Treasure Tuesdays ~ My Signature Color is Cocktail Ready

I became a pink girl a few years ago and slowly but surely, it finds its way into a number of my outfit selections! When I have an event or do certain appearances, this color of my brand is one that you'll see me wearing more and more to a number of events! It's also fun after a long day of being out and about - to be able to go straight to a night out with friends and family! With that said, my signature color is always ready even when I just completed something for business.

MY SIGNATURE COLOR

I've been a huge fan of Versace for a number of years. Although they are known for their iconic prints, there are a number of other swoonworthy pieces that are of note including this laced dress in a vibrant hue! I love a classic sheath dress as it's a style that's always on trend and compliments so many shapes. For me, this style compliments and showcases my curves well.

ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK

This look needs a few pops of pink, yellow and gold as a great way to enhance this color without adding a number of dynamic hues. Roll over the images above to find out how Judith Leiber, Deborah Pagani, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Robert Clergerie, Larkspur & Hawk.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ NYFW Must Have Accessories

My tech is pretty important to me no matter where I go but during NYFW it's such an essential that I double check to make sure that I have everything. Although I'm so fortunate to live a few streets away from Lincoln Center (one of the areas that NYFW takes place), I can't bank on being able to swing by my apartment when I'm off to shows, presentations, gifting suites and so much more. So I ensure that everything is not only fashionable but I can run my office from anywhere and still hang out with my girls as we touch base between sushi and cocktails (love TB'ing with Raijean, my sister, Makeda, Kitty and more).

So to stay fab and connected, I suggest the following! Like many my iPad allows me to do a number of things from staying on schedule, taking notes, taking some pics etc. Keep it fab by including it in my Linea Pelle (love that they are sponsoring me this season and that you will see me rocking their bags, belts and of course my case) Dylan Croco iPad Case. I'm not an orange girl per se but it's Paul's fave color and I love rocking hues that he loves seeing. I love the Go Smart Stylus which allows me to work on my iPad without using my fingers and to accurately selecting what needs to be done. As I never know when I'm traveling, my passport is always on hand and I enclose it in a vibrant holder by Lodis. All of this can fit into my Bottega Veneta bag which is a fab hobo in a caramel color.

My key accessory is a scarf and I love this one by Guess that works well with a number of looks or if there is a slight chill in some of the presentation areas. I am a huge fan of sunglasses and love this retro oversized pair by Miu Miu. Since I love to do touchups or to build upon a look, I always bring a few more cosmetic items than normal and this cosmetic case maintains a great pop of color by Givenchy cosmetic case. Finally, it's all about a fab wallet as you'll be pulling it out a number of times for whatever reason - no need to stop accessorizing, love this one by Alexander McQueen.

UPDATE: We have a special giveaway for our bloggers - Go Smart Stylus wants to give 4 of their fab instruments away! To enter to win, you must leave a comment below that includes your name, your blog and your Twitter handle. 4 winners will be selected to receive the Go Smart Stylus which allows you to navigate your tablet! We will announce a winner on Feb 7th (the first day of NYFW FW2013).

Snazzy Sundays ~ Winter Escapes

With the hectic holiday coming up, you have to do some mental escapism. We were checking out Anthropologie (our favorite store) and found some items that would be perfect. We love this tent (the floor is not included) because you can create your own oasis. Imagine being on an island and prior to arriving, having a team add a floor to the bottom of the tent so that you could move furniture into the space. Check out the inset as the inside has that warm carnelian hue on the walls. If you're floating within a tent, you want lounging furniture, fun pillow pops and of course, you want to have a few mixed cocktails so why not continue the orange hues within this fab Kumquat Pitcher! I believe that the final layer is the perfect bikini and this Missoni as well as fun Quiksilver board shorts for him!

Fashionable Fridays: LA Edition ~ Muscle Beach Fitness

There are a number of things that I loved about this trip as there are so many things that took place while I was away! Soon there will be developments that I can share but until then, above are images of some of the last moments of this fab trip! Every morning that I got up, watched the sunset, sunrise etc I saw everyone working out across the street. Apparently, I was enjoying watching Muscle Beach which is an iconic and historic area. I love the fact that there are so many places that you can exercise and people take it super serious! So I wanted to see it in person (which many images came from there). I also wanted to re-see a number of items that I loved. We headed back to Soda Jerks where I had an amazing Rootbeer Freeze and I got to see the carousel all over again which is yet another historic portion of items that are in and around the Santa Monica Pier. I do wish that I had made it over to the steps that everyone exercises on but next time! Being in this area makes me want to slip on my Reeboks and kick some serious butt (once again, next time). Having all of this steps away from my hotel (Santa Monica Loews).

With only a few hours left of the day before heading back to LAX, we went back to Bruno's and had a phenom Italian meal. We started our trip here and ended it here with a yummy glass of Chianti and lasagna! The night before, I loved having a sexy dinner of sushi and cocktails at Wokcano Restaurant & Lounge. I'm so excited to continue coming back to this area as it's nice to be a little outside of the hectic activity of LA (I live in the heart of Manhattan so anytime that I can step outside of hustle and bustle it is welcomed). What a fab place to stay as Santa Monica is super chill and I want to know a lot more about the area too!

Swoonfest Saturdays: NYFW SS12 ~ Prism Presentation

So much for the weather report that threatened fashionistas everywhere with the possibility of our biggest series of days of getting rained out! Today, temperatures rose and my sister, Paul and I headed to Le Bain at the Standard Hotel. As the sun beat down on us on the deck and the astro turf, we were treated to a presentation by Prism which included vibrant bikinis, bathing wear for men and sunglasses! The models sunned and baked on the waterbed pods and even had a hot tub to jump into. Guests enjoyed Svedka Vodka cocktails, crepes with various options and mini popsicles in cucumber, beet and fudge. It was definitely fun to mingle with others and then head downstairs to the Standard Grill to enjoy a few beers and to cool down from the heat.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ His Style Jets

Don't tell me that there is yet another blizzard like warning? We've gotten a lot of snow on the Northeast and I know we're not the only ones I'm sure. It's the kind of weather that makes you want to leave your normal surroundings and to hit the road! Whether you're going upstate to go snowboarding or heading for a long weekend in Miami, you have to be cognitive of the weather and still dress warm before you're heading to the next location. I love this look as guys look super cute in sweaters like this, they can pair it with simple straight leg jeans and have a great pair of shoes that can be rocked year around! Top it off by adding a great bag to store your items or your significant other! There are many looks that you can rock but why not start with this. If you're doing a staycation weekend, this is still perfect for brunch or afternoon cocktails.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Spend It & Rock It

Whether you work for yourself of for someone else, I have come to find that Sunday is still the universal vegging day and when it comes to the summer you still want to have a way of relaxing while optimizing. Living in Long Beach, I tend to make sure that my Sundays mean that I am in my town but there are times that I find myself in the city just like any other day in the week. My Sunday attire is typically simple so weather I'm in the city or in my beach town, these fab accessories can work well back into my outfit. I love Marc by Marc Jacobs and have been rocking his large sunglasses for about 2 years now. I think that I want to add to my collection with a pair of his aviators! I'm always wearing Havaianas as they are always easy to wear and pretty much go with anything I tend to wear! I love this pair as I have to rock the Brazilian flag on my feet. Finally, my rings are always important and I love this one as turquoise is the perfect stone year around but I definitely love seeing it in the summer or anytime it's warm!

What do I like to do? When I'm staying in at the beach, we tend to go to our amazing bagel spot earlier in the day and at night (if it's nice out) we talk a walk from Long Beach to Lido Beach to stand in line at Marvel Dairy Whip. I used to be a huge Carvel fan but not anymore. I think it's super fresh, the employees are always cheerful and at night if you drive over (rarely do), you can sit in the back of your car enjoying your icecream and seeing everyone getting icecream. It's my favorite part of a Long Beach summer! When I'm in the city and I plan on staying over with friends, then you have to do the sidewalk experience. Nothing compares to a summer city night where you began your evening at sunset and you're still chatting until nearly midnight soaking up the weekend! When this happens, I love Ayza Wine and Chocolate Bar which is in Midtown. There are always people at this wine spot and they have great nibbles as well. With various promotions throughout the week, it's nice to take some time to just catch up on whatever you couldn't during brunch!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Women's Health Awards & Lush Event

I joined fab beauty bloggers yesterday at the Nest Loft to see the amazing items that won in Women's Health Magazine! With so many products laid out in front of us, it was a bit dizzying but with a fab goodie bag, I can't wait to share with you the items that won and also which ones I absolutely love! Some are in my beauty regimen and others I will definitely be popping in! It's always nice to go to an event when you can get a mani/pedi, nibbles, cocktails and mingle with friends.

Right after leaving the Nest Loft, I headed to an event that seriously made me change everything in terms of beauty! Lush Cosmetics threw an amazing blogger event that made me realize that they are more than bath bombs. For the many fans that are already familiar with this let me say, that I've clearly been the one in the dark! As I hit their store on 14th, I realized that they had a number of lip scrubs (that are edible), lotions, masks and more. Everyone that attended the event in terms of employees of the company were knowledgeable, patient and really embraced their love of the brand and shared how it extended to other portions of their lifestyle. The focus of the launch revolved around their new Colour Supplements which provides a flawless finish and yet doesn't have the chemicals that can be harmful for your skin. I truly enjoyed playing with the moisturizers (I received the Imperialis) and really looking at the products and their presentation! Clearly I have been out of the loop and I'm so glad to know that there is a company that is so committed to good health and reducing the clutter by making many of their items in such a way that there doesn't need to be a package! Future posts will talk about the products I received from this event, ease of use and any new items that I begin to use!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Style For The Holidays & Beyond

I am a firm believer in that there is no excuse to leave for an event or your home without feeling like you are dressed for the occassion. Whether you're just finding your style or attempting to rework your entire closet and your budget may not be where you would like it to be, you can still be someone that everyone looks at wishing that they had your sense. It's all about finding what works best for you and being able to translate that so that others follow suit.

When it comes to my style of dress, it's more of a classic one. My accessories are the areas that I definitely let my personality come out; however, my clothing involves simple, classic lines. Am I going to a Broadway show, out for drinks at the newest lounge or simply meeting up with friends? You never know and that's what I love about it. My day takes me to various places that are planned and unplanned and I hate thinking that I'm not 95% dressed for most occassions that I may be invited to at the spur of the moment (no I don't travel with a ball gown in my large bag). Today, I'm wearing the classic wrap shirt dress. Although mine isn't from Ralph Lauren (but you could be wearing BCBG's, Alexander Wang's or DVF's) and nor is it black (I'm in Navy), I thought that I would share my approach to getting dressed to provide the appearance of effortlessly putting an outfit together.

If you happen to like what I'm wearing or any other day, it's mainly because I know the shapes that make me feel comfortable. When you continue to buy the same items, you definitely have a large portion of your signature look and you never have to wonder how things fit. In fact, I build my outfits around my accessories so the actual articles of clothing are my standard basics that have classic shapes that have worked well over decades although I'm on 30 - if you love Mary Tyler Moore, Audrey Hepburn and many of these iconic dressers - you'll see that I too love them and include elements of their looks within my own closet.

I'm all about accessories and can't imagine leaving the house with a few of them on. Above are items that are not meant to be worn together (although you totally could) but can be paired with this outfit. When I'm at events like I will be tonight and people may not know who I am, how much easier is it to say "oh there's Kimmie, she's in the wrap dress with that gorgeous shell ring (I don't own one in black; however, the one in beige that I have has been the ultimate conversation maker and can be worn in all seasons). As many of you know, I am a HUGE fan of Ted Rossi's and I do feel underdressed if his python cuffs are not on my wrists (when I'm truly out for the evening, you will see me holding one of his clutches as well). I love the shirt dress as it is for all seasons; however, with the chill in the air, you will see me pairing mine with a stacked boot! These gorgeous boots are definitely a great way to elongate the leg and to give you a certain spring to your step. The wrap dress does come with a belt; however, I love emphasizing the waist and if you're wearing a dress where you can take your belt off, why not pair it with a wide one. Hopefully, it has an interesting buckle and something that draws the eye! Finally, although you will almost never see earrings on me (it's the one accessory I don't really like wearing) I encourage pop within accessories as well and love these by Bounkit Jewelry!

Now with this gorgeous black wrap dress you can stick with black accessories or you can add various elements of color! Today I'm in Navy and you will see me pair my look with brown! I love items that allow you to be a conversation piece and encourage people to come to you to chat. This is one of the most essentials of making it at an event and being a great networker. Once you wow them with your style, you can wow them with what you bring to the table. Style is just as casual as anything that you do in life. You may have to work at finding your own groove, but once you do it's second nature and this is a holiday gift that keeps on giving from now throughout the sidewalk and carpeted runways that you will hit. I'll see you guys tonight at the W at the Fashion 2.0 Fashion Trivia event where I will be one of the contestants for the Fashion Bloggers!

Trendy Thursdays: Project Detox ~ Cocktail of the Senses

In an ongoing series, Keren Weinstein, our Guest Life-Balance Editor, took a much needed trip. More than the need to go on vacation to a new locale, she wanted to find her own sense of balance and thus Project Detox began. Last week, we arrived in the gorgeous Desert Oasis of Tucson and today we continue with an interesting cocktail!

For me, the best part of the journey on the Loews Ventana Canyon (LVCR) ‘Window Trail’ (and the rest of the resort grounds) was the cocktail of the senses that seemed to bathe me with every step.

Healing. Organic. Aromatherapy.

…and I was soaking up every drop allowing it to hydrate my soul.

With 66 different types of plants and cacti native to the Sanoran Desert, identified on this trail, I was not only inspired visually, mentally & spiritually, but I also did much of my exploring closing my eyes and following the scents. According to LVCR, when they built the resort they relocated 3,500 cacti to preserve the natural environment. Nothing was destroyed. All was left for Me to enjoy.

Take a NYC girl that is obsessed with picking her own fruits and vegetables. Put her in the Sanoran Desert Oasis at the start of the bloom season for the Prickly Pear Cactus. Watch how quickly she finds ways to experience this fruit bearing cactus.

Thanks to my new “Old Pueblo” friend (Emilio the taxi driver/tour guide) I discovered a lot about this multi-use South Western Gem.

The Prickly Pear Cactus one of the most widespread cacti on Earth, with over 100 species, is edible, medicinal and is the state plant of Texas. The pad called ‘nopales’ is a signature vegetable for Mexicans that (raw) tastes like green beans or asparagus. It is eaten in many ways from raw, pickled or sautéed with garlic to scrambled eggs, salads, salsa & many Mexican dishes. The ripe prickly pear fruit (“tuna”) is sweet & juicy can be diced as toppings for yogurt, blended into a smoothie, made into a gelato, syrup, jelly, candy, alcohol, flour & tea. Low in calories & fat, it contains many essential vitamins and is rich in antioxidants.

Some herbal medicinal uses are believed to be for diabetes, cholesterol, colitis, viral infections, for first aid or as a mosquito repellant. Emilio tells me that people even eat Nopal prior to drinking to prevent hangovers.

If we are talking drinks, you must try the Prickly Pear Margarita at the LVCR Flying V Bar & Grill or their Cascade Lounge – Yum! I love how the LVCR infuses the indigenous nature into the character of their resort leaving you with a very unique experience.

For a more holistic approach to hydrating & mood lifting, the ‘Sanoran Desert Ultimate Rehydration Polish’ body treatment at the Loews Lakeside Spa gets you all ‘wrapped up’ in Prickly Pear. Since Project Detox was kicked off to infuse balance into my everyday life, clearly I had to get the bottle of the Prickly Pear Jojoba Body Butter that they use in this treatment from the Spa’s Boutique so that my body and soul can ‘drink’ from this hydrating cocktail.

Next round of cocktails on me.

Mingling Mondays: Cinco de Mayo is Tomorrow

Cinco de Mayo is always a lot of fun to get a few friends together and to enjoy a great party! Fortunately, I received a great tip about a restaurant that will have great food and drinks from 5 - 7pm! Not only is Elizabeth included within our Beaches, Backyards, Roofdecks and Barbecue Guide, but it is one of my favorite picks for a night out for Cinco de Mayo. Elizabeth is known for its Outdoor Garden which will be "the spot" for the big festival tomorrow. Enjoy .50 shots, tequila flavored sorbet/gelato and tacos - and yes $5 Taneto cocktails. I will defintiely be here and I can't wait to see what goodies will be in the Pinata as well! This is a great way to kick off May and even if it's rainy, the specials will more than make up for it!

Snazzy Sundays: What's Your Fusion?

Oh please let today mean that there will be no cold dips in weather! Today was really toasty and it made you want to get out on your balcony to have dinner! I love fusion restaurants so why not have a fusion table setting? Add an element of a tropical vibe (love the leaf place mats) with something of an Asian vibe with amazing plates and we all know that appetizers are an essential to nibble on while we wait for dinner. With a few drinks on the menu (or just some wine), you're all set!

Tonight, I am going to head down to Atlantic City where we will eat at PF Changs (I loved this back home), we are staying at the Tropicana, we will hit a few clubs at the hotel (I am going as a Geisha), and then I am so excited about the fact that I will wake up to yummie room service in the morning, a spa at BlueMercury for a Coconut Sugar Body Wrap and lunch at Carmines! This is going to be a great Halloween and I can't wait to send you all the details and to let you know everything that happened. Kitten Lounge Loves Lucky Shops

There are certain times during the year that I absolutely love to be in the midst of shopping mania! One of them is when Lucky Magazine holds its Lucky Shops event! I love going and checking out a variety of items that are greatly reduced while enjoying some cocktails. Each fall that I have attended, the deals have been better and I have walked away with some great finds and awesome goodies to go with it (I am still giddy about my Tory Burch bag and the most amazing CK seamless panties - TMI I know but I love them so it's ok). This year, Lucky Shops will be at the Metropolitan Pavilion on November 7th and 8th. This year the denim bar is back thanks to Lycra and of course Singer will be there for complimentary hemming. Lucky's "The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Look" will be available for purchase and I love that Benefit will have a Brow Bar. With so many giveaways available and more, you'll want to get your tickets to be apart of this. In addition, the lovelies at Lucky Shops want to give you a little love so we have a giveaway for the coveted goodie bag! One of you will win this bag stuffed to the brim with goodies by visiting the site and providing comments here on the following question: Tell me why you like Lucky Shops and what you hope to get while there from the vendors that will be attending this shopping event. Those with the correct answer will be randomly drawn. Winners will be announced on Oct 24th! If you're going let me know and I'm sure I will see you there!

Sippin' Saturdays ~ The Perfect Mojito

RmI remember when I tried my first Mojito and I thought that I had found my signature drink. Oh fickled taste buds, the love affair didn't last. Somehow I returned to my Gin and Tonic and wondered if I would find a signature drink that I wouldn't stray from. Well, this weekend, I will try to make Raspberry Mojitos which may in fact be my drink for the summer and hopefully a hit at many housewarmings, game nights and more. I am always excited to try something new and this drink recipe and many others, are available on Cocktail Times which is my go to place for the best drinks and meals that you would want to incorporate into a future function! AmericanteaCan you believe that June is almost over? Fourth of July is days away and so you have to think about what you're doing, what party you will plan and more. Well here is a drink that you could make for your guests during your party - American Patriotic Tea! I love that this recipe on Cocktail Times is one that you can modify with a variety of flavors! If you love this recipe, you'll have to visit the site to find a lot more that would work with a number of dinners, events and more that you'll host! For me, I would add raspberry liquer in this as well as I think that that would be a refreshing flavor. I think even adding in a molasses taste would be nice as well. So definitely try it like this and then let your creativity kick in!

AMERICAN PATRIOTIC TEA RECIPE

Ingredients:

- 4 cups water

Stir in 2 cups of American Honey liqueur. Serve over ice.

Sippin' Saturdays: Crave Ceviche Bar

MainWhen I was in South Beach, I fell in love with ceviche. This is a style of food that is Latin American food that typically has lime juices, chopped vegetables and more. It is refreshing and perfect to have with cocktails and wine. Well there is a place in Midtown East that has focused on this style of food! Crave Ceviche Bar brings SoBe to Manhattan and is refreshing! Earlier this year due to a crane accident, various shoppes and restaurants were affected and closed temporarily. Now that we are in half day Fridays, this is a great place to visit and to support as it has a great clean and minimalistic look and is perfect to go out with friends to relax. Take some time to check out their restaurant and visit their site to see what ceviche is all about.

Sippin' Saturdays ~ A Visit Around the World Begins with Astor Wines

AstorlogoAny trip needs a little research in my opinion. Even if you never really go on the trip, having a little knowledge never hurt anyone. When it comes to Astor Wines and Spirits, this is a great place to go to see a variety of wines and spirits - those that you know and those which may not be familiar to you. I also love that when visiting the site, you can register so you can learn more about classes and tastings that are offered. Now you can branch out beyond your favorites and find housewarming gifts, something to bring for dinner and much more as we get closer into the summer. This is also a great way to pass the day when you had yet to plan to do anything and it is a tad too hot outside to do anything else. Take some time to visit the site and then head down to Astor Wines and Spirits!

Sippin Saturdays: Head Down the Rabbit Hole

WhiterabbitWho doesn't like finding a place that people are not familiar with? It's so much fun to try something new and to make sure that other people know that you are so the go to person to finding the best picks in town! Today, I introduce you to - White Rabbit which is down in the LES and is known for its crisp and minimalist approach which is great to go with friends or to take a large group of people. As you flip through the website, you will see all the angles within this club which has a beautiful bamboo bar! I also love that this place was named after a child's candy which is available on the bar - white rabbit. When it comes to items to nibble on, they have amazing shrimp wontons and summer rolls as well. What a great way to take a rest and to leave all thoughts of the city behind as you go into this amazing venue. Take a trip down to the LES and invite some friends along.

Mingling Mondays ~ Cinco de Mayo

West_lgWhat are you going to do - Cinco de Mayo falls on a Monday and unless you call out tomorrow, you will definitely be nursing the night's before activities. That being said, there are going to be many places that will have Cinco de Mayo specials. One of my favorite places is La Palapa that has a West Village (shown) and East Village location. I tend to go to the East Village version but tomorrow I will be celebrating my best friend's birthday and am so excited to see if I like this one as much as the other. I love the margaritas here and am such a fan of their pommegranite beverage Take some time to visit the site and plan your own impromptu outing!

Sippin' Saturdays ~ It's All About Alchemy

Alchemy_webgallery_1The other day my boyfriend and I headed out to Park Slope to visit condos. I have to say that the condo search for him has lead me to a variety of new areas and for this girl who hasn't been in Brooklyn very often, it's nice to have a new area to see with fresh eyes. I have to say that we stopped into the bar Alchemy and it was so cozy and they had an amazing Strawberry Mojito that was really interesting and until then, I had never tried Mussels - loved them. It was such a cozy vibe and everyone was so nice and I love that it had the perfect dark atmosphere which leads to amazing conversation. So, since today is all about beverages, if you're in the area you should definitely pop in - I would also suggest the calamari and they have an interesting Chickpea snack which was addicting.
