Treasure Tuesdays: Events ~ Recovery Met Gala Brunch with Erin Walsh

This afternoon, I was off to Hundred Acres to have a fun brunch, see the unveiling of the Cadillac collaboration with Vogue productions and to hear stylist, Erin Walsh (who styled Kerry Washington and Greta Gerwig) who is not only in the video but shared her tips. This video follows how she works (this video when it ends will instantly start into the next video as it's 5 videos total), how she integrates Cadillac within her day to day and how it is to style the Met Ball which I posted on earlier today in terms of the red carpet arrivals! Enjoy seeing the video which is a great partnership within these three partners. In addition, I love that Erin's tips in terms of styling mirror my own - be comfortable this means that you should be able to walk in your shoes without an issue or to wear articles without pulling at them constantly, make sure to have the right under garments as this is an essential as lines are not pretty to look at and finally, don't underestimate good tailoring which will make you look your best! These are great rules to follow and it's understandable how Erin came across this career path during her days at Vogue to assist the Fashion Editor and then to branch off to create great looks for her clients!

As someone who grew up in the automotive industry, my parents were execs at General Motors, I truly loved seeing a new way to integrate their brand heritage and technology within a new vertical via the video, event and with Erin Walsh. Just last week I was running around Baltimore and DC doing segments for a number of local affiliates and it was great to be driven (it was not a Cadillac but a competitor's luxury car) in a luxury car in order to get everything done, to run errands and to tote a number of items that I had curated for each segment. Doing the mini road trip from NYC to Baltimore/DC reminded me of how important it is to enjoy modern luxuries and what it means to me.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Punk at The Met Gala

Fashion has many nights of note but when Vogue creates a party, everyone definitely comes dressed to the max! I'm loving that this year's Met theme - Punk: Chaos to Couture which launches the MOMA exxhibit within the same theme. Although many rocked it, there were some who definitely embraced it. My two faves of the night, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway. Roll over the images to see video of the arrivals last night as well as images! Whatever look you loved from the red carpet that hit NYC last night, you can purchase these items from Moda Operandi.

GET SARAH JESSICA PARKER'S LOOK

STYLE

Sarah is known for sticking to a theme and last night was not a disappointment by any stretch of the imagination. She rocked a headdress by Philip Treacy. Her stunning gown was by none other than Giles Deacon and paired it with knee high tartan plaid boots. She even came in with Vogue's, Hamish Bowles.

BEAUTY

Leslie Lopez for NARS Cosmetics had a simple beauty inspiration: “I had to make the punk look glamorous,” said Lopez about the look she created for Sarah Jessica Parker. To create strong eyes, we used a plum pencil that is both intense but beautiful. No matter what the theme, I always want Sarah Jessica to look beautiful, so we softened the intensity of the eyes with a light mouth – Tender Night Velvet Matte Lip Pencil was the perfect, modern, approach!"

GET ANNE HATHAWAY'S LOOK

STYLE

Anne Hathaway looked stunning and edgy in this vintage sheer Valentino which showed the perfect balance of skin, feathers and more! In addition, she had great styling elements in this all black ensemble with eclectic rings which added subtle pops as her hair was such a noticeable look between the cut and the hue a la Debbie Harry.

BEAUTY

Celebrity Stylist Sascha Breuer gave Anne Hathaway a strong punk yet glam hair look for the 2013 MET Ball. “Drawing inspiration from unforgettable punk icons like Poly Styrene from X-ray Spex and Joan Jett, I decided to go for a look that's glam, edgy and yet very youthful and fun. We kept the style much shorter for Anne and had a lot of fun playing around with it. To enhance her punk look further we decided to take her hair to the next level: A new cool Platinum blonde color and the sharp slightly boyish finish with loads of texture were the perfect match,” says Sascha Breuer. She used Wekka Professionals Extra Volume Mousse, Wella Professionals Bold Move and Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray.

Laura Mercier's makeup artist, Breuchaud gave a subtle nod to the event’s punk theme by creating a bold, “electric blue” smoky eye to complement Anne Hathaway’s flawless, porcelain skin.

FLAWLESS FACE: A flawless, “clean” face was the perfect canvas for the look

• Make up Artist, Adam Breuchaud first applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32), to give Hathaway’s skin an “even, lasting finish.”

• Then, he used a damp sponge to apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Porcelain ($43) to even out her skin tone and give the skin an “amazingly sheer veil of color.”

• Lastly, he lightly dusted on Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($22) to set the Tinted Moisturizer and ensure the skin kept its “dewy finish” throughout the night.

EYES: Breuchaud went with a “bold smoky” eye to pay homage to the “punk” theme

•First, Breuchaud mixed Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid ($24) with Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Deep Night ($23).

•In order to deepen the look, he applied Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Noir ($22) to her lash line and blended the eye liner throughout the corner of her eye using the Laura Mercier Corner Eye Colour Brush ($25).

•Breuchaud added the final touch of glamour by applying multiple coats of Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black ($24) to the top and bottom lashes.

LIPS: Fresh, natural lips complemented the dramatic eye

• Breuchaud applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26), which he described as a “beautiful soft pink” to Hathaway’s lips

Mingling Mondays: London 2012 Olympics & SS2012 Trends ~ Ryan Lochte

Team Kitten Lounge has been riveted to the Olympics! From fashionable history to great individual and team sports - what's not to like? Right before we watched the races that included Ryan Lochte Saturday night, I had the chance to watch a story surrounding him about his closet and his love for sneakers (can I also say that I love his accessories as well)! Above we had to show you a bit of his closet, his cover in June 2012's Vogue and his fabulous limited edition Colored Soles that he he created in collaboration with Speedo as he's definitely a style icon! Finally, I thought it was just me but yes that is Ryan rocking his diamond grill next to his Olympic Gold metal. Who knows what this upstate NYer will be up to post the games whether he models, creates a swimwear line or continues to design shoes! I love that he's not afraid to rock his personal style and I have to say that he has an open invitation to come to Shoe Week as we'll be rocking out at our Sneaker Concert event that would be right up his alley!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Met Ball 2012

Yesterday we swooned over Beyonce looking amazing in her dress at Vogue's Met Ball which was held Mon night! Today, we're all about how chic Tom Ford always looks and how although he rocked a fab accessory, Chanel Iman (she is perfectly accessorized), what else could he have included in his look?

I would have popped in a little red! I love Movado's Red Label Watch which blends well with cufflinks by Barneys which have the same theme as well as one of my favorite designers, David Yurrman. This signet ring with garnet is very classic and more importantly, eye catching!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Met Ball 2012

Arguably one of Anna Wintour's and Vogue's biggest night is the Met Ball (also known as the Oscar's for the East Coast). This is a night where everyone steps it up and although I loved a number of looks that hit yesterday's live streamed Red Carpet, I think without a doubt that Beyonce definitely had the best look! We know that Beyonce always stuns and this figure hugging dress is an accessory in and of itself and I'm loving the black to purple feathers! Check out more amazing appearances by visiting Vogue.com (if you want to continue looking at the fab dress from Beyonce from various angles, these pictures are courtesy of Young, Black and Fabulous)!

Mingling Mondays: SS 2012 Trends ~ Giulliana Rancic

Last week we gushed over Kris Jenner's white dress and here we go back in white! Maybe it's the fact that later on today we have the Met Ball (dubbed the Oscars of the East Coast by many will be live streamed and available on Amazon, Vogue and Metropolitan Museum of Art) where we know the fashions will be stunning (and this year you can see it streamed live) that we're even a little more excited today! Last week, Giulliana Rancic rocked this fabulous dress by Theia at E! Upfronts which looked phenomenal. As a huge fan of this media everyday girl gone glam, it's hard to suggest tweeks - but of course I am!

I'd definitely play up the blush love by adding in these amazing Casadei studded pumps. I would layer on pops of shimmer with Charriol (loving that one of these a Nordstrom exclusive) - together it's just enough bling which every girl loves! To add a little neutral, how about Nam Cho's eye popping ring with champagne diamonds? This amped up look is so G and one we're super excited aboout!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Giorgio Armani Pops of Color

I love looking back at shows that took place earlier in the month for future inspiration. It reminds me of when I was younger and I used to watch CNN's Style Watch to get fashion from around the world, then I was off to dance class and back home to look at Vogue yet again! Many know that I love black and white, when we move into the fall its colors that I embrace fully. This season, I am popping in some other colors to soften my palette if you happened to check my tumblr page a few days ago! I am loving Giorgio Armani's Prive Fall/Winter 2011/2012 recent show where there was nothing but black, white, fuschia and mandarin orange! I am a huge fan of Japanese inspired fashion and this definitely took center stage at the show! Of course I LOVE LOVE LOVE the clutches, headwear and cuffs that rocked out on the runway!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Carrie Goes Tech Stylishly

I headed to Lord & Taylor earlier this week to catch the new presentation on their 2nd floor! As many of you know, HP collaborated with Sex and the City 2 to create various laptops that these stylish ladies are seen using in the movie. And on Wed, Vogue and HP came together to present them to us! Definitely take some time to check it out as it is up for the next 2 weeks. With the swivel laptop on display and my personal fave the pocket laptop, it was a night of drinks and nibbles.

With Fashion Week being not so far away, I'd rather not lug my 17" HP laptop for yet another season as I blog live from the tents. But I would love to have the pocket laptop since it's totally portable and fits in my large bags and allows me to mobile and weight free! Vivienne Tam created the butterfly laptop which I have drooled over for awhile - who doesn't want to type away at the speed of light in their Jimmy Choos while looking super cute? Enjoy the fab pics from the night and think about your tech alternatives to keep you connected!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Checkin' in With Kimmie

Whether you catch me at an event, see me talking to someone on a show or you just happen to catch me out, you know that clearly I'm all about style. When I'm out and about, people will ask what made me think of Kitten Lounge back in 2007 and I always let them know that Kitten Lounge actually originated as an Internet show back in 2004 when it covered my favorite artists and blended my love of fashion but even that is not an accurate description so I thought it would be good to tell you how it came to be and why it is such a driving force for everything that I do. First off, hi - I'm Kimmie, the Editor in Chief of this site and although I'm not really into the whole "Letter from the Editor" setup, it's nice to understand who is bringing you all of this content and why it's all here!

I fell in love significantly twice when I was younger the first time was at the age of 3 when I remember looking through Vogue and loving gorgeous dresses that showed me that you could be a princess everyday. For those that know my love for accessories, only the big baubles caught my eye! I loved going with my mom to fabric stores where she would make items from Vogue patterns into reality and when she later opened a boutique of custom design clothing in Indianapolis, I was in love. My world opened up to gorgeous brides, sequins, shantung, gaberdines and more and I had an AMAZING closet. That love came from my mother.

My father gave me a second love - at the age of 5, he taught me how to use a computer. We had an Apple and I loved it (don't ask me why I have an HP now although I have to give it some love too even though I continue to dream about a Mac book haha). I loved playing games on it and wondered what would the possibilities of that machine be? Who knew that in college one of my majors would be Telecommunications with a focus in New Media? Leaving IU and coming to NYC, I began doing PR for independent music artists who were only available online and I assisted them in getting spins and getting them booked. Why not, my Great Uncle was Joe Henderson, tenor saxophonist with Blue Note, Verve, etc so it was in my blood and I loved it. But then again fashion kept pulling me back in.

Is it true that I modeled (yes lingerie/swimwear), had a fashion line and currently have my own jewelry line Kitten Couture, and also assist firms with their Social Media via my other company Sikara Designs Group - check it all. But is it true that Kitten Lounge has been around more than two years? Absolutely. It initially came on board in 2004 as an Internet Radio show that I hosted daily for an hour each day for 3 years. Then I played DJ's who had crazy mixes and then talked with indie artists about their personal style. I loved it but realized after I began blogging for another site that I wanted to talk about more than just accessories on that site and do more than just host a radio show. The Kitten Lounge became my place to talk about fashion, style, beauty, food, music and travel. I believed that as a whole person all of this was important to me and that I wasn't alone.

I realized that I'm around stylish and amazing people who they need advice on where to go or how to dress when they are not in the settings that tend to go to all the time. People have always gravitated towards the way I present things and what better way then to introduce my world of showrooms, designers, industry shakers and more to you! Where do I go from here? Because of Kitten Lounge, I have been able to attend Fashion Weeks, go to Project, Magic, see private presentations, launches of all kinds and more. But I truly loved it when I made the cross over to personality when I shot an episode of To Be a Star which comes out later this year. Sharing the importance of accessories, finding your signature look and ultimately branding yourself was so important to me and to the 6 aspiring models that I worked with to achieve it, I'm very proud that I could be apart of that experience.

It is my goal and vision to continue to push various themes that are not only keys to my success but are core mental investments: I feel that accessories are an essential way to set yourself apart and that in the vein of Audrey Hepburn, you can take great classic pieces and look amazing. In addition, you can be someone that crosses over into a lot of areas (hello - I run a style blog, have my own jewelry line, create Social Media strategies for fashion/entertainment firms and am a personality as well) and yet still make it truly your own. Finally and most importantly, Kitten Lounge is about community whether it's introducing you to my favorites that you may not be aware of, reaching out via Twitter (@cocoabebe) or checking in with such favorites as the Holiday Gift Guide which launches Nov 1st (I can't wait to share the fab giveaways that we'll have, those who will be in the guide and a list on who to keep an eye out for in terms of industry must knows for your business). The experiences that I have had and those that will come have come to pass as I'm always open to reaching out, learning and helping someone else. In doing so it has created friendship, trust and has allowed me to interact with groups that I would have never come across if I had done it alone. The power of collaborations and having good people as your checks and balances definitely come in handy when you're running 300 miles an hour - no you're not crazy, you just know that you can do 48 hours of work in a 24 hour cycle and still go out to grab drinks and have a little fun! I want to thank everyone that has made this brand successful and who has been with me in each phase of re-invention that I have been through and look forward to sharing a lot of AMAZING items that are coming up soon!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ The September Issue

We all know that the September issue is the most important one of the entire year. Even with ad sales being down by about a third, it's still very much so anticipated. This year, we have all been able to see a lot more of Ms Anna Wintour and this fall, there is a movie that goes behind the scenes and to the Editor in Chief herself to learn more about her and her vision for Vogue. This launches August 28th with a full release Sept 11th! Check our the trailer for The September Issue!

Snazzy Sundays: NYFW SS2009 ~ Tracy Reese Part I

The rain was definitely a factor yesterday but when I opened my eyes this morning, I was glad to see that the sky was clear and the sun was shining. With the third day of Fashion Week underway, I put on my dress and headed out for the first show of the day - Tracy Reese. I first learned about her pieces seriously when I worked as a manager at Anthropologie. I fell in love with her line full of super feminine pieces and as this was my first show of hers, my expectations were quite high and they were met as each model hit the runway. I love the accessories that she paired with this show and the color pallete was perfect. The show was like varying elements of the perfect garden party with soft blues, pink, tans and pops of green with amazing coral.  I think that the music that was used has to also be taken into consideration! I love that she had great whimsical music that was very loungy and then I heard Terrence Howard's new song! I wasn't sure but after getting it home, I realized that she included "Love Makes You Beautiful" - I knew that he was going to have an amazing song but it was absolutely perfect for this show. One of the final songs that was used was very upbeat and as the girls walked the runway at a slow pace, it was as if they were in slow motion and we were getting to see a little more of them since they never changed their pace. This show also included Andre Leon Talley (of Vogue fame, he is clearly seen in the third video to the left) and Ms J (many of you know of him from America's Next Top Model - is in all three videos as a cameo of sorts) as well. I was sitting across from them and included them in these video clips! Finally, for those that have never been in the tents, I wanted to let you see what goes on! Earlier this Fashion Week, you have been taken backstage (which I will have another show for your tomorrow) but in the tent itself all the photographers sit in one area and it's a little intimidating to see them all hanging out over there. In addition, the tent holds a lot of people - not only are people sitting but people stand anywhere they can to watch the show!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Coffee Table Reads

Vogue I love visiting others and seeing the books that they read. A bookshelf can be very welcoming in someone's home and is a way to understand someone that you know a little more. I love seeing interests that are beyond what I would have assumed from someone. Being well read is important and I am always intrigued to see what coffee table books are made available for the visitor. One of the books on my list this year is In Vogue which looks at the many looks that have made this magazine the icon that it is. This book looks at international looks and the photographers that captured them as well. With over 400 pages, there will be plenty of images to capture your attention. This a great gift for someone into photography, fashion or simply someone who loves being in the know. Available on Vivre.com this is a perfect way to add to your decor
