It's chilly out there and when it isn't chilly, the rain tries to keep you indoors. When this happens and I know I plan on getting work done, I love sipping tea throughout the day. I like to have the biggest cup possible and to sample various blends. No sugar is needed as I'm a fan of honey! When it comes to getting the perfect tea setup, make sure that you have some of your favorite cups, continue to buy various tea blends of interest, get a great tea pot and of course find some honey. These are items that will get you through chilly days and nights and this also makes a great gift for the holidays, housewarmings and more. Take some time to click around to have your cupboards stocked!
Yes the Noreaster has hit the east coast. How chilly was it yesterday. I have to get a lot of motivation going just to leave my house when it comes to going out for fun! One of the things that I hate about the winter is that I don't want to feel like I have to sacrifice my style for warmth! This winter I'm thinking of cute sweaters (those who know me know that I am not a fan of this portion of my wardrobe as a rule) but I do love American Eagle's Thermal Collar Shirt. I think this is perfect for staying warm and you can showcase a cute necklace! Juicy Couture's necklace is full of drama and it can peek out from your shirt. I'm a fan of boots and I'm obsessed with these thigh high Stella McCartney boots! Now when you're running around you're all set whether your hanging out with friends at an apartment, meeting up for lunch or whatever happens to you when you end up leaving your own home! Finally, you have to have the perfect skinny jean and this pair from Arden B is an essential for the weekend when you're going for a relaxed look. Take some time to think about how you'll dress on these chilly weekends!
Um I didn’t get the memo that we were going to have reasonable weather! The funny part is my winter coat has made an appearance already and we’re supposed to be in the fall. The good thing about this weather is that you can layer up and look appropriate when the weather is changing every second. When it comes to one of my favorite looks, I love the low neckline fitted sweater, paired with skinny jeans or a nice flair (you'll also want to make sure that you have various cuts and washes as this is a fun way to change up your look), ankle boots and of course – lots of accessories. As much as I love the over the knee boot, there is something to be said for wearing the little booties as well! This is such a great look when you’re at the office, going to Starbucks or doing whatever you need to do as you begin to tackle your Mon! Take some time to look at the pieces above and to begin to add them into your closet (note the cute lace tank that’s under this sweater) – such a sweet look and very chic!
When it gets super chilly, I'm not a fan of cold weather; however, I love outerwear for a few reasons. I love coats - if it has to be chilly then it's fun to wear them. Then there are times that you're running around all day and as opposed to your coat being a secondary, it's definitely a primary. The reality is that when you're running from place to place and shopping, you're coat becomes an essential. Recently, I found out about a line that is new to me, Mackage which makes coats for men (my boyfriend is obsessed with Bruce) and women. I love that this a-line coat has a cute neck embellishment. This would be perfect for me to run around to in showrooms, shopping and events. So to that end, it's essential that these looks become accessorized complete with over the knee booths (this is a must when I'm out and about and sometimes it's nice to have a flat boot as opposed to heels). Boots add a bit of an edge look but also a little Paris chic as well. The fingerless gloves are a nice way to add a bit of a rocker chic but when paired with the coat and shoes it's a look that looks like it was super easy to put together and effortless. Finally, it's all about the bag! I'm all about wearing dark colors in the winter but there has to be something which has a pop of color whether it's a scarf or a bag and to me, the bag is essential. This red croc bag is the perfect way to standout and to beat the blahs and greys that can take place once we've been in this weather pattern for too long.
Oh man! I’m beginning and ending my summer with a bang! We’re kicking it off with a Lobster Broil at the house and we will end the summer with a big bash – my 30th birthday in South Beach at my favorite hotel, Loews! Oh yes this is going to be an amazing summer (I’ll totally bypass the fact that we have had quite a bit of rain). So with that said, how do I dress for a party that’s at home with friends that begins early and goes to the wee hours of the morning? I’m all about the maxi dress – it’s stylish and comfortable and gives you so many possibilities whether you go with bold colors, stripes, etc. I love this dress and it’s available at Victoria’s Secret (another one of my favorites for day wear). With this bold color and simple look, I’m able to add my accessories to really let me stand out as the hostess of the party.
With the high neck, I love a simple choker, such as Christofle's 925 piece available on Vivre, that doesn’t fight with my look and yet doesn’t make my neck look completely naked. I love Max & Chloe's large cuff and this hammered one is perfect to add a bit of the earthy vibe and of course the ring – you know I love a pop of color! Elizabeth Ngo's Large Ornate Victorian Glass Ring in Turquoise adds a mixture of various eras from Victorian, Grecian, etc.The maxi is the way to go and you can find one that’s perfect for you in various price points. A lobster broil in Long Island and the love of the beach, this is a great way for me to show all of that with this simple look!
Oh please let today mean that there will be no cold dips in weather! Today was really toasty and it made you want to get out on your balcony to have dinner! I love fusion restaurants so why not have a fusion table setting? Add an element of a tropical vibe (love the leaf place mats) with something of an Asian vibe with amazing plates and we all know that appetizers are an essential to nibble on while we wait for dinner. With a few drinks on the menu (or just some wine), you're all set!
When the weather begins to transition, you see a lot of fun blazers, jackets, swing coats etc make an appearance. Since it becomes to warm to a winter coat and not quite warm enough to go without something - you have to think creatively on how to stay in sync with the temperature. I love the swing coat from Spiegel's with a cropped look a long sleeve (not a fan of cropped jackets with a 3/4 sleeve although I have two). This is a great way to go from day to night with many of these looks and to add some pop to your denim and leggings as well!
You guys, it's snowing outside! The weather is crazy and if you're in NYC, it's supposed to be sunny and in the 60's! With all the back and forth that's going on, I seriously need to get to the summer. Since we still have a few weeks of inconsistency to go through, I'll just dreams of shorts, capris and super cute rompers! My favorite look is the Larsen Gray Belted Romper - the turquoise color is amazing and of course, you can never go wrong with a few items from Victoria's Secret as well.
I don't know about where you were, but here in NY it was amazing today! This is one of those days that makes you forget about just how bad the weather can be! It was nice to walk around and to truly enjoy the weather. With the condo search on in Brooklyn for Paul and I, we have definitely begun thinking about the importance of ensuring that we have an amazing deck and/or rooftop. With that in mind, I wanted to get you thinking about great components that you can add to your deck whether they're oil pots, seating or a shade that allows you to continue to enjoy your surroundings in the heat of the day! Have fun and continue to think about what your space can look like with a few ideas!
There's nothing like running inbetween raindrops in NYC on a Friday no less. This weekend is supposed to be a promising weekend! Not only do both of the new baseball stadiums open but it's the weekend and the idea of sleeping in, brunch and more is enough to make even the rainiest day seem not so bad. Still, you have to be in the weather and why not dress it up. I'm all about Hunter Boots and these are available at J Crew which is very convenient!
They're stylish on their own but seeing that I love to accessorize, why not consider getting Hunter fleece liners? These are a great way to add in a pop of color and of course they serve the functional purpose of keeping your feet dry and warm! Finally, the umbrella doesn't need to be drab. This black and white Juicy Couture umbrella is compact and has a matching bag as well.
Take some time to check out some great finds and wherever you're heading today, at least we're closer to summer. On rainy days, I tend to search the internet more and we have two giveaways - Sex and the City inspired pantiesby Cosabella are being given away next Tues (with the sequel coming next summer I's excited) and we are also giving away on Mon - tickets to the Clearasil event for a new Dance Crew which will take place at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square - so much fun if you're addicted to the MTV version of the show as I am!
Oh the weather is really frigid and even the simplest task takes on new meaning when you realize that you have to go outside. The good thing about this weather is that you'll find amazing pieces that will keep you cozy. Inhabit (I love that this is an amazing brand that I was able to wear during Fashion Week) is having an amazing Cashmere Sample Sale. You'll find great pieces that fit you to a tee (mens items are $100 within this sale and $80 for women)! I also love that they have an amazing collection that will pair well with your new finds. As I head out to Orlando today to enjoy great weather for the rest of the week, I will be very mindful of the great items that I will need to get to make it through this season! Of course this sale will go through today and ends tomorrow!!!
FIrst, this picture is courtesy of DSW. For those of you that have their emails, you saw this this morning! If you're like me, you got a little giddy thinking about how amazing it would be to have this weather now (for those of us that are battling insane chills). It was such a great spread that I had to include it within today's post! Take a look at what the trends are and think about how they can be brought into your look. With all the sales that are going on, we've enjoyed boosting our winter wardobes; however, we need to remember the spring/summer as well. To all those that are going on vacation to warmer climates, take me with you! Check out amazing finds at DSW!
This weekend is going to be hot and when it's hot - you have to get nibbles and beverages! Think back to previous weekends - maybe you grabbed icecream in the park, had brunch at an outdoor cafe or you enjoyed a back patio with friends. You have to change it up a bit by making sure you head out to the Big Apple BBQ sponsored by Snapple this weekend! I am so excited as The Kitten Lounge will be attending this event! I can't wait to tell you guys some of the hottest places in the city to enjoy BBQ and what cities are definitely bringing it too! Now if you want more than BBQ, you will enjoy yummie sides, dessert and beer! In addition to hanging out in Madison Park with tons of people that will be your jolly new friends, there will be live music and seminars. When you check in this weekend on the Kitten Lounge, I will bring you recaps of what you can enjoy as I will be there on Sat and Sun will have closing thoughts on this 10th annual event. In addition, my Flip will be coming with me as well. To check out the schedule and to see what works for you, make sure you visit their snazzy site! If you were fortunate enough to get your Fast Pass - congrats, I can't wait to try all the amazing items. If not, everything is reasonably priced and waiting - come on an empty stomach and remember to drinks lots of fluids! The inconsistent weather of this week will be worth it to enjoy the sun and heat of the weekend.
I woke up this morning and after all the stress that has been going on last week, I actually woke up and felt relief! So I have a Flip and have had it since the holidays and have never really used it. Now I am all about using it and decided I would wake up and take this amazing view of the city from the Jersey City side in Newport Pavonia. What a great way to start the day! With the amazing weather, we spent it visiting condos (yeah) and then getting acquainted with the neighborhood and finding tasty places to eat! Who doesn't love a long weekend and one that happens to fall on the Memorial Weekend? Enjoy my shaky footage and happy Sunday everyone!
Happy Mother's Day! There are so many ways to spend it whether it's at one of your favorite restaurants, going to a broadway show or in the comfort of your own home - you're bound to find a way to make it special. If you do have it at home and you have amazing weather, you'll want to make sure that you have it on your patio, roofdeck or whatever open space is nearby! When I look at these Water Hyacinth Pillows from West Elm, I think of all the ways that you can make your outdoor space cozy! Not only that, but Mother's Day makes me think of summer being around the corner with all of the amazing holidays that emerge. I love the idea of making your outdoor space taking on more of a natural look by making an oasis of sorts right outside. Somehow you can always make the island just at your fingertips, why not start off with making Mother's Day the kickoff to this event! Take some time to check out all of the items that are available from West Elm for everything inside and outside of your home as well!
So this weekend was one of those gorgeous times where you wanted to do everything outside! Even when the sun went down, you still felt the need to enjoy every last little drop. My boyfriend and I took a lot of walks (except for yesterday because I wasn't dressed for the chilly temperatures). But it got me to thinking that a great way to have a great time with your sig other, friends, etc is to take a walk around the city. I used to say that wherever you go in the city it's like stepping into a completely different area. Wlthough you may not have available funds or the time for a vacation, being in the city is like a mini one. So when I found a site that looks at the 2 year quest of a man who walked every street in NYC - I was impressed. New York City Walk follows the journey of a man via pics - pics that you may recognize and those that you may not. Although most of us will not do this, I think it is a great idea to say - this weekend we are going to head to the Village, browse some shops, have a few snacks/drinks and then grab dinner. It's a great way to learn more about the city and also a great way to spend time with someone else as well.
When the weather is amazing, there are no excuses to stay indoors! It's all about having a good time with friends and trying something out. You can always go somewhere to try something and then on to the next if you like. Felice Wine Bar is located on 65th and Lex and is an Italian Rustic wine bar that is definitely one that would be interesting to go to after a day at Bloomies or some of your other favorite stores in the Upper East Side. I definitely love the rustic vibe and I think it's fun to go somewhere where you intended to only stay for drinks and ended up staying well into the night. Fortunately for you, they also have an amazing menu which only guarantees that you will have a very long but full night!
This weekend, I spent time with my boyfriend lounging and chatting. I love how you can enjoy a great time with some drinks and a lot of laughter. This is the kind of weather that will make you want to be outside as much as possible. So when you do this, you'll find that you'll want to keep topping yourself with great finds. The Hudson Hotel (this is apart of the Morgans Hotel Group) has an amazing area that looks like your very own private park where you can enjoy nature, drinks and a fabulous setting. This is perfect for after work drinks, planning a birthday party and much more. With all the work that we do, it's nice to live in a luxurious way and of course it makes the weekends run by fast!
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
