Although the first day of Spring kicked off yesterday, this in between weather makes me think about taking a proper getaway and when that happens - you have to go warm weather and beaches as far as the eye can see! With that in mind, I present to you the 10 items that are an essential when it comes to looking amazing. What I love about these key items is that many of them can be interchanged with your looks even when you're back battling the temperatures. You'll love some of my faves from maxis from Mark, Ombre Ikat scarf by Echo Designs and a fab classic bikini by Burberry.
With Oscar Sunday being around the corner, I'm already excited to share tidbits about the looks that will hit the runway and of course what accessories will be rocked! As many stylists are running around kicking into another level of busy, I'm loving a number of Spring/Summer 2013 campaigns that our out there! Tom Ford who also shot this campaign (obviously not a shock) which includes Karlina Caune within this accessories focused shoot. This look is so crisp and I'm obsessed with these Tom Ford Strappy Buckled Sandle Boot which is available at Bergdorf Goodman's in Black (although the gold pair screams sunkissed goddess and is everything)! This week, I Instagrammed this pair in BG's windows and they are stunning in an edgy way for more of a rock glam look. Visit his site to see a number of shoes and bags that are a must for the mod glam look that he does so well!
A great color in your favorite accessory is also a nod towards a hue that could work with you in your makeup routine! With the Oscars taking place this weekend, there are bound to be a number of beauty looks that will be great takeaways. We'll be tweeting the looks of the runway on Sunday starting at 1:30pm EST and would love for you to share what you're looking forward to seeing, what you think will be trending or what you thought should have been added!
ACCESSORIES INSPIRATION
Personally, I'm loving Coral! This hue has quite a range as it can be a bold vibrant color as you would find in this Giuseppe Zanotti heels which is a vibrant pink with a slight red element in it all the way down to a hue that has more of a dust rose/dust blush in a toned down version of coral like these Steve Madden heels which are perfect to accent your fab pedi and ankles!
GET THE BEAUTY LOOK
With such a wide range and so many options (I don't even want to tell you how many lipglosses, shadows and blushes I have within this range of hues), there are a number of ways to bring this look into your face to warm up your skin and to create the sunkissed look that I love wearing when I am on TV segments or that you see your fave celebs rocking. With the nail polishes, if you're going to go coral it has to be bold and although Essie has a number of polishes within this hue that are just slightly different from one another but still having major impact, this one in Geranium is a fave without a doubt! This is perfect for the days of being out and about, hitting the beach and just a fun color in general.
The lips are an essential when I'm on air as I love to do a lip cocktail (mixing a number of shades together to get the perfect pout). Within lipglosses, I'm loving Glazed Lips in Sheer Deep Coral and I love the subtle nature of DuWop's Venom Gloss Coral Tree. For the ultimate in lip color, Yves Saint Laurent has the perfect stain in Extreme Coral. For a shade that's in the middle of vibrant and subtle hues, Tom Ford's True Coral is a great option as well. Line your lips or fill it in as a layer with Colorescience's lip pencil in Coral Life's a Peach.
It's all about the cheeks and having those amazing cheek bones with great blush. For subtle style mavens I suggest Bobbi Brown's Coral blush which has a bit of shimmer. For those who wish to go bolder, I suggest Revlon's Photo Ready Cream Blush in Coral Reef. As a side note, I use a number of corals on my cheeks so those with mid to darker skin tones shouldn't be afraid to have blush that fits in the dark pink to berry tones. In many cases, I actually mix is in with a bronze hued bronzer to tone it down so you have the hint of pink or coral hue coming out which makes your skin look illuminated!
In the world of accessories, it's so hard for me to have a favorite as I'm always embracing a new pair of heels, a bracelet, necklace etc. As many of you know, as an Accessories Expert, I always lead Accessories Forward! I pick my outfits based on these gems and love the whole process of finding the perfect mix. This time of year finds me doing a number of activities within short time frames whether it's styling a client, working on my jewelry line, checking out presentations and more. It's all about an outfit that works and ensuring that accessories keep me feeling completely in my element!
Leggings and jeggings are a major component to my look and I love a great shirt whether it's a button down or tee. I love these DSquared Slim Jeans which are a great pop of color and of course showcases the colors of my brands. It's all about an ode to old school with this fab ruffled shirt by Sara Roka.
This is such a crisp look that with fabulous accessories can really make your look phenomenal. I love these Sergio Rossi Painted Python Heels which is a great way to make a number of your looks come together without a doubt!. Never one to shy away from fun bold accessories, here are my top picks! Balenciaga's Arena Giant Rose Gold City is a fabulous touch whatever you're wearing. My readers know that I have been such a fan of this brand's bags and with so many colors that are available, how can you not find a favorite! A recent fave has been Kimberly McDonald who has so many pieces that has come on my radar. I love geodes and have been rocking a few pieces from a number of designers but her 18kt Rose Gold Geode and Diamond ring is such a fab item. Arm candy is an essential and I have a number of bracelets from Charriol and love their pave bar diamond wrist love.
Complete this look by a few more dazzling details. Lucifer Vir Honestus Diamond Trofeo Bracelet is a dynamic piece that works well whether you're dressing something up or taking it to the next level. Although I'm not a watch girl, there are times when it seems appropriate - this would be NYFW as I'm always running from one show, showroom, etc to another and getting just enough time to hang out with my girls. Movado'smother of pearl watch with diamonds is perfection. Finally, my sunglasses are everything! NYFW has some early call times when I'm backstage and events go well into the night. To ensure that I rest my eyes, I'm always looking for the perfect pair and I have been in love with Tom Ford's Rhi sunglasses which bring out your inner Charlie's Angel to be sure!
When talking with Cat Deeley (producer and host of So You Think You Can Dance, as well as a model and actress), you get the impression that this fabulous fashionista and host is not only comfortable in her own skin but is willing to put herself out there and truly has a love for fashion and attention to detail. Although I missed seeing her in person last week at a Crest event, I got a chance to chat with her moments ago to find out her and her sense of style.
First, I always ask about people's routines. As you know, I'm always running to appointments in the city, hopping on a flight to HSN, designing lines etc and I loved hearing that Cat also agrees with my notion of being able to prep so you're always ready and keeping it easy so we can continue to multi-task. Cat believes in ensuring that she gets her nails shaped so she's always ready for a great color change, that even when her hair pulled up that she has maintained her mane with a great cut and color and she loves the 2 hour Crest Whitening Strips as it allows her to continue to read her emails, do a facial etc and after she's done, she doesn't need to think about doing it daily! This saves time when she's traveling and even when you're in the crazy holiday season, it allows you to get two important things taken care of - taking care of yourself while also making your deadlines!
When Cat hosts SYTYCD or hits the red carpet, she has such an army of designers that she loves. I asked her about her favorite look that she rocked when she was hosting the show and immediately she talked about a dress that she had owned for nearly 10 years! She's a fan of recycling within her own wardrobe and more importantly, she has such a story with a number of the items that she rocks as well as designers that she loves! Hearing the story, you understand the connection and can see why this fab lady wears a number of fabulous pieces without having a stylist - impressive. Last summer on SYTYCD, she wore the above Tom Ford for Gucci Dress from Spring 2003. This came about as she was on a transatlantic flight and he happened to be on there. Just in case we were wondering, Tom Ford (no shocker here) was impeccably dressed and she highlights that he is charming, chivalrous and everything one can imagine when thinking of his world of style. Because of that run in, she remembered that she had the above dress that she had worn years ago and decided to wear it on an episode of the show. Wearing this dress had a new meaning and anytime you're able to connect with a designer on that level it definitely becomes a favorite designer that you're honored to wear!
Without a doubt, Cat is a Fashion Expert, when you hear her talk about style, the fact that she merges new designers with established ones and can also mix high end with fast fashion - it's no wonder that after checking out her site that we saw a number of videos she did in partnership with Yahoo - In The Dressing Room with Cat Deeley. Here she chats with a number of designers. To date, her favorite is Matthew Williamson and if she had the chance, she'd love to speak with Grace Coddington as she is intrigued about finding out her inspirations (which is one of my favorite things to learn about creative people).
Prior to speaking with her this afternoon, I knew she would be bubbly and engaging as you get that from her appearances but being able to find out that she has a great sense of pride in her fashion style and isn't afraid to use her platform to showcase a number of styles, designers and more makes her adorable and a girl that you'd definitely love to chat with for hours.

I love when it's time to travel (as you saw yesterday) and I love planning his outfit too. I love keeping it simple as you want to be able to access everything as well as to ensure that he's comfortable. I love these mustard stretch skinny jeans by Topman. Pair this up with a white tee by Vstr Visitor and is available on Swell. Let him slip into this Gucci leather drivers which are as comfortable as one can be on a flight and then hitting the ground running! With Tom Ford's sunglasses the look is nearly complete and a guy in aviators is never a bad thing!
Being a guy on the go, I'm all about protecting his iPad and interestingly enough, I make sure he has a number options. For this look, I love how he's rocking caramel and mustard tones so mobileexpressions by LuxMobile's textured iPad case is exclusively available at Target. They have you covered for a number of your most important tech items. He can slip this into his Obey Messenger bag which keeps everything stored and within hand reach!
Yesterday we swooned over Beyonce looking amazing in her dress at Vogue's Met Ball which was held Mon night! Today, we're all about how chic Tom Ford always looks and how although he rocked a fab accessory, Chanel Iman (she is perfectly accessorized), what else could he have included in his look?
I would have popped in a little red! I love Movado's Red Label Watch which blends well with cufflinks by Barneys which have the same theme as well as one of my favorite designers, David Yurrman. This signet ring with garnet is very classic and more importantly, eye catching!
Vacations seem to be few and far between but I am constantly traveling! Tomorrow I will jet off to LA to mix business and pleasure together! I'm excited to be with my boyfriend on his Social TV conference that he produced and will be on panels for, I'll be working on a number of items involving the ever growing Kimmie brand and of course taking some much needed down time/ I'm loving that I will have a chance to enjoy some time by the pool!
When it's time to have some pool time, I believe in rocking it out! First you have to start with the bikini, I'm loving DVF who has an awesome zebra beaded ensemble which is perfect! Make it look super cute by slipping on a pair of shorts by Rag & Bone. Super cute shorts beg to have fab heels on and when in a bikini, I love rocking wedges and this pair by Brian Atwood is amazing! Rock on a pair of sunglasses with Tom Ford and finish it off with Bottega Veneta's woven leather satchel which is the perfect way to take much needed down time - when you can!
This weekend is New Year's Eve - can you believe it? What is it about this holiday that brings low stress and has the most fun possible? I think it's that you can be as glam as you want to be and no one questions it whether you're off to a big bash or doing something smaller - glam comes with the territory! In that vein, today's post was inspired by Eugenia Kim's super sassy earmuffs that make me think of fab shades and hues. In today's Kimmie's 5s, we explore some of my faves!
Start out the night with Diptyque's Do Son Shower Gel which has tuberose, berries and flowers in it. This is a great way to ensure that you're night will start off amazing since you'll be aromatically in the right direction. For a fabulous look, it's about the eyes. I'm loving Bobbi Brown Black Ruby Sparkle Eye Palette which gives you quite a few options for a smoky eye. Bring in some of the old Hollywood vibe with YSL's eyeliner. Lips look amazing with Tom Ford's beauty line and with a rich hue which is perfect for lipstick. Finally, rock fab dark nails with Butter London which has a fab black polish which looks amazing no matter where you spend this evening!
Everyone is thinking about having a few days of down time wherever that may be for you! That means that at a moments notice, you never know where you're off to or when an overnight trip becomes one that could be a little longer. In these cases I pack up my weekender from Brahmin which is apart of their Melbourne Anywhere collection in this fabulously rich almond shade and I ensure that my fave 5's make it with me as I need to look refreshed no matter what the day or night holds!
Included in my bag of beauty tricks is a fun shade! Now we all know that I am all about Zoya's Indigo which is a fabulous blue with a glitter component in it but when I received Butter London's nail polish in Jaffa a vibrant orange/coral shade, it got me into thinking about upcoming spring vacations or winter vacations in Turks and Caicos (there soon). I definitely love the idea of embracing fun shades on holiday and I love that it's free of all the chemicals that you don't need on your nails or adding into the environment. In addition, I recently became super fond of Clairvoyant Beauty, another eco friendly line. Because I do a lot my eyes can get super tired and with pictures and having these be the window to my soul, I love that this line contains a product that is all about De-Puffing with it's Cucumber and Cranberry Eye Gel. It's refreshing and yet again making sure your skin is fab.
Don't leave the rest of your skin out without using Fresh's Brown Sugar Body Polish which is a must. It smells phenomenal but I believe weekly use (and of course using Palmer's Cocoa Butter afterwards ensures that your skin is soft and supple as if you just finished spaing. When it's about topical solutions, I'm all about having my atomizer of my fragrance of the moment so I'm not TSA concerned as I jet through the airport and I'm loving Frago's (Fragrance on the Go) Atomizer which comes in a number of hues! It's all about the gloss at the end of the day and Tom Ford's lip gloss in Pink Guilt is sultry perfection and perfect for wherever you're off to.
It's officially Fall so I have to share my must haves for His Style when it comes to accessories that work with a number of looks. It's about embracing color, texture and a bit of old world elements that are perfect no matter where he is off to! I'm obsessed with Ralph Lauren's Weekender bag from his Purple Label which is an amazing hue (and of course when you need a bag to borrow, it works so well with you). I love classic items like this as you can still rock old world style even if you're jetting off to Vegas for a long weekend. I love Tom Ford's aviator sunglasses which is yet another fab find that you can wear when you're layering up with your motorcycle jacket and cool scarves. Now when it comes to his feet, you can never go wrong with Tod's and this color is a fab new neutral and utterly divine. Rock it with jeans or a number of other pant choices. John Hardy has an amazing Macan Tiger Bracelet that has an awesome amount of heft and detail which is always something that I love to see! Finally, rock his cash to perfect in none other than Bottega Veneta's basketwoven leather which is so decadent and phenom. Together this is perfection for Fall and going into the Winter.
I'm here, I'm there - I'm everywhere! But no matter where I am, I know that I'm also camera ready. Coming from a natural jetsetter (my mom), I had to share pieces that are steal worthy out of my closet that my mom would rock before I could notice that she had indefinitely "borrowed" them. First off, the other night, I went to Vogue's Brahmin event and fell in love all over again with a number of fabulous bags (if only I had the weekender, my travel collection would be complete. We all know there are a number of ways of jazzing up our bags - so why not have this cute Ferragamo scarf to ensure that everyone knows that you have style! I'm all about charm bracelets and love the coins from Ben-Amun which add some history to your look. No look would ever be complete without my large sunglasses and Tom Ford's Limited Edition Ali Sunglasses are an absolute must! My mom may be a jetsetter but I know her first stop would be my closet!
So today I am heading off to an amazing breakfast hosted by the Girl Scouts and taking time to honor a number of executive women! I was never a girl scout although I am a fan of their initiatives as well as their Thin Mints! I am super excited to attend the event. It was in a conversation with a friend last night that made me realize that every now and then, my look must take a nod towards the corporate side. Even though I worked in a corporate environment once upon a time ago, it wasn't like I had to dress that way. To be honest (and as noted on a previous post), I love the Wall Street or fabulously chic fashion guy look. There is something about a guy in a great suit that definitely makes you do more of a double take!
When it comes to phenom suits, no one does it better then Tom Ford and I have a penchant for plaid, wool and mohair! So the suit is a no brainer and with the chill in the air that is setting in, I love a guy with a cute scarf and a newsie cap! His style is all about being a guy on the move and although I think iPhones are fab - I'm a Blackberry girl at heart so knowing that he protects his most important tool with a super cute Gucci case is definitely a nice touch. What a fun look with the fab tones of blue and grey and then the slight pops of color!
Keeping it "Signature". What exactly does that mean? Well a signature is something that is your version of the "back to basics", "the classics" or an "old standby". It may not sound like it's fashion forward but it can be! For me, my signature works no matter where I may be heading to! It's the look(s) you pick when you have multiple things and you don't have a lot of time to change (or if you do need to bring something it may be a belt of sorts). As we head into this in-between weather, we start peeling the heavy layers for something that is lighter.
I am a fan of the Lauren Conrad collection as I have quite a few pieces. I love this wrap. It's a dynamic look, love the layers and it works when you're feeling 100% or even when you think that you may be bloated (we've all been there). This look is great with a simple black tank or tee and worn over leggings (the liquid leggings is a hot look and one that you should definitely put within your closet). You can also pop various colors into this scheme if you like.
A look like this needs a good pair of sunglasses - who doesn't love a retro pair like the ones from Tom Ford? Currently, I have a large pair by Marc Jacobs that has an olive tone in the frames which is a nice way to add a slight amount of color and yet keeps it to my signature look.
The bag is from my dear friends at Ted Rossi. You have heard me talk about how much I love wearing their cuffs and carrying their clutches (I wore them throughout my recent trip to the Dominican Republic). There is a definitely a feel of luxury when you carry their items and this looks amazing on your arm with this look!
Finally, add a pop of color (especially when you decide to go monotone - which I love doing) with the shoes. I love the Corsica strappy sandal which looks AMAZING with leggings. At my recent Jimmy Choo event, I saw girls with leggings wearing this shoe and it was very nuvo-glam! Not only does this add height but it creates a very nice silhouette that will leave people begging to know who your stylist is! My look incorporates simple pieces with pops of something here and there. What's your signature look and what is a must in your wardrobe?
