We interrupt our normal decor Sunday segments as I'm still traveling around in Florida. Disney was tons of fun and we're making our way to Ft Lauderdale! I love that this trip is all about being outside and having outfits that work to be out and about, on the beach as well as someplace to eat! With that in mind, I had to create a fun beach look. I love this Twist Front Bandeau Dress as it's easy to wear but more importantly, it can slip right over your bikini. With fab placed accessories, you're ready to hang out wherever the night takes you! It doesn't take much to bring out that effortless style and as I have always said, simpler is always better! Wherever you are, keep these tips in mind!
Oh when I pack, I pack! Here is it that I will be away for about a week where I will be on a press trip in Miami for Schick, on to Mickey's House in Disney and then continuing on to Ft Lauderdale for some R&R! But before that, it takes me about a day to think about everything that I will be bringing with me. Today is a peek into my carry on bag! The bag is obviously familiar as it was used in my photoshoot for the Coach MYNY Fall campaign that is currently on their site for Fall! I'm loving that this bag will head to the airport with me! Now I had to show you some of the items that will be in my bag as they are my essentials!
In addition to my guilty pleasure of Life & Style, I will have Alphabet City by one of my new friends John Paul Buchmeyer which I am so excited to begin reading and is perfect when you're hanging out in the cabanas poolside! Because this trip is all about R&R I know that I will enjoy some bevvies so just in case I get a bit of a headache, I have some Migralex which is an organic headache medicine! When it get's too hot out there I love having my Dickinson's which keeps me cool and refreshed whether I'm getting out of a plane or turning over in my chair at the Delano! I get super thirsty on the way to the airport so I'm happy to have Drink Neuro with me which I will have Sleep with me as I have definitely been missing that over the past few weeks. I plan to be refreshed when I wake up from my slumber to hit the ground running when I head to Miami as there is much to do! With all the sun that I'll be soaking in, I need to have it in a safe way so Jane Iredale is coming strong with the SPF Translucent puff as well as the Lip Drink that has SPF in it as well! What else is in my bag? Well I'll let you know when I finish packing but I can't wait to finish. It'll have to wait as I'm on my way to Suffren, NY to Avon's R&D plant to learn about #LotusShine which is a new haircare product that will be available soon!
Wed I am heading to Florida! I'll hit 3 cities in a period of a week starting with South Beach for a fun press trip with Schick at the fabulous Delano! Now I have to say that usually I stay at Loews and it is my go to spot BUT I'm super thrilled to be staying at the Delano (it's a Morgans Hotel and I love the ones that they have here in NYC). I have to say that many times I have walked by the Delano and wondered how it would be to stay there. This trip is all about fun, hanging out with fab bloggers that I have befriended and some that I can call besties as well. Between the massages, lunches, dinners, etc we will be undertaking the serious business of working out as we all participated in Gina Lombardi's Deadline Fitness and staying smooth with Schick!
As my Florida trip continues, we'll stop in on Orlando for a visit to the "Happiest Place on Earth" and then of course on to Ft Lauderdale! The trip is about sun, fun and bikinis! In my opinion this is the best way to travel so here is one of my fave looks when it comes to hanging out in the cabana, poolside or at the beach!
In a few days I will be moving from one Cabana to the next in my travels in South Beach and in Ft Lauderdale. But there is no reason why you can't turn your outdoor space into a cabana. Whether you have a backyard, rooftop, deck or a corner of your space that you convert into one - this is something that you have to do! The basic elements would be having a great sitting area, making sure you have pitchers nearby and just popping in fun colors that remind you of the beach. Here are some great items to transform your space!
Like many of you, I woke up this morning to finding snow on the ground and realizing that it was still falling (and hoping that it doesn't hinder my plans for an awesome Super Bowl party tomorrow). I also woke up with clarity on a number of issues that I have been grappling with and after a slightly wompy event yesterday, everything fell into place. I'm definitely in a huge period of transition right now. Those who know me know that it has been a crazy period of months and it's just about to get stepped up to an entirely different level. Obviously, announcements will be made but until then, I had to refocus and ensure that many of the core elements (you can hear more about how Kitten Lounge came to be via a recent interview) that brought me to this place, are still being met!
This journey began when I first got to NYC in 2002 and it was all about reaching out to people and keeping an open forum where I could connect with others and that is the essence of everything that I do. I love letting people know about each other and spreading the word about it. Whether you're an indie designer, artist, baker, etc - Kitten Lounge is a fab forum that brings everything together as I think that your greatness should be shared and this will continue here and on additional ventures that are coming up. My journey also began with my love for accessories and that is something that will continue to be a main stay here as many of you know I build my outfits starting here first. To that end, I woke up this morning and as I flipped through Vogue Latin America, I found my self falling in love with so many designers that I wasn't aware of so expect a focus on international labels as that is so key to me. You can also expect more coverage of international fashion shows which is something that I have covered on previous blogs but I don't necessarily always do it on here.
Also, events are key. I attend a lot and if you follow me @cocoabebe, you have been there when I'm at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the #markgirl event with Mark Cosmetics and Lauren Conrad and much more. Kitten Lounge is also doing events and I definitely want you there to reach out to you in person! Of course this fall, the first Fashion Cruise - Style Pod will set sail with a little Social thrown in for good measure. Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot, Karen Robinovitz of Purple Lab and myself will be sailing the ocean leaving from Ft Lauderdale and heading to Key West and Cozumel in Oct! Earlier this week, I posted about an outfit that I will be receiving in April and I'm beyond thrilled about how amazing my selections were. Oh how I love Saturdays that are filled with clarity and tea! As a final piece of info - I am in a major shoe shift. Last year I was all about Jimmy Choo (obvi I still love them) and you noticed that many outfits were paired with these shoes. I am now all about Christian Louboutin. I think it really struck home for me when I was at an event listening to a panel and saw the signature red. It was like a little light went off so you will notice that this year, I am focusing on these fab heels and when I get my first pair, of course I will have to share although I know a certain someone who will be getting hers soon and I'll have to post about that soon!
My schedule is an interesting mix from attending my fashion, music and social media events. In addition, there are those who I hang out within and outside of these worlds or I'm always referred to someone that I must meet. Who knows when it actually happens and I find that I only see some people at set events or I'm always making promises. These events are always fun but after 3 or 4 hours it's over and I know that it'll be another Fashion Week, brunch meet up etc before I can hang out again!
It was over Christmas that I began creating Style Pod. I loved the idea of those in fashion, beauty and social media coming together. I'm not going to lie, it was the success of Jason Keath's Social Fresh Cruise where attendees cruised while they attended seminars to discuss social media and social good! I love that he's doing his second annual trip and I do plan on attending! That being said, I wanted to do the same thing for our industry during October! Bringing together those who are bloggers, stylists or anyone that has an interest in beauty, fashion and social media was key! In addition, we will also have a few seminars that look at how social is used within this area! I knew that I wanted to bring in Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot who shares her passion for beauty online and is also a personality on CBS and was on E's Red Carpet show at the Emmys! Karen Robinovitz was also someone that I knew had to be apart of this Style Pod! As the Creatrix of Purple Lab NYC, Karen is a fabulous mentor in showing how to launch a cosmetic brand; moreover, launching it online! Together we will present interesting seminars on style and social media.
As much as I love learning how others use the space to present their sites and brands, I enjoy meeting people and getting to know them! What better way to do this then to be on a 4 night cruise that leaves Ft Lauderdale, sails to Key West and continues to Cozumel! The night before we leave on this voyage on Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas, we will have a Bon Voyage party for those that will be in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area. Not only will this party include those going on the trip, but various social/traditional medias as well!
