Yesterday I escaped from NY on the last plane to head to Tampa, FL in order to be here in time for my segments on HSN as Sebago's spokesperson. My thoughts are definitely back home as I hope everyone survived and continues to hold it down while the storm passes. If I were home, I'd stay inside and wouldn't even think about leaving. I would think about how I could work out a room that we have yet to think about in Paul and I's 2 bedroom apartment. The second room is a bit of a catch all of sort. Is it a guestroom, going to stay an office or could it be a drawing room? The possibilities go on and there is no reason why we can't just mix the 3 ideas into one. I like the idea of having this boudoir theme that serves so many functions whether someone is staying over, Paul is working on something or we just want to move into another space!
Today, I'm inspired by Lola Haze which has this Victorianesque dark elements that are sensual which is seen throughout her collection and especially in the Embrace Cami and Short! You know that I am a fan of nudes highlighted by black when it comes to color. This black/nude or black/blush combo is perfect whether you're decorating to your own taste or want to bring two gender's aesthetic together via color. I am loving the use of the colors within the furniture, accents such as knobs available at Anthropologie which is a great way to add a personal touch in a small and yet large way. Fun pillows, mirrors, footstools and more make everything on a completely different level while providing you aesthetic zen.
I love rocking large shades whether I'm in the tents of Fashion Week, running around the city or wherever there's a need to hide from the sun! With so many fab brands, it's never a problem to rock chic lines. Above is a collection of glasses that I love (beyond the ones that many have you seen me in as I'm a huge fan of Marc Jacobs). In addition to a lot of choices, Sunglass Hut is running a fun contest called "Full Time Fabulous" where you can win the opportunity to win the ultimate dream job as a jet-setting style blogger for SunglassHut.com. So my past few weekends have been spent looking at condos in Hoboken. In the beginning it was very exciting and now I must say that you reach a point where you get a little desensitized to many of the features that you later learn are standard with the place that you are looking at! With that being said, looking at these crisp and modern places makes me want to decorate all over it! I have learned that my bf is fascinated (read obsessed) with ceiling heights and I am all about storage whether it is closets, shelving or bringing in containers. So as he looks for yet another amazing space, I tend to visit sites like Ikea to find these super cute Spice Containers. I love a contemporary/modern look and I love knowing that I can see what spice I am actually about to use. So it seems that we may be closer than ever in terms of getting a great place! I can't wait to share with you guys all the items that I plan on getting from Crate & Barrel, Ikea, Target and so much more!
Before you start wondering where the Citrus is in this post, let me explain. I really do enjoy the Sunday segments of the Kitten Lounge since they are always home oriented and for a girl that is prepping to move in May - this allows me to help you guys out with great ideas, while establishing my own list of what it is that I need. Now, I haven't decided my color schemes for my apartment especially since the apartment itself is not fully established either (details details); however, I know many of the main pieces that I definitely want.
Recently, I received CB2's (the sister store to Crate and Barrel) catalog. By the way, if you thought that the whole THINK CITRUS concept was great here, you have to visit the store, go online or look in the catalog. They definitely have focused on citrus which is a lot of fun. ANYWAY - this bed is apart of their Indie Collection and I love the open platform style of this bed while having the poster option - very Victorian. This definitely makes me think of having a cute bungalow in Bermuda or something like that with long whispy drapes. Now you can add citrus here too and this is definitely for those that are a little shy when it comes to bold colors. Think about your bedroom having a nice mocha or cream motif and popping in some citrus hued beaded pillows or those cute candy rolls. You can even have the matching side tables and have a little vase that is in this eye popping color as well. Whether you embrace the color trend completely or simply let it peek in every now and then, you'd be surprised how much it changes the look and feel of everything. If you're looking for new pieces - this is quickly becoming one of my favorite shops!
There are times when you want to lounge around your apartment and then maybe slip on jeans and a zippie to pick something up so that you can go back home. It may be the weekend or just some day in the week when you needed to take time for yourself! I say that this can be done in this super cute cami set by one of my favorite lingerie labels - Belabumbum! Yes we are in the final days of THINK CITRUS and fortunately, there are designers out there who are infusing this fragrant scent into their lines. I love the Garden Floral cami set and as sweet as it is, the citrus vibe is a welcoming look since it blends so well. I think this outfit puts you in the state of mind to relax and to ensure that you are properly being taken care of. Make sure you check out all the amazing finds on this site and when done - you'll want to order some great items that will make sure that your closet and drawers continue to look amazing and renewed.
My entire department is not decked out in Ikea; however, there are certain elements that I am a fan of. This table top with legs isapart o f the Vika collection. My favorite element of this table top is the clear glass! This so essential for me as a designer when I am tracing. I can place light under the glass and trace my items easily. There is a bit of a ledge across the top that you can use to keep your utensils and other instruments in their place and still accessible! This table is perfect since it can remain flat;moreover, you can also tilt and adjust this as necessary. Growing up, I had a drafting table and this is something that could come in handy for architects and designers alike. The wooden legs are perfect for extra storage as well. What a great way to add this in to your home office!
I don't have one of these right now but it is SO on my list. My iPod and I are never far away from one another - I'm sure you guys are the same. I love coming up with my playlists and enjoy listening to it at home. A gift for myself this holiday season will by the iHome which is available at Brookstone. I love that it has a remote control so that I can sit anywhere in the room and flip just as easily through my tunes as I would if I had my iPod in my hands. I love that it can sit within the tiny speakers and not take up too much room. In addition, I'll never be without the time and it has an alarm - perfect. Oh yes, as I am beginning to pack up and think of ways to make my apartment look snazzy, this is one of the items that is definitely on my list! Get this for yourself or as a great gift for someone else!
