Treasure Tuesdays: Philly Edition ~ #PhillyMade #AccessoriesWeekend

This past weekend, I was invited via the Philly Tourism Board as last weekend was all about focusing on fashion, culture and just living it up when this city is only an hour and a half via train from NYC! Paul and I hit Amtrak and once we got into the city, we checked in at Kimpton's Hotel Palomar which is always a favorite of ours. Since it was pretty warm for a Spring day, Paul and I walked around the city to check out fun stores, historic buildings and of course good food! Roll over the above images to check out what Paul and I were up to on our first day in the city. Over the next few days, you'll see more of what we were up to as we had quite the itinerary!

Mingling Mondays: SS2012 Trends ~ Post NYFW R & R

Scroll your mouse over the images to find out more info and to shop directly

Labor Day is always bittersweet as it lets you know that the summer in my area is coming to a close so I have to enjoy every moment of the warm weather as well as that it's an insane period of time when it comes to the Fashion Calendar! As many of you know, I am not enjoying BBQs, parties and more as I am balancing my Fashion Week calendar in terms of coverage for Kitten Lounge as well as puting the finishing touches on Shoe Week which launches the very day that NYFW does! With that said, there's much to do and as anyone knows - even when the event is over, there are the recaps. But I have the above vision of Bora Bora in my head which is all the zen that one needs to know as the days will fly by and Paul and I will get to take a brief hiatus with all that one needs to make the above picture complete!

Check out why the above items are my favorite from Balenciaga, Marni, Pucci, YSL, DVF, and what resort is on the top of my list!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Carol's Daughter at EMF

While I was away at the Essence Music Festival at Crest, there were a number of celebrities making the rounds throughout New Orleans! Carol's Daughter had their pop up shop which allowed people to buy a number of their products AND to get a chance to chit chat with a number of celebrities! Unfortunately, I was in the midst of doing my Meet and Greets at Crest but I had to share two of my favorite people that I wanted to see if my times had meshed a little better - Erica from Mary Mary (which I ended up seeing later at NOLA Emeril's restaurant later that night) and who is pictured next to founder, Lisa Price and of course Tank! One of my fave products right now is the Macadamia Hold and Control Smoother which my boyfriend uses all the time to style his hair. I love that not only is this a fab product in terms of unisex use but as many of you know Paul is Italian, Sicilian and Hungarian and loves this in his hair so it's definitely a multi -texture tool! He loves using this on the front of his hair for a thicker look as he uses another styling gel for his sides for a sleek look and then another for the back. You can't say that guys don't pay close attention to their hair!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ 2012 Bound

Can you believe that we are about to come into the last stretch with two of my favorite holidays, Christmas and New Year's Eve - right around the corner. In essence, it's saying a proper goodbye to the very interesting year that is 2011! Although I'd love to just think about parties and the fab gifts that I have been receiving at this time of year from friends and brands, I have to say that there is still so much work to do as I prepare for Kitten Lounge's Holiday Shopping Lounge which takes place next Sat at Ink48 as well as the launch of our second holiday gift guide for this year, Type L (Last Minute Guide)! Both of these are huge for the the Kitten Lounge brand for the end of the year.

Next year brings a number of amazing projects from the launch of my clothing line under my own label, an amazing collab with a jewelry brand that I talk about a lot on Kitten Lounge as well as my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 being available in select Bloomingdales as well as on HSN which I will be back on in March with! Of course I will also roll out a Fall 12 line with them as well which is taking the brand to an entirely new level with an entirely new design that I am pleased about. Of course as an Accessories Expert, there are a number of fab TV ops that are coming out that I can't share but I am super excited about. Obviously, there are a number of items that will be coming to Kitten Lounge as well so it's nice to see that all the brands will have something new for the new year!

With that said, Paul and I celebrate our 1 year together this weekend as we wear a number of hats together as a couple, him being my Brand Manager, etc but we need to have a proper vacation! Yes I travel a lot to a number of locations - many of them are beyond fabulous, but they are still for work in terms of designing, working with brands, etc. I know that the first two months of the year are so out of the question as we're in planning mode with events but I am obsessed with the thought of a reasonably open March and I am now manifesting - Turks and Caicos (pictured above). After having a fab chat with the Gansevoort in Turks and Caicos, I am now on a quest to get some downtime. What's not to love about breezes, relaxation and beach time? I'm also loving that in 3 hours, not only would I arrive but the inspirations that come from being in such a space will definitely get my juices flowing and give me an excuse to create new outfits and have a fabulous series of pictures for my return! Bound for 2012.

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Stadium Chic

So when you see my boyfriend Paul when we're heading to meetings for my brands or to symposiums for his businesses, he's decked out in jeans and a number of blazers (he adores the blazer he got from Cairo) but when we're just hanging out, doing errands, or just relaxing - he loves wearing tees. Now this is something I am a huge fan of as I love relaxing in that as well! So I had to think about Stadium Chic - there is something about chunky scarves, layering and more when you go tailgating that you can bring into the everyday without looking too frat boy!

I'm obsessed with henley's and ADORE grey and when it comes to organic cotton, no one does it better then James Perse which I love wearing their tees so it's perfect on him. Layer that up with a fun graphic tee. Since he loves orange, I'm loving this SuperDry shirt which is fab. Pair it with these fun panelled jeans by Jeckerson which has a slimming fit and fab details. To keep him warm, I want him to rock an edge of hunter with this Barbour x To Ki for J Crew which has a hood and tons of pockets! This will add a nice rustic look to it and then the Johnston Murphy orange and grey scarf will be phenom and his feet always stay warm when he rocks his UGG Australia Ascot Wool shoes which are perfect for walking around the house (he adores them and we have a matching set) or for running out in our market across the street!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 Lookbook

This week has been a busy week and we're already at the midway point! But we kicked it off this weekend by shooting my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 lookbook which was a lot of fun as we had access to a penthouse suite at Kimpton's Hotel at Ink 48 which is a phenomenal way to see the city with all of its varied energies! In addition, I was so happy to rock Virgins, Saints and Angels, Ainsley, Sean John and a special tribute to Paul's grandfather who was a lead electrician on the Intrepid! You'll also read about my inspirations and more which is always nice to know the reasoning behind each creation!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Leather Duo

Last night, Paul and I wandered the Village after a round table and made our way to a super yummie Thai restaurant! I love the fall when the weather is just beginning to turn and you get giddy wearing a number of outerwear options and layers. In honor of this, I created a fun his and her leather/shearling spread! I'm OBSESSED over his style which rocks YSL's coat which is in a fab charcoal color which always looks phenomenal. Paired with the perfect distressed jeans by D&G and fun shoes, he's ready to be out and about looking amazing! Cap it off with a fab pair of fingerless gloves by UGG and a super cute beanie cap to wrap up the rest of the look. A quick pop into Forever 21 can provide a number of colors that are perfect to finish the look.

When she steps out, Karl Donoghue's jacket takes the aviator look to another level by combining this fab sleek look and popping shearling in to complete the look. Rock these with UGG's newest foray into fab footwear with this mix of menswear. Keep it simple with Paige Premium Denim pants. She can complete her look by pairing it with Simonetta Ravizza's marble fur hat which looks so cute and is warm and this fab crossbody bag by Woolrich.

Fashionable Fridays: NYFW SS12 ~ Falguni and Shane Peacock

Paul and I closed tonight at Falguni and Shane Peacock. I have to say that I was not familiar with this line but I'm definitely happy that I attended the show! In addition, I love that I was sitting right across from Joan Rivers and loved watching the show while seeing her reaction (it was like a mini Fashion Police live without hearing the commentary but loved the face reactions)! As always, you can enjoy the final walk as this show had a lot of vibrant colors, see through patches within various garments but more importantly - accessories that I definitely would love to incorporate within my baubles and bits chest! More importantly, one of the models had a ring that literally wrapped around her finger in a caged effect - I'm so on the hunt to get this piece!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Fitness 360

There are many words/phrases this summer that have been my mantra and I have to say that as I get closer to NYFW as crazy of a time as it is, there is also a lot of reflection there too! Paul always reminds me about what is in my 360 which means that there are a lot of things that we participate in but not all of it is what makes us who we are and what we want to be. When we're looking at our long and term short goals, it's easy to get stuck into the minutia and miss out on what's important. The same can be said for fitness. Over the past month, I've been toning up (which is always good as my goal was not to lose weight per se), making healthier food choices (thanks to the amazing deliveries via Fresh Diet) and also looking at what it all means. I am a person that runs at 500% and even on a bad day, it's abotu 300%. My end result goals are always the same but the things that I must do in the middle have been altered. With many of the placements, opportunities etc that have come my way it makes me re-evaluate things and also see myself in relation to them with fresh eyes.

The same, I think can be said in terms of fitness. I don't believe in obsessing (although I do obsess on accessories) but I feel that we also have to see ourselves as we are which means setting realistic goals in our fitness and when we make positive changes to see ourselves in that new light. With Fashion Week madness and pre-holiday madness upon us, I hear people mention their achievements but not really embrace it - thus the hard work seems a bit lackluster. Today's post is about being healthy mind, body and soul and being able to enjoy your accomplishments in all that you do. Being on HSN this past week for yet another series of visits, I felt in the zone, happy with accomplishments that I had made going into this visit, knowing of others that would be released this week and I loved how I looked. That is the true measure of success - where you feel you sit in the midst of the positive goodies!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Rocks My Look

It's not a shock that men and women can rock one another's look and it's not always about androgyny. Menswear is popular in women's looks and there are a number of items in women's that can be worn by a man. My boyfriend loves rocking my beauty product - shower gels, facial scrubs and more and yet he's still as manly as you can imagine. Today I have the left side of the spread focused on a men's basic look in outerwear, women is on the right and in the middle goodies to share! I love the his and her look and with the rain that we received yesterday, I got to think about rocking trench's by Burberry and fab shoes by Cole Haan. I could so see Paul and I walking in Soho between my brand meetings wearing this classic look with well worn fab shoes that have a brownish/grey look to it. Of course, the cutest thing ever is that we can share the accessories! Paul loves carrying my totes when they're too heavy and this Fendi one can go either way and is super luxe. I love my scarves and am never without one as the weather gets closer to the fall. Love Quotes is phenom and when we're done sharing a cigar and a bevvie, I can wrap him up in it to take a pic! I do love his and her looks!

Mingling Mondays ~ Santorini Style

Yesterday I closed out July heading to the Javits Center to check out a number of apparel, intimate and accessories brands at a massively large series of shows. I was inspired, excited and pooped! Now that we are in August, there are a number of things that go on this month that are in an effort to have a truly successful NY Fashion Week experience for Team Kitten Lounge! But in addition, with my upcoming collab launches, fab media push and events - things are just a bit more amped up then usual. The next few weeks is a serious push that I am super excited about and it's also the hottest part of the summer here in NYC! I'm already thinking of post Fashion Week which always involves phenomenal massages to end out 9 hard core days but I am also making sure that by the time I have come down from the fashion and last trade shows of Sept that Paul and I can say that we are hopping on a flight to Santorini!

I have never been but the images alone have given me such peace that I do believe that this season it must be a reality. Although I travel to a number of locations some of them being super exotic, it's not a vacation and if I revealed the last time I went on one, it would be too shameful to even admit! As always, it's all about the outfits, I definitely would want to rock an amazing bikini (love Matthew Williamson) that's super simple and can be paired with a kaftan. With these accessories from Noir, Alexis Bittar and Virgins, Saints and Angels I would definitely be in my element! Everyone needs bling even when it's time to relax. Of course, a simple pair of sandals from Christian Dior is a must! Only a few more weeks and then I'll be in holiday mode!>/p>

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Long Weekends

Summer is all about easy peasy and it's also all about being able to hop around whether it's in the city or outside of it! Paul and I have a wedding we're attending in NJ in a few weeks and it forces us to actually spend time away from our millions of projects and to experience something new! I love this look as it is such a fab look for my boyfriend! My boyfriend loves rocking his shorts and tees. Today, I took a classic Rugby shirt in navy and paired it with one of my fave pop colors that you have heard my talk about on my last two visits on HSN - yellow! Why not revamp and put a twist on the classic J Crew chino by adding this soft yellow which is the new neutral for women AND men! Cap off this look with classic nautical shoes from Polo Ralph Lauren as it's perfect for whatever it is that he's up to! Finally, anytime you travel, you have to have a fab tote and as nautical prep as everything is, John Varvatos rocks it out but stays within the trend that's being promoted!

Trendy Thursdays: Spring Break 2011: His Style ~ Hamps Bound

I may be heading to DR next week but it's for work I swear! I'll be designing my Spring 12 collection for Sebago! But don't think that I'm not thinking of the first vacation that Paul and I will be taking some point soon I hope! Yes we headed out to Austin as our first travel experience as well as to Philly - but once again work! So with that said I'm thinking of warm locales or his beauty bounty when it comes to taking a long weekend in the Hamptons! With that said, he loves beauty as much as I do and so why not have him decked out in some beauty product that would be perfect for him! Now I know that he's all about smelling phenom and I love Ginseng so Molton Brown is the perfect way to spice up some good things! Of course, a clean shaven man is such an important thing so using Schick Hydro is a great way to keep that close shave and combining it with a fab Aloe Vera Shaving Cream tube is perfect!

Everything can be tossed in this fab Vivienne Westwood man tote and of course he can lug a number of things around. Trendy Thursdays ~ Kimmie & HSN

As I mentioned before, the past few days have been insane! I launched my Kimmie Smith x Sebago collaboration at the Capsule show which will launch later this fall. Then I flew out to HSN where I did 3 segments on air for the Sebago brand! We sold out of styles, I rocked it out with 3 amazing hosts and I wore some phenomenal brands. Since I am flying back today, I will not go into all the looks I wore today as I'm in the after glow of an amazing experience but tomorrow, you will see posts and clips of footage!

There were so many people involved that made this possible from the Sebago team, my publicist (Dorian of Big Apple Style Marketing) and boyfriend (Paul of Social TV) who kept the virtual viewings going and the brands that I wore - Ann Taylor, LOFT, Chelsea Taylor, Eva Varro, Janine Weil Showroom and everyone who called in, emailed, texted, tweeted, FB'd, GChatted and more! It's a huge thank you! We have future airings coming up in May and October and I will let you know! Above is a screenshot from the 3pm hour with Bobbi Jo Carter my final host of a long but exciting day!

Snazzy Sundays: Dinner at Morton's Steakhouse

I love restaurant reviews and although they are typically on Mondays, they are officially moving to Sundays! On Sundays you'll be able to find home decor, travel and food/wine posts here as it helps you plan were you'd like to go during the week! Earlier this week we headed over to Morton's Steakhouse at 551 5th Ave. The video above is the amazing Prime Ocean Platter for 2 which has lobster, large shrimp, oysters, King Crab, etc. The platter was overflowing with fish and it was more than enough for us! But backing up, Morton's Steakhouse is something that I'm very familiar with. Growing up in Indiana, I used to go to Chicago and would eat there on my visits. It reminds me of the classic steakhouses that I grew up with in the midwest while having an upscale setting to enjoy your dinner. This location, which is on 45th street between 5th and 6th ave was quite large. There was an upstairs dining area, the bar which was very roomy, the main dining area and they also had 3 private rooms. The lighting was soft and this location had a great mix of those that were heading to the theater at 8, holding a business dinner and even tourists. Immediately, we felt that this was a cozy environment.

The first thing that you notice throughout the entire meal is that although you have a designated server, you are supported by the entire staff that's there. If someone who wasn't your main server took an order or gave you something that you asked for, the next person wouldn't ask if you received something. In addition, with a full staff on the floor, you never felt that you were being watched to the point of being uncomfortable. I think that's an important balance to strike and they did that perfectly.

I rarely drink red wine unless I'm eating steak which I normally don't; however, this is what Morton's is known for so as we sipped our wine we looked at various options. I loved that when the bread came to the table, we asked if they could cut it and without a pause not only did they do so (away from the table) but our server said that people many times liked to do it themselves but it wasn't a problem - perfect. When they go through the menu, which you have a few minutes to look at, they bring a cart to show you your options. They actually have all the cuts of steak and go through each one, you see the lobster option (yes this lobster was alive sitting on the plate - I felt slightly bad for it as it came out each time they went through the menu but I have to say that it was huge!), they show the ingredients that go into their signature salad - The Morton and they run through specials as well as desserts. Certain desserts were made to order (which we both had a signature) so those would have to be placed with the rest of your order.

As I mentioned, we started with the Prime Ocean Platter. Since it was so large, there was no way that I was going to have a salad. I really loved one of the sauces which was a mix of mayonnaise and mustard, it went really well with the King Crab legs which were huge. I had the Filet Mignon double cut butterflied and it was cooked at medium well, I really enjoyed this as it had great flavor and I didn't even need the sauce that came with it. I would suggest the Cajun Ribeye as I almost picked this once since it is marinated in cajun spices. They can put the spices on anything but it wouldn't be in the meat as it is with this particular cut. Paul had the New York Strip Steak and he seemed very happy about it. Each side is ordered a la carte and I already kenw that we were going to have the Creamed Spinach as that is my favorite veggie to order at dinner and we also had the Hashbrown Potatoe. This side dish comes in a pan and is a huge plate of hashbrowns. It was the perfect compliment to this meal. We had to save room for dessert as I ordered Morton's Legendary Hot Lava Cake - it was amazing! I love the raspberries on top and enjoyed my vanilla icecream. Paul had the Chocolate Souffle which also comes with cream - amazing! We also enjoyed after dinner drinks, I had Bailey's Caramel which went well with my dessert and Paul had cognac which he later put into his coffee!

The meal couldn't have been better, it was relaxed, everyone was attentive and yet not to the point where you felt like you were under a microscope. It seemed that having a 6pm reservation is a great time as they got busier through the night. This is a great place to come to for a business meal, grabbing a drink after work with co-workers or to impress friends and family out of town!

Mingling Mondays: Paulie Tackles - Fish Soup

It was an overcast Saturday and Paul, our resident Food Editor, decided that it was the perfect day to head to our local fish market, Two Cousins Fish Market in Freeport, LI and make one of his favorite meals - Fish Soup! Now there was a lot of footage that was taken of this video so over the next few weeks you will see the Q&A that I did with him from finding out about his upcoming trip back home to the Ukraine, his fave meals, his thoughts on organic and slow foods and more. But for now, enjoy finding out about this simple dish and why it's such a good choice on a spring day!

Mingling Mondays ~ Paulie Tackles - Chili

Paul is the Food Editor here on Kitten Lounge. We've all enjoyed his Avocado Squash recipes or even his reviews of one of our favorite places to eat sushi in NY at Nagahama! We always joke that Paul should get on the camera as he is quite chatty and funny when he cooks. Today, we begin a new series that will show Paul in action doing one of the things that he loves most, cooking! This segment of videos is Paulie Tackles! Today you'll hear me in the background as we watch Paul make vegetarian chili with some special spices. Recently, I introduced Paul to Morning Star Farms which is a faux meat company that we have quite a bit of their products! Although we're not vegetarian, we do enjoy having this healthy alternative when we feel the need to have red meat. In addition, you'll learn about his cooking style. Let us know your thoughts and I'd definitely love to see Paul and Emily cook together! That would definitely be fun to have on camera - Mouth of the Border meets Paulie Russia!

Snazzy Sundays ~ We Got a Tree!

Yesterday we got a tree! Now last year was my first year in getting a real tree as we never had one when I was growing up (although I loved our faux tree)! This year, I actually went out with Paul to get the tree and the above video is a segment of our day in finding the tree and learning about key points that you need to look for an do in order to find your perfect tree!

Snazzy Sundays ~ The Deck

The deck is that much closer to being done! So earlier this winter, we realized we had a leak and the source was from our second balcony upstairs. We had to pull up the Italian tile and it has been difficult to enjoy being on the deck. Since the summer is almost done, I definitely wanted the deck to be completed and as you saw last week, we headed to Home Depot to get our materials. We're almost done although we realized we had a little space left. Should we lay the last board down or should we get a planter of some sort to put down? Enjoy the footage and let me know - we'll keep you updated on what we ended up doing!

Wearable Wednesday: Great Minds Get Great Finds

So I am heading to the Dominican for vacation with Food Editor and boyfriend, Paul. I am super excited and the 5 weeks I have to wait, can't come soon enough. With that said, I want an entirely new wardrobe and of course, I still want to buy things throughout the rest of the season. Although the economy isn't that great, I love that you can get great deals. But a deal is truly best when it lasts!

When I first came to New York 6 years ago, I happened to be shopping with my mom for a trip I was taking to Florida. I needed a Little Black Dress as I was going to a wedding. I found the perfect LBD that was classy and yet, had little cut outs in the back. You can see this dress on the right side toolbar within my group of Flickr pictures. I wore this recently at a New Years event at the Rainbow Room. That was the best $39 dollars spent and it is my go to dress and travels well too!

So that brings us to the present! This dress was purchased at Mandee and if you don't have one in your hometown, you can get it online. Currently they are doing a 20% off promotion online if you use the word BAILOUT. I think this is a great way to add a lot of items into your wardrobe and you too may have a story about how something priced so cheaply ended up being a mainstay within your wardrobe!

Trendy Thursdays: Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Today I'm at my sister's for a day of eating and kicking it off with the Macy's parade! So we don't have any huge beauty news today although you can begin some shopping and checking out amazing people at Kitten Lounge's Holiday Gift Guide sponsored by Dashing Diva! I am so thankful for all the people that are involved in making this blog and other projects related to this a success. Although everyone's names can't fit, obviously I'm proud of my boyfriend and Food Editor, Paul who brings food love here! I also love all the AMAZING PR firms, designers, boutiques and tipsters that bring information my way and to your screens. Without them, it would be very difficult to provide the quality of material that you guys deserve. Although we are almost closing the books for this year, I love that this season has more events and parties and I am pleased to be one of the founders along with Emily, Melissa and Jennifer for Girl Geek Dinners NYC which makes it debut next week with our first event! I am also excited to unveil the 25 Days of Holiday Glam soon and many more things that we can enjoy now so that you can be amazed by what next year will bring. For now, you will see me on and off Twitter and feel free to @Cocoabebe me as well! Have an amazing Thanksgiving with you and yours!

Paul's Honest Meal: Nap Time

Personally, I love nap time. Is there anything better than an afternoon nap on a chilly Saturday afternoon with a heavy blanket, a lightly cracked window and the warmth of Kitten Lounge’s Editor-in-Chief? The answer is no. The problem is that most of our weekend naps usually follow a heavy meal full of the deadliest combination of carbs and protein; in other words, meat and potatoes. The problem is that our bodies have an extremely difficult time digesting such combinations. But, don’t worry help is on the way. Instead of pasta, rice or potatoes a textbook side dish to any protein is taboule (pronounced: tuh-boo-lee).

Taboule is a traditional Middle Eastern wheat salad and is prepared best with The Roots blasting in the background, accompanying the company of the delicious and the healthy. The brain, the source, the transistor radio transmitting the message from the messenger – healthy body equals healthy mind.

So, here is the recipe:

2 cups 100% Whole grain quick cooking Bulgur Wheat

1 ¾ Cups of Boiling Water

3 Cucumbers

3 Black Tomatoes

1 Medium Onion

Dill, Cilantro and Parsley

1 Small head of Garlic

2 Cups of Raisins

Freshly squeezed juice from one Lemon

1 Jalapeno Pepper

Olive Oil

Salt & Pepper

The preparation is simple. Combine 2 cups of bulgur wheat with 1 ¾ cups of boiling water and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Chop the rest of the ingredients, combine with the wheat and season with olive oil, salt and pepper to your taste.

The beauty of taboule is that you can add pretty much any ingredients; from kiwis to mangos. If you are new to cooking, one important note is to make sure to purge the herbs in cold water to get rid of all the sand before chopping. And if your delicious taboule is being accompanied with a piece of delectable fish, I would suggest pairing your dinner with a bottle of La Playa’s Sauvignon Blanc.

Paul's Honest Meal: Brook - My Secret Lover

So, it’s Saturday morning, you wake up in your moderately priced Brooklyn Heights apartment, your dog is pacing next to your bed, your girlfriend is at the breakfast bar working on her obnoxiously thin laptop and the only thing on your mind is Brook – your secret lover. You welcome the sunshine, as you slowly pull the blankets away from your face and a breath of crisp fresh air brings in a brand new day and a brand new hunger. You throw on your jeans, you grab your flip flops and you are off to walking your dog along the promenade. As the other pet enthusiasts are captivated with their canine friends, you begin to formulate a plan; a plan to catch a glimpse of your secret lover.

Your unsuspecting girlfriend is excited to spend this perfect day with a blanket, a cooler and a couple of ipods at what appears to be the perfect destination – Long  Beach, NY. You pack your things, you grab a couple of chai tea lattés and you are ecstatic to get a seat on the LIRR along with fellow pale urbanite staycationers. Your girlfriend thinks that it might be the caffeine that’s keeping you awake, but little does she know that it’s the memory of Brook that has your mind in overdrive unwilling to relinquish its hold until the very moment you get that final glimpse. As you are welcomed to the beach with the conductor’s friendly reminder that you have reached the final stop, you suggest a slightly different route to the beach with the promise of an earlier arrival. And there it is your lover’s secret lair – the Nagahama.

Long story short, do your self a favor and forget about every sushi place that you have been to anywhere within the five boroughs, buy a LIRR ticket, spend a day at the beach and finish it off with a delicious meal at the Nagahama sushi restaurant on 169 Park Avenue in Long Beach, NY. The fish is always extremely fresh (which I feel should be the number one criteria of any great sushi restaurant), the rolls are generous and the menu boasts enough variety to satisfy the most discerning of pallets. This is not the place for suits or khaki pants, but it is your final destination for mouth-watering sushi. And as for Brook, don’t forget about my girl, you can always find her along with other delectable house specialty rolls waiting for your arrival and ready to service your pallet with the most complete array of flavors.

On a side note, let go of your inhibitions and try the unfiltered sake. You will be thankful for the milky unassuming beverage and indulged with the finishing touch of a thinly sliced cucumber in your glass.

Mingling Mondays ~ Order Like a Genie

Seamlesslogo I am a Seamless Web girl! I love the fact that I can open up the page and get a variety of restaurants that are available in real time to me. Generally, I tag some of my favorite orders such as my Calamari Roll, Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll and Veggie Gyoza (Go Sushi) or my salad with everything but the kitchen sink (Food Exchange). Simply enter in your address and you'll find all restaurants that deliver to your area and only those that are open will be displayed while the other ones that are in the area but are not open will show that they are closed. I love it as you can store multiple addresses (I use mine when I am working more then when I am at home), you can store your favorite places you order from in addition to those items that you love the most so that you can order them again without wasting time. If you wish to order something hours from now for a conference you will have with others, you can let them know the time you're interested in having them come. This is the best thing ever and I have noticed that more and more restaurants are signin up so it's definitely catching on! If you have never ordered, the fab people at Seamless Web will give you 20% off your first order with the special code KITTEN. This is good for first time orders only and this code will be available from now until 12.31.08. Take some time to check it out and see how great it will be to order in a snap!

Bbq_3 As you know, Mingling Mondays is about going out to places to eat that you can share for your next office function, friends or significant other. Well Mingling Mondays will now introduce you to not only the most amazing guy ever (my boyfriend) but a foodie who will post on here two Mondays a month! I want to introduce you to Paul and of course you will love him as much as I do. Enjoy learing about some of the favorite places that we have eaten at and his honest opinion of many of the meals. I think that this will be a great addition to the segment and seeing that he is teaching me a thing or two about cooking (he is a great cook) and I think a natural to host his own show one day, he is a great guy to join the Kitten Lounge family starting in August!
