Every season I love seeing Romona Keveza and the dreamy bridal gowns that she creates during Bridal Week. It is no secret that since seeing her collection a few seasons ago that I knew she would be the one to design a custom bridal gown when it's my time to say I do! I've also worn her evening wear pieces to Ball on the Mall (a DC event) - which was absolutely stunning. When it comes to design and great fabrics, that's what you'll get when wearing her silhouettes. I kicked off this week by heading to her Legends presentation (unfortunately I was unable to head over to her couture showing) showing! Here are a few images of some of my favorite dresses that hit the runway at the second floor library at the St Regis hotel.
Right before NYFW, my sister got engaged to her fiance which gave me something amaing to add to my plate that never ends up being empty - Maid of Honor and Wedding Planner. As you know, any life event that I take on, comes here to Kitten Lounge. Prior to NYFW, Fridays contained content geared towards brides and now that Fashion Month is over, I'm pleased to share that Wed Wednesdays is dedicated to this exciting time. With an upcoming Oct wedding (next year of course), I was glad that Bridal Week took place over these past few days so that I could understand what my sister was interested in and allowed us to bond with our mom as well!
For me, no wedding search could start without going to Romona Keveza which not only does bridal but evening gowns. Above is a round up of my favorite looks that hit the runway at the St Regis Hotel over the weekend on Saturday! I have to say that we were able to enjoy seeing her affordable line - Legends, The Romona Keveza Collection and then the evening wear line. I love that there was a segment that was an ode to 007 - James Bond. Above there are dresses that I am obsessed with, such as the champagne/blush hue which is perfect for an engagement dinner, engagement party, etc. I also love (on the lower left hand corner) this ice blue (although it looked grey to me) dress. This gave me the idea that I definitely would want a wedding gown in this hue as I love grey. Of course our purpose was to see body styles that my sister liked - how could I not love the dress on the lower right which is definitely up her alley!
I can't wait to take you on our journey as official planning beging Nov 1st - come back for tips and definitely ask questions. For those who are interested in finding out how one goes about planning a wedding as well as how one goes about her duties of Maid of Honor - this is also a fab resource for you too!
Last night, I enjoyed having an intimate preview of one of my favorite fashion shows in bridal, Romona Keveza. I love that she is always at the St Regis. During her earlier shows she has a full runway show on the 2nd floor and then she either shows at the Dior Suite or the Presidential Suite. Yesterday, it was the Presidential Suite and as we watched Legends hit each of the rooms, I began to think about how everything you see inspires the space. This peplum (which can be detached) bridal gown, placed within a room with wood, neutrals and a hint of green with the florals was the inspiration with the overall look of the perfect room that begs to be used as a place for nibbles, conversation and relaxation! I'm loving this wing tipped chair by Ethan Allen with this plaid chair with grey, ecru and white. When sitting with friends, this can be paired with a fabulous couch and this Jocelyn Coffee Table by Horchow which has a glass stop, curved legs and is just pleasing to the eye. When having friends over, Royal Doulton Light Green Chip & Dip Set from Cooking.com is the perfect way to have appetizers and you can enjoy a few martinis from this Waterford Pitcher available at Gump's. Finally keep the mood going with fabulous lighting from the Avante Marble Table Lamp which is also available at Ethan Allen.
Saturday afternoon, I will be attending Romona Keveza's Bridal Shows and will be giving you first hand info on all of her collections. As noted this past Saturday when we kicked off our bridal focus for the rest of this month, you will find a lot of posts that are geared towards brides and their parties. I've noticed that there has been a huge debate in the use of black when it comes to bridesmaids. Some people are opposed to it as they feel it's a bit morbid. I think that when you have an evening wedding and you're going for a glam affair, that there isn't a problem with this!
In addition, I think that when it comes to bridesmaids dresses, you selected your girls based on your relationship with them and the last thing that you should do is put them in looks that are not wearable after the event and/or that becomes a running joke within the party. I'm a huge fan of J.Crew who's placement within bridal is definitely one that many brides look to when it comes to their dress or those that are in their party. For the bride that is young and wants to go for a slightly different look, this Marchesa dress has a whimsical sassiness to it that is perfect for a fun wedding. Finally, Ann Taylor keeps it classic with this strapless dress that has embroidery in its tea length structure. All of these dresses can be recycled again for another look for a night out, vacation and more. In addition, I'm loving the fab jewelry that you can give as gifts that add a bit more personality to the look!
You know that I love Ted Rossi and beyond his phenom python aesthetic, I love that he has fab Swarovski necklaces as well as his cuffs that he is known for! Speaking of Swarovski, how can you not love this Nirvana ring which is available in black? Noir has an edgy pair of talon earrings that will look amazing from the lobes of your girls which is a great way to accent the neck. Finally, I'm a long time fan of Konstantino and this chunky sterling bracelet is definitely a keepsake that you'll wear again and again!
It's official, today we kick off Bridal Week! I'm beyond thrilled for next weekend as I will be viewing a number of shows from Romona Keveza at the St Regis Hotel. For the rest of the month, I'll share some fab items that you should think about for your big day as well as for the rest of your wedding party. I've got the scoop on fab gowns, accessories, his attire, beauty items and so much more! In tweets leading up to today, people have been asking why Kitten Lounge is going to be chatting about this glam topic. For one, I love bridal and have so many friends that are in this phase of their life. I know that one day, I will join the ranks of brides to be so I thought it would be great to share with you what my fave styles are. I love period pieces to be honest and the dresses above are from
renowned fashion stylist and creative director of The Vintage Wedding Dress Company, Charlie Brear, who created a collection that showcases the wedding dress by various Decades. I am a huge fan of the 20's (on the left) which allowed lower waist lines and plunging necklines. I love that headbands became an acceptable alternative to veils. On the right, this dress shows the 30's which is an era of femininity and glamour. This curve loving dress allowed for higher waist lines and a flowy essence to it.

Bridal Fashion Week came earlier this week and it was such an amazing time! Now of course, I attended Romona Keveza's show at the St Regis in the Penthouse Suite. We were introduced to a number of gowns from her couture collection, her Legends collection and her evening gowns. There is nothing like sipping a cup of tea and seeing phenomenal gowns paraded in front of you. I have to say that my biggest take away is that a hint of color within bridal gowns is definitely something that I hope to see more of. If I were to walk down the aisle at this moment, color would definitely be on my list!
