Wired Wednesdays ~ My New Fave HTC Windows Phone 8X

My first intro to the Windows Phone took place in 2011 when I was gifted the Radar which ran on Windows 7. I was amazed by the fact that the tiles were interactive, I could slide them in the way I wanted on my phone and I liked that I could see everyone's updates very quickly whether you're emailing me, texting me or just adding a new status on your social network! Last week, I was in DC for 24 hours and then off to Baltimore to do some TV Segments. The Windows Phone team came to gift me my 3rd HTC phone! Since earlier this year I became an Intel Ambassador, I had gotten used to the Windows 8 platform since it's used on my Samsung ATIV - having it on my phone and seeing the changes made me fall in tech love! Roll over the above images to see how I arranged my phone and why I love the tiles that I use!

An an Accessories Expert, I'm always on the road, running around locally etc and I have to stay connected to my PR team, those who I am about to meet and of course my family. Whether I'm on the road for a segment, finishing items for this site, appearances, styling my clients (with a few celebs thrown in), design opportunities with other brands as well as designing my own jewelry line Kimmie Vincent and more - I love that now all 3 of my tech items (HP Beats, Samsung ATIV tablet and 8X can communicate - thanks Sky Drive) I love that now I can not only arrange but can make varrying sizes for my apps - I essentially have my command center of communication apps and another section (not shown) of my apps that allow me to read a number of sites that are a must to get me on my day (Vogue. Glamour, a fashion app that is nothing but the latest in fashion posts from around the world). I will continue to keep you looped in on this phone as I get used to using it more so consider this a great teaser!

Mingling Mondays ~ Introducing Kitten Lounge U.

I graduated from Indiana University 8 years ago - it seems like forever ago but it's times when people ask what I do or try to guess my age (31 in 2 weeks) that they ask if I went to school to do what I do now. Although one of my majors was Telecommunications with a focus in New Media (social media), I didn't do anything in fashion but I grew up in this environment and always had my own sense of style. In fact, my way of dressing in college set up the way that I enjoy dressing now - casual, comfortable and well versed pieces that can go from a variety of situations with dynamic accessories. I came into my own sense of style when I was finally able to buy my own clothes, figure out the jeans that worked best for me (I never really wore jeans until then), my hemlines came up etc. I learned to incorporate many of the classic components of my style via my mom, into my look. So what you see today is a mix of what I grew up with (love of plaid, certain preppy elements, blazers, etc), with my love of casual and easy and once I got to NYC - adding the glam factor to create my nuvo glam look. Of course I enjoyed some items of collegiate fashion that sometimes are best left for campus (never wore my jammies to class but I had oversized sweatshirts that I wore during finals).

I am introducing a segment that is incorporated into our Monday posts on Kitten Lounge called, Kitten U. These are styles that are perfect to wear on campus when you're heading to class and yet - you can go out with friends, have items when your parents visit or wherever you happen to go. The beauty of this feature is that we're also going to highlight great style that's around campuses around the country. The fashions that are presented here are also fab for those that are not on college so you can get in on the fun too! For our college girls we're looking forward to seeing what style you and your friends are rocking so feel free to send pics as we will have a fun giveaway just in time for Fashion Week where we will giveaway fun key looks for the fall. The giveaways that are associated with Kitten U are for our campus readers.

Today's look incorporates the sweatshirt updated in a new way! I'm obsessed with this sweatshirt as it has a great fit (happened to see this in Bebe and couldn't believe how cute it was) but on the back it has the slashed effect that is sexy and casual. This can be paired with jeans, leggings, cute shorts etc. It's fun to grab food across the quad and also to go out in as well. Simply get a great charm necklace, cuff and a pair of booties (great year around) and you're ready to go. This is such a great versatile top that you'll gravitate to. if you feel that you're back is too exposed, you can put a tank under it.

To kick off these posts, we have a few fab beauty Care Packages to giveaway (thanks to Dove, Lush and a super cute chemise from Josie by Natori and more). All you need to do is to Like us on Kitten Lounge on Facebook and let us know what year and school you're going to on our Facebook Page!! This kicks off today and will run through labor day weekend! Keep checking our Fan Page as we will let you know about our clothing giveaway that is coming up in a few days! Snazzy Sundays ~ Get Your Card On

Happy November! I hope everyone had an amazing time last night whether you were in costume or not. Today marks one of the initial benchmarks of the holiday season. I know we all send a million emails and we use Social Media but I feel that when it comes to Birthday Cards and Holiday Cards, you need to make it from you. This means that I go to my favorite card store Papyrus and I spend a bit finding the best cards possible! I love making sure that I write something personal to each one! My selection incorporates Christmas, Chanukah and Holiday cards. Above are some of my favorite selections and you can get them online if you don't have the option to go to one of the stores.

Start early by finding your perfect cards. During the summer/early fall I like to write out my entire list of people who will receive a card. This way I know how many people I need to get a card for and how many types of cards I need to get. As I continue to meet people once I have a list, I make sure to add it to my list. What I love about Papyrus (especially if you have one of the stores in your town), you can walk by their windows and see what sales they have. Many times, they have a "Buy 2 Boxed Cards and Get a Third Free". Deals like this will help you out. When possible, I deliver cards by hand; however, many times I start sending them at the end of Nov to ensure that the cards have been sent out - it's a process but one that will make you feel amazing and the added benefit - getting a card in return!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Checkin' in With Kimmie

Whether you catch me at an event, see me talking to someone on a show or you just happen to catch me out, you know that clearly I'm all about style. When I'm out and about, people will ask what made me think of Kitten Lounge back in 2007 and I always let them know that Kitten Lounge actually originated as an Internet show back in 2004 when it covered my favorite artists and blended my love of fashion but even that is not an accurate description so I thought it would be good to tell you how it came to be and why it is such a driving force for everything that I do. First off, hi - I'm Kimmie, the Editor in Chief of this site and although I'm not really into the whole "Letter from the Editor" setup, it's nice to understand who is bringing you all of this content and why it's all here!

I fell in love significantly twice when I was younger the first time was at the age of 3 when I remember looking through Vogue and loving gorgeous dresses that showed me that you could be a princess everyday. For those that know my love for accessories, only the big baubles caught my eye! I loved going with my mom to fabric stores where she would make items from Vogue patterns into reality and when she later opened a boutique of custom design clothing in Indianapolis, I was in love. My world opened up to gorgeous brides, sequins, shantung, gaberdines and more and I had an AMAZING closet. That love came from my mother.

My father gave me a second love - at the age of 5, he taught me how to use a computer. We had an Apple and I loved it (don't ask me why I have an HP now although I have to give it some love too even though I continue to dream about a Mac book haha). I loved playing games on it and wondered what would the possibilities of that machine be? Who knew that in college one of my majors would be Telecommunications with a focus in New Media? Leaving IU and coming to NYC, I began doing PR for independent music artists who were only available online and I assisted them in getting spins and getting them booked. Why not, my Great Uncle was Joe Henderson, tenor saxophonist with Blue Note, Verve, etc so it was in my blood and I loved it. But then again fashion kept pulling me back in.

Is it true that I modeled (yes lingerie/swimwear), had a fashion line and currently have my own jewelry line Kitten Couture, and also assist firms with their Social Media via my other company Sikara Designs Group - check it all. But is it true that Kitten Lounge has been around more than two years? Absolutely. It initially came on board in 2004 as an Internet Radio show that I hosted daily for an hour each day for 3 years. Then I played DJ's who had crazy mixes and then talked with indie artists about their personal style. I loved it but realized after I began blogging for another site that I wanted to talk about more than just accessories on that site and do more than just host a radio show. The Kitten Lounge became my place to talk about fashion, style, beauty, food, music and travel. I believed that as a whole person all of this was important to me and that I wasn't alone.

I realized that I'm around stylish and amazing people who they need advice on where to go or how to dress when they are not in the settings that tend to go to all the time. People have always gravitated towards the way I present things and what better way then to introduce my world of showrooms, designers, industry shakers and more to you! Where do I go from here? Because of Kitten Lounge, I have been able to attend Fashion Weeks, go to Project, Magic, see private presentations, launches of all kinds and more. But I truly loved it when I made the cross over to personality when I shot an episode of To Be a Star which comes out later this year. Sharing the importance of accessories, finding your signature look and ultimately branding yourself was so important to me and to the 6 aspiring models that I worked with to achieve it, I'm very proud that I could be apart of that experience.

It is my goal and vision to continue to push various themes that are not only keys to my success but are core mental investments: I feel that accessories are an essential way to set yourself apart and that in the vein of Audrey Hepburn, you can take great classic pieces and look amazing. In addition, you can be someone that crosses over into a lot of areas (hello - I run a style blog, have my own jewelry line, create Social Media strategies for fashion/entertainment firms and am a personality as well) and yet still make it truly your own. Finally and most importantly, Kitten Lounge is about community whether it's introducing you to my favorites that you may not be aware of, reaching out via Twitter (@cocoabebe) or checking in with such favorites as the Holiday Gift Guide which launches Nov 1st (I can't wait to share the fab giveaways that we'll have, those who will be in the guide and a list on who to keep an eye out for in terms of industry must knows for your business). The experiences that I have had and those that will come have come to pass as I'm always open to reaching out, learning and helping someone else. In doing so it has created friendship, trust and has allowed me to interact with groups that I would have never come across if I had done it alone. The power of collaborations and having good people as your checks and balances definitely come in handy when you're running 300 miles an hour - no you're not crazy, you just know that you can do 48 hours of work in a 24 hour cycle and still go out to grab drinks and have a little fun! I want to thank everyone that has made this brand successful and who has been with me in each phase of re-invention that I have been through and look forward to sharing a lot of AMAZING items that are coming up soon!

Treasure Tuesdays: Idalia

You know that I love shopping online, using Social Media and pretty much using the Internet in any way that I can to make life simple! Sometimes, you can feel a bit overwhelmed and as much as we want tons of choices, it makes it hard to focus on making a great decision! With that being said, I learned about Idalia last week during a special presentation (they had literaly been live for about a week). I love the fact that when it comes to product assortment, you can count on this site never being stale, always presenting new product and having a great amount of options. In a sense they have established the "happy medium" not having too much and not having too little! The diamond jewelry that they have is amazing in color, weight, style and more. When it comes to gifting whether it's for you or for someone else, you will find that they have something classy and trendy so that everyone can shop and feel that this site is like their personal stylist bringing them the best finds at one place! If you're not sure of what's good for you, you can count on their guidance by showing you what the trend is for the season and when it comes to pricing, you get an amazing luxury item at an extremely amazing price while having a site that is interactive and easy to navigate! This holiday season, build a relationship with Idalia and you'll find that you will come back over the next few months to see other great items that will be your new must have!
