One of my favorite questions tends to give me the most pause - where did you get your outfit? Literally it comes from bits and places? What does that mean - some items I have had forever and others I picked up from Forever 21, a gifting event, online and more. I never feel the need to wear something simply because I bought it and it's new; however, when I start putting items together, the overall effect is one that seems like I planned for everything to work well with one another. What would I wear on a casual day?

When I have no set plans, I tend to wear something that works well when I'm pounding away at Starbucks on my laptop yet will be perfect for an unexpected launch event that I was invited to where I can still enjoy wearing my jeans and top but may need to grab an accessory. As a rule, I am a firm believer in my accessories dominating my entire look! It's essential that I have the perfect cuff and many times my shoes do match or at least correspond to my bag or wallet. I love the Nina Raye Crocodile Wallet which has that great luxe feel. When you're in a meeting at Starbucks and are running back and forth for another infusion of a Soy Chai Latte, people can't help but notice that this accessory compliments these boots by Frye! In addition, I am a fan of skinny jeans so the Dolman top by Velvet looks so comfortable and casual while having rhinestones to give a hint of elegance which comes in handy when you realize that you have drinks with the girls. A bare arm is never an excuse so find a cuff that works well for you and this one by Anna Beck Rajua is perfect! When you shop don't just think about something event specific, thing about items that you'll need in terms of a collection. A collection must be balances and yet work into different themes. Whether you're playing hookie today or you work for yourself and you have given yourself a day off, who knows where you will end up? I love wearing something that's not only comfortable but whether you're in Central Park, Starbucks or anywhere, you're able to enjoy that and can still catch drinks and lunch with friends later on! Sometimes on a day off, I may start doing some reading (you should check out Book Swim which lets you rent all your favorites from beach reads to thrillers) and realize that I must spend the day at an art gallery as it's something that I love to do but never have the time. I love carring something like Snapz which allows me to put everything away in a cute tote! Either buy one that has already been designed for you or you can build your very own Eco friendly bag! Along the way to wherever you're heading, bring a travel mug with one of your favorite tea or coffee blends and let the day take shape! If you end up going out to a cool bar, everything can be easily put away and you're ready to share all the "hard things" that you did throughout the day! Love what you see? Trendy Thursdays: Smells Like Bond No 9

If you're not familiar with " target="new">Bond No 9, then you definitely need a quick crash course in this amazing fragrance brand that not only has amazing notes but also embraces elements of NYC! I love that with 34 scents for men and women and yes a unisex one as well - this is the perfect way to embrace all the scents of New York! Now with so many scents available, it's also important to enjoy the fact that the bottles are just as gorgeous as the aroma! These bottles are collectibles without a doubt and for me there are two scents that are definitely worth highlighting! Astor Place is not only one of my favorite places in the city, but I love the fact that my favorite Starbucks is in the area and I'm not too far from my fave bars. Astor Place is definitely about the arts between amazing pieces and of course fab music as well. My favorite note is the mix of Freesia and Teakwood. This is a fragrantly playful mix of a sweet/dense combination. When it comes to all that is truly playful and doesn't have to explain how it all comes together - you definitely want to enjoy Brooklyn. Wherever you're from and wherever you're heading this combination of scents is always perfect whether you're heading out to work or simply going to your favorite brunch spot! Regardless of which scent you choose, Bond No 9 has proven that you'll always find what you're looking for or what it is that you're trying to convey!

Techie Tuesdays: The Orbit

I am in love with the Orbit, which is a portable speaker by Altec Lansing! I love that this connects to my iPod, laptop, etc and that it's so handy! Once connected, you can turn on the system and then adjust the volume through the item that you are using to play your audio! This is perfect to take with you on the beach (it uses 4 AAA batteries), use it in study groups at Starbucks, if you're at home and are cleaning your closets - this is perfect! I have been using this since Nov/Dec as it was included within the holiday guide and it is one of my "musts" to take with me. It allows you to enjoy your music while being able to include others or to at least not shut yourself off from those that may be in and out of the room! I strongly suggest getting this and if you do, this will be one of the items that you will find yourself taking wherever you go! If you have the Orbit or are looking for something else, take a peek on the site and I am confident that you will find other items of interest as well!

Mingling Mondays: Subtle Tea + Rainy Days

When the weather isn't so amazing, I either love working at home or if I'm super distracted, I grab some magazines or a book and venture out. It's great to go to Starbucks; however, I don't drink that much coffee anymore and so I search for such places as Subtle Tea. This is a cute place on Madison Ave. They are known for being able to assist you in choosing the perfect tea based on the time of day or what may be ailing you at the time. If you forgot reading material, the communal table will hook you up and what a great way to spend the day, see a new side of town or (gasp) get a little work done thanks to the free Wifi and great nibbles that are available!

Mingling Mondays: Illy

I am familiar with Illy in that I have seen their products and that they have retail locations in the city but I had never thought about trying out the coffee. In fact I have become a tea enthusiast within the last year. Prior to this change, I was all about Starbucks when it came to their Vanilla Soy Latte, Green Tea Soy Latte and any Green Tea beverage that I could get my hands on. This all changed when I was introduced to the most amazing Vanilla Honey Latte on vacation - I realized that coffee does have a distinct taste and clearly, I have been missing out. Thankfully my friend who is a fan of Illy not only agreed that this coffee was good but encouraged me to try out Illy. I have yet to try it but they have one at the Sony building - so this week I will have to give it a try - I completely see coffee in a new way. I also love that this location has a lot of seating and is perfect to meet with people prior to, during or after work!
