Treasure Tuesdays: 24 Hours In ~ Georgetown Sneak Peek

With all the travel that I do, sometimes it means I am literally in a city for 24 hours and a portion of that time may involve work and the rest of it is about me being there early enough that I can take in the sites. I am fortunate that many of the cities I go to are those that I see a lot. When that happens, I feel like I want it to be like another home for me. Our new series "24 Hours In" looks at these cities (much like our city editions tend to be for cities that I spend a lot more time in whether on vacation of a press trip). This week, I was in Georgetown, a quaint and preppy section of DC as I wanted to get to know my favorite parts, boutiques that were accessible to my hotel (I stayed at the Fairmont Hotel of Georgetown which was fabulous, old world and grand in a very zen way), great restaurants and places to get a drink! In 24 hours you can take in a lot especially when you know you will be back as you're moving on to a segment in Baltimore (for those that caught me live this morning on Fox 45 talking about 10 Must Have Accessories - thanks for watching) and then coming back to the city to finish up! As I just got back to NYC, I will loop you in on the newest series to be included on Kitten Lounge as this will be an ongoing one! Georgetown's inclusion will be a post for tomorrow as well as within our Kick Off to Summer Guide which will be out on Friday of this week!

Treasure Tuesdays: Accessories Spotlight ~ Alex Clancy of Love, Alex

A few days ago, I shared the Spring collection of an amazing luxury line called Love, Alex! I loved everything about the bags, learning about its design and more and had to find out more. You can read my initial thoughts and introduction to this line by checking out my previous post (also check out items from the current Spring/Summer 13 collection); however, today, I am including an interview I did with Alex Clancy the designer and founder of this fabulous line! Find out about how she creates the line, the focus on charity and what we can expect for Spring 14! You can also check out some of the pieces that I'm loving for Fall 13 which will hit shelves a few months from now!

How did you come about creating Love, Alex?

Love, Alex was born out of my belief that there’s room in the luxury landscape for a company with altruism at its heart. By building on the theme of love, we’ve created a brand that enables luxury consumers to share their good fortune with the world. Since inception, Love, Alex has made significant contributions to DonorsChoose.org – a philanthropic organization that supports children’s education nationally, and we plan to continue to donate proceeds of sales to DonorsChoose.org as we grow.

How do you begin designing your line?

Art and sculpture are always starting points for design inspiration. Travel is also important as it opens the mind.

Philanthropy is a huge element within your line. Share with our readers how you give back and your charities’ focus.

The transformative power of love is at the heart of our charitable mission. We’ve partnered with DonorsChoose.org because we believe education is the greatest accessory of all.

Where is Love, Alex currently selling?

* LoveAlex.com

Current stores selling the spring 2013 collection:

* B. Barnett, Little Rock, AK

* Frances Heffernan, Winnetka, IL

* Elements, Chicago, IL

* Rafaels, San Francisco, CA

* Lulu Brandt, Pasadena, CA

What fashion icons are wearing your bags and who would you like to see wearing them?

I would love to see Tilda Swinton carry a Love, Alex bag. She is the epitome of understated elegance and classic modernity. Iman and Sandra Bullock are two other beautiful women who I think would appreciate the designs and mission of Love, Alex.

Beyond fashion icons, there is something for everyone at Love, Alex. The highly functional bags come in many shapes, sizes and colors… each one is timeless.

Your line is luxury at its best, beside python, do you see integrating other premium materials within your line for future seasons?

In addition to Python, we use Alligator, Ostrich and Lizard. All leathers are premium quality and produced in Italy.

Will Love, Alex take on additional categories such as accessories, shoes, handbags etc.?

Yes, we plan to expand into other accessory categories including wraps, hats, small leather goods, and jewelry… anything that has the power to transform a look.

How has your family played a role in the creation of this line and the focus on philanthropy?

I am blessed to have a loving and supportive family. My sister, Lisa Llewellyn is a creative genius and a wonderful sounding board. She celebrates all creative endeavors and always finds something of value, even in a bad idea.

Each of your bags have unique names, how did you come about naming them?

Love, Alex bags are named after trees around the world as trees have so many positive meanings and images…the tree of life, children climbing trees, books are made from trees (education is our key charitable focus), trees create the air we breathe. Each bag name is carefully chosen out of love.

I've seen your Spring collection and just viewed you fall collection, what can we expect for Spring 14 - any hints?

For Spring we are continuing to explore volume and layering of materials and color. Hardware is inspired by modern monumental sculpture by the likes of Richard Serra.

What can we expect from Spring 14 from you and as your line focuses on destinations, what area will you transport us to next?

Our spring 2014 collection will continue to feature refined mixing of materials and colors while layering bold colors such as chartreuse and cobalt into our classic palette of white and pale nudes.

What else should we know about Love, Alex?

I’ve spent every summer of my life collecting beautiful shells on the beach in Martha’s Vineyard. The creamy mother of pearl patinas and pale iridescent shades are the inspiration for the core color palette of the Love, Alex line.

Fitness Fridays ~ Workout Will Travel

For the past 11 days, I have been adding an additional layer to my workout with Revolt Now Fitness which allows me to work out every day without having to leave my home. This is great as many times I have done it from my tablet, laptop, phone etc whether it's been in my apartment or when I've been on the road. It's that season where toning up is the theme of the season as the Spring makes me think of the summer, beaches and being on a rooftop, appearances I'll be making and TV Segments. The ease of being able to add this into my workout and being able to rewind it as I do a number of workouts throughout the week, is why I'm a fan of Revolt Now Fitness.

When working out, a goal is always an essential and although there are a few of them, I think there is no goal more sobering then of course fitting into your fave bikinis as they become an essential for this upcoming season! My beach look will include fabulous bikinis from Dolce and Gabbana in Sicilian Print. Pair this with Yosi Samra's flip flops in bronze which is a great color to where with a number of hues. Finally, accessorize this look with a statement ring from Maison Martin Margiela's gold tone pearl ring.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Travel Ready

On a rainy day like today, I'm always asked what one should wear when traveling to a warmer climate when you need to hit the road running. I love keeping it light and easy and of course it's about pops of color for your accessories! I love playing with primary colors as it's a classic look!

THE LOOK

This look is easy whether it's in the spring/summer and the weather might be a bit rainy or you're looking for a way to head to the airport! I believe that everyone needs a great trench coat and should have a navy as well as a khaki one. In addition, a long one as well as a short one is an essential as well. Building out great outerwear in this category is an essential and is a great way to infuse color! This Coach (I definitely want to rock the one in pink) trench is definitely the perfect item to have in your closet. Pair this with L'Wren Scott who always has great ruffle tops that are classics as well as fun prints. This yellow one has a great pattern and one that works well with this Paige jegging.

ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK

Running through the airport doesn't mean you need to slack on style nor does it mean that it needs to be cumbersome when you hit TSA and have your items scanned! I love Marc by Marc Jacobs Turnlock Rubber bracelet which is a great way to show off this look. Effy Collection Citrine ring is perfect to bring this yellow hue back into the outfit and is a great cocktail ring that is always one of my signatures when I'm out and about. Although I am a heel girl, I'm also very much so into flip flops (usually Havaianas and sandals! These sandals from Sergio Rossi are perfect and can be worn casually as well as dressed up - I'm absolutely in love and know that I must pick up a pair for my spring/summer! The red with the navy and white stripes is absolute perfection and seems to scream warm weather. Pop red back in with this fringed clutch (yes if I am traveling for a meeting and am heading from the airport and straight to the conference room, I will have it in hand. This clutch by Mara Carrizo Scalise has an elegant rich and worn leather that just completes the look. Finally it's all about the luggage and although I tend to travel light (even when I appear on HSN for 3 segments) with a weekender, I like knowing I have options whether I need to bring more OR I want to change it up a bit. Nothing is better than Diane Von Furstenberg's collection which combines form and function together!

Trendy Thursdays ~ All Hands on Deck

Hands are a key part for our beauty look as they do some serious double duty as they showcase our rings, we use them to gesture and more! I love getting my manis done at a salon; however, there are times when I do it myself due to a quick change or simply wanting to do it. With that said, here are my must have picks when it comes to have the necessary items whether you're doing it from the beginning or just doing something quickly!

First off, I love making sure that everything has its proper container. I have a been a fan of Stephanie Johnson for years and keep all my nail care items within her cases as it's easy to transport as well as it allows me to see what I have. She has so many styles and fabrics, it's fun to have a number of collections and is a must to keep things organized at home and when you travel.

When it comes to tools, I love the Nail Experts 4-in-1 Salon Manicure Kit which fits easily in the hand by Avon and I always have my Tweezerman Mini Nail Rescue Kit as well. When it comes to prepping your nail for a polish change, I am OBSESSED with Crabtree & Evelyn's Nail Polish Remover Wipes which contains one wipe per packet. Each packet has quite a large removal wipe which allows you to clean all 10 nails and it doesn't have that medicinal smell! At first, I thought that the wipes were dry but note that there is plenty of solution on them to do the job. In addition, to ensure that your cuticle and nail are nourished, use Nail Experts Green Tea Cuticle Serum which is also available at Avon. I placed this on the cuticle and rubbed it in and then continued to apply it across my nail.

One of my favorite hues that I'm rocking currently is Crabtree & Evelyn's nail polish in the hue Black Cherry! I love how rich and dark it looks and how it spreads evenly across the nail.

Continuing to take care of your hands is an essential even when you're not updating your mani! Hands stay smooth and amazing when you exfoliate them. I suggest using Project Fig as it has a great smell. I love making sure that my hands stay clean with The Body Shop's Absinthe Purifying Hand Gel has a cooling effect and a slight musk/sage smell that works well for men and women. In addition, I am a huge believer in making sure that my hands are moisturized and why not do it with a bit of SPF (they have 30, 50 and 70)! As today is the last day of January, you may not have known that these past 30 days were actually a part of National Oatmeal Month. Aveeno is an oatmeal based product that many with sensitive skin enjoy using due to its benefits. Although my skin isn't sensitive, I do love the nourishing value that comes from the ingredients and love putting this in my routine!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Gold Chemise Inspires Your Holiday Decor

There's nothing like snuggling in your home whether it's curling up with a loved one, a good book, your laptop, watching TV or whatever you do when you get inside your four walls! As always, every Sunday we look at how to enhance our living space with a nod to a fab fashionable item. Today, we've fallen in love with this fabulous Mary Green (in addition to doing fabulous lingerie, she is also the designer of fabulous sleep masks and it wasn't until including today's chemise, that I realized that she created the very much so coveted Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired sleeping mask that you may have seen all over a number of websites - so on our list this year and a must when traveling) 1930's chemise which is available at Brooklyn Fox Lingerie! I love the ornate silk and lace garment which is perfect for lounging around the house on a weekend! You can also check out more items available at this fab boutique as in addition to lingerie, they have a number of swimwear brands, shapewear and more. This classic hue can be placed throughout your home just in time for the holiday as well as when this season is over.

Deck your trees, mantles and more with these fabulous Gold Sequin Ornaments which keep the holidays as accessorized as it should be thanks to the Land of Nod! Add more pop and texture to your window seat, bed, couch or favorite chair with this fabulous Donna Karan Glimmer Star pillow at Neiman Marcus. Place your petite gifts in these fab Champagne Frost Christmas Stockings at Neiman Marcus. Feel like royalty with Isabella Collection by Kathy Fielder in a Damask style at another of our fave retailers, Horchow. Adorn your walls with a Gold Antoinette Mirror at Neiman Marcus and after a day of enjoying the indoors in a luxe way, prepare your beverage of choice in Same Cristallerie Four Gold-Patterned Goblets Neiman Marcus.

Fashionable Fridays: Kimmie Picks ~ My Wishlist

So a few weeks ago one of my readers asked what was on my holliday wish list this year! With it being the last day of November and us heading into the last month of the year (can you believe it) - I had to give you a peek on a few items that I will be looking for under our tree this year. As you know, I'm always about accessories and having something fun to put on! So since this year has been quite a year to make for a great 2013, I am definitely looking for Santa to bring a few things my way that will come in handy! As many of you know I'm OBSESSED with Balenciaga from their city bags in various sizes to their cosmetic cases. I love them in a number of hues but this rose golden bag is perfect no matter what coast I'm on or what season! When it comes to rocking something fabulous and decadent, I think back to one of my favorite jewelry brands, Konstantino - I adore this blue topaz. When it comes to natural stones, I love this agate cuff from YSL which is perfect for casual days or my power meetings when I'm going over design concepts or an upcoming event that I am hosting.

Of course, I wear many hats so in addition to being an Accessories Expert, the founder of this site and other items - I am also the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Shoe Week and having too many shoes is never a bad thing! I adore peep toe heels, over the knee boots and sandals (AND I have a thing for flip flops - Havaianas of course)! I'm fortunate that my work allows me to travel all over so I'm always buying summer clothing even when temperatures here in NYC are much colder! These K Jacques sandals are so fun as I love that there is the shocking pop of patent leather color and then calf hair - perfect for my kaftans and maxi dresses which are a tropical must! When it's time to go glam or to dress up my jeggings, I'm always a fan of anything by Giuseppe Zanotti - especially with these amber suede heels! Finally it's all about over the knee boots - Casadei is a must to have in my closet from peep toes and beyond!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Tote It

It's been a crazy few weeks and now we can start thinking about all of the holiday traveling that we will get ready to do as we end the year! Sometimes when I travel casually, having a simple duffel from Herschel is perfect to bring all of your items with you as you head home to friends and family. Make sure that all of your makeup and skincare come with you via this Anya Hindmarch which is very roomy! One of my favorite skincare items to have with me which also works when applying my makeup is Beauty Blender. This sponge makes sure that your foundation is evenly applied so you don't have hard edges. You may be used to this in the pink color; however, they created Pure, which is a white sponge that is for sensitive skin. Instead of the cleansing fluid for the pink sponge, there is Solid that cleanses it with a fabulous lavender scent. Finally, it can be stored within this container which allows it to air dry and is super travel friendly.

For those rocking contacts, Brahmin has a contact case which is a great way to transport them in amazing hues. My jewelry comes with me and as many rolls as I need to bring them is never an issue - loving these by Neiman Marcus. Finally, it's all about keeping your lingerie safe as they shouldn't mingle with everything else in your bag. Natori (which makes a fragrance that is included in this set as well as a series of lotions) is a great way to transport them!

It's time to ensure that you are fall/winter ready! We have some of our favorite things put together including this fabulous duffle bag which is perfect for traveling for him via Coach. All his essential toiletries are able to come along with this Victorinox cosmetic case. Stay warm with this Paul Smith shearling hat and this scarf from Aloha Rag! The added benefit is that everything that he's rocking - you can too when he's not wearing it!

Snazzy Sundays ~ A New Day

As we're barely in the month of November, there are so many things that are going on. Here on the East Coast we work harder to get back to our lives with the aftermath of Sandy from getting back to our schedules, reconnecting with people and pushing forward. We're days away from the election, days from the holidays, just reset our clocks an hour back and just having that sense that the calendar year is about to flip to 2013. It's a lot of change and whether you're overwhelmed or excitedly forging ahead, there is a sense of getting in the mindset to move forward!

For me, my job requires that I do a bit of traveling generally a few days here and there and I have to have everything I need nearby and to make it functional so that I am not lugging an insane amount of items. I have been obsessed with fabulous luggage from weekenders, rolly bags and garment bags! With the sense that I am going to go into these last few weeks determined to do some shake ups of my own, today's post is based on this vibrantly yellow Cantarelli bag. It makes me think of travel whether I am on HSN, designing a line, doing a press trip or actually getting a much needed getaway! There is something about yellow that is powerful and subtle. With the need to push forward, I find that when I get focused in one area it spills into everything. So changing it up within my decor to continue my inspiration, yellow can be infused within my bathroom with Home Source International towels. In the kitchen there are a number of ways to pop in yellow just to freshen things up with Spoonula sets from Rachael Ray, a cast iron pot from Staub, a tea and/or coffee set from Bed Bath and Beyond and fabulous bowls from BIA Cordon Bleu. When it comes to entertaining and bringing friends over, keep it fun with these ice duck trays from Lekue and keep them cold by placing them in this Bodum bucket with ice pincher!

Trendy Thursdays ~ This Holiday Season

We have now moved into one of my favorite times of years, the holiday season and although NYC has definitely been going through some changes with the weather - it's great that we're getting back to normal. With that said, I enjoyed celebrating my sister's birthday last night as she is a Halloween baby and now with the first of November being here, I am so excited for a number of goodies that will be included within Kitten Lounge. Today as we try to get through the end of this week, I ask for your input! You know we cover beauty each Thursday but what would you like to see as I was just reminded that we were 55 days away from Christmas so that means each Thursday needs to count! Vote in our poll so we can get a good idea of what you want to look stunning this holiday season!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Never Travel Without

When it comes to traveling at a moments notice, I have become the queen! I love that in my lingerie bags I travel with necessities as when I land, I hit the ground running between segments, swinging my brands and styling a client all while having my must haves tucked in my carry on! I am a believe that when packing, you need to know that you have some basics. The other evening, I went to Pamela Pekerman's Accessorize for Wellness which showed all the musts haves that we need to be fit and look great whether we're at the gym or simply running around with friends! She shared Yummie Tummie with us! As you know Yummie Tummie was founded by Heather Thompson who is currently on Bravo's Real Housewives of NY! She has such a cute personality and interestingly enough, when I was on HSN back in March I had a quick second to chat with her as Robert Verdi was on with his sunglass line, I went on next as the spokesperson for Sebago and then Heather was on chatting up Yummie Tummie. I always love seeing Robert outside of Fashion Week madness and Heather is every bit as gorge as you would suspect). I can say that I have been a fan of her shapewear for years and love the tank and pantie that was gifted! When I do segments, it's nice to know that you're always looking amazing and that whatever you've nibbled is not peaking out on camera!

When I'm not on camera or fitting into a very slim dress, I also love having my Commando underwear. These ensure that you don't have lines which is always pesky and not cute by any means! I'm also obsessed with the depth of Hollywood Fashion Secrets which has a huge line from tape to keep yourself in place, silicone cover ups and more - there are no excuses for a wardrobe malfunction! Finally, Cynthia Rowley is back again with her fabulous collaboration with Band-Aid available at Birchbox! Just in time for summer, we all find that we may have had a little too much summer fun and at least this lets us heal quick with fun colors!

Together, all of this fits in my lingerie bags which ensures that I never forget them! Lola Haze is known for their lingerie line; however, I never travel without my bag as I like to place my lingerie as well as must haves in my luggage!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Packs Light

I love when it's time to travel (as you saw yesterday) and I love planning his outfit too. I love keeping it simple as you want to be able to access everything as well as to ensure that he's comfortable. I love these mustard stretch skinny jeans by Topman. Pair this up with a white tee by Vstr Visitor and is available on Swell. Let him slip into this Gucci leather drivers which are as comfortable as one can be on a flight and then hitting the ground running! With Tom Ford's sunglasses the look is nearly complete and a guy in aviators is never a bad thing!

Being a guy on the go, I'm all about protecting his iPad and interestingly enough, I make sure he has a number options. For this look, I love how he's rocking caramel and mustard tones so mobileexpressions by LuxMobile's textured iPad case is exclusively available at Target. They have you covered for a number of your most important tech items. He can slip this into his Obey Messenger bag which keeps everything stored and within hand reach!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Spa At Home

Spaing from home is always an option whether you just went to a spa or you can't make it there! As I am always traveling to do segments whether it's on HSN or an appearance. I have a series of must haves that are on my list that always make me feel very comfortable and make my skin look great! I've been a long time user of Koh Gen Do and their Cleansing Spa Water (when also used with their organic cotton pads, not only take off my makeup but also allow my face to be cleansed. There are some areas in the country that I travel to where sometimes the water dries my face so this cleanser is perfect! Once clean, moisurize with L'Occitane's moisturizer which always leaves a silky smooth feeling, When it comes to doing a little extra action on your face, I suggest H2O's Plus Sea Results Overnight Peel - this is a must as I like being camera ready and knowing that my face is at its optimum - it's perfect for overnight results.

When it comes to keeping everything trim, I definitely love Bliss' Perfect Bikini which ensures that you are swimsuit season ready! L'Occitane has a phenom Organic Shea Butter that is perfect for your body. When you have your go to items, being ready for everything even in a beauty sense is a must.

Mingling Mondays: NYFW FW2012/2013 ~ One on One With Dr Loretta

As you know, yesterday I went backstage at the Czar by Cesar Galindo runway show. While there, I had the chance to see the paraben free line, Dr Loretta in action. Today I actually sat with Dr Loretta to hear her tell me more about the products. First off, Age Change Eye (Next Generation Rejuvenator) is going to become one of my favorite items to use daily as well as to travel with! Coming in at .5 fl oz, this is definitely TSA approved. A few years ago, when people would describe a product as something that had 'age' within the title, I would shy away from using it as my skin is youthful and I didn't think that I needed it. But I have come to learn that along with using products that are designated for problems that you may have, you need to also perform preventative maintenance as well. I love how this gel feels cold and can be used under and around the eye. It's super soothing and calm. You can also use it on top of your foundation as it seeps in your skin.

Second, I'm in love with Tea-rrific (Antioxidant Mattifier) which is perfect to put on your face after you have cleaning it (morning and night) and right before you put moisturizer on. I love that once again, it's perfect to travel with as it is 1 fl oz. I also love that it soothes the skin and doesn't have a tacky feel on your face. It creates a nice illuminating glow to your skin - I noticed it immediately after use! Both products are perfect to use everyday and especially when you're running around and putting more stress on your face whether it's traveling, NYFW, doing a number of TV segments and more.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Hair Travel

I travel a lot and many times, when I land, by the time I get through customs, the airport etc I am scheduled to be somewhere with just a smidge of time to get in my room, unpack everything to perfection, hop into the shower and to get out of my travel clothes. I need my go to looks no matter what and to ensure that I look fab. Just like I have go to outfits, I love go to items that allow me to quickly get through getting ready while having many of the items that I use at home. Hair is much more then prepping it when you're about to head out the door. It's one of those items that you have to infuse (whatever your treatment routine is). I have to say that I love Ted Gibson as he has a phenom system of products that you can use whether you have been to his salon or haven't. I'm a huge fan of his shampoos which are perfect for whatever color you're rocking as there is one that is available for red heads, brunettes and blondes! In this particular Ted Gibson Travel Essential Kit, this is for the jetsetter who wants to ensure that the care you receive at home continues when you're out and about to wherever your destination will take you! It includes 2 oz travel sizes (TSA friendly) of daily cleanse ®, daily nourish®, beautiful hold® and 3 hairsheet styling® sheets. In addition to this kit, I'm loving that I recently became introduced to Shea Butter Curl Oils by Alaffia which is available in various textures and scents - this is perfect for those that rock waves and curls! Regardless of your texture, these oils hydrate and soften strands, strengthen hair and fight split ends, adds shine, improves scalp health and there are no harsh or heavy ingredients. This multipurpose solution allows you to put it directly on hair whether it is wet or dry and then you can also use it as a scalp conditioner which is always nice to do to ensure the health of your hair. Fine Hair can enjoy Shea Butter & Rosemary Shining Curl Oil, Thick Dry or Coarse Hair can use Shea Butter & Coconut Hydrating Curl Oil and Baby Curls/Chemically Treated Hair can have Shea Butter & Neem Nourishing Curl Oil.

In addition to nurturing your hair, like any look, hair loves to be accessorized. The trend over the past few seasons within 2011 has been a mix of boho chic style which allows hair to be loose and just do its own thing; however, ensuring that your hair is pulled away from your face whether it's a clip or ponytail is important too! I love the feather trend as it's an unexpected pop of something. I also love Dauphines of New York's the One Headband which can be worn with your hair down Grecian style or pulled back to allow that bun to have a new life! Whatever you do, your hair is the highlight and one of the first things that your eyes are drawn to - so definitely ensure that you have what you need.

Trendy Thursdays ~ My Travel Bag

Like many of you, my mind is in pre-New York Fashion Week mode. But prior to that, there are so many options that I have to think about and prep for. In a few days, I will be back in Tampa for my 3 appearances on HSN as Sebago's spokesperson. There are so many things that travel with me in terms of beauty and there are items that have to come along with me in my bag. Now many of these items are things that you can find in my bag everyday. To start with, I'm lusting after Lena Erziak's amaze grey Brad bag! I love that it has that great zipper detailing in the front with a large tassel. This would definitely be something that I would rock running in the city while also heading to JFK.

In my bag are some of my obsessions. I am a HUGE fan of Dior products (even prior to hosting an event at Bloomingdale's in conjunction with Dior Beauty) so my lashes are always primed with Dior Show Maximizer which goes on white and then dries. Then, I apply Dior Show Mascara as I love making them look larger than life. Recently, I fell in love with Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss (especially in Moi). The biggest thing that attracts me to the gloss in addition to the color is the applicator which is not a brush but a stick - I have even used it at shoots. Laura Geller's Baked Glow has been one of the things that I have loved for years and I have a few of her eyeshadows as well. So the idea of having it as a body frosting for those subtle hints of flair - amazing. Finally, it's always a good idea to ensure that you're shine free, I am a huge fan of Boscia's Green Tea Blotting Linens which are super slim! This is the perfect way to navigate any city and to have your beauty booty traveling with you at all times.

Fashionable Fridays: Event ~ Socialista NY UGG Terrace

My travel schedule is all over (not that it's because I write about travel directly but my work takes me all over between design projects, appearances and TV - it's a luxury to definitely be home in NYC) and even when I'm in the city I'm in brand meetings on top of the shoots with all the launches coming up this fall and holiday. So it's not often that I get to be out and about to have fun with people I don't see as often as I would like to! Amy, of Midtown Girl is also the founder of Socialista NY a group that allows fashion influencers and bloggers to come together and engage with one another. Amy's first event took place at the UGG Showroom in the Crown Building and did I mention that they have a fabulous wrap around terrace! This event allowed us to mingle, nibble on fab appetizers and enjoy sangria, margaritas and more. In addition, we all enjoyed getting manis and pedis via Spa Chicks on the Go. It definitely came at a fab time since I had a photoshoot the next day and even as the rain began to fall at the end of the night, we took the party inside! Throughout the night, I took a sneak peek at UGG's Fall 11 offerings. This brand is about much more then the pull on shearling boots that we're familiar with. I am obsessing over many of the handbags, jackets and stacked heels that are available. In a few days I will include info on their new launch since I am attending this in early August but know that it's super cute. It was definitely a fab event and one that definitely sets the tone for future Socialista NY events!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Post Beauty After the Shoot

Thanks for all the positive vibes guys for those that were wishing me well on my first major magazine shoot! It was so much fun to have my publicist and sister there in attendance, to introduce her to the phenomenal magazine that I am so excited to partner up with over the next year (you'll all find out in two weeks), to meet the brand that had pieces are completely swoon worthy as well as to work with a phenomenal makeup and photography team! It was so much fun and I loved getting up early to spend the morning and early afternoon there! I'll be back there next week to do an amazing video with them and then we wait to see what results when it arrives in the October Issue!

I love whether I'm on a shoot or doing something for HSN as I like seeing what the makeup artists use. It's fun to try something new and to get introduced to new brands that I would have never thought about using. But with all the touchups, lights and layers that I end up wearing I'm always happy to get home and do a major spa session! I talk about these products all the time but it's worth sharing again. When you have those moments that you had to be glammed up for an event, did a shoot, segment or even have been traveling all day these are the most necessary to use! I believe in spaing at home as well as at some of my favorite places! I have been using Clarisonic Mia for over a year but having Clarisonic Plus at my disposal is phenomenal. I love that one head can work for my face, and the other works for my body. With all the bronzer on my arms and chest it's nice to know that it's super clean as well as being taken off in a non abrasive way. I have used the gels that it comes with but you can also use your own faves which is great (you can also use exfoliating gels too). When it comes to my face - I do not travel without Lush's Ocean Salt which smells great and makes your face feel like it has never felt better! Of course I also use Ponds Wipes (thanks Carmindy) to start with taking off the main items on your face. Bliss Triple Oxygen is an amazing mask to use that also feels refreshing and of course, you can seal everything with Dior's Capture Totale Intensive Night Restorative which makes your skin feel like it did when you were a baby!

Trendy Thursdays: Event ~ Travel Scents With Sue Phillips

Last week I headed to the East Side in order to experience how one can travel without having to pack and doing so with fabulous fragrances. Most people know that I have recently embraced wearing perfumes daily over the past year and a half. I actually love hearing how they're created and what items I am drawn to. So when friend and beauty/travel writer, Charu of Butterfly Diary invited me, I was intrigued and excited that in addition to a few people that I knew, she had paired the event with travel writers (nice touch) as well as (sitting to my left) Susan Miller who is the founder of Astrology Zone and contributes to Elle Magazine as well. That was an added bonus right there!

This event was like a class setting and any of my readers who went to school with me knows that at heart, I'm that girl who takes a million notes and takes coursework super seriously (we had a questionnaire to fill out). Sue Phillips is renowned for her ability to create phenomenal scents and is the founder of Scenterprises. She led us on a "Scentsory Journey" on Bastille Day (which was perfect as France is the birth place of perfume). Although I am very familiar with the construction or composition of a fragrance (top, middle and base notes), I loved hearing about some of the more standard items within our favorite perfumes from origins to how they were created or have changed over time. We talked about some of my faves including Saffron and Bergamot while spritzing our blotters. This way we were able to create a constructed scent. I learned that I leaned towards florals (as did Susan Miller). I loved this classroom like setting as we enjoyed Hypnotiq's new Harmonie liqueur and nibbles. It was a fabulous night and one that we were really able to play and travel with scents.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Beauty Blues

I've got the Beauty Blues. Not the sad ones - the tranquil ones. Before I enjoy the hectic fun of St Patty's green, I'm relaxing post SXSW by doing a million conference calls and taking some personal time. I love the fact that EOS has just released their hand lotion (if you love their lip balm this is going to be a huge treat) which has all the calming effects that you can look for with oat, aloe, shea butter and Vitamin A and E. Continuing with the theme of rejuvenation after a long day of traveling H2O Sea Pure's Gentle Refining Polish has sea moss, fine grated bamboo extract and more to keep my skin glowing after all the parties and lights that I have been through. Continuing on with a nice bubble bath with Big Blue Bomb at Lush which has nice fizzies when you're getting ready for a fun night/weekend. Of course wrapping it up with a Gel Eye Mask in Blue of course - only when it has been in the freezer for a bit.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Wheels Up

Here lately I have been asked about my travel - what I wear, how do I stay chic and of course how comfortable is my look? There are times that I love to be a bit more casual when I travel if I know that I can change. But in an age where flights get delayed and schedules are moved up, I have no choice but to be ready for everything. Regardless of the temperatures, I am always in a flowing cardigan. It's easy and it's perfect for me to wrap myself up as the planes are super cold. A friend of mine told me that she loves the super long hoods as she can put it up and even block people out - I must try this as I get a lot of sleep on flights! I'm all about tank tops which make the look easy and when I'm going to a warm climate, I can just slip off the cardigan. I love traveling in boots - yes it's a pain at TSA but it looks fab and you can always pack up a pair of flip flops. Finally, it's always about the jewelry and I love this piece here which makes this casual outfit one with a little pop. Over the next few days you'll see some travel looks which are perfect to also wear for meetings, going out for drinks and so much more for your lifestyle.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Rock It

I live for super cute leggings and jeans - I literally wear them all the time. In the winter I'm all about wearing black and grey and mixing it in with hues of brown! With that said, I am officially obsessed with Report's Fairfax Over the Knee Boot which looks absolutely phenom (they are super comfy to wear and if you're like me and live for wearing simple looks, they definitely enhance the overall look in an instant - they are officially apart of my wardrobe)! I'm also a fan of the sweatshirt but like many of the items we may have loved wearing back in our collegiate days, why not update it tunic style and get something from James Perse? Finally, it's all about the fab leathers and we're loving this Jimmy Choo Babeth Tote which is two tones and works well with the boots as well as the Vintage Long Leather Coat from Free People! Together this is all about having a super comfortable look that is perfect for the weekends as well as any time that we are doing errands or having meetings that aren't exactly taking place in the board room! This is also the perfect way to travel as well as you begin to jetset for the spring.

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Daalarna

When I grew up, my weekends meant that I enjoyed watching CNN Style Watch each Saturday with Elsa Klensch (thanks Mariana Verkerk, Catwalk Queen who walked down memory lane with me) where she would show runway shows around the world. At an early age, I was mesmerized by the designs as well as seeing names that would become my early education in terms of fashion. When I travel, I love staying at some of the boutique hotels that have a designated fashion channel that shows many emerging as well as independent designers. I started blogging back in 2004 and when I started, what really got me excited about posting each day was talking about various fashion shows that happen all over the world. Back then, I wasn't even attending Fashion Week each season as I didn't have contacts but I loved seeing and introducing my readers to a number of designers that they may not have been aware of! Going forward we will bring you amazing shots from the runway each week. Much like we do during Fashion Week, you will see two fab looks from the show and we will pair pieces that would perfectly with them. This is also perfect as you will be introduced to shows that have recently taken place!

Before the end of last year, Hungarian designer, Benes Anita kicked off December showcasing amazing looks from her line Daalarna Design Studio at the Hotel Inter Continental of Budapest. I love the whimsy of the gowns which would be fab whether you are walking down the aisle or hitting the red carpet. I feel that when you have a dress that makes such a statement, sometimes it's nice to have one phenomenal piece. This dress is a mixture of modern vintage qualities, so why not pair it with a ring that has a nod to vintage sensibilities - I'm loving the ring by Armenta Heraldica. My favorite look from the show is the deep v neck draped top with the tap short. This would be perfect to wear while lounging in your Cabana in Vegas or in Miami while waiting for everyone so that you can hit some of your favorite lounges. The look can be completed with a cute clutch from Nancy Gonzalez and these super fab heels from Prada that add a bit of sexy pop to the entire outfit.
