As an Accessories Expert, I think that life should definitely be blinged out, dazzling and fabulous! There's something about having fabulous pieces on that bring your outfits to life and it doesn't just stop with what you're wearing - bling can show up any and everywhere. I love to accessorize all the way around (even down to my little SwarovskiJackGems). I have been a fan of Swarovksi Crystals for a number of years and I love the campaign that they launched for 2013! How can you not love seeing these fabulous baubles whether it's on a helmet, gloves, dumbbell and mask? The Swarovski Elements campaign was created by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse (Founding Editor and Fashion Director of Details Magazine), shot by Nick Knight and is brought to life with Candice Swanepoel. I love that even her nails are adorned with Swarovski crystals to complete this magical look.
The most important meal of the week is brunch! This is a great time when you and your boyfriend can come together to catch up with what took place over the week or what will happen, where you and a number of couples can come together as you meet over a new or favorite spot OR friends come together so that everyone can get looped back in as texting and tweeting aren't enough many times in order to stay connected. Brunch makes Saturdays and Sundays a little more special and is a great chance to rock looks that you may not normally wear or to unveil your new treasures to the world! When I hang out with friends, people always comment on my shoes first and with the weather turning (ever so slowly), you can rock your spring looks now.
SHOE INSPIRATION
Shoes are one of my top two conversation pieces and it's super easy when they're Walter Steiger who is known for his architectural style of heels. This curved heel brings a lot of drama into your outfit and I love the fact that these nude/blush pumps are a great way to build on top of an outfit!
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
I'm all about rocking cute dresses and the essential cuff when it's time for brunch. It ensures that I have only what I truly need, allows me to stay in the moment without all of the tech I normally take with me and know that I will be picture ready as everyone arrives. I love ombre, it's been on trend from clothing, hair, nails and more. This Otte dress is such a simple piece and incorporates grey (which I love) and emerald (Pantone's color of the year). This simple sheath shape flows on its own and also enhances your natural shape and yet is super simple. Grey is a neutral as well as nude/blush. The emerald tone a great color to bring in to give a pop to the outfit. In addition, these heels with this dress will elongate the leg and I love how there is a bit of a high/low in this dress as it's a little longer in the back then in the front.
I love that this clutch by Stark is not only my favorite material (python) but has a neutral skin with a bit of grey, white, beige and green. This is definitely a bag that you can hold in your hand and accents everything nicely. Green Tourmaline mixes well with diamonds in this Sidney Garber ring which screams luxe fabulous when propped on your finger. It pairs equally as well with Chan Luu's classic wrap bracelet. Finally, complete the look with a fabulous necklace by Jill Alberts which brings the green back into your outfit closer to your face so you can see the motif running throughout your entire outfit in a subtle way.
I believe that no home is complete without having the perfect coffee table book. My collection is always fashion oriented but today I received a book that will be one of my favorite ones to share with those who come over! As you know, I'm in love with all things Swarovski. Multiface(t)s: Swarovski (Style Yourself with Jewelry) which was written by Nathalie Colin (great interview from Haute Couture News) who has been the Creative Director of Swarovski since 2006. Available next month, I love that the front of this book has a reflective cover which has a gorge necklace on the cover! This book talks about how accessories as a whole category changes your style and adds as well as enhances your personality! Swarovski aims to show you how to do it in a number of situations with this fab guide with hundreds of pictures. With fashion icons, fabulous quotes and a detailed how to, I know that this is not only the perfect how to guide (as they have a number of their creations included as well) but something that will look perfect on your table as well.
The month continues as we celebrate Kitten Lounge's 5th anniversary (and you still have time to win yesterday's Giveaway with Crest). As an Accessories Expert, I believe that we must accessorize everything and this includes my phones as well! I'm obsessed with my phone and after getting a fabulous pink silicone cover, I now have an even more fabulous Swarovski Crystal that sticks in the speaker jack of my phone (and when I pull it out because I have to talk on the phone, I slip it into my laptop). I introduce you to Jack Gems, which I have been rocking since NYFW! It's super easy, cute and always fun to hear people ask me if I have Swarovski on my phone! You too can enjoy this by following the instructions below!
We've been teasing you with what to expect at this year's Shoe Week which is full of a number of events including our runway shows during NYFW! One of the brands I'm excited for is Eva Varro which I wear on a number of segments and is known for its vibrant colors in solids and print with Gasoline Glamour, phenomenal heel and accessory brand that speaks to my Accessories Expert know how! The designer, Shannon, is all about putting her creations on her soled canvases which include feathers, Swarovski Crystals and so much more! She has dressed a number of celebs and hit a number of red carpets which is exactly why we wanted to present phenom designers to our event! I'm also excited to share that in addition to seeing these heels on the runway as they will be dressing this entire show (we have 4 shows this day with different apparel and footwear designers being paired together), you will see phenomenal pieces from the collection within our Handbag & Shoe Lounge throughout the day! Stay in touch with our events by visiting, our Schedule or on Fashion Monitor for those that have this service!
Happy Memorial Weekend! As you read this I am heading back from Tampa to come home to NYC! I had a great weekend selling my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 on HSN. So now that I'm heading back home, it's time to think about rooftops, fun parties and more. I'm loving this maxi dress in colorblocked style in orange and bright pink by Tibi Slip on these amazing Ted Rossi wrappd cuffs to add depth to your look. Of course, it's all about fab bling with this Swarovksi ring and complete it with these leather sandals by Jimmy Choo!
After seeing yesterday's event at Saks, I was flipping through April's issue of Lucky Magazine and am LOVING the section that talks about making your accessories art (click the link to see how easy this is to do and how fab it looks)! I had a friend once that turned a room into a closet and had her accessories out in the open and it really allowed you to get to know a lot about her and her aesthetic. Ikea's Hemna cabinet was included in Lucky Magazine (which this image comes from the issue). I love that the cabinet which would have once been used to hold plates can now house your accessories! Definitely check out the issue to show how you can make your accessories look fab. I would add the following to this cabinet to display! Who wouldn't love Giuseppe Zanotti'sSwarovski satin pump heels, B by Brian Atwood's pink python heel and finally, I'm obsessing over Christian Louboutin's Asteroid patent leather spiked pumps! How can you not display your shoes so that you get a joy out of displaying them.
With a little over a week left before Christmas, we can all use a kick in the pants to go out and get gifting. Standing in line yesterday at the post office, I realized that I have a lot to do. My favorite part of the gifting process is spending time cross legged wrapping packages. I prefer this to be a solo activity but if you have wrapping parties, this is how to dress for it!
Personally, I'm not a fan of Fair Isles but when it's the holiday season, I think it's so cute. Here in the city, we have been enjoying fabulous weather where we can layer lightly! So pair this Fair Isle Hooded Cardigan from Paul & Joe Sister with a long sleeve white T from J Crew and Donna Karan's white leggings. I love wearing white well past Labor Day Weekend as I don't believe in rules to style! Of course, when it comes to looking cozy, you have to bling it out as you never know what you'll be doing after all the gift wrapping. Slip on a pair of studded ankle boots by Charles by Charles David which will add a rich caramel to this look. As you know, I'm a fan of Ted Rossi and beyond making fabulous python cuffs, he has adjustable rings that has Swarovski crystals and sits on a python base to create the perfect cluster. Now in addition, my loyal kittens know that when it comes to jewelry I have my faves that I salivate over and enjoy rocking (Ted Rossi, Virgins, Saints and Angels and ...) so you know this includes Ana Reign Designs. I have been writing about this designer since 2004 and met her in person earlier this year and found that she is definitely a friend. This past weekend, she was apart of Kitten Lounge's Holiday Shopping Lounge at Ink48. I am now the proud owner of the very first piece that I wrote about AND fell in love with years ago - a Teardrop Onyx Ring that is also adjustable (as well as 3 fabulous cluster bracelets which I am so obsessed over! This is a great way to complete the look!
Last Thurs, I told you guys that I had finally joined the land of those who rock contacts. Last Tues, I headed over to Dr Resnick whose office in my neighborhood, went back the following day to learn how to take them in and out etc. Since then, I have been wearing them, learning how to be comfortable and more. This Tues, I went back to see how I was with wearing one of my best accessories and was given the official check mark! So when I am out and about, I'll be rocking my Acuvue Oasys Hydraclear Lenses that are for those who want to wear them for 2 weeks at a time!
Once I knew I was all settled in, I began thinking of the items that are a great support to having my lenses. I love having the magnifying mirror as it is something I worked with when popping in my lenses so I definitely suggest Tweezerman Luxe Edition Crystal Standing Vanity Mirror which is pretty decadent. As many of you know you need to have a clean face at all times when it's time to go to bed or even when you're getting up in the morning. If you didn't have time to do a full face cleanse, you can use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. This is also a great way to clean your fingers as well when you are placing or taking out your contacts. Finally, I love contact cases that are full of personality and am loving these Pantone versions available at none other than the Container Store. Be stylish, clean and efficient when it comes to prepping your lens routine!
I have been a fan of Hello Kitty ever since I could remember so of course I officially wanted to wish her a Happy Birthday which kicks off for the month of November. I know that the merchandise has been around since 1976 and being a 1979 baby I can say that I grew up with this brand from having school sets complete with staplers to being able to enjoy the luxe high end nature of it as well! I never travel without my Bling Mirror which is shown above and is available at Sephora along with a myriad of beauty items that will sass up your every day routine. In addition, she makes the perfect look when it comes to the perfect tee (available at Tilly's) which can be paired with a fab look when you're running around town! Get business done with this fab business card holder from Swarovski as well as the fab over the top ring which shows that cuteness and business can happen together. Finally, it's all about pulling it together. With the weather we're having lately, it's all about ensuring that you stay warm with these knit leggings from Y's, and perfectly layered with this leather jacket from Acne Studios and rock out with these heeled Hunter Boots (even if it's not raining or snowing you won't be caught unprepared)!
Earlier this week - yes the one that was super rainy, windy and just annoying navigating around NYC all day long. I am someone who never likes to run around wearing wellies and wet things but there was no choice as I was very excited about heading over to someone that I definitely admire within my fave field - accessories! Pamela Pekerman hosted her 2nd Annual Accessorize for the Holidays event at Kimpton Hotel's Ink 48 (a fab sponsor). We didn't have to worry about raindrops as Pamela insured that one of her sponsors, Ford picked us up in cars to the hotel. It was a nice way to get ready for a cozy night in with friends, accessories, nibbles and bevvies. I arrived rocking dual animal prints, leggings, wellies, trench coat and fab scarf!
Once inside, we headed up to the Heaven Over Hell's Kitchen Suite where we had the option to enjoy getting our hair touched up as well as manis in a portion of the suite courtesy of Maria Bonita Spa. As everyone settled in and enjoyed nibbles and bevvies, we were introduced to Pamela Pekerman's holiday picks (above she takes a picture with one of her friends from The Real Housewives of NY, Romona Singer who also brought her daughter along for the fun) which were focused on us getting ready to travel home and getting ready to enjoy the holidays with friends and family. We were introduced to fab Swarovski bling from Chelsea Taylor which I have had the pleasure of wearing for my appearances on HSN as I love to add a little sparkle which you can as well when you're at home with a fab brooch, ring and more (they even have water bottles that are blinged out).
In addition to loving a bit of bling, it's absolutely necessary to have a scarf - not just for cold weather, it looks amazing to have just a pop of color while keeping your neck cool! I have been living in my Olsen Europe scarf in ombre which looks so luxe and has been getting so many compliments! It comes in a number of colors as well as styles so you'll find the perfect one that works for your look. When it comes to finding your style, it's all about color so I love that Pamela introduced us to a site where you can shop by category but more importantly, you're favorite hue! Colour Me is the perfect site for the times when you're super particular on getting that shade but want to see all the available options!
My FAVE FAVE FAVE item of the night was from The Chick on the Go! Interestingly enough, Pamela joked that I needed this since I am always going on air and I was one of a few people that won an entire collection. This fab brand has a kit which has 5 garments and 2 accessories in it and a card that shows how you can make 25 outfits - (includes black pants, white long sleeve top, white tank, black tank dress, black poncho and a sash in white as well as black) within a case and is $289 total. I love the fact that it travels well and ensures that you can make everything fit in your bag when you're traveling which is nice as it can go over your head on your flight. As you think about traveling via your favorite airline, Travalo allows you to pump your favorite fragrance into this atomizer without dripping everywhere and this TSA 3 fl oz container ensures that you can take your scents with you.
Finally it's all about the look and we ended the night with Franco Sarto boots which elongate the leg, are comfortable and are staple as the weather goes from crisp to chilly! In addition TJ Maxx and Marshall's completed the night as they are a great way to obtain various on trend and designer looks from attire, body and home which is essential for all of your personal touches!
Definitely take some time to look at all the images photographed by Shawn Punch from the event which gives you a 360 of everything from participating brands, fab touches of the events, editors and more!
Accessories Expert/Stylist Q&A: How can I take looks that younger celebs are wearing and add an edgier flare?
Recently at the premier for The Thing, which has a lot of buzz out there for those that are into this genre of films, Selena Gomez made her appearance on the carpet. I loved her boho chic style with her oversized top paired with her sequined shorts and fab ankle booties. This look is so cute on Selena since it doesn't age her and I love that it is playful for her with the large hoops as well as her bronzed cuff. I am recreating a fun look that definitely steps it up a bit more and adds in edgier components. You can decide based on your own preferences whether you would rock shorts or a cute legging instead which can still provide a fun play on proportions!
Rock this look with the Appolon ring from Swarovski which is definitely an accessory that needs to be added into this look. This adds a depth and heft to this look that edges it up. I'd also add in the Eddie Borgo Pave Link Chain Bracelet which continues the blackened silver look. I love the icicle earrings from Mizuki which is long and slender which provides a nice peekaboo effect. Finally rock out some fun ankle boots with Camilla Skovgaard which has a fun strappy detail that elevates the whole look. This is a great way to have an older look, while maintaining the playful nature.
I'm all about trailblazing! As my second fashion mom says (yes my mom is Queen Fashion from her style, knowledge and industry show how but I have another amazing fashion mom that I adore to pieces) "grass never grows under my feet"! So with that said, I'm never one to ask whether I should go about doing something and I always see opportunity but I am also very old school in some ways in that I love a man who takes the lead. I'm the girl who loves when Paul opens doors for me, reaches his hand out to help me out of the cab, pops my coat on and doesn't think twice about holding my bag when we leave events and I'm juggling things in my hands. So if we can enjoy his lead on this, when it comes to dressing for a bridal event, I love the idea of adding in elements of menswear to the look - if this tuxedo from Hugo Boss is any indication, we are definitely going to look amazing when it comes to going to our friend's formal weddings at night. But seeing that we are fab women, we need to add in elements of our personality!
First off, we take a lead with his look by rocking this amazing Rachel Zoe Jerry Tuxe Jumpsuit has that glam bond girl look mixed with 70's and uber glam. Fab on its own, rock it out completely with a fab pair of Christian Louboutin bronze glitter heels. I'm loving Tim Van Steenbergen's sash belt which adds a bit of the heritage of the orient into this look. Top it off with more bling with this amaze Dannijo Coco Silver Plated Swarovski Crystal Ring. You know I never wear earrings that much but this is absolutely amazing when you walk in a room and rock Miguel Ases earrings. I'm also loving Luisaviaroma's python clutch which has the fab finger detail which is perfect when you're carrying it throughout the venue. Finally, I'm loving Yves Saint Laurent's Multimedia necklace - love this piece as it's all about Mixed Media which I am a HUGE fan of and how can you not have your eyes drawn to this look time and time again?
Saturday afternoon, I will be attending Romona Keveza's Bridal Shows and will be giving you first hand info on all of her collections. As noted this past Saturday when we kicked off our bridal focus for the rest of this month, you will find a lot of posts that are geared towards brides and their parties. I've noticed that there has been a huge debate in the use of black when it comes to bridesmaids. Some people are opposed to it as they feel it's a bit morbid. I think that when you have an evening wedding and you're going for a glam affair, that there isn't a problem with this!
In addition, I think that when it comes to bridesmaids dresses, you selected your girls based on your relationship with them and the last thing that you should do is put them in looks that are not wearable after the event and/or that becomes a running joke within the party. I'm a huge fan of J.Crew who's placement within bridal is definitely one that many brides look to when it comes to their dress or those that are in their party. For the bride that is young and wants to go for a slightly different look, this Marchesa dress has a whimsical sassiness to it that is perfect for a fun wedding. Finally, Ann Taylor keeps it classic with this strapless dress that has embroidery in its tea length structure. All of these dresses can be recycled again for another look for a night out, vacation and more. In addition, I'm loving the fab jewelry that you can give as gifts that add a bit more personality to the look!
You know that I love Ted Rossi and beyond his phenom python aesthetic, I love that he has fab Swarovski necklaces as well as his cuffs that he is known for! Speaking of Swarovski, how can you not love this Nirvana ring which is available in black? Noir has an edgy pair of talon earrings that will look amazing from the lobes of your girls which is a great way to accent the neck. Finally, I'm a long time fan of Konstantino and this chunky sterling bracelet is definitely a keepsake that you'll wear again and again!
I love this time of year when you can walk around with a few layers on and yet still have the need to want to be outside. Many of you know that I started in the fashion industry first as a model and then as a visual merchandiser (doing amazing window displays for a number of premium brands). Fall is one of my favorite seasons to check out the windows and since I live not too far away from Saks and around the corner from Bergdorfs I always pay super close attention to their visuals! My good little Kittens saw these images last night as I was walking and Tumbling the looks I loved and how I would be bringing this into my wardrobe by taking components and having them remade to be very Kimmie like. This fall, there are a number of phenom trends that we can think about bringing into our look from - texture, light hues and draping. At Bergdorfs, I'm loving the grey trench with the fur that brings in a pop of color. I love tailored items and I love the hat that picks up the fur color. Whether you're rocking a fur collar or finding another way to add a pop of something (anything Swarovski like - amaze). Bergdorfs also rocked it out with gorgeous blush tone dresses that has sparkle and ostrich feathers - find a way to bring this in ladies whether it's on the dress or an accessory that picks this up - must have now
As I said last night, you can never go wrong with Chanel and this tweed cloak must be seen in person as it has a number of textured fabrics in black and white of course and would look fabulous over a pair of leggings with thigh high or equestrian style boots. Saks brought it with the Chanel series of windows and really took it to the next level with this diva centric windo with caged booties (get a pair NOW) and textured tights. When I was at Robert Verdi's during my Meet and Greets for the launch of my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 shoe line, I loved that Hanes was there and they were definitely pushing textured tights (just like Capezio did when I was at their booths this summer for their tradeshow). You know I'm not a tight girl but I am loving this trend and will rock it out every now and then. Stay tuned for more window love throughout the fall and holiday season!
Tonight was such a fun night as I participated in Fashion Night Out with my favorite Accessory Designer that I have worn and talked about since 2004. Ted Rossi ensures that I look amazing in python and Swarovski whether I'm in town, on vaca or on segments! Taking place at Henri Bendel (my fave place to shop accessories and to see new designers that are out) Ted Rossi and I held a Meet and Greet where we met with fans of the brand. We introduced them to the phenom fall collection and I styled them of course to ensure that they had fab bling to where! It's always fun to do style sessions as an Accessories Expert, with people who know the brand, want to know or have been fans of Kitten Lounge and want my tips in real time - tailored just for them!
Yesterday we kicked off (yes in the midst of the heat wave we're experiencing in NYC) our week of transitions in our closets! The fact is, many of us begin thinking about what we want to wear in fall and the easiest way is to begin with Accessories which we did in Monday's post! Today, we continue on our love affair with transitioning into fall with one of my favorite ways to dress in early fall. First off, colorblocking is perfect as it is a hybrid between black (perfect for all seasons) and white (which is always a nice way to pop in spring or even summer). In addition, many people wonder what to do when it hits the fall season and how one should dress. The beginning of fall allows us to wear a lot of summery items for quite a few weeks which is perfect and is exactly what the above look allows us to do when it's that Sept/Oct season!
I'm always a fan of black leggings (love that they have this python look from Victoria's Secret), when paired with a simple tee it has a fab casual meets edgy look! To glam it up, it's all about the accessories. These Giuseppe Zanotti Platform Slingbacks in black python are phenomenal and play well with pants, dresses and so much more! They're your staple for all seasons. Loving that these work well with one of my favorite python accessories designers, Ted Rossi, who has an amazing line with another texture that I love - Ostrich! Finally, I'm all about Swarovski as you guys know! So having a fab statement piece on my finger is a ring and why not go to Swarovski? You have a chance to win this Nirvana Swarovski piece as they are giving one away a month beginning from earlier this summer through the end of the year! Make sure you visit their site so that you can enter to win their fab giveaway.
We're well into Summer 2011 and although I'm already dreaming of my fall wardrobe as I'm always seasons ahead, with all the travel, hanging out in the city and my normal day to day, I have already fallen in love with my fashion staples for this year! First off, a large tote out of Canvas has always been an essential as sometimes I don't really need my purse or maybe I am doing some accessories shopping and don't want a million bags. So having this super cute YSL bag is absolutely perfect! In addition, my rings always have to be overtop and it's always a good thing to have Swarovski on hand as it enhances the most casual of outfits and is perfect when you definitely want to rock bling for nights when you want to be noticed.
I fell in love with Gladiator shoes last season but I have definitely embraced them in my looks this season without a doubt! I'm loving the ones by Christian Louboutin as I like the mixture of the classic aesthetic with a bit of that edgy vibe which is perfect for shorts, skinny jeans, leggings and maxis. Finally, you have to cuff it up and something ornate is always perfect to cap everything off. I'm loving Low Luv x Erin Wasson which has a fab intricate pattern and is in silver - perfection!
Happy June! Whether you're loving it or still in disbelief, we can finally say that we are in the summer. It's all about warm weather, fun events (from those that are casual to those that are more of a dressed up affair) and just having a great time when everything seems different when sun and heat are involved! Last night, I headed to Marchon's Showroom where I attended the Accessories Council's Top Picks event which focused on Father's Day. Whether you're looking for gifts for dad or the favorite guy in your life, we were introduced to a number of items that work with a number of guys that you could be on the lookout for when it's time for gifting. Out of all the gifts that were shown (if you want to check all of them out, take a peek at the hashtag #ACTopPicks from yesterday), I fell in love with those that are perfect for an evening where you feel the need to step it up! Now Tuxedo jackets were not given away but I do love the Swarovski cufflinks that we received that are perfect for a night out (I think Paul will look amaze in these at the Central Park Zoo Gala next week for the conservancy of Elephants); moreover, every guy could use a wallet as well as a key fob - both are perfect items from Calvin Klein that will add a bit of sophistication to the everyday!
Today's look is inspired by my trip to DR last month when we were at this phenomenal restaurant that is indoors but also has a large deck. To feel like you were in SoBe when in reality you were in the Caribbean with Presidente's at the ready (although I'm a super fan of Brugal over ice now too) and the MOST phenomenal Lobster Lasagna that you will ever have in your life was like a dream. That trip allowed me to design my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection while also being able to eat here during the weekend during a late afternoon and then eating during the week late at night in the cabana. The water was gorgeous and it was truly a snippet of paradise.
This look incorporates a drool worthy caftan available at Anthropologie that I'm obsessed over by Hemant and Nandita (this design duo is BEyond and I would wear their pieces to a number of red carpets and photoshoots that I have coming up), Swarovski jewelry a fab beaded ring and a sexy preppy version of a shoe that I would so rock and is the new summer essential by Luciano Padovan! Together, this look is meant for lounging and enjoying a fine meal and many drinks in an uber relaxed setting.
Tis the season of holiday cheer and excitement. Whether you're a Green Tea Soy Latte girl or a Ginger Latte person - there is something about walking the streets with your cup of joe and taking a moment to take it all in to understand you're in one of the greatest places possible. There is something about seeing NYC blanketed in lights, bows and yes eventually snow (only for a bit as I end up getting annoyed after a point). Today, I will catch my first glimpse of holiday windows but my favorite part of welcoming in the holiday season, is the Swarovski ornament on 5th Ave. Earlier this week, I was sent my favorite holiday image via an Instamax (which those who have an iPhone are so lucky to have to create amazing images) by one of my first holiday surprises that I received this season.
If the past few days are any indication, I feel that this year will be full of amazing memories, changes and a lot of unexpected items! I love that this time of year brings a lot of closure to items in the past as well as hope for amazing new paths that are ahead. With just a few days left in the year and as we speed ahead to 2011, I think it's even more important to focus on friends, family and those significant others that are in our lives. Ultimately, this is the best gift that we can have regardless of what we are gifted this year!
Last week after coming back from an amazing night of drinks, I looked up at one of my favorite sites - the Swarovski Crystal ornament that hangs on 5th Ave by Trump Towers. As an Accessories Expert, seeing one of my favorite materials being used as one of the holiday's biggest symbols always gets me in the spirit of things. Last night, Rockefeller Center came alive with the official lighting of the tree! So whether you're into it or not, we are firmly in the Holiday Season as of now (can't wait to see Saks do their holiday presentation which is one of my favorite things as well). So now that the temperatures are only days from falling and it's the first day of December, it's all about rocking that look of trekking through the city. I am a huge fan of shearling and love love this jacket which is decadent and not bulky! Typically, you'll wear your outerwear more than anything else so it is important to invest in this piece. Paired over a pair of jeans it creates a great relaxed look. With the season being full of black, grey, caramel etc for footwear - it's about time to add some color and John Varvatos' work boot has that red that's not over the top! Make the look complete with a simple plaid shirt and you're set!
Diane Von Furstenberg Look Fashion Week Spring 2010
Usually I like for my accessories to jump out from my "primary" color; however, there are times when I love to have an impactful look. This gorgeous golden Diane Von Furstenberg dress hit the runways yesterday and all I could think of was an extension of golden luxe! To this end, I think minimal accessories are ok and that the gorgeous gold heels which have cute detailing on the back are perfect as a secondary focus. The necklace with its multi media adds various elements of depth (not only is this perfect for a night out but can also kick your jeans and tee look up a few notches) and of course the Swarovski bag is an obvious match to the overall look. If anything, one of the things that DVF knows how to do is to take a great style that works with various body types. The selling points of this dress is the length, the gathering and the asymmetrical qualities that allow the eye to follow the lines of your body. Take some time to check out more pieces from her look.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of introducing Aiisha Couture to you! I love that she is out in Dubai and brings her love of the resort style to her line! We all have at least one time of year that we need to dress up whether it's a benefit and event that you created or more! In times like this you want the dress that will provide the most jaws to drop while as you make your entrance and exits. I love clothing that is weightless so this Yellow Kaftan is perfect for flow and with these textured accessories, you can add a skin and pop of color to show that although you're subtle in your tones, you don't tend to be looked over! As always click the link in the spreads to find out more about this phenomenal designer!
Last week was pretty crazy and my weekend was pretty hectic as well! So with that being said, the round up for last week, starts now and of course there are some peeks into what you can expect for this week and this month as well! Last week, we kicked off the end of Sept with a double dose of tasty treats. Our Food Editor, Paul, took us to il Buco’s annual Pig Fest and let us know a little about the inspiration of Edgar Allen Poe’s book! We also had an amazing series of recipes from Food Network’s Halloween. With the holiday season around the way, we had to get everyone dazzled and we introduced someone that we love – Objets d’Envy which is full of fun and Swarovski Crystals! We had 2 giveaways and the winners of Model Co will receive an email later on today and if you missed the Ellie Handbag Collection . In the world of music, Paper Doll performed this weekend – amazing and we posted about IreneB who I can’t wait to see her live and she totally showed her love for Kitten Lounge by giving us a snippet and a shout out to boot!
This leads to this weekend which was full of shows and interviews that will come out this week and over the next few weeks. I interviewed AW Gryphon, author of Blood Moon! With the appropriately themed Halloween book, you will see various posts throughout this month about her and book related topics! In addition, I went to Beam Laser Spa this weekend and let me say I loved it and will let you in on what happened and as there are various sessions, you will hear more about it. I have to say, the idea of never shaving is so exciting! With so many goodies out there it is hard to keep some things a secret but it will be very exciting to share once I can! This month, Kitten Lounge will hit the road heading out to Atlantic City and Philly! I am excited and we are currently working on another HUGE project that will be unveiled early next year although there will be hints throughout the site. As a side note, I am now linked to various members that are playing Gemni Division while watching it and I love it!!
Finally, to spread some love, Haydan Harnett, someone who you will see on this site later in the week, is having an amazing sale that ends on 10.07.08! Purchase an item over $300 and receive 20% off using the code fallingfast. This helps you get an amazing bag and helps the economy in general as well - very beneficial and fashionable.
