds that we know we will want to wear for the next season! As I watch the shows, I take notes as this could be a look or an inspiration that will be incorporated into a post or an item that I will wear for an appearance. Generally, people don't have the opportunity to wear something straight off the runway and that is a limited edition! Today, AhaLife is giving you that chance with 8 clutches that will never be made in production and are only going to be used on a runway show that is going live today at 1pm! They will be sold exclusively on AhaLife starting this morning and is the first collaboration of its kind between a high fashion house and an online retailer.
At 9am this morning, you will see 8 clutches that will be worn during The Herchovitch show. Brazilian fashion designer, Alexandre Herchovitch will present the F/W 11-12 collection which incorporates the evening clutches. Throughout the show, there is a volcanic theme and these clutches are made of acrylic resin. The jewel-shaped clutches resemble rocks of lava with abstract patterns of vivid yellow, red and orange splashes on a black background. We're super excited to share this with you and think that they are phenomenal items to add pop to any evening look that you'll be rocking this season!
Don't think I'm rude if I walk by an amazing window display and have to take a moment to drool over the hidden treasures that are contained within or if I ask the cabbie to drive a block further just so I can see a display without having to have the cold interfere with my vision. That's what happens when you're always on the look out for amazing style. It's about telling a story about a great piece that was designed and how you transform it when you wear it and make it apart of your signature story. So last night after an amazing party at AhaLife and of course catching up on the Super Bowl, I was asked about what brands I liked. Well I could go on forever about the ones that are in my top 100. But the more important question could be, what are they making that I am loving right now and definitely want in my spring/summer wardrobe?
Overnight, I came up with 4 items that would be perfect in my wardrobe and that would be great staples. You can never go wrong when you introduce Roberto Cavalli to your closet. Instantly you emerge into a world of silky, sexy color that leaves you look amazing. This top can be paired with cute little shorts in the summer and over a pair of jeans. Don't get me started on his dresses which are absolutely amazing. It's a crime to leave your hand unattended and I have been a fan of the overall collection of Virgins, Saints and Angels - but their rings have always had a soft spot with me. I love the history that they represent and how it just adds a little something to the overall look. In addition, their line covers the very three themes that make up their name.
Yes I have talked about Christian Louboutin's for awhile now and when it comes to the top 3 pairs of shoes that I would wear with a number of outfits it included the black patent peep toe pump, a luscious blue hued python heel (originally seen in DR) and this denim knot pump. Anyone one of these three would be welcomed into my closet with arms outstretched! Finally, Carlos Falchi was my first interview back in 2004 when I started out with another blog so how can I pass up incorporating him into my collection? The east west bag is an amazing caramel color and is so roomy that there is no way that everything I need (from absolute to just in case) can't fit into that bag. This is a fab place to start and of course there are a number of items within these brands and of courses others outside of it as well. It's always good to know what you have your eye on when you're beginning to build or to reassess your wardrobe.
Last month there were a number of events and when it came to wearing pieces that would make me look my best while being super comfortable, I couldn't think of anything more appropriate then wearing Natori
! I love the draping of a number of pieces that are in her collection and fell in love with the cowl neck top (there is also a super cute version in a dress as well which will be in a future post) which was perfect to attend a tasting event as well as Usher's concert thanks to Proactiv. later in the week, I wore the gorgeous Kimonoesque dress which was a vibrant color to a fashion conference and then to a number of parties including Peter Shankman's Holiday party as well as Ahalife's! Definitely check out the spring and resort collection and when it came to accessorizing, I enjoyed pairing it with pieces from Linea Pelle and AMI!
Many of you know that I have been talking about AhaLife, a site that presents one amazing product a day that you have to know about! They have a number of curators such as Tim Gunn, Diane Von Furstenberg and myself! In factm today is the first day that I have presented something that is being included in today's great product line up! Check out more about The Skin that You're In to see what I am sharing with you! In addition, take some time to check out more about me via my profile on their site! It's a fun site to be apart of as you're guaranteed something new and fab in your inbox everyday!
Now right before Fashion Week, I let you know about AhaLife but as a refresher, it's a fun site that presents a new find each day that is only available on their site for 24 hours, These items are found by Curators (including such people as Tim Gunn, Diane Von Furstenberg and moi!) that work within various industries! I obviously cover accessories so when there is something that I have curate, I will let you know! In addition, I also shared the fab party that took place with AhaLife which was amazing as it was a way to see the various people that are apart of their community! I loved bringing Jeannine Morris personality and Editor in Chief of Beauty Sweet Spot, with me who is always my partner in crime but definitely one that I worked alongside with during NY Fashion Week.
Today, they showcase a product that I'm super excited about -- the Marchesa MiniAudiere Clutch which sold out last year and is back again! Now I'm not going to go into detail about this as you need to check out the site to read all the details! But what I can say is that I had the pleasure of holding this when I was chatting with the AhaLife team and I fell in love! What's not to love? I love that this bag is crystal embroidered and is done by hand (no two are the same) - but this year the bag is on another level as there is a quartz stone on the top of the clutch and of course it has the gorgeous diamond rings around it as well! This is so glam that I paused when I held it in my hands. I'm glad that Tabitha Simmons, fellow Curator and Vogue Stylist and footwear designer will go into more detail about this bag!
If you want a daily email about one new product featured each day, then you should definitely sign up as I have an invitation link that you can use for a limited time. Join the community and check out items that will be on your must get list.
Fashion Week is about more than just shows and presentations it's all about the parties! I was so happy to head out to the AhaLife party at their super chic loft space downtown! Now you know that I had shared some information about AhaLife on my post (you can also sign up to get your inside track info on fab finds) from earlier this Fashion Week but it was fun to be a in a room of so many influencers from various backgrounds! As a Curator (I will contribute fab items within an accessories category), it was great to be introduced to a number of people and to reconnect with friends. The top photo is myself and Shauna Mei (founder of AhaLife and I have enjoyed seeing her sit front row at a number of shows during Fashion Week). The second one is myself with Dana (in the middle - fab makeup artist) and my friend, Jeannine Morris, Editor in Chief and personality of Beauty Sweet Spot. Love these images and want to see a lot more, then you have to check out the link to see the entire event in images!
One of the things that people love the most about Kitten Lounge is the fact that they are introduced to items that may not be shared on a variety of sites and that they are available online. We love taking some items that may be apart of a trend but it is presented in a different way. It has been something that I have enjoyed bringing to Kitten Lounge and it is something that is apart of the platform of a new site, AhaLife that you should know about!
AhaLife is all about bringing various items to your attention but doing it in a way where you can truly focus on key items. Each day you are presented with something that is amazing and it is broken out by the fun themes that you see in the cube above. These items are introduced to us via Curators - influencers that know something about fab items. These people include such amazing people as Tim Gunn, Diane Von Furstenberg, Jason Campbell (from the JC Report) and myself (you know that I am a fan of accessories so sharing my finds with you - ah-mazing!
