Snazzy Sundays ~ Kiki Inspires Decor

Your living space can take a few cues from some of your most beloved closet treasures! In honor of October being National PJ Month, I had to select Kiki de Montparnasse's Amour Lace Trimmed Silk Chiffon Camisole which is sweet and super cute to wear as your wrapped up in your cashmere blankie and super cute cashmere knee high socks! With that said, this great cream color can be accented with browns as well as tones of pink. These colors can be done in such a way that it looks amazing whether it's with your significant other, your bedroom, kitchen or living room!

I'm loving this Victorian inspired vase by Anthropologie which is a nice accent piece. This cabinet is a nice antiqued feature (I'm obsessed) from Rooms to Go that adds a bit of character and yet allows you to store a number of items in there that don't need to be out and about. Everyone knows that I'm all about taking your tea throughout the day so of course when I saw this set by Horchow I knew it would be a fab way to bring in a bit of the nip and chill. As you send your thank you notes as you're setting up a nice way to entertain guests for at home brunches, Neiman Marcus has you covered. All of your tasty goodies can be made with this white on white mixer by Diane Von Furstenberg you can have a phenom boho chic modern inspired sleeping space that allows you to have a great base of color while also adding in fun pops that are for you and your favorite guests or living partner!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Sake in Style

Today is National Sake Day which kicks off the sake season (and the 1st day of October can you believe next month is Thanksgiving!?!)! My Glammie Kittens know that I love sake and enjoy drinking it with a number of dishes but on this day, it's all about having it with Sushi. Of course you could go out and enjoy an amazing spread but sushi is so amazing when it's made at home and you can invite people over. So how does one create a snazzy sushi spread? First of all you have to have great beverages I'm a huge fan of Gekkeikan which is one of the leading brands with a number of sakes and plum wines within their company! Below, I have a fab recipe that you can make. For those who love sake, they can have it alone or make a nice martini. Plum wine is always a nice sweet beverage to have as well to shake it up a bit! Above is an image of the rice patties where they harvest the crop in order to make the decadent sake that will be enjoyed throughout the year! I'm loving the Sake cups and pitchers that are great way to jazz up your affair available at Sur La Table.

As many of you know, one of my dear friends works with Uoriki Fresh which comes from the Tsukiji Markets in Japan. They're known for a style of frozen fish that allows it to arrive here in the US fresh after you thaw it out by simply leaving it on your counter before you begin using it. With this fish, you can make a number of rolls which is fun to do whether you do it in advance or have guests come to make their own! Definitely make it easier on yourself by having a rice cooker which ensures perfection each time and is available at Williams Sonoma. In terms of presentation it's all about having phenom chopsticks (loving the stainless steel) which you can get from Cooking.com and these GORG Agate plates and coasters which add a nice natural flair thanks to Viva Terra. Finally, the guest needs to match the sentiment of the event. During NYFW, I rocked this Nanami dress during my Meet and Greets at Robert Verdi for the launch of my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 line. This dress by Josie Natori can be worn alone or over leggings if you choose. I love that although it's not quite a kimono, it's done in the style and essence of one and has gorgeous colors and tones to it! Make your night or brunch fabulous today and below is one of my fave drinks known as the Gekkeikan Apple Blossom by Todd Richman.

Gekkeikan Apple Blossom by Todd Richman

4 parts Gekkeikan Sake

1 part Kobai Plum Wine

1 part Cranberry Juice

1 part Apple Juice

Top with Ginger Ale

Combine ingredients (except the ginger ale) in a mixing glass, add ice and shake well. Pour into a tall glass and top with ginger ale. Garnish with a green apple slice.

Snazzy Sundays: 63rd Emmy's ~ Kelly Osbourne

If you're like me, you're tuning into E's Red Carpet to see what the stars are wearing. It's my favorite portion of the Emmy's to see what everyone is going to be wearing. For those that are tuning in at 5pm EST, you'll find that the first hour is dedicated to predictions and Fashion Police! Moments before Kelly Osbourne went on, she tweeted out this phenom J Mendel dress which looks amazing on her. I love the Kelly has definitely stepped up her fashion game over the past few years and has become someone to watch! In addition, I love her shoot for Palladium Jewelry which you can see in a number of magazines (and yes I did shoot a Get Palladium Pretty campaign which is in Cosmo's October issue as well as a fun video).

Of course I would have paired the following accessories with this look as I love a bit of that aged look with my jewelry. Due to the dress having such a statement effect, I love that you can choose these fun whimsical elements that can add to the entire look! Stay tuned for more looks that I'm loving by checking out my She's Kimmie Tumblr page to see other quick snaps of some of my fave looks (Kelly Osbourne, Christina Hendricks and Padma Lakshmi)!

UPDATE: Kelly did confirm that she is wearing Palladium which you can find out more about this light weight, luxe jewelry and of course find out how you can win a piece of your very own by visiting - Get Palladium Pretty.

Wearable Wednesdays: NYFW SS12 ~ Kimmie, Cosmo & Palladium

It's been a busy Fashion Week season. Although we're viewing looks for next spring, on newsstands now is the October issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine! This summer I shot a campaign for Palladium Jewelry (if you have yet to see ads, you must check out Rose McGowan, Kelly Osbourne and Pamela Anderson) which was amazing and then did a fun video doing what I do best, talking about Fashion and Style! As many of you know, I am apart of the Beauty, Brains and Blogs network which was created by the publishers of Cosmo Magazine which was announced in September's issue. In this month's issue, you can find out how you can win an amazing piece from their massive collection by visiting and learning about how you can Get Palladium Pretty! Below you can see the video I shot!

Fashionable Fridays ~ The Style Pod Sets Sail

My schedule is an interesting mix from attending my fashion, music and social media events. In addition, there are those who I hang out within and outside of these worlds or I'm always referred to someone that I must meet. Who knows when it actually happens and I find that I only see some people at set events or I'm always making promises. These events are always fun but after 3 or 4 hours it's over and I know that it'll be another Fashion Week, brunch meet up etc before I can hang out again!

It was over Christmas that I began creating Style Pod. I loved the idea of those in fashion, beauty and social media coming together. I'm not going to lie, it was the success of Jason Keath's Social Fresh Cruise where attendees cruised while they attended seminars to discuss social media and social good! I love that he's doing his second annual trip and I do plan on attending! That being said, I wanted to do the same thing for our industry during October! Bringing together those who are bloggers, stylists or anyone that has an interest in beauty, fashion and social media was key! In addition, we will also have a few seminars that look at how social is used within this area! I knew that I wanted to bring in Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot who shares her passion for beauty online and is also a personality on CBS and was on E's Red Carpet show at the Emmys! Karen Robinovitz was also someone that I knew had to be apart of this Style Pod! As the Creatrix of Purple Lab NYC, Karen is a fabulous mentor in showing how to launch a cosmetic brand; moreover, launching it online! Together we will present interesting seminars on style and social media.

As much as I love learning how others use the space to present their sites and brands, I enjoy meeting people and getting to know them! What better way to do this then to be on a 4 night cruise that leaves Ft Lauderdale, sails to Key West and continues to Cozumel! The night before we leave on this voyage on Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas, we will have a Bon Voyage party for those that will be in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area. Not only will this party include those going on the trip, but various social/traditional medias as well! With so many details about this trip, check out Cruise Deals.com which is our fabulous partner in working with us to put this trip together in Oct of this year! With limited spots available, there is a dedicated team working on creating a fabulous trip that I hope that we can do every year! More details will follow! Reserve your spot with a low deposit to secure your space for you and your friends!

Snazzy Sundays: It's All About Lobster

We're having our second annual Lobster Broil at the condo and I'm super excited as it's nice to have it in October but it's much more fun when it's in June! I just got our invitations which are a mix of lobster and Madras shorts - images to follow soon! But more importantly, there are so many things to get when you're hosting a party that goes throughout the day and will have around 30 people there. The main event is lobster so here I have some of the essentials, the pot, lobster crackers (Crate & Barrel is such a must when you're having a gathering) and the lobster forks. Of course, Crystal of Tasty Morsels Bakery is not only coming but is supplying these cookies which are the cutest things ever! So glad that she's bringing them so that everyone can see how much of a hit they are!!! Whatever you're doing, make sure you have a theme and you stay true it. In addition, plan as much as you can in advance to guarantee that you get the most people possible for your event!

Sippin Saturdays: Lunch With A.W. Gryphon

Fashionable Fridays are always about amazing fashions and people and I am so excited to share a great interview that I had earlier this month. At the beginning of the month, I tweaked your interest with a post about an interesting novel that recently came out and I let you know that throughout Oct, you would get to know more about it! Last week, during Thursday's Beauty Segment we presented various beauty treatments/rituals that appear within the pages of A.W. Gryphon's novel, Blood Moon; moreover; she generated this list.

Today's post brings tidbits of the novel while also learning about the author as well. Blood Moon is a novel that not only looks at the typical theme of good and evil but presents a well researched look on what happens through time and how many choices and decisions may not be of your own free will. In Amelia, the main character, we are also presented with the age old question of nature versus nurture and which one plays out. More importantly, this book doesn't focus on the choices made but creates an understanding of how events can come into play to allow someone to go in one direction versus another. As an outside observer, we are able to see how the individual people and events are very intricate puzzle and at the conclusion of this novel which is apart of a three book series, you find yourself pleased to be apart of the journey while being as conflicted as Amelia herself.

In addition to this, this story is very October appropriate whether you are focused on Halloween or Harvest principles. This story looks and follows various historic times in history in terms of Witches and Wiccans. While this theme plays on, we can also appreciate the very modern world that Amelia lives in which includes Chanel, the need to infuse beauty regimines within daily life, a love of art and as we leave her native San Francisco, we are also pleased to embrace London where most of the story takes place. This book was so compelling that it was extremely difficult to tear myself away and as I closed the last page, I wished that it was next Spring when the next chapter is slated to arrive. In addition, Gryphon took great care to think about the names of each character and to ensure that everyone matched what their personalities were meant to be.

Without giving too much away, I was left with so many questions - why was this topic chosen, what am I supposed to come away with in reading this book and most importantly who is A.W. Gryphon. One of the things that I am very appreciative of is the open dialogue between myself, Ms Gryphon and her assistant! We shared so many ideas in terms of how I wanted to introduce her to all of you and I loved that she was very hands on! So it was all of this goodwill and excitement that I took with me as I entered Saks on a Sun to have a lunch session with the author herself. In addition, As I left the chocolate cafe, passed through the amazing 8th floor of shoes and met Gryphon in the actual cafe we were supposed to meet, I realized that various nonverbal clues were telling me a lot about her!

I loved that she had already begun to shop for shoes and that I loved the handbag that she carried, as someone who is a huge fan of accessories - I am always on the lookout for this. I also love that she had an amazingly simple and yet fashionable outfit. Decked out in James Perse, with her hair pulled up, I knew that she was everything like the person who I emailed weeks earlier and she had an ease of character that flows through the book compelling you to continue reading.

During lunch, I asked Allison how she became inspired to write this book! Surprisingly, I found out that she is not a practicing witch or Wiccan; however, she researched it so well that I had assumed that she was. In addition, this book reflects bits of her own footprints in that she grew up in San Francisco and loved the idea of strong women (which you will find in the book) and was introduced to various religions which created an interest in general. She also loves London which is why it became the backdrop of the novel and is why art was such an importance in the book as well.

Interestingly enough, this novel does not depict the witch in terms of the expected "hocus pocus", rather it creates a quick historical education of the celtic Druid tradition. There is a focus on the strength of women and their importance in the cycle of life. More importantly, Amelia is a character that we can identify with that has the same ups and downs that women have.

When reading this novel it is completely cinematic and I began to wonder who would star in this movie. Interestingly enough, we both agreed that one of the characters, Jeremy who plays a significant role in Amelia's upbringing - we equally loved the idea of Jeremy Irons or Anthony Hopkins to play the part. Gryphon's wishlist also include a young Cate Blanchett to play Amelia. Finally, Dorian who is a central figure in the opposing group of witches could be a David Bowie - hands down. I hope to see this book as a movie and to see who the actual characters would be.

What intrigued me about this book is learning about Gryphon herself! I llove the fact that she is an accomplished screenwriter (we will cover her films later this month), she created a novel simply from an interest and research. Finally, her sense in giving back to various charities is also important. We are both involved in Surfrider's Organization as we believe in clean waters that we can all enjoy, she believes in the Shambala Preserve which is run by Tippi Hedren and strives to be a safe haven for big cats that have been mistreated and she is also apart of the Entertainment Industry Foundation which supports various causes as Breast Cancer. I love someone who believes in various causes and follows their passions as well. Make sure that you take a moment to visit Blood Moon's website; moreover, it is available on Barnes & Noble and Amazon!

Wearable Wednesdays: Lavish Yourself

Happy Harvest everyone! There are three months left of the year and this is definitely a great time. Kitten Lounge is officially a year old today and it has been an amazing time with all the coverage and we have so many goodies which we will let you guys know more about. But on to a very serious issue! As summer ended, I came face to face with a hard reality - I didn't have a fall bag! Even more gasp worthy is that I switched back to last fall's bag until I found the right one. Being someone that loves my handbags and is an accessory queen, this move was met with mixed emotion - I definitely want to sport a new find but I am pleased that I have an eye for things that are timeless. So when I found out about Ellie Handbags and her fall/winter collection, I started wishing that I could get one of these bags in an instant.

Ellie Schwimmer Carotti (yes that would be David Schwimmer's sister) is a trendsetter, so much so that her line  brings the trends of Italy to her customers here in the states before they are even big here! Who wouldn't want to carry something that will get multiple stares not only because it's fabulous but ahead of its time as well. Ellie Handbags have various skins such as deer, snakeskin and supple leather. Now it's essential with the holiday season right around the corner, that we have all of our accessories in line. Now more than ever it's important that we add a lot of pop into our lives. Ellie knows how to make a fabulous black bag but with the use purple and red which are dominant colors for this season - she knows how to take a classic body and to make it something absoluely drool worthy! Stay ahead of the trends and look at our gallery of our favorite finds from this collection. If you love what you see here, there are plenty more items that you can look at as well that will fit your style well!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Introducing Lindsey Yung

I am such a fan of music and have such a wide interest but, when I'm working, I have a very specific type of music that I could work to for hours. When I first found out about Lindsey Yung, I was intrigued by this piano playing singer/songwriter. I love the fact that she plays solo and that although I would classify her as a pop artist, she also has Hawaiian influences and although I didn't see this through the video, With Every Breath, she also plays the ukulele (as shown below).

This San Diego artist whose CD will be released October 2008, on her birthday no less, can be seen within her videos and performing live in long skirts of vibrant colors. I also love that she performs in her bare feet! After two years of work, if you happen to be in the San Diego area on October 4th, you'll be able to see her perform and to get her CD as well. Lindsey is such a celebrated singer/songwriter who finds her inspiration from the beautiful landscape of Maui. Enjoy the video and hear more snippets from her Myspace page.
