The first weekend of summer (and half day Fridays for many of my Kittens) starts this weekend - hello Memorial Weekend and all the plans that that entails! This is when you have to have your go to swimwear at the ready as you never know what the summer will entail whether it's boarding the Jitney, getting pumped for Hamptons weekends, swinging down to Miami or rocking it on your terrace right here in the city! Roll over the above images to see what's on my style radar which is filled with bathing suits full of color (you can't say swim and not think Norma Kamali, snake print wedges by Alice + Olivia, a fun tote from Rachel Roy x FEED, Ten Thousand Things, Lagos and Roberto Coin. Find out why I'm loving these pieces and how they can be included within a number of looks.
Last night, the Billboard Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. As always, it's a star studded event - I'll continue to keep you in the loop on looks of ABC's Stana Katic (Castle) and Hayden Panettiere (Nashville) wore for music's big night! Roll over the above images to see who these ladies wore.
It's been a super busy week and sometimes it's awesome when a rainy day takes place on a weekend, especially on a Sunday! This way you can stay in and relax or get work done depending on what's going on. Today's shoes are inspired by the weather. These Chooka shoes which are moc style and are at least perfect for keeping your feet from getting rained on. Sometimes you don't want to rock a full boot especially as the weather gets warmer. These shoes' color inspired items that are perfect for being added into your decor for your living and baking spaces.
As many of you know, I was on air yesterday morning on FOX Baltimore where I talked about 10 Accessories Summer Musts. It was quite a day as the day before I was in DC and then popped into Baltimore to do the segment and then ended back home in NYC sipping wine at the Gansevoort Park Rooftop. Some have been asking about the Georgetown portion of the trip (deets coming on Fri with a full on focus of the Fairmont Hotels), my style for the segment so that they can stock up their closets (coming soon I promise) and others asked what was I wearing for my accessories. Roll over the images to learn more about what I rocked and how you can get it too!
As many of you know, since I travel a lot, I'm all about a number of reality shows. One of my faves happens to be Bravo's Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Kyle Richards, is my favorite housewife within that show. I think I'm such a fan of hers as her sense of style is close to mine. I love her boho chic goes classic style, as an Accessories Expert I appreciate how she is always well accessorized AND I love that we have a number of outfits that are the same (and no I didn't buy them after the show aired). I got the opportunity to do a little Q&A with her about her role within the March of Dimes campaign, her personal style and what we can expect to see next!
-What does your involvement of the March of Dimes 75th Anniversary and their annual IMBORNTO campaign mean to you and how did you get an interest as well as become involved within it?
As a mother of four children, I can't think of anything more important than having a healthy baby. I've always admired the work that March of Dimes does, so I was proud and honored to be partnering with them for their IMBORNTO campaign.
I'm always impressed with your sense of style as I find that in in a number of episodes, we actually have a number of the same items in our closets - how did you begin to define your sense of style?
It changes from day to day depending on my mood. I always joke that I'm half rockstar, half librarian. I can go from bohemian, to classic to edgy, depending on the day, but I always have to be comfortable.
What are your accessories staples that you can't get enough of wearing?
Earrings and sunglasses
How do you balance your busy life between your hubby, 4 daughters, additional family members, filming the show and running your boutique?
I sleep very little these days. I wake up very early and have learned to manage my time better. It's always back to back, all day long with no breaks. But as a woman, I'm a good multi-tasker.
What have you learned about the fashion business that you didn't know about since opening your store?
How far in advance we buy the clothes in the store. It doesn't match up with the weather and you're not always in the mood, but that's the way it works. Also, so many boutiques in Beverly Hills don't carry enough variety of sizes. My store carries a wide variety of sizes that caters from teens to older woman and I've learned that people really appreciate that.
Will you ever launch your own clothing or accessories line?
I'll keep you posted on that :-)
I'm obsessed with Linea Pelle as I have loved them since 2008 when they dressed me for my first coverage of New York Fashion Week! It continued on with just seeing the heritage of this leather brand as it is used in bracelets, belts and handbags! Last year, we did a fun Style Tweetup with them to kick off New York Fashion Week as well as our Shoe Week events and it was so much fun (check out the event from last year). Andrew Cotton, the VP and Creative Director of Linea Pelle tweeted with us in LA as we checked out the line in NYC! Well yesterday, we did it again and this time, Andrew was in NYC and we were able to meet him, see the line and just hang out! Roll over the images above to get tidbits, see video and more to learn about this fun event!
Today's weather has been crazy - how can we get so much rain and then the sun has attempted to peek out every now and then! Regardless, carrying an umbrella means that you're arm candy has to be that much cuter since we can see your wrists peeking out. I've become a huge fan of Story Bracelets as I love the leather, texture and the fact that they can be stacked together, worn with other faves or alone! I also love that they have a number of charms that you can put on them to make them your own (my personal faves: Harlequin Drop and the Faith, Hope and Love charm).

This afternoon, I was off to Hundred Acres to have a fun brunch, see the unveiling of the Cadillac collaboration with Vogue productions and to hear stylist, Erin Walsh (who styled Kerry Washington and Greta Gerwig) who is not only in the video but shared her tips. This video follows how she works (this video when it ends will instantly start into the next video as it's 5 videos total), how she integrates Cadillac within her day to day and how it is to style the Met Ball which I posted on earlier today in terms of the red carpet arrivals! Enjoy seeing the video which is a great partnership within these three partners. In addition, I love that Erin's tips in terms of styling mirror my own - be comfortable this means that you should be able to walk in your shoes without an issue or to wear articles without pulling at them constantly, make sure to have the right under garments as this is an essential as lines are not pretty to look at and finally, don't underestimate good tailoring which will make you look your best! These are great rules to follow and it's understandable how Erin came across this career path during her days at Vogue to assist the Fashion Editor and then to branch off to create great looks for her clients!
As someone who grew up in the automotive industry, my parents were execs at General Motors, I truly loved seeing a new way to integrate their brand heritage and technology within a new vertical via the video, event and with Erin Walsh. Just last week I was running around Baltimore and DC doing segments for a number of local affiliates and it was great to be driven (it was not a Cadillac but a competitor's luxury car) in a luxury car in order to get everything done, to run errands and to tote a number of items that I had curated for each segment. Doing the mini road trip from NYC to Baltimore/DC reminded me of how important it is to enjoy modern luxuries and what it means to me.
Fashion has many nights of note but when Vogue creates a party, everyone definitely comes dressed to the max! I'm loving that this year's Met theme - Punk: Chaos to Couture which launches the MOMA exxhibit within the same theme. Although many rocked it, there were some who definitely embraced it. My two faves of the night, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway. Roll over the images to see video of the arrivals last night as well as images! Whatever look you loved from the red carpet that hit NYC last night, you can purchase these items from Moda Operandi.
GET SARAH JESSICA PARKER'S LOOK
STYLE
Sarah is known for sticking to a theme and last night was not a disappointment by any stretch of the imagination. She rocked a headdress by Philip Treacy. Her stunning gown was by none other than Giles Deacon and paired it with knee high tartan plaid boots. She even came in with Vogue's, Hamish Bowles.
BEAUTY
Leslie Lopez for NARS Cosmetics had a simple beauty inspiration: “I had to make the punk look glamorous,” said Lopez about the look she created for Sarah Jessica Parker. To create strong eyes, we used a plum pencil that is both intense but beautiful. No matter what the theme, I always want Sarah Jessica to look beautiful, so we softened the intensity of the eyes with a light mouth – Tender Night Velvet Matte Lip Pencil was the perfect, modern, approach!"
GET ANNE HATHAWAY'S LOOK
STYLE
Anne Hathaway looked stunning and edgy in this vintage sheer Valentino which showed the perfect balance of skin, feathers and more! In addition, she had great styling elements in this all black ensemble with eclectic rings which added subtle pops as her hair was such a noticeable look between the cut and the hue a la Debbie Harry.
BEAUTY
Celebrity Stylist Sascha Breuer gave Anne Hathaway a strong punk yet glam hair look for the 2013 MET Ball. “Drawing inspiration from unforgettable punk icons like Poly Styrene from X-ray Spex and Joan Jett, I decided to go for a look that's glam, edgy and yet very youthful and fun. We kept the style much shorter for Anne and had a lot of fun playing around with it. To enhance her punk look further we decided to take her hair to the next level: A new cool Platinum blonde color and the sharp slightly boyish finish with loads of texture were the perfect match,” says Sascha Breuer. She used Wekka Professionals Extra Volume Mousse, Wella Professionals Bold Move and Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray.
Laura Mercier's makeup artist, Breuchaud gave a subtle nod to the event’s punk theme by creating a bold, “electric blue” smoky eye to complement Anne Hathaway’s flawless, porcelain skin.
FLAWLESS FACE: A flawless, “clean” face was the perfect canvas for the look
• Make up Artist, Adam Breuchaud first applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32), to give Hathaway’s skin an “even, lasting finish.”
• Then, he used a damp sponge to apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Porcelain ($43) to even out her skin tone and give the skin an “amazingly sheer veil of color.”
• Lastly, he lightly dusted on Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($22) to set the Tinted Moisturizer and ensure the skin kept its “dewy finish” throughout the night.
EYES: Breuchaud went with a “bold smoky” eye to pay homage to the “punk” theme
•First, Breuchaud mixed Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid ($24) with Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Deep Night ($23).
•In order to deepen the look, he applied Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Noir ($22) to her lash line and blended the eye liner throughout the corner of her eye using the Laura Mercier Corner Eye Colour Brush ($25).
•Breuchaud added the final touch of glamour by applying multiple coats of Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black ($24) to the top and bottom lashes.
LIPS: Fresh, natural lips complemented the dramatic eye
• Breuchaud applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26), which he described as a “beautiful soft pink” to Hathaway’s lips

This was quite a weekend whether you were enjoying Margaritas with your chips and salsa OR you were tuned into the Derby and going to a number of parties - festivities were to be had no matter where you were! The 139th running of the Kentucky Derby took place on Sat at Churchill Downs and of course, people stepped out in style! Roll over the above images to check out who wore what and to see some of my faves!
Tomorrow is Melanoma Monday and you can support this cause by rocking orange to ensure that people know that they must properly protect their skin from harmful rays that are much stronger then they have been for centuries! Since orange is the color of the day, we're showing how you can also include it within your rooftop decor! Roll over the above images so that you can see how you can include this within your rooftop spaces which is perfect for a party, lunch and more. In addition, good suncare means taking care of your skin, this Neutrogena Body Mist Sunscreen is an essential to take with you as wearing a spray can feel easier to apply then to put it on as a cream.
Whether you're a mom, you're gifting your mom or you have a mother figure that is in your life, Mother's Day is May 12th (yes next Sunday)! I have picked a number of items that are a must within this season's Glossi including Linea Pelle, Blee Inara, Pura Vida, Curvy Couture, Beautiful Bottoms, Brooklyn Fox, Sholdit, BesoBeso by Luka, The Body Shop, Southern Hospitality, Ellie and Chan Luu.
I am not a stockings girl to be honest unless there is a chill in the air as it's something that I remember my mom telling me when I was younger! Thanks to Hanes sending me a variety of legwear, I selected a pair that was a tonal hue as I wanted my black dress to pop. Hanes has definitely expanded their offerings within their collection as they have footless legwear, convertible legwear (such a smart idea for those who would rather have a legging option), texture, designs and more! In addition to tights being a great look option, there are amazing hidden benefits including - creating a slimming look, keeping dresses down that would tend to ride up if they didn't have something to rub against to stay down as well as to lengthen your look. Regardless of whether you use them all the time or not, it's always good to have these classic staples at the ready in your closet just in case and the fact that they're under $6, it's an easy item to have on hand! Roll over the above images to see what I'm wearing and why I love it!
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
It's been a crazy week and with the weekend being hours away, here's a little accessories inspiration via Ghurka which is a great leather goods line that is peeking behind the seams to showcase the hand craftsmanship. As an Accessories Expert, I'm all about the details and being able to tell the story of the brand which this video shares so well. You know that when I designed my line with Sebago for my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection, I kept talking about the process, the leather, the craftsmanship etc so it's always a joy to share other brands that also believe in these components when they make their goods.
Happy May as you read this I'm doing my final preps! Today, I will be at WJAL on ABC 7/Channel 8 talking in DC at 11am on Let's Talk Live on about Hot Mom style and accessories as Mother's Day is right around the corner and then I will be off to ABC 2 The List in Baltimore to talk everything summer from fab moms to what to wear this season. So while I'm off doing that, enjoy some of my face wrap bracelets and watches which I'll be talking about and/or wearing today by rolling over the above images including Michael Kors, Linea Pelle, Coach and La Mer Collections.
It's all about rocking fun hues and I love playing with a neutral palette and popping in a vibrant hue. Grey/white and grey/cream is a fave of mine without a doubt! In today's look, this is definitely a fun look to wear when I'm running errands, meeting with brands and need something fun to put on for an unexpected date night. Roll over the images to see how this Iro biker jacket, DAY Birger et Mikkelsen top and J Brand leather leggings are accessorized by this fabulous Carnelian ring at Macy's, Annette Ferdinandsen's Botswana Agate, McQ by Alexander McQueen and handbag by Alexander Wang.
It's one of those weeks where it's going to be really busy! For those of you in DC and in Baltimore, I will be on air on your local ABC affiliates chatting it up! It's always great to be out and about in a different market. When I travel it's about comfort but also being able to hit the ground running. Roll over the above images and find out why I'm obsessed with this easy look that's perfect to wear when you have a million in one things to do. In terms of apparel, the Valerj Pobega top and Plein Sud Jeans. I'm loving the neutral color palette as well as the fun accessories that complete this look including Sergio Rossi, YSL, 3.1 Phillip Lim, CC Skye, Joomi Lim and Victoria Beckham.
Interesting factoid about me, I don't like roses as a flower. So, Paul doesn't give me an arrangement of roses - but that doesn't mean that I don't like roses! In fact, I love it in my lip gloss, my toners, skincare and so much more. Last week, while I was in Philly, Paul went to Lush and got a number of bath products that smelled like roses. It was such an amazing aroma and of course when I began to think about this week's Shoe Sundays - I thought of rose/mauve hued shoes. The inspiration comes from Jill Stuart.
Roll over the above images to see why this would be great to include within your decor. Items have been curated from Horchow, Crate & Barrel, Voluspa and Kartell.
I think that every well rounded closet needs a day dress! There's something about a fitted bodice that then has a fun full skirt (if there are pockets, it's even better). This is something that can be worn in the day whether it's to work, meetings, a wedding, brunch etc and then goes into night as well. This Preen Line color blocked dress in cobalt and black is a great addition to your collection. Because this is such a classic look, the accessories that you pair with it can go in a number of directions. Roll over the above images so that you can see how I have styled the look in an edgy way including - Nancy Gonzalez, Marni, Givenchy, Rachel Zoe, Jack Vartanian.
As an Accessories Expert, I know a thing or two about accessories and obviously, I have my statements that I love wearing that are definitely noticeable when I'm walking around. But in many ways, beauty products can be an accessory too and they are definitely essentials! Roll over the above images to check out why I'm obsessed with Urban Decay, Palmers, Dior, Shobha, Butter London and Dove! Of course of special note is my nearly life long obsession with Crest (yes even before I became a brand ambassador - I started as a Crest Baby thanks to my mom)! Find out why I'm a fan of their Crest 3D White Whitestrips and this Sunday (04.28.2013), you'll find a $7 coupon in your local newspaper that will allow you to use it on this great product that I have used for years! Now you get the chance to start using this too! I'm giving away a box of this with a winner announced on May 1st! Roll over the images to find out how you can enter to win!

Even though we're weeks away from consistently warm weather, fashion continues on with what's currently available within our favorite boutiques, what's being rocked on the runways as well as what's being worked on within design teams all over the world. Fall 2013 accessories have been showcased and of course I had to share what some of my faves are for the upcoming season when we're back in layers again! Check out key accessories in a number of categories from shoes (for men and women) and handbags. Check out some of my faves including Alberto Moretti, Attilio Giusti Leombruni, Bottega Veneta, Brian Atwood and Gucci for their current Spring collections as well as checking our friends at WWD for the Fall previews.
I am such a fan of Moroccan items from food, beauty items, design and more! It's a major influence within my boho chic meets classic style mixed together! Roll over the above images to see why I'm obsessed with the above beauty items including Moroccan Oil, Nest Fragrances, Ren and Giorgio Armani. Of course, these items are inspired by accessories that I'm loving and since this is apart of my styling aesthetic, I'm super excited to share some of my faves including - Ugg and Paloma Picasso's fabulous ring available at Tiffany & Co

This post is definitely one that I love sharing as an Accessories Expert and the Co-Founder/Creative Director of Shoe Week! Kinky Boots is a musical that hit Broadway and focuses on shoes! When a son inherits his father's show factory which is heading for bankruptcy and yet he still wants to maintain the legacy of the business, inspiration has to strike somewhere. It's found in an entertainer that needs phenomenal and sturdy stilettos! Together the two work together to turn the business around and to learn an ultimate lesson about people truly working together and not focusing on perceptions of one another! Of course, this show is all about fab music, dancing and more in this brand new musical! Friday, the windows for Kinky Boots debuted at Lord & Taylor and yesterday, there were in store performances by Cyndi Lauper, Harvey Fierstein as well as the rest of the cast from Kinky Boots! Check out some images and of course I had to pop by the windows to see it for myself!
