Swoonfest Saturdays: Philly Edition ~ Culture & Shopping Weekend

Fri morning, Paul and I left for Philly! This weekend is all about enjoying a number of Philly's cultural spots, checking out amazing designers, doing some retail therapy and taking in some hot spots of Philly as well! Thanks to the amazing team from Visit Philly, they sent me here to enjoy all of this and more! You can follow along with my adventures by following @Cocoabebe or seeing the hashtags #VisitPhilly #PhillyMade or my hashtag #AccessoriesWeekend! Yesterday, I enjoyed browsing in some shops, checking out a number of eateries Marathon (lunch) and The Dandelion Pub (dinner). Of course there will be full posts about everything but right now, I'm off to take in a bit of culture with a viewing of "Come See About Me: The Mary Wilson Supremes Collection" at The African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Snazzy Sundays: Charleston Edition ~ Bring On the Foodie

I ended the week in Charleston, South Carolina as one of Shoe Week's clients were in need of our styling services for their inclusion within Charleston Fashion Week. Due to a number of things going on, I couldn't be there for an extended period so with less than 24 hours in a town that I had heard quite a bit about (once upon a time, I worked at Lacoste in the corporate headquarters as an Assistant to the Sr VP and at that time, our Chairman and CEO Bob Siegel was from Charleston and lived there while also spending half his week in NYC), I wanted to take in as much as I could. After settling into my hotel, I hit King St to check out stores, shops and of course, I had a checklist of items that I wanted to hit!

I love the quaint streets and the mix of some of my fave stores such as Williams Sonoma, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie etc with local shops such as Dumas and Sons. Since I hadn't eaten, lunch sent me to Boone's Bar where I checked off a Firefly Vodka cocktail - their Firefly Mojito was phenomenal. I love that this bar and restaurant had sports on, exposed brick and was excellent for people watching. With food being made to order, it was a little wait time but not by much and was so worth it when enjoying their Brie burger which also included mushrooms and some onions - so juicy.

After lunch and site seeing, I was off to Marion Square, the site of Charleston Fashion Week. With a flurry of shows, last minute run throughs and seeing how shoes provided by United Nude would look like with the perfect look from Expatriate Clothing, it was time to head back to my hotel (Holiday Inn, Historic Downtown) and to go to their restaurant, The Meeting Room. My dinner consisted of Shrimp and Grits with Andouille Sausage - such an amazing grouping of flavors as I love grits and can eat them in their savory state or sweet! I paired this with Fried Oysters which sat on a bed of diced vinegar green tomatoes! My drink was a Days Gone By which included Bourbon (everyone knows that this is one of my favorite spirits), RC Cola and a few other items mixed in. Most importantly, it was garnished with a Moonpie Wedge! I believe it had an orange flavor but it complimented the drink well and was the perfect item to complete this meal!

There will be a full recap on the show that I styled as well as the designer but for now, I'm definitely thinking that going back for their Wine and Food Festival next year would be a great idea!

Trendy Thursdays: Event ~ Dr Loretta Brunch

On a rainy afternoon earlier this week, I headed to Milos for a Beauty Brunch that was hosted by my friend and Social Media Director, Michelle Joni Lapidos of Spa Week - also make sure to check out their blog as well. The brunch allowed attendees to sit and chat skincare with Miami Beach based Dermatologist, Dr Loretta who has her own practice, a skincare line in her own name as well as a line that does private label for various spas. For those that follow Kitten Lounge on Facebook, you saw a number of my videos popping up talking about how gum (sugarless free is suggested) is great to keep your neck muscles firm, her skincare's innovation with stem cells that contain lavendar as well as other information regarding African Americans and the types of peels that they should use. The video above shares why we should apply new beauty products to only half of our face as they are done during clinical trials! It's a great way of seeing how well the product works for you and what results you can expect to see - a novel idea and one that we should always remember to do!

In addition to a fabulous lunch, we were able to have many of our skincare issues answered as well as to test a number of products within the Dr Loretta line including Age Change Daily Moisturizer (includes SPF 30+ which is perfect to use day and night), Age Change Body (which is great for all skin types and allows your skin to glow) and Age Change Eye (which lessens dark circles, bags and puffiness and protects the thin skin that is around the eye area). These can be purchased individually OR you can select the Age Change Kit which allows you to receive the Age Change Body for free when you purchase the Age Change Eye as well as the Age Change Face (which is the daily moisturizer).

Trendy Thursdays ~ Relax Your Face

What a day today will be! Meetings, lunch, putting out fires and then going to one of a few Halloween parties! This season, I will be going as myself with fab outfits and fun accessories! When it comes to looking amazing, it's about prepping as well as soothing your skin after you have placed makeup to enjoy a night out! Prior to getting a phenom look, make sure that you begin to drink your beauty in by enjoying Functionalab's Detox Formula Beauty Dose! You can also try out a number of other beauty loves that you'll enjoy having in your daily routine! When you have finished your look and are ready to come back to yourself, try one of 2 scrubbers - I'm loving St Ives' apricot scrub or Fresh's Sugar Face Polish which leaves your skin feeling succulent. Finally, make your skin super happy by moisturizing your face with Sibu Beauty's Daily Facial Cream that I use everyday.

Fashionable Fridays ~ Pack & Go

I have been on Fresh Diet for about 2 weeks now and this wasn't done as a means to lose weight per se but to be able to focus on working out and to have no excuse in terms of having well balanced meals to eat. Generally, I skip breakfast (I know huge no no), have a small lunch and then I chow down for dinner. It's been my habit for years and with all the events that I go to - it's tough to eat regular meals as well as to find the time to make something or order something. Enter Fresh Diet!

Now I have been asked what do meals look like as you've seen me tweeting about some of my fave meals including Curried Egg Salad on pita, Beef Thai Salad and various fish dishes (via tweeting with the brand yesterday @FreshDiet, I was told that they are having a cookbook that will come out either late this fall or early winter - yum! Each night a package is on my door and they are nicely packed within a little tote with ice packs. You have a nice breakfast, lunch, dinner and depending on your choices - two snacks or a snack and a dessert! Now I can run home in the middle of the day to grab a meal or when I'm typing away, I can nibble on a super healthy snack. It's quick, easy and it's doable whether I'm rocking my gym clothes, loungewear or dressed to head out. Plus regardless of whether I'm rocking a fab boho style or just running around - one thing is off my mind, "what am I going to eat"?

Fashionable Fridays ~ Rocking Out With Fresh Diet

As I mentioned last week, it's all about staying healthy on Kitten Lounge whether it's for a designated event or your lifelong process. Each Fri, you're going to find fab ways to get styled to look fab but to dress appropriately at the gym. Right now, my obsession is workout leggings! Not only are they comfy but it pulls together your look in such a great way! Stella McCartney's yoga stretch jersey pants are definitely a must! I've been wearing these pants this week during my workouts. I love tanks and once again this Nike tank has that great fashionable look while also being suitable for hitting the machines. Complete the look by this brands' hoodie - especially when the weather begins to turn. I love Puma's and this is a cute look. I love sporting grey and black and although I pair down my jewelry when I work out, I don't exercise without at least a little bling. I'm loving Emily Armenta's ring which is definitely something you'll notice when you're on the elliptical.

Earlier this week, I've been tweeting out about Fresh Diet. No I'm not looking to lose a lot of weight as I'm a size 2 but I do believe that it's important to stay toned. As you know, I'm always traveling for work, running to events and attending brand meetings for collaborations. This means I'm grabbing food on the go or I'm so tired when I get home that I may not be making the most healthy choices (or falling asleep out of pure exhaustion). Whether you're like is super crazy or you feel that you need portion control, Fresh Diet is a customizable meal plan that creates order out of your culinary life. First you select how long your plan will be for (mine is a month), how many calories you wish to eat (I picked 1100 - 1200) and then comes the fun part. Go to your pantry and select the items that you don't like by food category. This will help you when you start selecting your daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and dessert - if you opt out of dessert you can have another snack or appetizer) as it will alert you when an ingredient you don't like is included within an item you selected. For every meal, you choose between a small selection of items and each day, you get a new series of items to choose from! Once you select, you wait for your meal to arrive which is at your door (or in my case doorman). When you've completed your meal, you can place your bag outside and they swap it - no intrusion, no worries about waiting around for the delivery and all the heating instructions are included on your handy dandy menu. I'm a huge fan and have had such a fab selection and I love that a rep reaches out to ask how everything is going. If you need to halt a delivery, everything can be managed within your account online - easy! It's definitely worth checking out and I love that they are sponsoring us in our #KLFitness as we tone up for Fashion Week.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ His Style - Rising Temps

We've had some days here and there that are only a promise of the hot temperatures that are bound to be apart of our everyday norm! So in addition to carry the proper SPF and staying hydrated, having simple pieces that are perfect for running errands, grabbing lunch and more are an essential. The classic cargo short is a mainstay in many guys closets and should be one that you have in a number of colors. Keep it simple with fun tees, simple sandals and of course - sunnies are an absolute must to keep your eyes shielded! I'm also loving that these Lacoste sunglasses features in today's post was one of many goodies that can be found in the Accessories Council top picks that are perfect for Father's Day as well!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Inner Snowbunny

Usually, Friday is my day to work a bit and then get the weekend started early but today I have meetings that I will head to, a lunch date and a conference call. I guess today I really will be working until 5pm right before the start of the weekend! But I do love that my job allows my style of dress to be very flexible. Today you will see me wear the look above which is chic, warm and super cute! We are still having issues with snow here in NYC so I'm rocking snow bunny chic for sure - cute jeans, a plaid button down and Sorel Boots. This look is completed with fab accessories innncludinga phenomenal handbag that is perfect when you're running from showrooms, Koi and then a coffee stop. Get the look that shows how to wear snow chic complete with gear while still looking phenom!

Mingling Mondays ~ Making the Trek

For those of you in NYC, you know that we were hit with some snow which may have canceled some of your plans whether you were flying in (like our friend. Fashion Director of Lookbooks Sam - who is stuck in my home state) or just maneuvering around the city whether it was for work or a determination to make it to a boozy lunch! Whatever it is, it's definitely cold and having some snow boots are a necessity without a question. But just because you have to think warm doesn't mean that you have to dress down. This is a super cute look that will work when you're running around the city and yet, when you take off your coat you can still look photo shoot ready for whatever happens after your first sip. In fact, once you're done you can begin to hone in on finishing your look for New Year's Eve which is the most important outfit of the year!

Mingling Mondays ~ Kick Off Earth Week @ il Buco

Now you guys know that we love il Buco and I think that Paul's coverage of their pig roast in Sidewalk Heaven was one of his highest videos to date! So we're glad to include them in another post as Earth Day kicks off its 40th year and as many of us know there are activities going on all week all over the city! For the 3rd year in a row, il Buco will reduce its customers total LUNCH bill by 15% for one week and 20% for late Afternoon Lunch (monday, April 19 - Saturday, April 24). In turn, il Buco will donate, out of its pocket, the 15% saved by its guests. Basically, if someone spends $100 at lunch, they will only pay $85 (or $80) and il Buco will donate $15 or $20. The food is phenomenal and you get the opportunity to save a little on your meal while helping Mother Earth!

Specifically, all proceeds will go to protecting the Amazon Rainforest (known as the "Lung of the Earth") through the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the world's oldest and largest global environmental network. This is a great cause and that il Buco believes in as it supports the sustainable agriculture movement and wants to continue raising awareness on this issue - pass this along and support so that we can all continue to enjoy the Earth's resources!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Fresh Start

If you're like me, you have plans to spend with your family for the New Years breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. We had some people over last night and as much fun as it was at the time, between a slight hangover (ps I just saw the Hangover over the holiday and I love that movie) and wishing that I spent it in Miami - I'm still in the sun state of mind! With that in mind, next year I must ring in the new year in warmth so I could wear something like this that's super easy breezy and simply needs accessories. After eating, I can head back to the beach or to a spa so that I can be completely relaxed! Here's to 2010 and even if you can't wear this right now, this is still a fab look for some type of hot spot!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Go Green Expo

Since Friday, the city has continued on with Earth Day activities with the Go Green Expo that has taken place in the city. This is a great way to see how you can go green at work, home and anywhere in between. There are seminars, a variety of booths and more. With everyone talking about this concept, this is a great event to learn how to put it in to practice and to see the dedication on various levels where this is being put into operation! I am actually attending today which is the shortest of this week's schedule. I am definitely excited to taste the food, wine and to just learn how I can start applying this into my everyday life and of course to share with others. Visit the site to see what interests you and since it is being held at the Hilton on 53rd and 6th Ave, you'll be near some great areas to have lunch or dinner afterwards.

Fashionable Fridays: NYFW SS08 ~ Peter Som

Peter_som_ss08dlr_ny_som_219_mediumNo matter where you are there is always a runway show going on somewhere across one of the many catwalks that are on the globe! No matter what you have access to them whether you were in the venue or you look at a variety of shows via amazing sources. One of those great sources includes Coutorture which brings the best of fashion, blogs such as this one and of course amazing editorials as well!

This runway show is from Peter Som during his SS08 Runway show. Although this look is being presented within this post, you can visit the site to see the rest of the amazing outfits that were presented during the show. I love that this look takes the idea of "Lady in Red" to another level. I love that this dress has the look of the "Ladies Who Lunch" but isn't stuffy and can have a lot of fun! This dress is definitely like a lot of other pieces within his collection in that the cocktail style of dress is played up and has a lot of fun elements. This can definitely be worn with the sweetest of ballet flats and of course, a great pair of heels as well. Of course, you can find more amazing designers on Coutorture as well.

Restaurant Week runs from this week through the next excluding weekends. Wearable Wednesdays ~ Feed A Nation

Feedfeed There are so many ways that we can assist others that I love sharing certain organizations that I feel is something that you should know about! Lauren Bush is seen here (picture courtesy of AP) posing with the bags that are apart of the Feed 1 Initiative (yes she did in fact design these bags) in London. I love that the bags are reversible so you can take this so many areas without wondering if it might get a little dirty. She aims to raise awareness and funds for the United Nations World Food Programmers. By doing so, funds raised from this go towards children that are hungry and in need of attending school as well. These bags are 100% organic fair trade and they provide lunch for a year for one child! How amazing is this and of course you can learn more by visiting the website and get a bag of your own as well for under $60!
