Trendy Thursdays: Event ~ Brasil - A Magical Journey, Only at Macy's

This morning I headed to Macy's - Brasil A Magical Journey. As many of you know, I am a member of Beauty, Brains and Blogs Network which was created by the Publishers of Cosmopolitan Magazine (loved seeing fellow BBB'ers Shyema of Beauty and the Feast as well as Kristan of Serafino Says and Celebrity Hair Stylist) - but we were here to learn more about Macy's Brasil initiative that is available in 300 stores through July 15th as well as the launch of Cosmopolitan For Latinas which has Zoe Saldano on the cover.

Many of the brands were a number of our faves such as Estee Lauder who created a highly pigmented collection that worked well together. I love that you can take the blush and also use it as eyeshadow as well as mixing it with their gloss to create a dynamic pout! Linda Levy, VP of Marketing of Cosmetics and Fragrances also explained that they also brought in a number of designers that were based in Brasil as in terms of tourists, Brazilians constitute a number of their shoppers and being able to have their favorites in stores would be a great relationship as well as introduction to those that are not familiar.

As an Accessories Expert, I encourage you to visit their shop in store as well as online as I am sure the same care in curation within the beauty categories will also be seen in this area as well as apparel! I also love that they had a number of paintings from Brazilian designers available to purchase! If you're in Herald Square, head to the 9th floor! Leaving with a number of fabulous goodies including a vibrant color blocked tote, Estee Lauder, Shiseido, Dior and more - it's a great way to get summer fresh as well as to bring in the essence of Brasil! I will definitely be taking these along with me for my upcoming appearance on HSN next Friday and to have my makeup artist use some of my new finds!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Shop Pink

Kimmie's picture is courtesy of Philip Friedman/Studio D and within this spread (which will be included in detail in the month of Oct) is Elizabeth Grant, Chan Luu and Brulee.

During the month of October, we want you to fill your closets with goodies while supporting Breast Cancer Research. This shop will be available all month and will then be placed on the main page of Kitten Lounge. We will also let you know which items are limited editions, sold only during this month or are ongoing!

I have been a fan of Sugar Chic Couture for a number of years as they have something, everything and anything for your four legged love! Although I came very close to having one myself, I love staying in touch with what they have and no shock to me - they are the perfect place to visit to outfit your furry baby and to support the fight against Breast Cancer! Whether it's a cute tee or simply a dog charm, every little bit helps!

Lipgloss is everything! It adds a pep to your step, the amount of color you choose to rock and fab nutrients as well! Elizabeth Grant has an extensive skincare and makeup line that I talk about a lot on Kitten Lounge but I am loving this perfect hue that also has a little LED light and gold mirror which ensures that you're never in the dark when it comes to your looks. In addition, they are also supporting the fight against Breast Cancer with this purchase! During the month of Oct Light Up Your Lips so that by purchasing at this time, 20% of the proceeds will go to the cause.when you place Sweet Pink in your cart.

All of the items included in the above spread benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, if you want to see more items, make sure to check out their site to see others spreading the support fashionably. This grouping focuses on fun accessories which you can rock while also supporting the cause! I love that I was invited to the Accessories Council Pink Picks event #ACPinkPicks.

We'll kick off with one of my fave designers, Alex Woo (@Alex_Woo) who supports the cause through her participation in annual runs as well as financially supporting the cause. Alex's mom passed away due to Breast Cancer and hearing her story made everyone feel her passion. I adore her Pink Ribbon Chord bracelet which is fully adjustable and wears well throughout the year and can be stacked with a number of other fun pieces.

Thale Blanc (@ThaleBlanc) is a relatively new line that debuted during our event that evening. When I tell you that her pouches which are meant to house your phone, cash and small items while you're out and about is the softest thing ever - is an understatement. I also loved that while we were there and because the designer was listening to various stories and passions - she popped back up after her piece had been presented and decided to donate $50 of the proceeds from each purchase to this cause - definitely check her website out for more details but this is such a fab travel must!

From traveling we talk about making your music go with you as well. I fell in love with Chic Buds (@ChicBuds) which is a keychain speaker that connects to your laptops, phones and tablets! I love the idea that you get phenomenal sound and you don't have to have a lot of room to take it with you. All the chords you need come with this as well.

I've always been a lingerie girl, I think you need to find pieces that speak to you whether it's for a night in or you have your own viewing taking place with your significant other! In my travels (since I'm always heading to a factory to create a new line, doing a TV segment or scouting), I love the idea of being able to slip into something fabulous that allows me to have some down time and if there is a phenomenal robe that goes with it - true luxury has been obtained! Brulee is a favorite of mine as they know how to keep it simple, luxe and decadent which is all you need. Of course, they're being included as they have chosen to donate 25% of all sales proceeds from the Boudoir Cami & Short in Blush (retail value $124.00 & $86.00) sold online at Brulee.net to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Donation will go into effect October 1st, 2011 and end October 31st, 2011. This is a great way to add some dreamy elegance to another segment of your wardrobe while also supporting a network of those work to ensure that Breast Cancer is a thing of the past.

Our spread above focuses on beauty items that are participating this year in supporting the research and funding of breast cancer; moreover, you can find out more by visiting BCRF's Facebook Page or @BCRFWorldPink. You can't talk about BCRF, supporting brands and amazing products without starting off with Estee Lauder (@EsteeLauder) - especially since Evelyn Lauder is the Founder and Chairman of BCRF. Although there were a number of goodies from this brand, I was super excited about La Mer's Lip Balm which I enjoyed its mintiness last night! It's available on their site starting in Oct and at specialty stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and Saks. Our Canadian Kittens can enjoy getting it exclusively at Holt Renfrew. Available at $45, $10 will be donated from each purchase.

Elizabeth Hurley Pink Ribbon Collection is $24 with 20% of the purchase price going to the cause. This was available starting on Aug 1st and will continue through to the end of the year at Estee Lauder counters, their website or until supplies last! I love that you receive Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Lavish Pink as well as this fab accessory bag which is super cute.

Finally, Bobbi Brown offers a limited edition set in her Bellini High Shimmier Lip Gloss and Pink Lip Color. This is the perfect shade of pink and will be available from Oct 1st through the end of the year at theur counters, website or until supplies last. Available for $44, they are donating $10 to the cause. There are a number of beauty products that are supporting this cause so make sure that you check out BCRF.

When I appeared on HSN in late August, I rocked a number of fab jewelry pieces while I was co-hosting for my spokeswork with Sebago. One of the pieces was Chan Luu who has a number of bracelets that I am a huge fan of. Although I wore won of their wrap bracelets, I also rocked one of their pink Swarovski pieces which has been a staple in my collection!

Chan of Chan Luu actually designed the above collection in partnership with Breast Cancer.org for their Global Breast Cancer Preventative Initiative as apart of Think Pink. Live Green. In turn, 50% of the proceeds will go to this cause!

I love this fab shade from Shiseido in Shimmering Rouge Lipstick in Iron Maiden (RS308)! But even more then this hue that is perfect for the fall season, I love that Shiseido is donating $5 to Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of Oct which will go to Cancer and Careers (part of CEW) as they have done over the past 5 years!

Scoop NYC is an amazing store that always has a number of looks from fab designers. They too are joining the support by providing 30% of the proceeds of a number of amazing product to the BCRF! Stock up on goodies for a notable cause and help women who will love your help!

Not only is it important to shop to support a cause, but when you're able to learn about your body and find the best bra and your size to boot - then you understand a bit of why I am such a fan of Natori! Simply download their new Bra App and a $1 from this will go to support breast cancer research! This is such a great tie into Breast Cancer Awareness and prevention with long lasting effects for everyone!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Accessories Council Pink Picks BCRF I

With NYFW firmly behind me, I started out the week at Marchon Eyewear Showroom for yet another fun Accessories Council Tweet Up. This one focused on items that give back to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and also highlighted a number of gifts that are apart of this year's Shop Pink 2011. This was a fun way to get our hands on a number of products that were in accessories as well as in beauty categories. Some of these items are ongoing products that are available while others are limited editions. I wanted to share with you some of my faves within beauty and tomorrow, you will see some of my fave accessories that were included! It was a fun and impassioned evening as many brands told their personal stories as well as Myra Biblowit, President of BCRF chatted with us to kick off the night and popped in throughout to share additional information. You can follow conversations from that night by searching #ACPinkPicks. As someone who had been diagnosed at a young age to possible have breast cancer (thankfully, I took a second and third opinion to find that this was not the case), we have always on Kitten Lounge and all my projects, supported this effort in any way possible. Starting on October 1st and running throughout that month, we will have our Pink Shop to connect you to brands that are mobilizing on this important effort that should be supported year around. You can see who is added to this by searching #KLShopPink

You can find out more about those participating this year by visiting their site or following them on BCRF's Facebook Page or @BCRFWorldPink. Mingling Mondays ~ Meet Holly Bernesser (Beauty Bank & Flirt It Girl)

She stays connected with her Blackberrys - one for work and one for personal!
TV addicts who are always out can depend on their DVRs to keep them connected! Holly's guilty pleasure is a show her mom tuned her into - Criminal Minds (my mom loves this too) she loves the suspense and since she's catching up on 6 seasons she watches it 3 - 4 times a week at her leisure!
But when it's about being back in NYC, her recent obsession is Osteria Morini's Gramigna pasta dish which she has been dreaming about!
Your fave meal is affected by zipcode! Holly has been going to Bridgehampton with her boyfriend and his family for the past few summers and adores Trata's Octopus Salad.
Not only is Holly Bernesser, Manager of Global Communications at Beauty Bank but she is also the fab Flirt It Girl that chats with us via videos!

Holly Bernesser is a busy girl! Not only is she Manager of Global Communications for Beauty Bank (which is apart of Estee Lauder) but she can also be seen talking about Flirt Cosmetics on their fun videos for Flirt It Girl on YouTube! She lets us know about new items that are popping up within the brand and I had the pleasure of joining her in a Spring Accessorizing video earlier this year! With all that work, she's always being taped, traveling and much more! Above you'll find out about her fave places to eat, her guilty pleasures as well as how she stays connected!

In addition to the above, I loved hearing that although her Nook is also one of her favorite tech toys that keep her connected for personal travel, it also has internet access as well (news to me). When it comes to app this tweet-a-holic loves using Twitter which is an essential wherever you are. There's tech style and personal style - I have always loved the way Holly is so put together and that's probably because she rocks Boho Chic so well which is something that I love as well! She's obsessed with all things 70s inspired from drapy one shoulder silhouettes, bright colors and the gold jewelry! She also loves bold lipstick – orange, pink, even purple! My two must-haves from FLIRT! right now are Chickstick Smooth & Shiny Lipcolor in Sangria (bright pink) and Energy (orange-coral). These are definitely on trend this season and she wears it well.

Our busy jetsetter seems to be on my page when it comes to some vacation spots - whenever there is a spare moment. She's wanted to get to the Greek isles for some time and would love to visit Brazil. Actually, anywhere with a beach sounds good to her right about now! Somehow this sentiment has been echoed by a number of those that have been within our Mingling Mondays posts so she is not alone!

Having two distinct roles as someone who is involved in Global Communications with Beauty Bank and as someone who brings the Flirt It Girl to live and interacts with so many personalities via videos and tracels, I wanted to know what she has learned from being on the segments that gives us insight into the brand. "I’ve learned tons of great makeup tips and tricks. I’m constantly inspired by the looks our product development team develops for the brand – and I’ve even been introduced to new shades in the line I haven’t personally tried through the tutorials we produce, if you can believe it. With over 250 shades in our line, there is always something new to try, or a new look to create and it’s just so much fun for me!" She definitely has a lot of energy and makes it all seem exciting and fun. With the brand's recent inclusion within the 2011 Billboard Awards Gifting Suite in Las Vegas this past weekend, it's just another example of the hectic but colorful life that Holly leads! We're also loving that for every celeb that snags a bag, due to Flirt's partnership with Prom Fairy, will allow the brand to donate a gift to the fund so that girls will look fabulous as they head out for their big moment! But I love that as much as she learns a lot from the brand she explains that she has "really enjoyed getting to interview some of my favorite experts from the world of beauty and style – like our Celebrity Style Ambassador, Heather Morris of Glee and some of my favorite bloggers and style experts like Jeannine Morris (Beauty Sweet Spot) and Kimmie Smith (so sweet) of course!

The most essential part is how she keeps it flirty as she is definitely a fab expert in this! Holly says, "I think it all comes down to confidence. If you feel good about yourself your true personality will shine through. And of course, a good mascara never hurts!" Truer words have never been spoken and I definitely agree that the eyes are definitely a way to bring in flirty action!

If you enjoyed learning about Flirt It Girl's Holly, check out last week's Aiisha Ramadan of Aiisha Ramadan Couture.

Trendy Thursdays: Notes From Paris ~ La Révolution Masculine

Notes from Paris is a series of posts from Valerie Nahmias, Beauty Editor of Femina Magazine in Paris. Brought together by our mutual friend and fashion photographer, Franco Lacosta, her posts will be featured each month bringing us her insights on beauty from products to fabulous tips! Last time, Valerie talked about the heritage ofEstee Lauder! Today she lets us in on beauty's masculine revolution that is taking!

After years of taboos and hesitation, men realize that they have as much rights as women do! To look better, to feel better and to enhance their natural beauty.

" I love wearing makeup, it enhances my mood, I feel sexy, strong, seductive, mysterious, androgenous, and incredibly sensual!!" said the great artist Franco Lacosta in one of our conversations about beauty. I suddenly understood how men have become demanding and have decided to finally confront society through wisdom and freedom - and freedom means make-up!

Self-tanners, bronzing powder, Khôl for the eyes, concealers, matte varnish for nails or just stain lip balm, the make-up for Men has established itself in today’s market.

We always had many tribes that make up their faces and their bodies as a way of expression, means for a cure or to continue to have communication with their ancestors and Gods.

Revelation? Revolution? …A new tribe is born! The men who are confident enough by not living life by society rules.

The time when make-up was reserved for women-only is over. Freed from taboos, the new man takes his flight, has fun by making himself better looking, replaces his day cream by a coloured moisturizer, adds a touch of tanning powder anti-shine to his ritual, a line of light brown khôl in the eyes, a zest of lip balm, or a wide line of very black powder to eyebrows, that makes him terribly sexy!

Today, we are lucky to have Jean-Paul Gaultier as the chief of a tribe where men and woman share a duality for many things, such as perfumes and now make up, and still have the desire for each other more than ever…

Ultra smart, the line of make-up for men "Tout beau Tout propre" of Jean-Paul Gaultier is simply irresistible. These products are, above all, studied to be discreet, underline the good features of the face, conceal the signs of fatigue, and reveal their true beauty.

It's about time... MEN can finally be good-looking, and be our superhero without the mask!!!

SUPERMEN!!!

Valerie is the Beauty Editor of Paris' Femina Magazine and it's blog Redaction Beaute and has spent her years in the fashion/beauty industry. She was an assistant at French Elle Magazine for Carine Roitfeld (who is now French Vogue's Editor in Chief) and wrote the book, Pour Etre Belle.

Trendy Thursdays: Notes From Paris ~ Estée Lauder, Alchemist of Beauty

Notes from Paris is a series of posts from Valerie Nahmias, Beauty Editor of Femina Magazine in Paris. Brought together by their mutual friend and fashion photographer, Franco Lacosta, her posts will be featured each month bringing us her insights on beauty from products to fabulous tips! Last time, Valerie talked about beauty's power of Freedom! Today she lets reminds us of the heritage of Estee Lauder herself!

Experience is essential, but only the mix of talent and experience can brings the « know how »… To know how to encourage women with their beauty. To know how to make them feel gorgeous, to help them be unique. Mme Lauder always knew that this would be the Secret to her success! This beauty maven was utilizing half her time researching for the newest technology in her laboratory, and the rest of her time amongst the women in the shops, listening, learning and giving them good advise. I just simply love that way of being.

In 2010, the brand decided to reconnect with Estee's first idea, the personalized service.
We just got to enter to the Estée Lauder’s "Divine Beauty Counter" to be ever so lucky , to be pampered , to profit from a special free of charge service. On the spot, the trained specialist fulfill their mission by suggesting the best for us, how to learn everything that we need to know from; how to recognise our make-up foundation, how to choose our new perfume, how to create make up in 2 stopwatch minutes or to discover secrets behind a cultissime product! The beauty experience becomes again a real luxury, in the perfect marriage where time, technology and expertise work together to create a knowledgeable and memorable experience.

Estée, twenty-five years ago, created the first serum, Advance Night Repair. Few drop of it applied every night on a fresh clean skin gives us the certainty that for our skin is going to stay young for longer time, we just must care for it. This serum, rich in high technology boost of cells, identifies the damage of the DNA before they are irreversible, and stimulate the natural mechanism of repair during the sleep. Everyone is using serum today, every brand has within 3 to 4 serums with different purposes, such as protection, hydratation or repair. The brand made a new formula few month ago. Protected by 20 patents, the product promises to repair the misdeeds due to UV and to time, and those provoked by the smoke of cigarette and the pollution!

Super fine, the texture of the serum infiltrate deeply in the skin, that is the reason why we applies it before the cream. Now that we fully understand the power of serum, we can participate in its action by having a state of Zen mind and positive thoughts at the time of the application. Yes, the state of mind plays a role in the efficiency of care. Let’s express our imagination! When I feel very tired, i use the serum as a mask on my face, applying drops and massaging them unto the skin…. this morning, I mix a drop of serum with my cheeks cream (the Rush Hour of Benefit), I mixed them in the top of my hand and applied in my cheekbones…

Guaranteed Glow, Darling!!

And remember…" Beauty Fades", that alchemy, good skin and Estee Lauder are here to stay!! I guess we are just lucky !
