Sundays are all about brunch even during NYFW! So I was super excited to head over to Yotel Hotel earlier this morning/afternoon to cover the backstage of Cesar Galindo (he designs for Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. collection) for his personal label, Czar as well as a number of additional designers who showcased their work! Backstage, I saw Dr Loretta's product at work! Having great skincare enhances and maintains the dynamic looks that come across the stage. I am a big believer in using them day and night so seeing them incorporated into the show and seeing the ease of use was perfect! Tomorrow, I will meet Dr Loretta herself and will share more information about this product and why it's a must have in your makeup routine. Simply put as the teaser for tomorrow - it's all about a great foundation!
While I hung out backstage, I got the opportunity to hang out with the Supermodel above, Lu Sierra (she has walked all the major fashion cities, is a walking coach for Miss USA and Miss Universe, has appeared on a number of shows assisting women such as Kendell Jenner from Keeping Up With the Kardashians and so much more) who has phenomenal skin, a sweet disposition and had a walk that made you excited about all things fashion! Dresses in Czar she had a fabulous kimono on with a number of colors that looked so decadent - fab show opener. She also closed the show with this phenomenal strapless dress with a gorgeous train. In addition, Eva of America's Next Top Model walked the show as well. On the lower right hand corner, Cesar is watching Eva adjust her look before she gets her picture taken and heads into the model line.
We've all had a moment where we either watch America's Next Top Model regularly or in a marathon. This successful show has blossomed into a worldwide franchise. Recently, one of my friends and designer Aiisha Ramadan was within one of the last three seasons when the last five girls of New Zealand Next Top Model flew to Abu Dhabi where her dresses were used in one of the challenges! Her pieces were gorgeous as always and although we are unable to see the shows here, I have stayed up to date via Facebook. With that said, Rosanagh, Bianca and Brigette walked the final runway show in World's "Good vs Evil" collection of the final episode in order to see who would take the title. Just like Bridgette won the episode with Aiisha Ramadan's designs, she also took the win for Cycle 3. I love the futuristic designs as it's nice to see pieces that are definitely ones that you would not see as you're heading down the street.
Oh Kittens how excited am I? Later on today I am going to meet none other than the amazing and gorgeous Nigel Barker! Not only is he a phenomenal photographer but if you've watched America's Next Top Model, then you have seen him there as well! He will be apart of a fun photoshoot taking place in the Meat Packing District with 40 top models in conjunction with Nine West, who is raising funds and awareness for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer! Nigel Barker will host a LIVE photo shoot with such models as Coco Rocha, Jessica White, Michelle Alves and more. You can see the shoot as it will be streamed on Nine West's Facebook Page at at Modelina as well! I'll be there tweeting and you can follow along by following Nine West's Twitter page.
Nine West's Runway Relief initiative allows participating models to wear the limited edition Nine West Runway Relief boot, uniquely equipped with an Omron GOSmart Pocket Pedometer (HJ-303) that will track how many steps each model takes while going from castings and fittings to shows and Fashion Week's hottest parties. Each step taken will equal a donation to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. In addition, you can get in on these shoes as a limited supply of the Runway Relief boot ($199) will be also be available for Nine West Facebook fans exclusively, starting on 8/31.
Today I will be running around and so my actual post will come later on today. I am heading to Beam Laser Spa for my third laser treatment for my underarms. In addition, I will be in Brooklyn interviewing Lisa Price, owner of Carol's Daughter and Dominique, former America's Next Top Model and winner of Modelville (she will be one of the spokesbeauties for Carol's Daughter). You know that I am such a fan of the line so I'm eager to sit down and do a little chat with them! So watch out for my tweets and Facebook updates!
One of my favorite shows is America's Next Top Model. I have had various friends that have appeared on this show and I just love seeing the challenges. My fave challenge - when they were on a building doing amazing shots and the one that skeeved me out, the meat challenge! Anyway, my belief with reality shows in general is that even those that don't come in number one, still win as they have a great opportunity for other companies to pick them up. My other favorite element of ANTM of course is Tyra - enough said! One of the amazing things that she did was create a show within her show The Tyra Show! This show, Modelville allows some of the previous cycle participants to compete for a model contract as a Spokesbeauty for Carol's Daughter. I have been a fan of this beauty brand and as you know, last month, I attended a presentation by founder, Lisa Price. She walked us through the holiday collection and created an aromatic potpurri that arrived just the other day. Throughout The Tyra Show, we have seen Bianca, Renee, Lauren, Dominique and Fatima compete for the $50,000 prize. Today, a winner is chosen! I have to say that Bianca is my favorite! Let me know your thoughts and make sure to tune in!
UPDATE: Dominique won the contract for Carol's Daughter and Renee became the runner up. There is a possibility that she could also work within the brand.
The rain was definitely a factor yesterday but when I opened my eyes this morning, I was glad to see that the sky was clear and the sun was shining. With the third day of Fashion Week underway, I put on my dress and headed out for the first show of the day - Tracy Reese. I first learned about her pieces seriously when I worked as a manager at Anthropologie. I fell in love with her line full of super feminine pieces and as this was my first show of hers, my expectations were quite high and they were met as each model hit the runway. I love the accessories that she paired with this show and the color pallete was perfect. The show was like varying elements of the perfect garden party with soft blues, pink, tans and pops of green with amazing coral. I think that the music that was used has to also be taken into consideration! I love that she had great whimsical music that was very loungy and then I heard Terrence Howard's new song! I wasn't sure but after getting it home, I realized that she included "Love Makes You Beautiful" - I knew that he was going to have an amazing song but it was absolutely perfect for this show. One of the final songs that was used was very upbeat and as the girls walked the runway at a slow pace, it was as if they were in slow motion and we were getting to see a little more of them since they never changed their pace. This show also included Andre Leon Talley (of Vogue fame, he is clearly seen in the third video to the left) and Ms J (many of you know of him from America's Next Top Model - is in all three videos as a cameo of sorts) as well. I was sitting across from them and included them in these video clips! Finally, for those that have never been in the tents, I wanted to let you see what goes on! Earlier this Fashion Week, you have been taken backstage (which I will have another show for your tomorrow) but in the tent itself all the photographers sit in one area and it's a little intimidating to see them all hanging out over there. In addition, the tent holds a lot of people - not only are people sitting but people stand anywhere they can to watch the show!
