Trendy Thursdays: Beach Beauty

Maybe because I'm traveling a lot, stores have been rocking spring and summer floorsets or the out of office messages of my business partners that have me in a beach state of mind! Whatever the reason is, I had to share some of my must have items that will make you look beach ready, are perfect for everyday use or when you want to grab a bag to head out to stay with friends. Treasure Tuesdays: Awards Season 2013 ~ Warner Bros Golden Globes After Party Nina Dobrev

Behind the scenes grooming image of Nina and Riawna is courtesy of Celebutopia.net.

We've been recapping the Golden Globes and it wouldn't be complete without highlighting what was worn at the parties! Nina Dobrev attended the 2013 Warner Bros and InStyle Golden Globe Awards After Party last night. She looked so adorable and sugary sweet in turquoise from Oscar de la Renta's spring collection. This dress was further accessorized with a fab silver belt and stunning Jimmy Choo heels. The attention to detail continued with this super cute twist created by stylist Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One Salon and of course you can create this look as well.

Step 1 In order to smooth Nina’s hair and add shine, her hair was prepped with U LUXURY Shampoo and Conditioner, which are infused with crushed pearl, Hawaiian white honey and Argan oil. Next, Riawna used UNITE 7SECONDS Conditioner to detangle, condition and protect hair.

Step 2 Next, she blow-dried hair using the UNITE 9-Row Denman Brush to smooth the cuticle of her hair.

Step 3 Nina then flipped her head upside down while Riawna completed a classic braid from the nape to the crown of her head.

Step 4 All remaining hair was pulled up into a ponytail.

Step 5 UNITE BEACH DAY Spray was spritzed throughout the dry ponytail to add density to the hair.

Step 6 The hair was wrapped and pinned into a classic bun.

Step 7 The final look was held in place using UNITE GO365 Hairspray and polished off with UNITE SHINA-Mist.

Mingling Mondays: Awards Season 2013 ~ Golden Globes Sofia Vergara

Another major winner on the red carpet in terms of "Best Dressed" is Sofia Vergara! Although many talk about how Sofia tends to stick to this body style and would like for her to change it up, I think people should stick to what works for them. This stunning black sequin dress from Michael Cinco looked fabulous when paired with Lorraine Schwartz floral jewelry.

Another key feature to her stunning look beyond her dress as well as her fabulous curvy figure - her hair! Jen Atkin, Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Celebrity Stylist decided on a sleek look This is a great look when you're going out and of course, we have how you can recreate the look.

1. Always start with the right foundation and that means a nourished scalp and hair. Rinse and condition with CLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY THERAPY Damage & Color shampoo and conditioner for strong, beautiful hair that can hold any style

2. Next, blow dry hair straight with a Mason Pearson brush to keep the hair smooth and sleek

3. Once dry, use a flat iron only on the ends of hair – and not at the root – in order to keep the fullness throughout

4. Then gently mist hair with a shine spray to add gorgeous shine but not weigh hair down

5. Finish with a spritz of hair spray to tame fly-aways and give a moveable hold

Fashionable Fridays ~ Outfit Your Workout

Part of doing anything is getting the right mindset and if you're thinking of tackling your workout, then you should outfit yourself for sure! I have come across some phenomenal items to add to your look! I'm a huge fan of mixing it up whether it's a jog in the park, Exhale Spa's Cardio Core Fusion, yoga and more. When I just hit a few of my favorites in the gym, I love rocking a pair of shorts such as these by Adidas as well as giving love to my alma mata, Indiana University with this Victoria's Secret Pink athletic tee! To ensure the perfect messy bun, I love these Jilly Bands which allows your hair to be pulled back without having undue stress put on it (and I love the range of colors - a must in my beauty pack no matter what). Keep time with 180Limited which is a fab rubber watch which comes in a square and circle face option. I'm all about drinking water and love this glass bottle from bkr which not onl y has a silicone sleeve (once again choose your colors) but also has a cap where the handle is slightly tilted which is easier to hold in your hand as it fits in the curve of your hand.

Finally, it's all about the shoes and ensuring that they're not even good for your feet but that of course they look amazing with your look. I've been wearing these Therafit Shoe sneakers since my press trip in Jamaica! I love how it supports my arches and allows me to have cushioned layers. Dr. Lisa Masterson, who appears on The Doctor's created this shoe to empower women not only in the gym but throughout their lifestyle. There are so many hues that are available that we're excited to give you the opportunity to win a pair. Tweet @TherafitShoe and @KittenLounge how you will be healthier in 2013 with the hashtag #lifestyle2013 and we will select 1 winner on New Year's Eve.

Infusing Great Gatsby Style Into Your Look

GG-06432r: CAREY MULLIGAN as Daisy Buchanan and LEONARDO DICAPRIO as Jay Gatsby in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' drama "THE GREAT GATSBY," a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Photo courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

The Great Gatsby, Scott F. Fitzgerald`s famous novel about the roaring 1920s, has inspired a look all its own. Meant to be a blend of modern style with the fashion earmarks of the novel`s decade, getting the Great Gatsby look is all about accessories and pairings.

Hairpieces

A sparkling hairpiece that stands out is a must-have part of the Great Gatsby look. For example, try a jeweled headband with ornate etchings or an accent stick with a jeweled end placed through a hair knot.

When you`re looking for hair accessories, make sure you`re sticking to pieces that reflect the time period. Dull golds, silver and diamonds are the best way to go. Clear gemstones were more common than colored ones in the hair accessories of the era.

For headbands, try to find bold, swirly patterns as opposed to the traditional U-shaped style. Hairpieces were immediately noticeable in the 1920s and should not be easily hidden by your hair.

Jewelry

Pearls are a surefire way to introduce the Great Gatsby look into your style, especially long and knotted strands. Choose traditional pearl colors, such as white and pink. Darker colored pearls were not common in the 1920s.

Earrings and rings should be "baubles," or large and noticeable. Pearl and diamond accents are preferable with silver or neutral tone dresses, but look for colored gemstones if you`re going with a color theme. For example, if you have a green dress and shoes, you can use accenting emerald-hued stones in your jewelry pieces to set your entire outfit off.

Dresses

A traditional flapper dress is beaded and should make some noise when you move around in it. While the dresses vary in length, often showing the knees, cleavage was often minimal. Look for dresses with higher fronts and a rounded or uneven bottom to get the correct look. Fringe is a must in a dress in the Great Gatsby style.

You have a wide range of colors available, depending on what level of Great Gatsby style you`re aiming for. If you want to go bold, try reds, golds and greens. For a more traditional look, stick to silvers, grays and variations of light brown, such as gold and shiny tan.

Accessories

Gloves, feathered boas and cigarette holders and cases were all popular in the 1920s. If you decide to go with gloves, stick to basic colors in a satin material. Gloves should be full length, past the wrist.
Purses were smaller and often matched the dress in the 1920s. Look for beaded or fringe purses, particularly clutches or other small evening purses, to complete your look. Try to find a purse that matches or complements the colors present in your dress.

Shoes

Heels were a part of most flapper outfits, particularly high heels in a traditional style. While not as comfortable as the sneakers on Etnies Shoes, higher heels in a neutral shade are preferable for the Great Gatsby look. Try on heels beforehand so you go the highest you can without being uncomfortable.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Carol's Daughter at EMF

While I was away at the Essence Music Festival at Crest, there were a number of celebrities making the rounds throughout New Orleans! Carol's Daughter had their pop up shop which allowed people to buy a number of their products AND to get a chance to chit chat with a number of celebrities! Unfortunately, I was in the midst of doing my Meet and Greets at Crest but I had to share two of my favorite people that I wanted to see if my times had meshed a little better - Erica from Mary Mary (which I ended up seeing later at NOLA Emeril's restaurant later that night) and who is pictured next to founder, Lisa Price and of course Tank! One of my fave products right now is the Macadamia Hold and Control Smoother which my boyfriend uses all the time to style his hair. I love that not only is this a fab product in terms of unisex use but as many of you know Paul is Italian, Sicilian and Hungarian and loves this in his hair so it's definitely a multi -texture tool! He loves using this on the front of his hair for a thicker look as he uses another styling gel for his sides for a sleek look and then another for the back. You can't say that guys don't pay close attention to their hair!

Check out more images from Carol's Daughter Pop Up Shop.

Fashionable Fridays: Events ~ Accesshairize Launches

Last night was such a great night! There's something about great ideas coming together! Although this is not the full recap, I had to share! About a week ago, Celebrity Hair Stylist, Kristan Serafino and Beauty Blogger of Serafino Says and I talked about life, business and everytihng in between. By the end of the conversation, we knew we wanted to create an event that had celebs, beauty and accessories! Within less than a week, Accesshairize was born! None of this would have been possible without our great partner and sponsor, the James Bentley Salon.

We honored Laura Osnes, the 2012 Tony Award Nominee (our fingers are crossed for her on her big night on Sunday at the TONY Awards) and we chatted all things beauty and accessories while hearing her talk about Broadway, her show Bonnie and Clyde as well as her upcoming role in Cinderella! More details will follow but thank you Bartenura for the fabulous Moscato which everyone enjoyed (and HUGE thanks to Peg Samuel of Social Diva and Stiletto Consulting for the connect). Huge shout out to Nina Handbags and Ted Rossi who have always been phenomenal partners of Kitten Lounge and have carried their support into Accesshairize! I'm glad that Kaaral beauty products and Victoria's Secret had fab spritzers AND we all nibbled on Georgetown Cupcakes that were TONY Award themed. Not to mention, that it came just in time to the season opening of Georgetown Cupcake's new series where they take on opening a shop here in NYC (watch it on TLC tonight at 9pm!).

We will have another post updating this event and we appreciate all who came and we're already planning on the next one!

Swoonfest Saturdays: Events ~ Duane Reade Look

Last night, I made my way down to Duane Reade's Look Boutique 40 Wall St location as Christine Tsang of Tineey.com was one of the bloggers hosting this event as she is apart of their VIP Blogger Program. This location is housed in what was a bank which is why it's such an expansive space with fabulous archways. In addition to being able to shop for many of your favorite brands, there are products that are exclusive to Duane Reade Look Boutique such as Gosh Cosmetics (Denmark based and very popular in Europe; however it is exclusive to Duane Reade in terms of being in the US). In addition, they have an eyebrow station, lash station, hair salon (blow outs, wash - this isn't for a color or other types of intensive treatments, nail salon (polish change and with OPI and Essie products). I love that the nail salon area is actually housed in what was Davd Rockefeller's office which still has the mantle that is original to the space. In addition, there are Swarovski Chandeliers throughout the Look Boutique and even in the fireplace of David Rockefeller's former office!

It was a great event to see what Duane Reade is doing within their stores regardless of whether it's a Look Boutique or a regular store. Definitely check out these special stores as they are sprinkled throughout the city and even your local Duane Reade may have unique options that will make your day to day a lot easier.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Red Carpet Beauty

There is something that many of your celebs have in common when it comes to hitting the red carpet, they have great skin or the appearance of that sunkissed look! I believe that your beauty regimine is a total system and not just something that you do for a specific time period. When I'm traveling, doing segments and more, I utilize a number of items that ensures that I am always red carpet ready! From Burt's Bees, Gud is a complete skincare line. I have to say that my boyfriend is hooked on their Orange Petalooza Shampoo which has a fab smell that is perfect for clean hair! I'm obsessed with L'Occitane's Immortelle brightening system which includes their Hand Care which has SPF15 included, Brightening Essence which is mixed into the Moisturizing Cream which is perfect for the face. I have been taking two drops a day of IO Beauty's Beauty Booster which tastes like berries and can be taken straight or mixed in your favorite beverage. It's a quick way of nourishing your skin whether it's first thing in the morning, or later on in the day. Of course great skin is all about lotion and Jergens ensures that regardless of the season, you're protected. I too have jumed on the Beauty Balm wagon! I love that Dr Jart's BB cream can be mixed into my foundation that I apply onto my face when I am prepping it for my makeup routine or can be worn alone. I love the water base of this particular one as I feel that it spreads on evenly and makes my skin radiant. Finally, when you're running around, you can't allow a headache to keep you down. Migralex was introduced to me a few years ago and although it was explained to me that it helped those with chronic migraines, I have found that it is perfect for light headaches, stress headaches, hangovers, cramps or those annoying headaches I get when I have been flying for a number of hours. It's fast and effective which is perfect for keeping that well maintained look! Together, all of these items keep me going and are apart of my routine.

Fashionable Fridays ~ Behind the Scenes With Theia

I love what I do! It allows me to go behind the scenes months in advance to see lines, their inspirations and more. With Fashion Week being less than a week away, readers always want to get as many sneak peeks as possible on collections. On the day of shows, I get to go to many of the shows prior to them hitting the runway. This allows me to let you know what to expect in terms of hair, makeup and what accessories they will rock on the runway. Theia Couture is one of my favorite designers as I have worn them at events and enjoy seeing this line on the runway! Creative Director, Don O’Neill, has a phenomenal vision that comes to life at every presentation. This year, they will be at the Metropolitan Pavilion as apart of Style 360. What a great space to see these pieces showcased. A show is about putting the best elements from the collection out as well as inspirations.

One of the things about the line that always gets me excited is that inspiration comes from Greek goddesses. For this Fall 2012 collection is Athena who is a deity that is known as a powerful woman who was full of wisdom, the instinct to protect and courage. "In 2012 as we face challenging times, I want to imbue the THEIA woman with this sense of power and confidence that will help her stride forward, feeling brave, beautiful, and strong," said the Creative Director. Above you can see models waiting to be seen during the model call for this show where they select the women who will rock the runway and will ensure that the designated looks make sense for them. In addition, you can see some of the mood boards which lets you know the direction that the brand will design in and includes fabrics.

On the day of the show, you can see the runway show and get a front row seat! As an Accessories Expert, I'm beyond excited that shoes will be provided via Q by Pasquale, jewelry from Ben Amun, gloves from Fratelli Orsini and nails by Dashing Divas.

Fashionable Fridays ~ Fall Workouts

Yes it's still the summer but like my wardrobe that is for being out and about, my workout gear also transitions as well! I am a huge fan of rocking black and grey when exercising and many times when I am doing a class, I love to layer it up as well. There's nothing cuter than cropped yoga pants which are from Fila and are all about performance. Include a simple tank like this one from Splendid and a cute cropped terry tee by Stella McCartney and you're ready for the fitness runway as well as looking fab! Pop on your Ryka sneakers and to pull your hair back, Forever 21 has a great scarf with just a bit of color. Grab your Adidas bag which also allows you to run around right after to whatever the day may take you. Keep it fresh by putting The Body Shop's gentle facial cleansing wipes. As you guys know, we're getting closer and closer to NYFW so I also pop in one of my super nutritious snacks from Fresh Diet so that I can snack in a healthy way!

Mingling Mondays ~ Meet Alex Samuel (Beauty Editor of Self Magazine)

Also on Self's HBAs (unexpected but loved) Beyonce Heat Gold Sparkling Body Lotion. Alex didn't think that a lotion with a fragrance and gold sparkles would have been so loved by readers!
Alex is obsessed with Batiste Hair! I included this in Kitten Lounge's Kimmie's Gimmies Spring Breah Tweet Up, but it's also in Self's Health and Beauty Awards as well! I agree having dark hair, this dry shampoo doesn't leave white spots behind.
Next vacation on her list - Marrakech!
24 may be no longer but she just got bitten by this action packed show and via the wonders of Netflix, she can get in on the fab episodes! Working with fab ladies every day is fun - but this is where she gets in a little testosterone!

Self Magazine Beauty Team: Runa Bhattacharya, Nicole Catanese, Elaine D'Farley (Beauty Director, SELF), Alex Samuel, Pia Battacharya

Happy May! The week and month has just begun and yet there are so many things that are going on! So of course we had to think how to get fully ready and amaze looking for the summer! Of course, beauty is the best way as there are tons of fab products out there but with so many to choose from, we could all use a little help. You can also check out our faves from Self Magazine as they just released their Health Beauty Awards for 2011 on this week's Trendy Thursdays post! With all of that intel, we had to take a moment to chit chat with Alex Samuels, Beauty Editor of Self Magazine and to find out about what she's into and what guilty pleasures we should know about!

We all have that meal that gets us and leaves us salivating for it even if we can't get our hands on it! For Alex, she loves Pala Gluten Free Pizza whether it's the etna pie or the arrabbiata depending on her mood (always good to have a back up morsel)! Seriously. she has dreams about it! Of course as I always say what you love to eat vies for first or second place with what keeps you connected! It's no surprise that Alex's iPhone is key! Now when I want to know how to get around the city, you'll find me using a combo of Google Maps or HopStop but Alex just took navigation to another level! Since she lives in Brooklyn, she's always on the subway and ExitStrategy lets her know where she needs to be on the subway in order to be close to her desired exit! Not only is this super efficient and convenient but there's no trial in error - ie continuing to take the same line to figure out the best way to stand! Beauty and brains is always a good thing in my book!

Last month at Spa Week's Media party, everyone was buzzing about Hair Feathers and at the event, you had the opportunity to get them! They add a little panache to your overall look! Stacey Gersten put these on her and she has been receiving compliments daily since then - it's such a cute trend and perfect for summer! Check out above to see more of her loves and what readers said about a few of the products that were included in Self Magazine's Health and Beauty Awards for 2011 which is based in the ultimate best of the best beauty recommendations of 2,200 SELF readers in 48 states who tested 1,187 new products that have been developed over the past year to determine the top picks for Hair, Face, Makeup, Body and Sun products! The 87 winners that are included within this list standout from a possibly overwhelming beauty aisle! Self takes it a step further for ease of shopping with the ability to download the full list on Self.com! With over 62% of SELF readers relying on word of mouth for their beauty purchases, it gives you a great way to know what's out there! This Thursday, I will share some of my favorites from the list as well!

If you loved finding out about Alex, make sure that you check out Aljoud, founder, of Niftee last week.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Dove Gets Lea Michele

Earlier this week, we talked about Lea Michele's Golden Globe 2011 look! Now we know about the amazing look but below is a fab interview from Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend. Using Dove, he created this subtle look which will be easy for you to recreate!

HOW TO GET LEA MICHELE’S HAIR LOOK, nominee for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical for her breakout role in “Glee.”

Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend created a modern and fresh hair look for Lea Michele. “I wanted to give Lea a young and modern look. I played off the movement and ruffles of her gorgeous gown to give her a loose chignon that was all about soft, subtle glamour.”

Here’s how to get Lea Michele’s look:

- “One of the best parts of my job is I get to take home products before they’re available on shelves. I gave Lea the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care System a couple of weeks ago – her hair goes through a lot on her show. When using the whole system it can smooth up to 100% of roughness and frizz.

- “I told Lea to arrive with clean, just washed hair. I started her look tonight by applying Dove Nourishing Oil Care Serum to wet hair to smooth any frizz and add shine.

- “Next, to add a bit of texture and volume rake a pump of Dove Curl & Sculpt Defining Mousse throughout damp hair and blow dry with a round brush.

- “Then wrap two inch sections of hair around a ¾ inch curling iron to create big, loose curls. This will help create soft texture around the face.

- “Rub a pea sized amount of the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-In Smoothing Cream between hands. Rake fingers through the hair to distribute the product evenly and create definition and shine.

- “Pull the sides and back into a low, messy chignon at the nape of the neck and secure with bobby pins.

- “Carefully pull out pieces in the front of the hair to frame the face.

- “To finish Lea’s look I sprayed Dove Unscented Extra Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement (Aerosol) throughout the hair to give it hold without looking frozen in time. It’s a soft, “up-ish” do that looks like it could fall down at any moment, but really it’s not going anywhere!”

Mingling Mondays ~ Lea Michele Rocks 2011 Golden Globes

Last night award season continued with NBC's Golden Globe Awards of 2011. As always there were dressed that made an impact, those that were underwhelming and fortunately many that enhanced the overall look with fabulous accessories, hair and makeup! This year, Kitten Lounge's favorite was pretty in pink! We're loving Lea Michele's Oscar de la Renta gown (she knows what works best as she has embraced this designer before) that is fun, flirty and has a pop of edge to it. This gown graced the red carpet with all the elements that made this Glee cast member look phenomenal. In addition, we're loving her ring which was the perfect way to tie the entire look together.

We will be following celebrity stylist, Mark Townsend, this award season as he shares with us how he created the star's look using Dove Hair Care products We're loving that he went with a modern chignon that had a soft and subtle look to it so that she maintained her youthful look and yet played off the ruffles of this gown. Later this week, we will share how he created this look and the products that were used for the nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical for her breakout role.

Fashionable Fridays: Day 1 Spring 2011 ~ Backstage at Vena Cava With Ted Gibson

Yesterday was a first for me as I headed over to Milk Studios (as a note all coverage will have a day delay so on Day 2, you will see Day 1, etc). Although it's not at Lincoln Center and is in the Meat Packing District, I have to say that I loved being backstage, being able to work online with no issues and there is a calm at this venue in a time where everything is chaotic. I headed to Vena Cava's backstage where I was able to see Ted Gibson at work doing what he does best - hair! Here you will see him working on the bun that I think everyone will be rocking from day to night! I was also able to hang out with Jeannine Morrris of Beauty Sweet Spot so you will see her in the video as well. I have met Ted a few times but this is the first time that I have seen him work. Going from one head to the next and seeing how he communicates with hair was amazing! Enjoy the clip and seeing what it's like to be backstage!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Avon Introduces Lotus Shield

Last week was quite a week! Right before heading off to my press trip with Schick, I headed off the day before my trip to Suffern, NY to Avon's Research and Development Center! Now we all know about Avon, they have a number of products that help to make our lives better. They also have a network of representatives that bring these products to life as well. As I walked through the halls of a building that is not only architecturally pleasing but is intended to maintain conversation with scientists, we found out how nature created an innovative product that they launched, Lotus Shield. Interestingly enough it was decided that the Lotus plant was the best item that could ensure that our hair could look amazing as it would be the perfect anti-frizz control. We all know about Lily Pads and that no matter how rainy it is, they remain dry.

I love the fact that we watched the scientists show how using the Lotus Shield creates a seal on your hair when used for a week and will last for up to 3 days. In addition to being able to protect your hair, it still withstands multiple washes. As we were toured throughout many of the areas that Avon deals with (skincare, hair, beauty, etc) - I have to say that the part that left a strong memory was the Humidity Chamber. Avon tests all of their products to see what happens in various conditions, when it is shipped, etc. It's absolutely amazing and in this chamber, they simulate various temperatures on mannequin heads as well as real people. Seeing the door open and heat jumping out, we knew that Avon's commitment to providing the best product was something that they took seriously!

It was fun to enjoy the morning with fab beauty bloggers, to meet the scientists that have a hand in your favorite Avon products and to learn that this is something that they are truly passionate about! With the cost of a little bottle, I can say that you're hair is protected. We actually saw someone who had half her hair treated with this product, she was seated in the chamber and during lunch she came back with half of her hair looking silky smooth and the other half looking like the nightmare that you can only dream about in having the worst hair day ever! Take some time to check out some fun pictures (there are more on Avon's Flickr account) and then head to Avon to get your hands on this fab product!

Mingling Mondays ~ Accessories Stranded on the Red Carpet?

The Oscars was yet another great event but I was slightly saddened as the trend of a lack of accessories continues to prevail on the red carpet over the past few seasons. Since the economy took a turn, there seems to be a sense of the awards also taking steps back. When I view these shows, I still expect to see amazing gowns, women pushing the envelope in terms of colors, seeing fab hair, makeup and glitzy accessories. This year, I was entertained by a lot of dresses that hit the carpet but was saddened to see that many embraced safe golden hues, wore tonal dresses which washed them out and yet again, it seems that the accessories were either an after thought or not present at all. This trend of minimal accessories is not one that should continue to emerge season after season.

When it came to outfits that I loved there were those that hit the top of my list such as Elizabeth Banks in Versace (although I felt the dress was gorgeous but the color washed her out slightly, Mariska Hargitay in Vera Wang (she had classic accessories but more than most), Zoe Kravits in Alexis Mabille and Rachel McAdams in Ellie Saab.

This season, it seems that only one dress left me wondering how it could have been considered for this actress. I think it's a combination of the elements of the dress along with the lack of presence of Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham. We have all worn things that others look at it and know its not for them, but the presence we have in the dress makes people think of it differently. Last night, she didn't seem comfortable in this dress and it read badly. Her makeup was amazing but below her neck, it wasn't inspiring.

Zoe Saldano appearing in Givenchy last night and I'm torn on this dress. When I saw it on the Red Carpet, I saw it from the bust up and instantly fell in love with it; however, when she appeared as a presenter, I had no idea that the bottom had so much color and ruffles. I was torn between loving and hating it but she walked with such purpose that I started thinking about the dress more than many others that I saw in their entirety. I'm not sure if it was the best dress but it was the most memorable (although Rachel McAdams is a very close second choice). My only complaint is that Zoe had a gorgeous ring and earrings but I would have loved seeing an amazing cuff or at least an awesome clutch (not matching as many of those who hit the carpet went that route). Awards Season is about the glitz and glam and although it's great that not too many people had choices that were less than thrilling, it's also important to embrace color and all the glamor possible. If I had worn this dress, it would have been with a neutral shoe as I'm not a fan of her shoe in terms of color and I would have worn this ring pictured above. Although this dress is elegant it has a bit of an unleashed element to it. For all the stylists out there, I know you spend time putting the look together and understated elegance is important; however, the lack of accessories make the look slightly naked and for those of us that obsess over accessories, we hope to see more in future seasons.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Skincare For Babes

I'm not a mommy or a mommy to be but I know good products when I see it! Maybe you're like me and you have friends that are transitioning to being mommies or you have sensitive skin and you're looking for items to include within your daily regimen. I have to say that Belli Skincare should be within your knowledge base when it comes to skincare! First of all, I love that this cosmetic line is meant got the mommy who is currently pregnant, who has just had a baby and of course wants to take care of her baby as well! With a variety of products, I'm focusing on the three that are shown above (yes click on the links to find out more). The Calm Me hair and body wash is perfect for baby to have his/her wash ups! Not only is it Pediatrician Recommended but there are no dyes or parabens! The Body Firming Serum is a daily lotion that contains Pumpkin Seedcake, Shitake Mushroom and Marine Proteins in order to have your breasts, buttocks and abdomen firmed, toned and supple! Finally, the Skin Smoothing Body Exfoliator is comprised of Green Tea, Ginseng and Peppermint Oil which takes off old cells and keeps your skin fresh! This is perfect for a baby shower, babies' first birthday and so much more! I think it's important to share positive beauty care from an early age and to remind mommie to think that it's ok that she begins to take care of herself as well! I also find that it's important to know that many times these products can also be beneficial to those that may not have children but love the minerals that are within these products. My personal favorite is the exfoliator! Check out the site and be prepared for your next baby shower!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Bikini Babe Forever

GroomerWe are now in bikini season, you never know when you want to go out. There are times when you know you're going to the lake or the beach house and then there are times when you don't know that you're about to go somewhere amazing. I love the fact that you know that in a pinch you can get a pedi/mani in a jiffy! Whether you can get your appointment or you're a little tight on cash, you can always whip out an amazing nail color and make yourself look fabulous and your nails of course will look very luxe!

But now that we are all wearing our bathing suits, we need to make sure that we always look smooth and fab! The Personal Groomer by Artemis Woman ensures that our Brazilians, underarms, nose hairs and so much more will never be a problem! Not only will we have a quick fix but we have the joy of knowing that this comes in a small container that can be slipped in our bag and with one battery to power it, this is never something heavy so there is absolutely no excuses. This weekend I was in Long Beach and it was nice to do some touch-ups and to know that I would never have to worry! This is a must in our kits and there is a cute little brush that will take away any extra hairs to make it clean for future uses. Take some time to check out Artemis Woman's site to see more about this product.
