Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Never Travel Without

When it comes to traveling at a moments notice, I have become the queen! I love that in my lingerie bags I travel with necessities as when I land, I hit the ground running between segments, swinging my brands and styling a client all while having my must haves tucked in my carry on! I am a believe that when packing, you need to know that you have some basics. The other evening, I went to Pamela Pekerman's Accessorize for Wellness which showed all the musts haves that we need to be fit and look great whether we're at the gym or simply running around with friends! She shared Yummie Tummie with us! As you know Yummie Tummie was founded by Heather Thompson who is currently on Bravo's Real Housewives of NY! She has such a cute personality and interestingly enough, when I was on HSN back in March I had a quick second to chat with her as Robert Verdi was on with his sunglass line, I went on next as the spokesperson for Sebago and then Heather was on chatting up Yummie Tummie. I always love seeing Robert outside of Fashion Week madness and Heather is every bit as gorge as you would suspect). I can say that I have been a fan of her shapewear for years and love the tank and pantie that was gifted! When I do segments, it's nice to know that you're always looking amazing and that whatever you've nibbled is not peaking out on camera!

When I'm not on camera or fitting into a very slim dress, I also love having my Commando underwear. These ensure that you don't have lines which is always pesky and not cute by any means! I'm also obsessed with the depth of Hollywood Fashion Secrets which has a huge line from tape to keep yourself in place, silicone cover ups and more - there are no excuses for a wardrobe malfunction! Finally, Cynthia Rowley is back again with her fabulous collaboration with Band-Aid available at Birchbox! Just in time for summer, we all find that we may have had a little too much summer fun and at least this lets us heal quick with fun colors!

Together, all of this fits in my lingerie bags which ensures that I never forget them! Lola Haze is known for their lingerie line; however, I never travel without my bag as I like to place my lingerie as well as must haves in my luggage!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Sister Closet

Growing up, my sister's closet was always a gem to run through. My style was preppy and conservative while hers was a lot more fun. I wanted to merge my style (great investment pieces that are core to the closet) with hers (surprise pop elements) that would make my look one that was super comfortable and chic. Borrowing items continued until I started to build my new wardrobe which became the beginnings of my dream wardrobe once I arrived to NYC! I always think about my Sister Closet and the importance of remembering to balance the aesthetic. I would define my look with great classics, boho chic style and more. My sister and I don't borrow from our closets as I have amazing showrooms that have opened up my world! My sister and I now share business ventures with one another and I love when she shows up to my events (upper left hand corner I hosted a phenomenal diamond event, lower left hand corner my sister came by with the launch of my collab shoe line at Robert Verdi's and lower right she was there for the 4th birthday of Kitten Lounge) or will work with me on photoshoots.

As different as we are in terms of some elements of our styles, we love the idea of having core basics! Navy is always super chic and we love the blazer which can go from preppy to sexy chic depending on how it's worn! I love this J Crew blazer. A few times when I have been on HSN for my segments, Molly Sims has been rocking it out with her line right before mine or after - loving this lariat style pearl necklace which blends prep with a sexy edge. A fun statement ring is an essential in my wardrobe and I love that my sister also expresses her style in this way as we are both focused on accessories - this ring by Mark Davis Bea is perfect in blending of materials and really making the cocktail structure of this piece as an added bonus to any look that you're looking to complete. Finally, those who follow my social networks saw me tweet out about these YSL Riviera Suede T Strap Wedges that I saw in the windows of Bergdorfs! These shoes are drool worthy and are cute additions to any look that you're rocking - they're sassy, preppy and in a sense it's like taking the French Riviera with you wherever your heels go! My Sister Closet sense still drives many components of my look but now she knows her actual closets are completely safe from me!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Sake in Style

Today is National Sake Day which kicks off the sake season (and the 1st day of October can you believe next month is Thanksgiving!?!)! My Glammie Kittens know that I love sake and enjoy drinking it with a number of dishes but on this day, it's all about having it with Sushi. Of course you could go out and enjoy an amazing spread but sushi is so amazing when it's made at home and you can invite people over. So how does one create a snazzy sushi spread? First of all you have to have great beverages I'm a huge fan of Gekkeikan which is one of the leading brands with a number of sakes and plum wines within their company! Below, I have a fab recipe that you can make. For those who love sake, they can have it alone or make a nice martini. Plum wine is always a nice sweet beverage to have as well to shake it up a bit! Above is an image of the rice patties where they harvest the crop in order to make the decadent sake that will be enjoyed throughout the year! I'm loving the Sake cups and pitchers that are great way to jazz up your affair available at Sur La Table.

As many of you know, one of my dear friends works with Uoriki Fresh which comes from the Tsukiji Markets in Japan. They're known for a style of frozen fish that allows it to arrive here in the US fresh after you thaw it out by simply leaving it on your counter before you begin using it. With this fish, you can make a number of rolls which is fun to do whether you do it in advance or have guests come to make their own! Definitely make it easier on yourself by having a rice cooker which ensures perfection each time and is available at Williams Sonoma. In terms of presentation it's all about having phenom chopsticks (loving the stainless steel) which you can get from Cooking.com and these GORG Agate plates and coasters which add a nice natural flair thanks to Viva Terra. Finally, the guest needs to match the sentiment of the event. During NYFW, I rocked this Nanami dress during my Meet and Greets at Robert Verdi for the launch of my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 line. This dress by Josie Natori can be worn alone or over leggings if you choose. I love that although it's not quite a kimono, it's done in the style and essence of one and has gorgeous colors and tones to it! Make your night or brunch fabulous today and below is one of my fave drinks known as the Gekkeikan Apple Blossom by Todd Richman.

Gekkeikan Apple Blossom by Todd Richman

4 parts Gekkeikan Sake

1 part Kobai Plum Wine

1 part Cranberry Juice

1 part Apple Juice

Top with Ginger Ale

Combine ingredients (except the ginger ale) in a mixing glass, add ice and shake well. Pour into a tall glass and top with ginger ale. Garnish with a green apple slice.

Fashionable Fridays: NYFW SS12 ~ Fashion On the Go

Just when I thought that all of NYFW Spring 12 coverage had been wrapped and bundled up, there are still some items that keep coming to my attention. During NYFW, I was apart of Fashion Comes First's program hosted by Robert Verdi for his Fashion on the Go Series. It was so much fun for us to chat about Spring 12 Trends and Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order: SVU popped in to chat for a second. I also loved hearing trends from fellow friends - Nichelle Pace (Style Mom) and Nichelle Gainer (Vintage Black Glamour) as well. Catch the recap on Fashion Week by looking at NYFW 360 or the Spotlight on NY Fashion Week.

Wearable Wednesdays: NYFW SS12 ~ Kitten Lounge NYFW 4th Anniversary Party

The picture above is courtesy of Diva Gals Daily - loved being able to chit chat with them more as I have seen them throughout this season's NYFW!

Today was the day that we celebrated the 4th Anniversary of Kitten Lounge! I can't believe that that many years have gone by! When I think about why I started, how I did it etc and what it has evolved to (being the face of a number of brands, collab designs with phenomenal lines and so much more - I get goose bumps just thinking about it) - I knew we had to have a time to commemorate it even when it's in the midst of NYFW! But there was no question that it would be perfect at Shobha which not only provided complimentary threading, fab additions to the goodie bags and a great music selection - but they also had their famous Shobharitas which we all enjoyed!

I loved being able to mingle with everyone from stylists, bloggers, magazines and one of my favorite stores! Some of us caught up from the last show, presentation, or seeing me at the Robert Verdi suite etc. Thanks to Pop Chips and Vita Coco for supplying goodies and everyone left spreading Shobha love with Crest 3D White, Covergirl, Cosmo Mag (since I am in the Oct issue), Elizabeth Grant, Birchbox and Havaianas!

Wearable Wednesdays: NYFW SS12 ~ Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12

In the midst of the madness of just having to focus on all that goes along with NYFW, I have been doing Meet and Greets at the Robert Verdi Luxe Lab for the launch of my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12! It's been rocking there as we have had Nigel Barker, Tinsley Mortimer, Bobbie Thomas, US Weekly, Essence Magazine, AP, Fashion team of Lord & Taylor, various mag publications and more coming through! It's been so much fun to introduce people to a significant project that I have been working on with this collection as well as to see the reaction of people who have fallen in love with the shoes. When you think about designing something months in advance and being able to collaborate with an existing brand, bringing in your own as well as to forecast the trend - it's nice to know that I got it right!

With buys already secured from Bloomingdales as well as HSN - it's super exciting to see where it will be available next Spring. I'll also keep you looped into our amazing photoshoot that's in the works!

Treasure Tuesdays: NYFW SS12 ~ Cupcake Vineyards Dinner

With the day kicking off with heading to Victoria's Secret Rooftop Lounge, ARTISTRY/AMWAY Lounge, Allure Lounge and then The Daily Lounge - I had already put in a full day! Then I was off to the second day of my Meet and Greets at Robert Verdi for my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 preview! So by the time that was completed, I was ready to eat! Thankfully, I was invited to the Cupcake Vineyards dinner at The Red Cat where we learned from wine maker, Adam Richardson about the new wines that are coming to the market. As I enjoyed my Watermelon Salad, Skate and then a yummy Marble Cheesecake, we started out with Prosecco, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and continued on to Malbec, Shiraz and the new one - Red Velvet (there will also be a white version of this). Being a fan of the brand for almost a year, it was nice to ask my burning questions like the choice in name (they just loved the idea of having a certain emotion that you felt upon hearing it and ensured that upon consuming, it kept the feeling going). It was nice to eat among foodies, wine tastemakers and more. Over the next few weeks, we'll definitely introduce our faves to you!

Trendy Thursdays ~ My Beauty Musts

I'm heading home to NYC after being in Tampa/St Petersburg/Clearwater for my appearances earlier this week on HSN! With Labor Day weekend coming up, the summer went by way too fast! With that said, there was a lot of travel, meetings, events and so much more. It meant that although I always look my best, I had to take it to another level Enjoy the clip of one of my segments that I did talking about Sebago's Fall line on HSN! I'm rocking SBS (Smart by Style) which I became the face of and which you will see for Spring 12. But equally important is my love for fab brows (thank you Shobha), having a dazzling white smile courtesy of Crest 3D White - as well as rocking nails courtesy of Polished Beauty Bar. In addition there are a number of lotions, scrubs and more that I use! Next week is New York Fashion Week which means tons of shows, participating in Fashion Night Out with Ted Rossi meet and greets at Robert Verdi's for my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12, my 4th anniversary party for Kitten Lounge, it's my birthday and so much more. All of this will take place within a nine day period but at least my skin will look phenom! Of course, accessory wise you''ll see me rocking Virgins, Saints and Angels and Ted Rossi.

Snazzy Sundays ~ St Patty's is For You & Pup

We definitely want to show some love and support to this fun way to spend St Patrick's Day with St Pawtrick's at the Muse Hotel. What a great way to support other puppies with your $50 donation as well as to bring your fur baby OR to get one of your own since The Humane Society of New York will bring in local pups for adoption. We love their events and you'll be in good company with Tinsley Mortimer, Wendy Diamond and our friend, Robert Verdi just to name a few who will support and attend this cause. The event is one that will definitely be a lot of fun! Find out more on Animal Fair Magazine as well as Dear Lucky.

NY Fashion Week F/W 2011: Wearable Wednesdays ~ Day 7 Schedule

We're at day 7! This time last week I was thinking of all the items that had yet to be done to prepare for this series of fashionable days. Now I'm already in overdrive thinking about what will take place for next Fashion Week in Sept as Kitten Lounge will be stepping it up. Today, we're focusing on presentations and taking some me time as there are suites that are set up throughout the city that help tired editors connect with products and to gift themselves as well. We'll also pop into a few presentations. If you noticed, we have been attending a number of parties which will be covered in our post wrap up so don't think that we missed them. In addition, there may be some presentations that were not covered on the next day but they will also be included. Our Fashion Week coverage will conclude by this weekend, we'll keep you up to date on my shoe presentation at Capsule this weekend and we will have a HSN series of posts for next week. That being said, we will return to not only our regularly scheduled programming but one that is enhanced with new features kicking off on March 1st!

Today Kitten Lounge attends:

Robert Verdi Fashion Week Lounge; Robert Verdi Luxe Laboratory

Richard Harris Presentation; Richard Harris Showroom

Polished Beauty Bar Blogger Retreat; Polished Beauty Bar

George Jensen Presentation; George Jensen

NY Fasion Week F/W 2011: Trendy Thursdays ~ Day 1 Schedule

It seems like it was only the other day that I was hitting the runways, presentations, after parties and backstages of NY Fashion Week this past Sept. Although the weather is much colder then the previous, I still get the little flutters of seeing the collections, friends and so much more. Today I return to Lincoln Center to enter the chaos and to fall in love all over again. As usual the following day will always showcase the previous day's shows and events. As you read this, I'm heading into my first backstage but I can let you know what you can expect for tomorrow. If you can't wait, follow my tweets @cocoabebe as well as @KittenLounge and of course enjoy searching through a number of tweets that will use the hashtags #nyfw as well as #MediaMavens where all the personalities will be typing away and these are in real time! Each day you can see my 2 key looks and how they would be accessorized. Throughout the next 9 day of shows, you'll also see sponsored tweets as well as posts so keep an eye out for those. I'm looking forward to an amazing season which will be shared via video, posts, images and so much more!

Tonight there are two amazing ways you can be apart of the fun on the first day of Kitten Lounge's coverage on the Fall Winter 2011 NY Fashion Week season in addition to reading our tweets! If you're familiar with Robert Verdi, throughout the year he has a tweet up where bloggers come together and share with you fun products that you'll want to know more about. During Fashion Week he allows bloggers to enjoy his space to refuel as well as to learn about a number of brands.Tune in tonight at 5:30pm to see what he is talking about live via streaming video and find out how you can win what we're definitely loving right now during his Robert Verdi Fashion Week Twitter Party which will also include a number of bloggers including me! Submit your styletips to @RobertVerdi and tag them with #RVFW and you can get in on on the fun Fashion Week Giveaways! You can follow all of our tweets for this event via the hashtag #RVFW as well.

If you've always wanted to see the shows and wondered how you can get access, Richie Rich will be at the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center tonight with his runway presentation "Villionaire by Richie Rich". You can purchase tickets to this event as proceeds will go to DoSomething.org and CookiesForKidsCancer.org. He will kick off his show at 9pm with performances by Harlem James Gang (John Legend is his producer) and DJ Chachi. A number of fun surprises (as always) will be apart of this show but we can say that Johnny Weir and Tinsley Mortimer will be apart of it. It's a great way to see a show and designer that never ceases to pull out all the stops while supporting others! We'll let you know about it tomorrow but, if you're in the area, you can check it out too! Below is a Kitten Lounge recap of the highlights of our first day of events.

Today Kitten Lounge Attends:

Backstage Vena Cava with Celebrity Hair Stylist Ted Gibson; Milk Studios

Christopher Raeburn for Victoronix: Eyebeam Studios

Snazzy Sundays ~ Falling Fur Fall

I have to say that I am obsessed over this look without question. My obsessions begins with the fact that I am in a huge Jean transition. For the past 2 years, I have drooled over and rocked Hudson Jeans exclusively and then I slipped on a pair of Joe's Jeans at the last minute and the love affair began! I had always heard about their Honey Cut and now I never want to take them off kittens! The Honey is meant for those of us that have those fab curvy butts and I have to say that it looks pretty amaze and I will be combing the racks to continue to add to my Honey/Joe's love affair.

As I mentioned in my Betty Confidential interview, fur is definitely something that has always been in fashion but is definitely a focus within my wardrobe this season. This is such an easy look as it can be outerwear as well as the actual main focus of the look (you can rock henley's, tees and so much more). I love this mixed grey, black, cream fur vest by Ines & Marechal and as many people know, I love belts and this one by Givenchy is so fab that it simply has to be paired together. Pair it up with some fab over the knee wedge boots (stellar); however, all boots are not the same. My current drool worthy brand is Camilla Skovgaard as it's like art when you step and I love the boho chic vibe that it provides. Expect to see a lot more shoes from this brand included within future posts and once you have secured them, you can rock the rest of the look with accessories. I got some time to hang out at the Robert Verdi Fashion Week Lounge and reconnected with one of my fave accessories brands - Linea Pelle! This bracelet is a great way to wrap up the look and then pop on a ring. I'm obsessed with Sandra Dini as It's all about nuvo glam which is my favorite look to rock as it's natural, glam and fab!

Fashionable Fridays: Day 8 Spring 2011 ~ Jeannine Morris & I Talk Fashion Week at Robert Verdi Luxury Sweet with Acuvue

Fashion week has so many levels but it's not all just shows - it's about friendships, enjoying being around one another and learning about new brands. Jeannine Morris (Beauty Sweet Spot) and I hung out at Robert Verdi's Luxe Lab! This is a phenomenal space where I have enjoyed going to a number of events but this was my first one that was hosted by the man himself Robert Verdi! While there, there were quite a bit of brands that gifted us as editors. We took a moment from all the fun madness to sit down and to share our thoughts on what we loved about Fashion Week, our fave shows, our style and basically allowing others to see Fashion Week through our eyes courtesy of Acuvue! Check us out and hear our thoughts and thanks to all the fun brands that we hung out with - Tulle, Red Light PR, N'Espresso, Lippe Taylor, Blue Print Cleanse, Linea Pelle and so much more!

Mingling Mondays ~ Don't Be Tardy for the Party

Yes I am a Real Housewives junkie and I actually liked the song. If you think about songs to get ready to before going out, this definitely works and believe me, we all have some songs that some people would question. That being said, it's Memorial Weekend (Tote Bag Winners will have their items sent out this week) this week - where did the time go and we're that much closer to consistently gorgeous weather! So that means that we should be getting ready on all levels. First up, internally. After visiting Glowelle's Blogger Event with TLC's Carmindy from "What Not to Wear" at the Robert Verdi Luxe Lab, I decided that I would glam up my nutrition. Yes, I have been enjoying target="new">Glowelle for quite some time (almost as long as they have been around) but I have been placing it in my water and going. Now that I have days where I begin from home, there is no excuse to not jazz it up! In that light, I am making smoothies all week as I fell in love with the ones that they made last week! Not only will it make me feel better but my skin will also enjoy this as well! Check out our Thurs post where we will have more information about this brand!

I'm also getting files in order as this is the season when my clients approach me to style them on a dime so I'm beautifying my space if you will to make it easier. Part of this is enjoying our deck. We have two and above you'll hear my plans in general as this is the headquarters for not only Kitten Lounge but The Style Pod as well. I want to try my hand at growing flowers, getting new furniture and we are buying a new grill which is an essential around here. No matter what your space looks like, see what you can do to make it more inviting not only for others but for yourself as well!
