A few years ago, I found out about LAQA & Co and loved that they had a nail pen which allowed you to paint your nails (which keeps your hands steady as you apply color). While I was doing appearances in New Orleans, I was flipping through my weeklies and found that this same brand had the Fat Lip Pencils! I love these - for the past few times that I have been on HSN, I have used these types of pencils to fill in the lip which creates a glossy look and then layer it with another gloss on top. I had to get more nail colors and test out this lip pencil! I will definitely share in a post next week about this but for now, the Fat Lip Pencil in Fairyblood (True Blood is coming on later tonight so I love that the name reminds of one of my favorite shows) and then Fancypants Nail Polish Pen in grey. As is typical of every Sunday, I love showing how accessories or beauty items become inspiration for an entire room!
I am such a Breakfast at Tiffanys, Doris Day, etc fan so this reminds me of a drawing room that I would love to have. Voluspa Candles is one of my favorite aromatic brands. I love that the outside of the tins are decadent and that they embody the hues of today's LAQA &Co colors. This tufted couch from Horchow is a great color that is a muted tone while being vibrant. Set up extra seating with this cubed ottoman also available at Horchow. Finally, this blush chandelier is the perfect way to tie this room together.
Can you believe that we are about to come into the last stretch with two of my favorite holidays, Christmas and New Year's Eve - right around the corner. In essence, it's saying a proper goodbye to the very interesting year that is 2011! Although I'd love to just think about parties and the fab gifts that I have been receiving at this time of year from friends and brands, I have to say that there is still so much work to do as I prepare for Kitten Lounge's Holiday Shopping Lounge which takes place next Sat at Ink48 as well as the launch of our second holiday gift guide for this year, Type L (Last Minute Guide)! Both of these are huge for the the Kitten Lounge brand for the end of the year.
Next year brings a number of amazing projects from the launch of my clothing line under my own label, an amazing collab with a jewelry brand that I talk about a lot on Kitten Lounge as well as my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 being available in select Bloomingdales as well as on HSN which I will be back on in March with! Of course I will also roll out a Fall 12 line with them as well which is taking the brand to an entirely new level with an entirely new design that I am pleased about. Of course as an Accessories Expert, there are a number of fab TV ops that are coming out that I can't share but I am super excited about. Obviously, there are a number of items that will be coming to Kitten Lounge as well so it's nice to see that all the brands will have something new for the new year!
With that said, Paul and I celebrate our 1 year together this weekend as we wear a number of hats together as a couple, him being my Brand Manager, etc but we need to have a proper vacation! Yes I travel a lot to a number of locations - many of them are beyond fabulous, but they are still for work in terms of designing, working with brands, etc. I know that the first two months of the year are so out of the question as we're in planning mode with events but I am obsessed with the thought of a reasonably open March and I am now manifesting - Turks and Caicos (pictured above). After having a fab chat with the Gansevoort in Turks and Caicos, I am now on a quest to get some downtime. What's not to love about breezes, relaxation and beach time? I'm also loving that in 3 hours, not only would I arrive but the inspirations that come from being in such a space will definitely get my juices flowing and give me an excuse to create new outfits and have a fabulous series of pictures for my return! Bound for 2012.
My world is full of a number of projects beyond just being the Editor in Chief of Kitten Lounge! The world of Kimmie is ever expanding with my spokeswork, styling a number of people as well as doing quite a bit of personal shopping. In addition, it's also all about my personal brand and designing. Although I have had lines under my own name, I am super excited about my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection. This not only allows me to share my love of leathers and shoes but seeing others rocking my K on their feet is fab! In a few weeks I will be putting a photoshoot together for this collection and for those that didn't attend the Meet and Greets, you can snag a pair yourself next spring at a number of stores including Bloomingdale's (select locations: 59th Street, Soho and San Francisco) as well as on HSN when I am back on air with them in March! With NYFW firmly behind me, I started out the week at Marchon Eyewear Showroom for yet another fun Accessories Council Tweet Up. This one focused on items that give back to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and also highlighted a number of gifts that are apart of this year's Shop Pink 2011. This was a fun way to get our hands on a number of products that were in accessories as well as in beauty categories. Some of these items are ongoing products that are available while others are limited editions. I wanted to share with you some of my faves within beauty and tomorrow, you will see some of my fave accessories that were included! It was a fun and impassioned evening as many brands told their personal stories as well as Myra Biblowit, President of BCRF chatted with us to kick off the night and popped in throughout to share additional information. As someone who had been diagnosed at a young age to possible have breast cancer (thankfully, I took a second and third opinion to find that this was not the case), we have always on Kitten Lounge and all my projects, supported this effort in any way possible. Like many of you, my mind is in pre-New York Fashion Week mode. But prior to that, there are so many options that I have to think about and prep for. In a few days, I will be back in Tampa for my 3 appearances on HSN as Sebago's spokesperson. There are so many things that travel with me in terms of beauty and there are items that have to come along with me in my bag. Now many of these items are things that you can find in my bag everyday. To start with, I'm lusting after Lena Erziak's amaze grey Brad bag! I love that it has that great zipper detailing in the front with a large tassel. This would definitely be something that I would rock running in the city while also heading to JFK.
In my bag are some of my obsessions. I am a HUGE fan of Dior products (even prior to hosting an event at Bloomingdale's in conjunction with Dior Beauty) so my lashes are always primed with Dior Show Maximizer which goes on white and then dries. Then, I apply Dior Show Mascara as I love making them look larger than life. Recently, I fell in love with Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss (especially in Moi). The biggest thing that attracts me to the gloss in addition to the color is the applicator which is not a brush but a stick - I have even used it at shoots. Laura Geller's Baked Glow has been one of the things that I have loved for years and I have a few of her eyeshadows as well. So the idea of having it as a body frosting for those subtle hints of flair - amazing. Finally, it's always a good idea to ensure that you're shine free, I am a huge fan of Boscia's Green Tea Blotting Linens which are super slim! This is the perfect way to navigate any city and to have your beauty booty traveling with you at all times.
Whether you do casual Fridays or you just like to be casual, there is no need not to have a sexy look at the same time. Yes it's Black Friday and with all the deals that are going on, this is a great excuse to start changing your look. You know I'm all about skinny jeans and a simple tank - who doesn't love the cardigan that is elbow length. A pop of yellow is a fun way to look cheery even when the days are a bit overcast. Add a cute bib necklace which has elements of vintage mixed in. Add a sexy femme edge with an over the knee boot (I love this pair) and of course a lush bag is a nice way to add a conversation piece that ensures that people will love you coming and going.
