I love to read I was the kid that every other weekend I would go to the library and get 8 and 10 books at a time only to come back the following weekend checking out the same amount. Even at a young age (I'm talking 6th and 7th grade) I fell in love with thrillers (not into scary and gory) such as Daphne Du Maurier's "Rebecca" and Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray". I love everything about books like that that start to tap into the psychology of why someone does what they do and humanizing characters in a way that you may have never seen them - only to be shocked by the ultimate "whodunit" of someone else! That's even why I fell in love with Alfred Hitchcock movies as well!
Unfortunately, I don't read as much as I would like to so going on a press trip or a tour is great as I'm able to pick a book and to curl up in the skies and to immerse myself in another world. Prior to me leaving for Mexico I was sent Brenda Novak's, "Killer Heat" and not that I want to give it away but I love a story with many layers. Although we are introduced to Francesca who drives a BMW, rocks Gucci sandals and solves crimes as a PI - we realize that the case she has been working on is apart of a larger web. A web that will allow her to question her partner who plays a roll in her past, a best friend and another family whose past has also caught up with them. I started this book coming home on a flight from Mexico and finished it this morning. Now through Oct 5th, if you purchase this book (log onto Brenda Novak's site for details), and send in the receipt for this book, you will receive a free lip gloss from Three Custom Color in the shade of Killer Heat (cute right)! It's a great way to look fab and to be introduced to Novak's work which now I believe is the perfect book when I hit the air again!
