Mingling Mondays ~ Meet Carmindy (Celebrity MUA & TLC's What Not to Wear)

Every time she accomplishes something, you can see that she has added another gold Ippolita bangle to her wrist! I love accessory obsessions that keep you moving forward!
Her guilty pleasure - Tasti D-Lite!
Carmndy loves Grilled Cheese Sandwiches at The Red Light in Miami
Her restaurants are as global as the locations that she visits! Carmindy loves the grilled fresh octopus, Greek salad and local wine that is found at Dimitris on Ammoudi Bay in Oia Santorini Greece!
Carmindy, Make Up Artist, star on TLC's What Not To Wear

One of the most down to earth people that I have met who works in the industry is Carmindy! If you watch TLC's What Not to Wear, you know that for the past 9 years, she has been bringing out the inner beauty that has already existed within her clients. Beyond that she has been a make up artist on a variety of shoots and continues to share her love of natural beauty. As you know, a few weeks ago, Carmindy was apart of a Ponds Beauty event at the Columbus Hotel. I always enjoy being able to sit and chat with her; therefore, I thought she would be perfect to include on our Mingling Mondays of Influencers!

I love that Carmindy loves food as much as I do! Why just have one favorite spot when you can go all over the globe. Above you can check out her fave place in Santorini (have always wanted to go there) as well as in Miami (I can never go enough) but when she's here in NYC, she loves L'Artusi and anything on the menu is fair game when it comes to a fab meal here! While we maintain some of her locations that we're bound to catch her, when she finally comes up for a little air, you'll find her and her boyfriend vacationing in Croatia this summer - so cute! She's also love to spend time in New Zealand, Nepal and Sri Lanka. When you're traveling all over, her personal love of dressing in modern greek goddess/siren dresses means that you're light on packing and always ready for whatever the day will take you! I also love love love this trend as well.

When you're this busy and hopping to be on set, various locations as well as appearances, it's a no brainer that her iPhone is a must to keep her connected when she's jetsetting; however, she wishes that it had better international plans. Her fave app is The Lose it App which ensures that she stays on track with her diet.

With all of her travels and interests, I wanted to know what the biggest take away is for Carmindy due to her work on What Not to Wear. She said that, "helping women feel beautiful starts with getting to see themselves with fresh eyes not just slapping makeup on them. It's so much deeper than that." I think that that is such a positive boost and one that we should all think about when we're out and about each day. I also love that her love of beauty is being incorporated into another goal (which very well could result in an Ippolita gold bangle) where she hopes to start her own line of nutracosmetics like Borba with her Carmindy twist! That's a line that I would love to see!

Trendy Thursdays: Event Style ~ Carmindy & Ponds

Tuesday, I headed to the Columbus Hotel to hear about new products that were added to Ponds. We're familiar from the brand in terms of the creams but Carmindy, from TLC's "What Not to Wear" reminded us that it was something that she remembered her grandmother using as she had fabulous skin! Carmindy is all about natural beauty and although she walked us through a phenomenal series of looks that were perfect for the summer and not so weighty, she also highlighted Ponds wipes as an essential component to clean your face when you're not into washing it with your fave skincare as well as when you're in places that don't have water!

With me heading to HSN later on today to be on air on Fri (2am and 7am) as well as Sat (6am), I can say that with all the makeup that gives me the natural look on camera, it's quite a bit to wash down the drain! The wipes allow me to create a clean slate so that I can get some fabulous shut eye! We were introduced to Morning Refresh Towletttes with microbeads to polish away dullness. In addition it has citrus and cucumber scents which definitely revitalizes the skin as well as being perfect for the morning. At night, you can choose Evening Soother which cleans away traces of dirt and makeup - even with waterproof mascara. This contains Chamomile and White Tea! Of course, I love that they travel well and they are in resealable packets as well - they are my new must to ensure that I have no excuse for laziness!

Mingling Mondays ~ Don't Be Tardy for the Party

Yes I am a Real Housewives junkie and I actually liked the song. If you think about songs to get ready to before going out, this definitely works and believe me, we all have some songs that some people would question. That being said, it's Memorial Weekend (Tote Bag Winners will have their items sent out this week) this week - where did the time go and we're that much closer to consistently gorgeous weather! So that means that we should be getting ready on all levels. First up, internally. After visiting Glowelle's Blogger Event with TLC's Carmindy from "What Not to Wear" at the Robert Verdi Luxe Lab, I decided that I would glam up my nutrition. Yes, I have been enjoying target="new">Glowelle for quite some time (almost as long as they have been around) but I have been placing it in my water and going. Now that I have days where I begin from home, there is no excuse to not jazz it up! In that light, I am making smoothies all week as I fell in love with the ones that they made last week! Not only will it make me feel better but my skin will also enjoy this as well! Check out our Thurs post where we will have more information about this brand!

I'm also getting files in order as this is the season when my clients approach me to style them on a dime so I'm beautifying my space if you will to make it easier. Part of this is enjoying our deck. We have two and above you'll hear my plans in general as this is the headquarters for not only Kitten Lounge but The Style Pod as well. I want to try my hand at growing flowers, getting new furniture and we are buying a new grill which is an essential around here. No matter what your space looks like, see what you can do to make it more inviting not only for others but for yourself as well!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Ted Gibson's Individual Beauty

We're not carbon copies and most people don't have someone trailing behind them everyday putting their look together although the option is out there. We're people who live our lives and want to look like we spent a million years on ourselves when it was only a fraction of that time! Enter Ted Gibson, Celebrity Stylist - I remember receiving his products as samples and really getting to know the brand at a Total Beauty Blogger Suite for New York Fashion Week of Sept 2008. I loved the packaging and even today, he's everywhere - What Not To Wear, in Sephora, just came off of HSN this week (so bummed that I was unable to attend his event at his Salon but it's been a busy week - although he launched an extension collection) and of course he has his salon. He is the hair stylist to the stars and yet he has amazing affordable products that allow his sense of style to find its way into our bathrooms! Ted just came out with Individual Color Shampoos and Conditioners that work for brunettes, red heads and blondes. I loved that natural glitter in them and love the brown hue (obviously). Washing your hair and being able to get a little of the color infused in it for a fab rich brown with shimmer is amazing!

In addition, we all have those days when we're not heading to the salon but our has lost its muchiness (Alice in Wonderland) so having Ted Gibson's Styling Hair Sheets brings your hair back from the beyond! It's quick, clean and no fuss! Once again it's all about having the resources that make your hair get into fighting shape when for some reason you don't find Ted hanging out in your studio waiting to prep you!

In honor of the release of Sex and the City 2, in theatres May 27th, stylist to the stars and hair guru on TLC’s “What Not to Wear” Ted Gibson is offering for a limited time a SATC Salon Blow out Party! What an amazing way for those in NYC and DC to get a chance to feel the luxury that the fabulous 4 have represented to us over the years! This special is great for a group of 4 or more to get discounted blowout service from the hair salon known for having the most expensive haircut for $950. When booking the party, make sure you say “Sex and the City” to get these perks:

  • FREE glass of champagne
  • 15% off Blowouts for each guest of the party
  • Discount on the ted gibson hair sheet styling from $14.99 to $10.00
  • Dates: May 14th – 29th

Fashionable Fridays: Pink & Black Tie Gala

It's GORGEOUS out in NY and I already have my cocktail plans for tonight and yet I'm not quite sure about lunch! But what I do know is that I am super excited that with May on the way, one of my biggest events this summer is the American Cancer Society's Pink & Black Tie Gala which will be held at Steinner Studios in Brooklyn. I love that it supports an amazing cause and many people in the fashion, music and entertainment communities are coming together to raise funds for the continual support and research of a plethora of diseases that have affected people. Now, I am excited that I will be donating a new lariat necklace from my line, Kitten Couture (pictures to follow in another post) and that my friend and Brooklyn resident, Crystal Horton, will be supplying cookies from Tasty Morsels Bakery for the goodie bag - which is definitely a treat!

In addition, there are additional auctions such as a swim clinic with Michael Phelps, a Vespa and a Private Customized Tour for Six at the Bronx Zoo. These are just some of the items that have been updated recently and people  continue to support whether they are including something to be auctioned or something that will be in one of the many goodie bags. Stacy London of What Not to Wear will be hosting and the entire event will feature local entertainment as well. I love that this Pink and Black theme will be amazing to see in person! I can't wait to see how people incorporate these colors into their color schemes and tickets are still available for this event at $250 - you'll enjoy an amazing dinner, meeting others who are committed to the cause and of course it's a night of dancing as well. I will cover the event and continue to share information with you in addition to Twittering live from the event as well!

Mingling Mondays: Pink & Black For a Cause

On May 7th, Brooklyn will have a huge event that I am very excited about! The American Cancer Society will put on a gala to increase the awareness of cancer. This star studded event will be hosted by TLC's "What Not To Wear", Stacy London! In addition, the attire is pink and black! I think that this will be a fashionable event and one with a very strong message - all efforts will go towards raising funds for cancer research, education/adcovacy programs and services for cancer patients and their families. This event will have silent auctions (Kitten Couture, my jewelry line will have a piece created exclusively for this event), along with many others. If you're a designer and are interested in including your items, please contact me so that I can get you in touch with the amazing organizers of the ACS! In addition, there will be goodie bags and Crystal Horton, Brooklyn based cookie baker will include Tasty Morsels Bakery items which is very exciting.

On May 7th at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios the "Brooklyn Rocks" theme will include music, fashion and so much more. If you're interested in tickets, make sure that you visit the site so that you can be apart of the Pink and Black Tie Gala. Kitten Lounge is committed to keeping you up to date on what's going on as we will continue to provide additional information and to cover the event as well so definitely check back with us as well!
