As you know, the past few weeks I have incorporated Nichole Huntsman's Revolt Now Fitness into my workout routine as I can do it whenever and wherever I want to! I love that it's only 20 minutes or so and is great alone or added to whatever I think I should be targeting. I was asked the other day if I do anything else. I do yoga, pilates, a number of sessions at Exhale in Central Park South as well as a routine I have put together that I know works for me. I think it's important to always change things up so that your body can experience a number of workouts without getting tired of their repetitive nature.
With the weather warming up, I do love jogging as I live under 2 mins from the park as I am on the southern border of Central Park. Their famous Reservoir is a nice place to run as well as a nice scenery to take in. To keep my running focused, it's all about the playlist and what I use to hear my music on. Before I would use Spotify on my phone and have a special arm band - but sometimes I found it to be a bit cumbersome. Just the other day, (thanks to Klout, they just sent me a Sony 2GB W Series Walkman Meb Keflezighi headset which sits easily on my ears and wraps around my neck. In addition, I can add my music to this MP3 player so that I can keep a high intensive workout without any lulls!
Now that Fashion Week is over, it's awesome that my life is getting back to normal and one of those things is getting back to the gym. One of the things that I love about David Barton Gym is that it's not the typical gym. I'm a machine girl (unless you catch me at pilates or yoga) and I love that this room is so dim and lets you kind of be in your own world as you work out. Having warm hues in the room just sets a great mood and encourages you to keep pushing through the wall. Once you leave this room (although I love being here for 45 mins or so) then I love stopping by the disco ball to work (or try to) with the weights. You can't pass up a chance to see the city below as you rock out to whatever is being spun! Next stop - I have to check out a yoga class as I love having so many candles that they have an entire wall in the room flickering away!
As of two weekends ago, I pretty much work out in Aerie (this is a great brand from the brainchild of American Eagle) only! I love that it's fashionable and if you live in Long Island and are near Roosevelt Field Mall, you should pop in as there is an entire store that just has Aerie in it (can I say I love the swimwear and coverups too)! I got hooked when I was with a friend in Chicago and saw that they had great discounts and the pieces were super comfortable! From then on, I have been going into the store buying more pieces that are perfect for yoga, pilates or just hitting the machines. Take a look at what they have to offer and see what you'll find yourself in. If you need a quick bathing suit, think about them as well! As always, the links above in the spread are clickable!
On average, I hit the gym 3 – 4 days a week at about an hour and a half to two hours! It’s generally later in the evening so I can watch my guilty pleasures (reality tv) while letting off some steam at whatever NYSC that I happen to be close to at the moment. Just like I pick what I wear when I’m out and about, I’m all about comfort and style for the gym as well. I have quite a few outfits and interestingly enough, I tend to dress in yoga style whether I’m doing pilates or are on machines! Today is a great assortment of items that are perfect for the gym. My favorite piece, Spibelt’s Spiband which allows me to hold my iPod and my keys within the little case (I can even get my lipgloss in here) and it fits on my arm. They also have one for the waist as well so click on the link above to find out more!
I also believe in a good bag and this one, by Athleta, is perfect for me to bring all my necessities while having a separate place for my mat. A water bottle is a must and as much as possible, I believe that having something that you can use again is better than a disposable one – so check out Smallflower as they have quite an extensive collection. When it comes to shoes there are so many options but I love that these sneakers pick up the flair of the overall outfit that is available at Victoria’s Secret (one of my favorite places as well). Whatever you do keep it functional, comfortable and add your own personal style!
Exercise isn't just great because it keeps you fit, it also allows you to destress and find the best series of activities that will give you something to look forward to. For me, I feel better when I'm dressed well and exercising and am so glad that I came across Doce Vida Fitness. I feel that they have great gear that is for the fashion conscious while not taking away from the comfort that's needed whether you're doing dance, kick boxing, yoga, step etc! These pieces are lively and I love the cuts of the various tops; however, I am very excited about the Paraty Pant which has a boot cut and sits low on the hips! This is a must and I believe that I will snag a pair so that I have something comfy for pilates! Take some time to check out more items and build your workout wardrobe as exercising is not just a resolution but a daily lifestyle! To get into the swing of things, you can shop on Doce Vida Fitness and use the code TWITTER to get 20% off on your purchase! (If you don't know about Twitter visit me and find out what it's about)
