Accessible fashion is something that is core to my style beliefs! We all have to decide what works for us in terms of budget, the overall look that you're going for and where this will take you in the longterm. I love high/low fashion (nothing is better then stepping out with something that's a luxury item and getting a great find that's under $50!). Fergie was recently photographed at US Weekly's Hot Hollywood Style party wearing a black studded vest from McQ Alexander McQueen for Target! I love this edgy femme look that mixes the cute skirt and these fab shoes together! It just goes to show you that an outfit can come together in so many ways!
I never liked carrying an additional bag before I came to NY. I somehow found a way to bring everything in one bag. Now I always have a bag to tote around items and many times I want a cute bag like the ones above when I'm out and about (I'll opt for it in lieu of having my purse during the summers)! This week, we have focused on various eco options that are available and since today is officially Earth Day, why stop when you're on a roll?
Today, I was inspired my boyfriend, Paul (and Food Editor on this site), who wondered how he could get his hands on an eco bag! Being a former surfer, one who enjoys the ocean and someone who believes in Farmer's Markets - I thought I would help him out! In addition, yesterday, I was in Forever 21 and saw the 'Go Green Tote'. I love that whether you're at Forever 21 or Whole Foods, there are extremely affordable totes that help you save the Earth (oh yes your $1 goes far) and in many cases, you can get a discount of sorts at various stores for reusing your bags! Of course, there are various companies making totes that are nearly $100 as well so there are tons of options. I should have purchased the Go Green Tote; however, I have to say that my favorite is the Cindy Kirk Recycle Pattern Green bag that is available on Piperlime.
I am all about lotion but when it comes to what I use everyday without changing every now and then, I am a HUGE fan of Palmers Cocoa Butter! This is a great product for so many reasons. From an economical standpoint, it's never above $5 for a regular jar and not above $8 for the large one. I love that it's available at Target, Duane Reade, CVS and at Drugstore.com. But the biggest thing about this is the fact that it is an amazing moisturizer for the skin, it takes blemishes away within a quick amount of time and it has an amazing smell to it. Using this everyday creates a nice glow that makes you look like you came from a spa. What's not to like and if you love this, you'll love the full product line which is good for many areas of your body whether it's a lotion, soap, etc. They don't just stop at cocoa butter, it continues on with their olive oil as well.
Ah moving in with your Food Editor who also has quite an eye for design means that I don't have complete say so on what goes within our space! I love that we agree and disagree and we are definitely learning. So we have an interesting space that is upstairs and downstairs. We decided that upstairs, which is our living space, will be very Japanese like. Our bed is a beautiful platform bed that is known as Espresso in color. This is great since I love that the wood is black with a hint of brown but I find it difficult to find additonal wooden pieces. We also have gorgeous wood floors that are more a of a cherry stain so the problems continue. We need a bookcase badly and probably a few as we are piling up on books and interesting items. But what to get? Below are some shelves that I am thinking of and believe that this can add to our theme! This weekend we went to Pearl River and we bought our first sake set!
So my past few weekends have been spent looking at condos in Hoboken. In the beginning it was very exciting and now I must say that you reach a point where you get a little desensitized to many of the features that you later learn are standard with the place that you are looking at! With that being said, looking at these crisp and modern places makes me want to decorate all over it! I have learned that my bf is fascinated (read obsessed) with ceiling heights and I am all about storage whether it is closets, shelving or bringing in containers. So as he looks for yet another amazing space, I tend to visit sites like Ikea to find these super cute Spice Containers. I love a contemporary/modern look and I love knowing that I can see what spice I am actually about to use. So it seems that we may be closer than ever in terms of getting a great place! I can't wait to share with you guys all the items that I plan on getting from Crate & Barrel, Ikea, Target and so much more!
I think that having your wine displayed in your home is like art in a way. Interestingly enough, when I visit someone's home I always look at the bookshelf (it's always a shame to see an empty one or one that isn't there at all) and I look for wine as well. I can't say I know a lot about it but it says something when you don't see a bottle or two. When it is there, it's always better when it is presented. I love this wine rack since true to our theme of LAGOON, it contains wicker which I have always felt is islandish in nature. I love that this added element makes it different than typical wine racks and definitely looks cozy as well. I also love that it is available at Target.com so it's chic and very affordable!
I love this time of year! Whether you're renovating your home, getting a new one or just sprucing up a room - it's always nice to tackle these tasks right before the summer comes! I love putting bits of everything in here or there and the Cinnamon Streusel vases are so cute and add a pop of color into the room while still maintaining a neutral quality. Available at Target, you can choose between the tall or shorter vases to create a sense of depth within your home. Of course, you can also visit other areas within home at Target to create the ambiance that you have always wanted. Whether these go in your living room or bedroom - they will definitely add an element of class within your space.
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
