Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Brighten Up Derby & Cinco De Mayo Parties

What a week and now it's the weekend! As many of you know I am newly (within the last year or so) obsessed with this bright pink color as well as it being apart of the colors of this site and I have always been a HUGE fan of silver. I think everyday should have a pop of bling in it! Today is not only Derby Day which is huge as I grew up in Indiana and have had a few opportunities to attend the Kentucky Derby during my collegiate years as well as Cinco de Mayo which feuls my love for Margaritas (make them lychee please) and nachos! So for those of you that are kicking off the day with brunch, moving it to themed parties and of course embracing Derby and CDM (as well as the Super Moon - I mean can today get any larger) - I have the perfect casual look that you can rock!

Feel the Piece's V-neck maxi is everything and more! Walk in the room and brighten it up in an instant without saying a word! Rock it up and out with these fabulously decadent Prada sandals. Fuel your inner luna goddess with this Judith Jack Sterling Silver Marcasite cocktail ring and cap it off with this fab clutch from House of Harlow which has silver and rust - to give you just enough edge!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Let's Dance

We're not quite at the half way point this month but we're super close and I have been opening and closing projects at a whirlwind pace! With all of this activity, it's time to think about taking a mini breather and go out dancing! I love a night of just grabbing some drinks but dancing until your knees can barely stand. When I have one of those ah ha moments, I know that I have to dress up in something fabulous and just get out there! With that said, you have to start out with the king of fun pieces - Roberto Cavalli knows how to come up with a fab item. I'm loving this one shoulder dress that's black and has a pop of animal print which is definitely a signature of his. The dress is a statement on its own but of course, a girl has to rock the night in fab accessories.

I suggest, Judith Jack's fun ring which is a great wrap style, a bit of rose gold and I love the play of the gems to add a little dynamic pop in black and in grey. Continue with Free People's vintage twisted arm cuff (perfect for the arm that is left bare by this outfit). I'm loving the chandelier earrings by Pippa Small which is the perfect way to adorn your neck without being on it actually. Hold this Anya Hindmarch fun woven leather clutch for your basic necessities. Complete this look with a fab pair of Fendi pumps that let everyone know that whichever night this is being worn, will truly be epic!

Mingling Mondays ~ Classic Gets Updated

Yet another fab post that was inspired by this weekend's activities! I was doing some work when Elle's Accessory Editor tweeted out that Dial M For Murder was on TCM! I love a good Hitchcock film and to be honest, it's the perfect Halloween movie as I love a good thriller but not a scary movie that will stop me from sleeping. If you're not familiar with this movie, it includes Grace Kelly which is the epitome of style and wore so many pieces that were classic. So in putting this post together, I fell in love with this cloak which is a Ritz Saddler vintage piece that's so classic and retro - plus I love this color. We're in that season where you're going to be rocking a lot of outerwear without the opportunity of being able to take it off - so essentially, this becomes your outfit.

Since this cloak is so classic, I feel that accessories need to make some pop! I love rose gold, a pop of color and super chic python. Rose gold will look amazing with this hue as the cuff from Diana Warner is a great piece that has simplistic chic written all over it. I also love that this marcasite ring from Judith Jack is the perfect look for your finger to elongate them and of course to be the ultimate conversation piece. Mali Sabatasso brings in our pop of color with this fabulous agate pendant that has purple in it which is a phenom hue. If you're meeting the girls, add a clutch which is super classic and make it have a bit of a twist with this fab Christopher Kane plastic clutch in a varied purple hue. Finally, pull it all together with this fab pair of Christian Louboutin stone python ankle boots. I love the banded look and the fact that it picks up the hues of the cloak.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Blush at Home

When you work from home, you get to dress as you wish. There are times when you're home and you know people may be popping in and out or you simply want to look luxe from home. There's nothing wrong with blushing from home. Start off by staying comfy by rocking Elizabeth and James kimono which is so cute and sexy as well. Pair this with a fab pair of heels from Gucci as they're hand stitched and fabulous. Now blush it to a whole other level with a number of fab accessories, I'm OBSESSED with this Effy Collection ring which has rose gold and diamonds within it - love the etching! If you need to know the time, make sure you rock this fab watch which has the perfect amount of bling. Judith Jack rocks rose gold as well as marcasite in this fab necklace pendant. I have been a huge fan of them ever since I attended an Accessories Council event. Finally I love this bracelet from Carolina Bucci which is a super cute cuff. Together, everything makes you look super regal and happy and of course - ready for work!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Romp it Up

We had a reprieve from the crazy heat that we have been experiencing in the city lately! It's supposed to be 90 today but since I am running around everywhere, I'm still going to dress with heat in mind. I''m such a fan of the short romper as you can always layer something on top of it in instances where it gets to be a bit cool and yet you always look dressed no matter where you go! Pair it with this fab ring from Judith Jack. I have a necklace from this portion of the collection that I love and know that this is the perfect piece to rock on your hand. A fab necklace from Carol Marie is not only oxidized but is a conversation piece that makes you so on trend. Finally, pair it simply with fun sandal shoes from Juicy Couture.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Statement Piece's in A Flash

As many of you know, I'm involved in various networks and one of them is being a Lucky Style Blogger (we all remember when I got to throw the super fun Lucky Magazine's Pretty Party that I hosted with Dior Beauty and Bloomingdales event in May)! Lucky Magazine reached out to me awhile ago and let me know that they had a challenge that involved me going to Michaels Art and Crafts store (courtesy of their gift card) to make the ultimate jewelry Statement Piece! Now this challenge may have been deemed unfair (but I'm an Accessories Expert so obviously I knew this would be fun) as my most dedicated Kittens know that for years I had my own jewelry line of natural stones under the label Kitten Couture which focused on necklaces. But with my new love of stacked bracelets, it allowed me to have some fun and get back into something that I find to be truly calming in the midst of filming segments, traveling and designing. I knew I should make something fab for Fourth of July to unveil it at a fun penthouse party. Below, you can see me rocking my signature Summer 2011 look kaftan which I simply paired with flip flops and my wrap bracelet. Below, you can find out how I did this and how super easy it is!

Pictured above, my boyfriend Paul, my sister and publicist Dorian and me (I'm rocking my Kaftan [Forever 21], Oversized Sunnies [Marc Jacobs], Necklace [Judith Jack] and Lizbeth [Wrap Bracelet of my design courtesy of Michaels Arts & Crafts] - Additional Accessories detailed below as they are on my other wrist)!

So my readers know I love a boho chic sense of style utilizing neutrals and a pop of color here or there. In addition, I love having lots of charms bracelets to add a little depth, whimsy and personality into the overall look. In addition, it's super important to me that I have natural pieces in my look. So a la my design days in jewelry, I created a piece that incorporated Carnelian which is a gorge orange/peach tone, Turquoise, Citrine, Mother of Pearl, Snail Shell and Agate to create a look that played with texture and can truly be worn with anything. I also opted to select stringing cord in an orange hue as well. What I love about this thread is that it is meant to be used on beading, is durable and after cutting your desired length, I find that it is best to get at least 2 additional strings of the same length so that it is more durable for the beads, especially if you have large ones with smaller ones! Simply put, this style of bracelet can be done with the beads of your choice and can be completed by tying off the ends. Moments before heading out the door you can have a fab new look without worrying about closures which can take a bit more time!

Celeb Stylist, Lori Goldstein, once told me that you definitely should rock bracelets on both sides of your wrists as it makes everything look much better. I took that advice from last September' NY Fashion Week and have definitely put it to good use! On my left hand, I can be found rocking a number of charm bracelets from Good Charma, Swarovski, Alex & Ani and so much more. But in creating this wrap style bracelet, I love that it goes around my wrist three times, wears very lightly but that I added extra string for times I want it tightened and times I don't. I also love that you can let it hang which only enhances the boho look that I was going for!

The result is a fun, easy breezy look that you can opt to wear alone as well as with a number of fun pieces! If you opt to make it longer, you can also do it as a necklace! The big take away for me in this project was that Michaels is everywhere in my hometown of Indianapolis; however, in NYC you have to go to Columbus Ave in the 90's to get your fix - but it's worth it! They've come a long way from being my destination to get puffy paints to make those cute tees. Being someone who has designed jewelry, I have my fave spots in the garment district that are meant for wholesalers; however, I was pleasantly surprised that Michaels had many of the same items within their own selection! I opted to go with a threading version as you don't need all the tools that you would need if you wanted to use flex wire; however, they did have this as well as the cutting tools, nose pliers to squeeze the findings for closures and more! You can definitely do a fun DIY project and with my $50 card, I was able to make a successful piece that will be so cute to continue to wear and plays well with my existing jewelry!

My creation plays well with my go to pieces: Ring [Virgins, Saints & Angels Ring], Silver Beaded Bracelet [Good Charma], Turquoise Bracelet and Silver Bracelets [Alex & Ani], Green and Fuschia Bracelets [Swarovski] and Beaded Bracelet [Nagicia]

Make sure you channel your style and create your own Statement Piece by enjoying this Michaels Coupon offer! They're definitely a great place to assist in making your accessory look your own!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Accessories Council Mother's Day Tweet Up

We'll continue to add to the images that were involved at this rainy day but amazing Tweet Up by the Accessories Council at the Marchon Eyewear showroom. Now of course this event was geared towards Mother's Day picks but I found so many items that were amazing that were on my personal list. As someone who is a huge fan of accessories and an Accessories Expert, this event was one that I couldn't miss and had to personally be there for! Although we enjoyed sipping wine as well as nibbling on cookies from Rogue Tomate, there was serious business that had to be taken care of.

First off with all the travel that I do, I'm loving the super large Nine West quilted Leopard Tote bag (available next month) which is perfect for hopping on and off of flights. I think it's an essential regardless of whether you're a soccer mom or your mom runs to the spas with you! I'm also LOVING the Judith Jack fabulous Marcasite necklaces that we were given as they remind of the blue diamond in the Titanic movie! Collette Malouf was in attendance showing us how to rock amazing headbands that took our looks to the next level! In addition, I love the charm bracelet by Good Charma bracelet (more deets here) that we received as I have been collecting them for a period of time and definitely want to see how many I will have by the end of the summer - this is the perfect way to update your look and to add some whimsy and elements of depth to your look! I also think that mom (and definitely I love) the MCM Key fob or handbag accessory Enjoy the gallery of fun images from a rainy night that had us all buzzing!
