I can't tell you how many salads I go through in a general week but any chance I get to add some goodness to leafy greens is much appreciated! Working Mother Magazine and Kraft Dressing teamed up to promote good health by making July 30th, National Bring Your Salad to Work Day in an effort to encourage women to do something good for their bodies and to get some much needed energy. Interestingly enough, the 2007 Best Working Mother Companies were given the opportunity to win a salad maekover. The winner would receive a visit from the Working Mothers Sampling Squad and they would give out Kraft Salad Dressing On the Go Packs. Tomorrow, Liz Claiborne will receive this makeover.
So set a time for tomorrow and see who can make the yummiest salad with the freshest ingredients tomorrow. Not only should this be done tomorrow but having a group salad day once a week is great and doing it with others will definitely be an encouragment. If you work from home or freelance, you can still get in on the fun whether you meet up with other freelancers or you decide to eat it in the park. Whichever way you do it, make this apart of your lifestyle and check out Krafts Dressings on the Go! Tomorrow, you'll see pictures from the Working Mother Squad's makeover at Liz Claibourne's headquarters!
When I get my weekly mani's and my bi-weekly pedi's, there is only one place that I run to (I simply refuse to go anywhere else)! Dashing Diva has multiple locations all over New York City and they are definitely my sanctuary when I need a little time out! I love their pink colors, plenty of colors, fun events and so much more. I do enjoy going on Fri's to get my pedicure and manicures with a nice cosmo (I was also a huge fan of their wine pedicure as well) Recently, Kitten Lounge attended Dashing Diva's event which had the cast of Legally Blond the Musical in attendance doing a Bend and Snap competition. The pictures included below are courtesy of Sarah Conley which you can see more of her coverage on Style It! This location which was off of Union Square is my favorite one to go to! It was really cute to see the cast members together and to see the winners of the Bend and Snap competition!
Dashing Diva definitely loves the Kitten Lounge and its readers and is providing 3 Elle of a Pedicures (fit for Ms Elle Woods herself) which we will be giving away on this site on Fri the Fourth of July at noon! Getting a complimentary pedicure at the 3rd Avenue location (149 3rd Ave btwn 15th/16th) is definitely an amazing treat and a great way to enjoy the summer as well. To be one of the three winners, simply tell me your favorite pedicure shade (regardless of brand) as many of us go a little daring on our toes when it's the summer! All entrants must have access to NYC as it is valid here and all entries must be included as comments within this post. With so many shades, you're bound to find a favorite - my favorite "Chelsea in the Buff" or Vanilla -Rama (when it comes to mani's) and anything deep and vixen like when it comes to my pedi's.
I hope everyone takes some time to check out Solstice in Times Square brought to you by SoyJoy! What a great way to ring in the summer at the center of Times Square! I will not be able to attend this; however, I know that many people will be able to join this event. In addition to having SoyJoy as a prime participant, the Times Square Alliance has also brought this amazing event! I really love the idea and can't wait to post the video of seeing Times Square getting a little relaxing love with so many yogis in the area! I love that this will be offered throughout the day and you will also be able to see the participating studios as well! Bring a friend and some comfortable clothes to enjoy this event. Visit the Times Square Alliance site to see the schedule and what you will be attending!
In addition, I would also check out SoyJoy to see the amazing bars that are great to eat throughout the day. Not only are they tasty but they are perfect to have when you need to get a tasty snack! With so many great flavors, you're bound to have more than one that you'll find yourself nibbling on! I think that the site is super cute and just as a means to relax, you'll love opening the site and seeing the cute parade of bars and the bunny walking across your screen!
If you ended up attending this event, please leave your comments and let me know what I missed! I look forward to hearing and if you take yoga in NYC, let me know as I am looking for a facility that I can go to as I am still searching for the perfect studio! I will also check out the list so I am excited to see your comments!
Ah one of the final segments from this week's Big Apple BBQ Festival shows how the city brings everyone together. Typically these streets would be full of cars (I loved sitting in one of my seminars and realizing that my feet were crossed on a manhole cover) and yet this weekend, everyone enjoyed a large and safe block party. It was nice to see everyone in their summer outfits and sunglasses with either a beer or a plate of food in their hands. One of the cutest places that I saw in terms of booths was Baker's Ribs! I love the cute little pink pig in green writing. Once again I was impressed with how hard people worked and how hot it was outside but everyone was equally impressed - especially the guy in the navy shirt with the sunglasses! Fortunately that was my boyfriend who enjoyed taking in the sites and enjoying the food. It's always nice to see how the city can come together to enjoy a great event and the music was absolutely amazing!
One of the creators of this event was one of the most notable BBQ restaurants - Blue Smoke. Throughout all the panels, everyone had talked about them and I was definitely interested in checking out how they created the amazing tastes that were making people smile. As I walked around the park, it was interesting to see all the ways that people make their signature barbecue. The Big Apple BBQ Fest had so many booths that at first, I didn't really think about the main attraction - actually seeing everyone cook! Thankfully, my boyfriend (the guy in the navy shirt with sunglasses on) took out his camera, which made me think of my Flip. Although I didn't attend today, it was hot yesterday and I don't know how everyone was able to keep working with the heat of the pits and also the weather! I did learn one lesson, when it came to the end of the day and you saw that no one was in line, that's when you knew that they were all out. Unfortunately we had to pass up a few booths because of this. Enjoy seeing the hard working folks at Blue Smoke.
Today was hot and absolutely amazing! Today I started early in the afternoon at the Big Apple BBQ Fest which took place in Madison Park today and tomorrow! Not only was it hot but it was a lot of fun to see food, music, hear seminars and to hear happy people getting excited about BBQ. I have to say that I was a BBQ novice but after a recent visit to Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem, I had a renewed respect (yes how does a Midwestern girl not get into BBQ until a late age - I don't know but I am definitely interested and got a lot of information). After picking up my press passes (thanks Katy) I went to the seminars first. Sponsored by Snapple and Every Day With Rachael Ray, I really wanted to see what was going on and sit in on a few demos if possible. I had the luxury of making it in to my first cooking demo "On the Side". This was lead by two Food Editors of my favorite magazine - Every Day with Rachael Ray. Pamela Mitchell and Teri Tsang Barrett shared interesting sides that you can include on your barbecue which are just as important as the main attraction! I came in right when they handed out the amazing golden sweet tea and I also sampled the hush puppies that I hadn't had in quite some time. This video clip includes the segment about the hush puppies. Teri is on the right and Pamela is on the left! These ladies were a lot of fun to listen to and was a great way to introduce me to my day!
I love spreading the love and when it comes to a Sample Sale, that's a lot of love! Ted Rossi has an amazing collection of python bags, clutches and much more that I enjoy wearing and have always enjoyed the compliments that I have received. The good news is that you can experience the same thing starting April 2nd - April 4th when his bangles start at $20 and his clutches which are made of leather start at $40! Located in the city, this is a sample sale that is worth going to and is not to be missed no matter what you are up to. Continue to ring in spring with fun pieces that will make you the perpetual conversation starter and What: Ted Rossi Sample Sale

Last Monday I had the opportunity to go to a press opening of Omido. Of course openings and functions are only fun when you bring a friend along to sample and taste. Omido is a very cute and chic Japanese restaurant. I love the sushi and I also loved the drinks. I love the intimate vibe of this restaurant. Located in the theater district, I could see how this restaurant could be over run with tourists; however, it seems like it's in a tucked away place so it is definitely a gem that you should keep your eye on. Regardless of what day you choose to go, this wood oriented location reminds you of a spa and the music definitely kept a positive vibe going. You also have the opportunity to rent out an area which is perfect for a birthday party. I love the idea of the little slips of fortune cookies papers that are attached to the ceiling which makes you feel like your in a special area.
That being said, I enjoyed the sushi - being a fan of yellowtail I liked this piece the best (my second favorite was the spicy tuna). As far as cocktails, I enjoyed the Sake infused beverages. Surprisingly, dessert was my favorite portion of the meal (this coming from someone who tends to never have this) I really enjoyed the Mango Parfaits which were absolutely amazing - thankfully the waiter saved us some. I loved the presentation! This is definitely somewhere that I could see stopping in for drinks although I would think that it would get crowded quickly.
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
