Snazzy Sundays: Charleston Edition ~ Bring On the Foodie

I ended the week in Charleston, South Carolina as one of Shoe Week's clients were in need of our styling services for their inclusion within Charleston Fashion Week. Due to a number of things going on, I couldn't be there for an extended period so with less than 24 hours in a town that I had heard quite a bit about (once upon a time, I worked at Lacoste in the corporate headquarters as an Assistant to the Sr VP and at that time, our Chairman and CEO Bob Siegel was from Charleston and lived there while also spending half his week in NYC), I wanted to take in as much as I could. After settling into my hotel, I hit King St to check out stores, shops and of course, I had a checklist of items that I wanted to hit!

I love the quaint streets and the mix of some of my fave stores such as Williams Sonoma, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie etc with local shops such as Dumas and Sons. Since I hadn't eaten, lunch sent me to Boone's Bar where I checked off a Firefly Vodka cocktail - their Firefly Mojito was phenomenal. I love that this bar and restaurant had sports on, exposed brick and was excellent for people watching. With food being made to order, it was a little wait time but not by much and was so worth it when enjoying their Brie burger which also included mushrooms and some onions - so juicy.

After lunch and site seeing, I was off to Marion Square, the site of Charleston Fashion Week. With a flurry of shows, last minute run throughs and seeing how shoes provided by United Nude would look like with the perfect look from Expatriate Clothing, it was time to head back to my hotel (Holiday Inn, Historic Downtown) and to go to their restaurant, The Meeting Room. My dinner consisted of Shrimp and Grits with Andouille Sausage - such an amazing grouping of flavors as I love grits and can eat them in their savory state or sweet! I paired this with Fried Oysters which sat on a bed of diced vinegar green tomatoes! My drink was a Days Gone By which included Bourbon (everyone knows that this is one of my favorite spirits), RC Cola and a few other items mixed in. Most importantly, it was garnished with a Moonpie Wedge! I believe it had an orange flavor but it complimented the drink well and was the perfect item to complete this meal!

There will be a full recap on the show that I styled as well as the designer but for now, I'm definitely thinking that going back for their Wine and Food Festival next year would be a great idea!

Fitness Fridays ~ Keep it Easy

I've only been in Charleston for less than 24 hours (just slightly) and I'm already prepping to head back home to NYC. For my brief moment here, I've enjoyed fabulous runway shows, styled a great show last night (that's a win for Shoe Week and I indulged in some site seeing and Charleston's AMAZING food! I will definitely be back as it was a great time. With my travel, I love that working out continues as I have the use of the hotel gym but I have been working out everyday to Revolt Now Fitness with Nichole. I love that like me, she makes sure that when she works out, that she rocks a super cute look. Working out is a mindset whether you're focused on getting healthy in general, having a focal point to hit or look a certain way for an event, etc. But when you look cute, it can help you get a little more pumped! When I work out at home, you can find me wearing this as it's easy, keeps me warm and then lets me build heat. I also love that the pops of color and Jimi Hendrix is always a win when you're getting that second wind. Roll over the images to see why I love this look and to find out where you can get it!

Shoe Sundays ~ Green Your Decor

Happy St Patrick's Day! Yesterday as the snow fell off and on throughout the day, I saw people making their way to 5th Ave to check out the parade that was taking place. Everyone rocked green and as the day turned to night, even the Empire State Building donned this hue yesterday as well as later on tonight. Green is such a revitalizing color and when you roll over today's images, you'll find items that are perfect in your bedroom and living room whether it's your home or you're thinking of items to take to your vacation home.

SHOE INSPIRATION

The shoe inspiration from this curated post comes from the work that I have been doing on one of my other brands' Shoe Week which launched last Sept during NYFW with a number of shows. Although we're working very hard on NYFW for this Sept, we have a number of projects throughout this year where we work with our clients. EXPATRIATE is a fabulous line designed by Kita Nolley which brings in her love for traveling to a number of destinations. Based in Atlanta, she transports you to other portions of the world. This Thurs, she will hit the runways during Charleston Fashion Week to show her line and Shoe Week partnered with her to find the perfect heels to complete her looks! United Nude is all about architectural design as the designer works in tandem with an architect to create these shoes that have been included in a number of runway shows from London, Milan, Paris, NY and much more.

ROLL OVER THE IMAGES TO GET THE DECOR

I'll keep you in the loop as I make my way to Charleston to show you the line and the fab heels from United Nude. In the meantime, you can enjoy what should be in your home and how a little green can make your space refreshing.

Fashionable Fridays: SS2013 Accessories Campaigns ~ Tom Ford

With Oscar Sunday being around the corner, I'm already excited to share tidbits about the looks that will hit the runway and of course what accessories will be rocked! As many stylists are running around kicking into another level of busy, I'm loving a number of Spring/Summer 2013 campaigns that our out there! Tom Ford who also shot this campaign (obviously not a shock) which includes Karlina Caune within this accessories focused shoot. This look is so crisp and I'm obsessed with these Tom Ford Strappy Buckled Sandle Boot which is available at Bergdorf Goodman's in Black (although the gold pair screams sunkissed goddess and is everything)! This week, I Instagrammed this pair in BG's windows and they are stunning in an edgy way for more of a rock glam look. Visit his site to see a number of shoes and bags that are a must for the mod glam look that he does so well!

Mingling Mondays: SS2013 Trends ~ Classic Style

Now admittedly, the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala took place here in NYC back in May at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center and one of my favorite housewives from Bravo's, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey looked so timeless when she hit the red carpet this summer! I had a brief moment of meeting her weeks after this event in New Orleans at Essence Music Festival at the My Black is Beautiful Booth where I was a celebrity stylist at this P&G booth on behalf of Crest as I am a Brand Ambassador for Crest 3D White! She was absolutely stunning and has amazing skin! I love the plunging neckline of this color blocked dress that also huge her curved and how she mixes her metals together. As an Accessories Expert, I am always focused on styling the right touch for this look. As a fan of natural pieces, I have fallen in love with Kimberly McDonald and am obsessed with this large geode ring with rose cut diamonds (my signature piece is an oversized large cocktail ring by Ana Reign and when I see people that can carry this look off, I'm always looking for was to add it in) as well as her geode necklace! Usually, I love mixing designers but these pieces are perfect together.

I left dramatic eyes and that's something that Cynthia knows a lot about! I would definitely use NARS' Night Collection Eyeshadow Night Breed and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow which has a fabulous blend of gold and black.

Mingling Mondays: SS 2012 Trends ~ Rachel Zoe

I love Rachel Zoe she's a phenom stylist, designer and overall mogul! When it comes to her personal style, she has a number of looks that I love! I'm obsessed with finding the perfect white shirt dress. I love this maxi shirt dress and there's so much that can be done with it. I would definitely roll up my sleeves and unbutton a few buttons. Like Zoe, I like belting this and would totally rock it out with this obi style belt that's grey from DVF which adds nice dimensions to the look. Continue the grey love with this Stella McCartney grey chain tote that is super roomy! Slip into this Banane Watersnake Peep Platforms which are by Christian Louboutin of course and make a little pop with this Roberto Cavalli ring!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12

My world is full of a number of projects beyond just being the Editor in Chief of Kitten Lounge! The world of Kimmie is ever expanding with my spokeswork, styling a number of people as well as doing quite a bit of personal shopping. In addition, it's also all about my personal brand and designing. Although I have had lines under my own name, I am super excited about my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection. This not only allows me to share my love of leathers and shoes but seeing others rocking my K on their feet is fab! In a few weeks I will be putting a photoshoot together for this collection and for those that didn't attend the Meet and Greets, you can snag a pair yourself next spring at a number of stores including Bloomingdale's (select locations: 59th Street, Soho and San Francisco) as well as on HSN when I am back on air with them in March! I'll keep you up to date as I will also have limited pairs sold on my site as well. Until then, stay tuned to be looped in!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Work to Weekend

Although we have all see the Fall 11 campaigns, I had to share the DKNY Men's campaign which started popping up in July. I love that models Jon K, Patrick Kafka and Corey Baptiste were styled by Melanie Ward to go from various dress styles for work and then the weekend! There is such a casual cool and we see it through the eyes of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. This is definitely a great collection for your guy to rock.

Mingling Mondays ~ Meet Kimmie Smith (EIC Kitten Lounge, Designer, Stylist, On Air Personality & Style Expert)

I moisturize constantly and LOVE Pacifica's Tuscan Blood Orange!
My guilty pleasure, personal trend and more is wrapped up in Virgins, Saints and Angels! I have loved this brand since 2006 and have loved this ring in Turquoise (which I now own via Paul getting it for me) which is PHENOMENAL! I love cocktail rings and I talk with my hands a lot. As an Accessories Expert, I believe bigger is always better if you can rock it!
Time is a rare commodity for me and although I travel to a number of places, I think some vaca time in St Barths with Paul would be amazing - hopefully we can slot that time in! I became inspired after attending Assouline's Press event.
My Sony Bloggie Touch is amaze - it takes pics and videos and connects to my laptop via USB! It keeps me connected to events, allows me to do quick vids of myself and I take pics in a flash - it's a must for my daily needs!
Happiness is 5 Napkin Burger which isn't too far from my apartment! I love their Original Burger OR Ahi Tuna with tater tots and a side of cream spinach! I always leave happy!

You hear from me daily from what I love to what I think that you guys would definitely love - so it was inevitable that I would also share some items that you may not know about me. As you know, I'm the Editor in Chief of Kitten Lounge which brings you fashion, style, beauty, travel and decor every day! In addition, I'm also an on air personality as you've caught me on HSN (there in Feb 2011 and will be back on air Memorial Weekend - May 27th and May 28th!) for Sebago as well as being a design collaborator for Kimmie Smith x Sebago Fall 11 and I just got back from DR and finished my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12! Beyond that, I also have my own clients that I style which is always fun to be able to bring my sense of style to their own sensibility. In addition, I love all of the amazing people that I have had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with from Iman, Carmindy (What Not to Wear), Steven Cojocaru or Cojo and so much more! I'm always traveling whether it's to cover for the site or for a project that I am working on so there isn't a lot of rest in my world! This summer there will be quite a lot of work but thankfully, many of you will get to see it as I'll be on TV a lot more and I have some phenomenal partnerships as well. Simply put, I'm always inspired by something and the above will give you a little more insight about me!

The ability to juggle my work, friends and personal life - I'm loving my HTC Google Phone which allows everything to be synced up in seconds. I do so much that's Google based from emails, calendars, translators and more my laptop and phone work is easily integrated which allows me to stay on top of everything! I live for the old school taking notes in terms of ideas that I think I may want to come up with and since I'm always talking to amazing people, it allows me to adjust my Inspiration Boards as well as my Editorial Calendars to ensure that it all makes sense. Although I'm constantly being pitched, I also have my own projects that I'm always planning to come on board (Kimmie's Gimmie's was a fab idea that has now grown to monthly events). You never know when an idea pops up and if it's in the area of "Living the Lifestyle", then it's something that works within the aesthetic of the Kimmie and Kitten Lounge brands!

If you loved finding out about me, make sure that you check out Alex, Beauty Editor of Self Magazine from last week.

Wearable Wednesdays: Day 6 Spring 2011 ~ LOGO Instant Chic Lori Golstein QVC Event

There are a number of things that take place during Fashion Week beyond fashion shows! There are presentations and pop up shops! Now more pictures will be available but I wanted to let you know that yesterday, I went to QVC's pop up shop in Rockefeller Center where we were given the opportunity to be "re-chic'd" in between shows by none other than major stylist and Madonna's first stylist, Lori Goldstein! We all walked away with fab pieces from her QVC collection LOGO Instant Chic - of course I received accessories but there were also cute shirts, tanks and cardigans. Not only that but we nibbled on macaroons and had fun hanging out (above is Kristin Booker of Fashion Street Beauty and Aly Walansky of She Knows.com) and just catching up on the general madness! We were streamed live which is always fun and Lori will be on QVC.com later on tonight 11:30pm - 11:50pm so you will want to check her out to see her fabulous pieces for sure!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Jones NY Empowers You

What makes you feel empowered? For me it's when I have on a certain ring which makes me comfortable when I'm out and about. Empowerment is not only knowing what you know but all of the elements that make you you so that you can be out there doing what you do best! Jones NY has done this for over 30 years; however, their current campaign drives the point home! Shot by Annie Leibovitz and styled by one of our favorite stylists (loved her home and getting personal attention), Lori Goldstein - this campaign shows the modern professional woman. You'll see Jessica Stam, Hilary Rhoda and more with one of the most iconic and gothic backgrounds - Grand Central Station.

This campaign also ties into 'A Woman's Nation' which looks at the growth and influence of women in the home, at work and around the world which is found in the Shriver Report. IN response to this, Jones NY created 'The Little Black Book' a digital campaign that shows professional woman such as Bobbi Brown and Ivana Trump sharing their words of wisdom. Take a look at the campaign and then check out the drops of wisdom as well.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Rachel Zoe: I Die

September Issue: Harper's Bazaar

Photo Credit: Douglas Friedman for Harper's Bazaar

I fell in love with accessories the day I knew that a pair of Mary Janes and a well placed hat made me look I was Madeline - I just didn't know how far a few super cute pieces would take me (I mean seriously going on HSN to talk about accessories, being included in Coach's campaign etc - who knew?)! With that said, I am a huge fan of Rachel Zoe who knows how to bring amazing brands together and creates a conversational looks that places accessories as a primary portion of the outfit. This is something that I have always done before I was even introduced to this stylist but her passion for my favorite part of a look, definitely one me over!

When you grab your September Issues make sure that Harper's Bazaar is one of them as they have an awesome shoot entitled "Rachel Zoe: I Die". She is paired with a number of designers who are not only giving great quotes about her BUT they have this dark concept where she literally dies for and with her accessories at the hands of some of the top designers such as Vera Wang (slipping something into her drink via her fab ring) and Michael Kors! I love photographer, Douglas Friedman's work.

Mingling Mondays ~ My Intermezzo Appearance

I love making appearances and in the midst of a busy show season here in NYC during the month of May, I will pull some serious double duty. In addition to me running around to the Accessories Show to cover amazing brands, I'm also going to appear at Intermezzo at the Piers on May 3rd and 4th (note that the show runs May 3rd - May 5th) at the Eva Varro booth #2718! I will appear to share my styling tips and to work with various buyers and stylists as a personal shopper! I love the fact that I will be able to interact with the line as I have been styled numerous times with these pieces a number of times. When it comes to going to an event and wearing something that makes heads turn, this is a great way to keep everyone chatting about your look! I can't wait to see everyone and to tweet from Eva Varro's booth! In addition, I love knowing that my friend Janine Weil who reps this line (in addition to Eva Varro, she also reps Apart and Silk Couture) will also be there rocking between all the booths! There is nothing like the chaotic activity at the booths!

In addition, to those that will be in Santa Monica on Thursday May 6th at 5pm, Eva Varro will be opening up her very first boutique. In fact, those in attendance will be able to meet Eva Varro herself and enjoy complimentary champagne, drinks and
hors d'oeuvres will be served from Enrico Glaudo's restaurant FRASCATI. Attendees will be able to enjoy music provided by Alva's Music School and the first 100 shoppers will receive one free reversible tank top with purchase which is bound to look amazing in whatever way you wear it for your lifestyle!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Closet Couture Amps Our Closets

I've always been about taking your look and thinking about other ways that you could make it pop more or to integrate other designers into it. Sometimes going in front of your closet and trying to see the pieces in a new way is tough! Closet Couture allows you to create a variety of looks from the closet that they have created from various brands as well as being able to upload your own items. Whether you create your ideal outfit or ask stylists to assist you (you can find me at the username Kimmie_KittenLounge), this is a fun way to play around with clothes and to finally see how something looks together. I've been a member for about a week and can sat it's a lot of fun to play around. In addition, as one of the stylists in that community, I love interacting with those on the site that I have had the pleasure to see their work; however, it's fun to assist members on the site that are interested in finding their signature look. Above are some variations of a look as well as a new twist on a classic. You know that I am all about taking a simple look and changing how it can be worn by swapping accessories. Check out Closet Couture and find your look and if you're already on there, feel free to add me as a friend!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ An Evening with Lori Goldstein

If Lori Goldstein seems to have slipped the people you should know when you say the name, then you need to Google stat! Lori is an amazing stylist and although she doesn't consider herself a celebrity stylist, sitting in her home Mon night I watched the flat screen display various iconic images that she has had her fingers on. Watching all the images, I knew I was in the presence of greatness and sitting in her home - I could see writing forever and having inspiration. Whether it was the amazing books, art or the ample light - Lori Goldstein's approach to understanding her clients in order to take them to the next level is apparent. This event had three purposes - 1) meet the infamous Lori who Karen Robinovitz has been talking about for awhile and 2) take an outfit that you either don't like or don't know what to do with to be styled by Lori and 3) to get sneek peeks on her new collection for QVC!

I know a lot of stylists and for me, I love meeting those that share my style philosophy. To learn that Lori is from Ohio (love midwest girls we think a lot), that she learned a lot in the trenches of Fred Segal and that she believed that fashion should be comfortable and that at the end of the day it's all play and if you don't like it, take the legs off if it - I knew I was hooked. Super sweet, down to earth and with an earnest desire to listen, Lori talked about her experiences to a room that was captivated. I'm always in awe of the various people that I meet at events and that I have the ability to say that I know them - of course Dina from Eye 4 Style was there, Jeannine from Beauty Sweet Spot and I finally met THE Felicia of Felicia Sullivan.com and there were many others that I was finally able to meet in IRL.

Lori's QVC collection LOGO Instant Chic launches this afternoon from at 3-4pm and in addition to fabulous basics and pops of color, I was pleased to see that she has various accessories as apart of the collection and everything is under $100! I received a super cute dress that will be AMAZING to wear year around whether layered or alone and I loved other tops and cardigans. Stay connected to the line via its LOGO Facebook page as I'm sure there will be updates!

In addition to seeing the collection we each received a one on one styling session with her as she tugged, plucked and in some cases cut and cut our pieces into what we always wanted. Later this week I will include one of the pieces that I received in my goodie bag and show how I styled it back into a look but for now, enjoy fab pics from the party (photos courtesy of Shooting Stars Pro)! My absolute highlight was having the chance to chat with Lori about my favorite topic, accessories and to hear her enthusiasm about my focus and that she too felt that sometimes an accessory made the difference between loving an outfit and simply looking it over without a second thought. My outfit that I brought was ok. I didn't hate it it was from Lauren Conrad's first collection before she went down the Kohl's road and I wore it when I first covered Fashion Week in Sept 08; however, when I saw myself with it on camera, I wasn't in love. By working the belt in a new way and popping in her necklace, I felt transformed.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Even a Stylist Loves To Be Styled

As many of you know beyond my work on Kitten Lounge, I also work with a number of clients to style them for a number of their day to day activities (currently, I'm taking on new clients that are looking to spruce up their wardrobes here in NYC). When I'm not assisting them, I pop into boutiques so that I can see things that I would love to wear! One of my best friends works at an amazing showroom, Carlisle Collection! This is a great place to go each season to try on a number of items in a posh setting. Although you don't leave with your purchases, when they do come in, you have the ability to get them tailored! I love the super large rooms to dress in, the personal attention and the little details that take you away from shopping with others who are looking at the same rack or are waiting to get into a fitting room. With so many outfits available, you have so many great pieces to infuse in your wardrobe! Stay tuned for a future event of Kitten Lounge's where I will take my clients with me to this fab place! It's understandable that women come here throughout each season to get a jump on their wardrobes. They're able to build relationships and to enjoy the art of shopping with true joy.

After about an hour and a half, I found a number of dresses, blazer and pants that will be a part of my new collection! The dress above is one that I knew I would love as soon as I saw it online and after putting it on and suggesting some tweaks, this is definitely going to be amazing when I need to go to a press event day or night! To that end, I have paired this dress with fab pieces. This is like the Little Black Dress 3.0! It's super sexy and the embellishments on it make it look even sleeker! I even love the belt which is adjustable. The end of April can't come soon enough! The accessories are amazing and I love love love the Horn Cuff which really adds a different element to this dress!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Hustle Today To Relax Tomorrow

Oh boy today was a long day! Today will be the beginning of various photoshoots that I will be working on to update some images and to get prepped for amazing things that are going on around the site! Crystal and I of Tasty Morsels Bakery will be running around one of my favorite places, the Roger Smith Hotel to make it happen. So instead of sleeping in this morning, I was out there making things happen! It was great to run into Brian and Niki and loved that we had quite the team working with us our fab photographer Manny and our stylist David! When the pictures are ready, I will make sure that you guys see it!

Of course all this running around tells me that I need to head to my fave nail salon Dashing Diva to get a full on manicure pedicure and then over to Townhouse Spa for a nice little massage. I love Dashing Diva as it is the all around girlie place! I tend to go on Thurs or Fri night because you can sip a nice cocktail while you have your sessions but I love this package. With so many locations, you're bound to find your favorite spot. Although I have never been to Townhouse, I'm super excited as I received a gift certificate so I'll let you know how this goes as well. Sometimes the weekend may not be entirely relaxing but that's why you get two days!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Editor or Stylist

I love hump days! It's the middle of the week and a great benchmark to see what has been worked on and what can still be done with a few days ahead! As Editor in Chief of Kitten Lounge, I get an amazing opportunity to see a lot of great products and to interact with so many great showrooms, brands, designers and so much more. While in Vegas in August, I was so happy to meet Casey of Hudson Jeans (she does their Social Media and various elements of marketing) and to walk with her at ENK Shows Vegas. With so many days hitting all the shows, I started to embrace my love for the maxi dress, Ted Rossi cuffs (I never travel without a number of them), large cocktail ring and of course a cute necklace. It's the act of styling a simple look to show my personality and to present an effortless look whether I'm walking the red carpet, tradeshows, showrooms or wherever I happen to be! I'm obsessed with accessories and I love large pieces. I brought a little of a boho-chic Grecian vibe to everyday that I was at the shows (you would too if it was 100 degrees). As I walked around people asked if I styled (especially when I told them I had just completed an episode of the reality show, To Be a Star, where I was the Style Mentor/Judge for aspiring models who were learning about the importance of having a look. Although I have worked with a select group of people, work with a few showrooms in the city and have been called in on a photoshoot - it wasn't something that I really thought I was doing. But the fact of the matter is that there is no better reward than showing someone how they can take elements of their style and add to it to create an enhanced look! If you're a busy individual who loves the idea of working with someone with great relationships of designers that you may not be familiar with, want to embrace accessories (I feel that they are the outfit) and love seeing your style progression, then feel free to contact me as I would love to work with you! So the answer is yes, I'm an Editor and Stylist!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Don't Be Too Sure

5ft2in_2I love that we live in an age where many rules of fashion are meant to be broken and what we took to be truths at the time, are being reinvented. Yes, it is true that in fashion we are all learning new tricks and many of us that may have always been able to wear something are just coming into the realization that we can wear a number of styles, colors and much more.

The other day as I was on Facebook, I happened to learn about a Petite Fashionista  Show that will take place in Canada. Christa Jean is a Petite Stylist and has put together this show with tickets still available It's aim is to showcase the beauty of models that are 5'4" and under. In addition to being intrigued by this event, I came across one of the sponsors - 5ft2in. This fabulous company makes pants for women within this height range! In addition as I talked to the designer, Sunny, she was so excited to show me her most popular pant style! This capri pant is not only popular but she definitely wanted to let me know that it is a complete and total myth that petite women are unable to wear this length of pant. I think that those who strive to focus their efforts on certain demographics of women that may have a harder time in shopping are absolutely amazing and should be commended without a doubt! Take a peek at her site and contact her directly if you are in need of having a pair made for you or someone that you know. I am always a fan of attainable fashion and love presenting those that make that dream a reality for women everyday!
