It's the long Martin Luther King Jr weekend and inaugural weekend as well! For many, there will be no work on Monday so it's a great time to not only think about freedom in general and how far we have come but also getting some work done whether it's setting up your business, prepping for NYFW, catching some shows, and more. I am a multi-tasker in all that I do and I do a lot of work from the comfort of a number of chairs and couches while I have my shows (E!, Bravo, WE, Style and more in the background). It's so important that your workspace whether you work from home or in an office, you need to have a zen space as we work hard but should do so comfortably. As you know, I'm a huge fan of grey and like to bring it into my wardrobe as well in to my decor.
It's all about the chair, I love a great leather one that I can work upright in as well as to curl up in and this one available at Neiman Marcus is perfect. This retailer has a number of other great finds including this Giorgio Armani weekender in embossed croco. I love that it's such a fabulous traveling companion that it's perfect to accessorize your space with this great piece which ensures you're always ready to travel.
Pop in some color with this fun Chaps Seychelles pillow from Kohl's which has a nice worn look to it. Kohl's also has a coffee table from Sonoma Life + Style with storage baskets which is perfect in the home office. For additional storage which also serves as an ottoman, is from Martha Stewart. Continue popping in other grey elements with a cashmere throw from Design Within Reach which has a fab herringbone pattern. Curl up under this lamp from Ylighting with your tablet that is inside this Tod's iPad case. While sitting in my zen space, I enjoy drinking a lot of tea and having it with this Jonathan Adler cup is a perfect way to plug through your day. Finally, it's about the smaller details such as a vase form Venini which is perfect for your arrangements as well as this box which is great for odds and ends (I put my jewelry in them as I think it's essential to have a jewelry box to put your items in in every room) from Ethan Allen.
When I think of someone with fab men's style two people come to mind, McArthur Jospeh comes to mind. Not only is he the editor at Fashion Indie but he is also a menswear blogger for his own site, Daily Mister. I love how he nails the bow tie look everytime that I see him at an event, in his offices or when he's snapped by others at an event! Second, is Quentin Washington of Avenue Swank which is the epitome of someone who is always suave and chic whether he's in his hometown of Washington or popping into the city to attend events. I love their personalities and with them in mind, they have inspired today's post!
Here is a way of creating that same fab style and of course you can put components of it together or break it apart to make it your own. Start off with these fab cornwall blue striped bermuda shorts by Kai-Aakmann. I love that these shorts elongate the leg and when paired with a crisp white button down shirt by Maison Martin Margiela (who has a fab design house for men and women). Roll up the sleeves to give it a bit of a comfortable edge and top is off with this fabulous Etro fedora hat which has a lot of varying prints which is perfect for this look! Make the look pop from the blues by introducing the yellow paisely bow tie that's available at Mr Porter. Accessories are everything so we have to have the perfect tote to hold it all together - I love the Fendi washed calfskin cut out bag! This is perfect when you're running from one appointment to the next as no one likes a bag man! Finally, chic is defined by these fabulously suede Tod's driving loafers. Love the color and the serene yet sporty look that it adds into this overall look.
Last week, I shared a great spring time look with plaid! Today, I present seersucker to you. I'm loving Brooks Brother's Slim Fit hooded shirt which can easily be paired over Topman's grey twill shorts. This is a great look for walks in the park, walking man's best friend as well as just hanging out after work for a few pints. Accessorize this with Tod's leather bracelet which has a preppy rugged aesthetic as well as a seersucker oxford by Jack Purcell. Finally, cap the look off with this fun bag from Prada which elevates the letterman jacket to a chic level.
When it comes to his style, it's ok to watch him stack on the accessories and to encourage him to continue building this portion of his closet. As I said earlier this week, it's all about the top 5's/. Guys love the simple half zip cardigan and you can never go wrong with this charcoal Polo Ralph Lauren classic and to pair it with All Saints' jeans. Everything else is a fabulous series of items that are also perfect for gifting!
I am all about the weekender bag which is great to run errands and to have as you travel throughout the holiday season. When it comes to a lush bag, you can't go wrong with this brown Gucci bag. One of my favorite jewelry designers, especially for men, is Konstantino. This necklace blends silver and gold together and I love the Pegasus in black which adds a richness and ties in the multi tones that can be worn together. Rock out more silver with David Yurman's chain bracelet. Slip on this watch by Ritmo Mundo which once again ties in our fab neutrals while popping in color and then finish the look with Tod's driver which I love in this shade and think this is a staple.
It's officially Fall so I have to share my must haves for His Style when it comes to accessories that work with a number of looks. It's about embracing color, texture and a bit of old world elements that are perfect no matter where he is off to! I'm obsessed with Ralph Lauren's Weekender bag from his Purple Label which is an amazing hue (and of course when you need a bag to borrow, it works so well with you). I love classic items like this as you can still rock old world style even if you're jetting off to Vegas for a long weekend. I love Tom Ford's aviator sunglasses which is yet another fab find that you can wear when you're layering up with your motorcycle jacket and cool scarves. Now when it comes to his feet, you can never go wrong with Tod's and this color is a fab new neutral and utterly divine. Rock it with jeans or a number of other pant choices. John Hardy has an amazing Macan Tiger Bracelet that has an awesome amount of heft and detail which is always something that I love to see! Finally, rock his cash to perfect in none other than Bottega Veneta's basketwoven leather which is so decadent and phenom. Together this is perfection for Fall and going into the Winter.
As you read this, I'm leaving NYC for a few days to head to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic to design my second Sebago collaboration titled, Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12! With me heading to the beach (you know I have to get some in between the work), I can't leave my guys high and dry as we're in the second and last week focusing on Spring Break 2011! He looks phenom and any color can be his color when it's worn with confidence. He also loves accessorizing and dabbling! So we're loving when he rocks purple (it's a regal color) and with paisley to boot! When he hits the beach he does it in style and a man in leather is one that we can't deny! So as he rocks his Etrom make sure that he rocks two other leather goods that I'm loving right now! Tod's is more than just fabulous women's shoes line and this Charity Bracelet is fab and if he opts to leave it behind, you have something amazing that you can wear with your bikini instead! In addition, we're never far from drooling about Rebecca Minkoff and love that he can wear this and we can too! Finally nothing excites me more then a guy who smells amazing and with that said I'm excited to share with you Axe Excite which will keep him smelling amazing no matter which product he opts for within this family of fragrances and deodorants. We have 3 packs to give away so just let us know what excites you the summer when it comes to looking fabulous and you could be 1 of 3 winners. Winners will be selected a week from today!
When it comes to my favorite shoe, it's flip flops hands down! I could live in these and I love more than just my Havianas. I love the kinds that also look a little less casual and are perfect to wear with dresses. When it comes to the flip flop, it's all about a shoe that is clean and minimal. These shoes are great since they embody this description whether it's Prada, Tod's, Calvin Klein or Stella McCartney. What's my favorite shoe within this collection? I love Stella McCartney because of the color and the details. I also love that her shoes and everything that she creates is totally eco-friendly.
