Today is going to be a crazy day but in the midst of doing some work online, I had to work with some images that I had taken during a previous trip to South Beach a few years ago. I took amazing colors that I had taken in all of their vibrancy and changed them into Black and White and Sepia images. What an interesting touch it made! Not only will my project (which is soon to be unveiled) look amazing but I can now use this throughout my home to create a nice aged look! The actual cost, nothing but of course you can get interesting picture frames and now you have amazing art within your home! Take some time to look at some of your pictures and see what you can do and how you can take segments which add warmth to your abode.
Today we checked out a new sport that is gaining interest, Beach Tennis. I have to say that I have never seen anything like it but I love the fact that this is going on during the US Open and that they set up a nice area where you could watch in the main venue space and people could try out on the side courts. It's definitely interesting and when looking at the sponsors, Sport New York was also covering it so that must mean it's gaining public notice.
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was kicked off last night with Diesel at the Raleigh Hotel's Pool Deck and of course, I had to share my favorite look from that night! I love the colors and think that this is definitely a swimsuit that would turn heads wherever you are! Of course I am a huge fan of side ties as well. A lot of the shows will go on tonight so I can't wait to share some of my favorite looks! You can also see all of the swimwear (they had a cute set for the kiddies) in photos and as a video by visiting Mercedes Benz' Fashion Week site!
One weekend my boyfriend and I went out to a really good sushi restaurant in Long Beach and I happened to order a plum wine. I did it because it sounded really good and as much as I love Sake, I wasn't really interested in having it. I loved how sweet and smooth it was! Later on that weekend when we made dinner, we bought Sake and Plum Wine, intending to have it together as a Bonsai. We ended up just drinking the Plum Wine and more specifically, we had selected Fu-Ki Plum. Now I am truly hooked on plum wine and although I have had it with Sake, I prefer to drink it alone. The other weekend we went to Sushi House in Hoboken and I had their Plum Wine - so it is confirmed that this is something that I do enjoy having even when I'm not eating it with sushi or fish. It is absolutely refreshing and I think that it works well with all seasons which is very important as well. I look forward to trying the different kinds and seeing the ways that it can be mixed together.
I love that you can travel anytime but there is something about the summer that makes it a lot more fun and feels like so much more of a necessity! When it comes to toting your items on the beach, putting your cosmetics together - there is only one designer that I can think of that I enjoy taking with me - Stephanie Johnson! I love that she knows how to take functional pieces, make them a collection and then create a lot of fun patterns and prints. The Seychelles Collection is a light and blue pattern with seahorses. If you love this collection! You'll be glad to know that you can get it at 20% off from now until July 6th! In addition to this collection, you can enjoy the Harbour Island and Waikiki Collections as well at this discount. Nothing is better than getting an increased closet and a lot of love when you head out for the various travels that are ahead!
When I was in South Beach, I fell in love with ceviche. This is a style of food that is Latin American food that typically has lime juices, chopped vegetables and more. It is refreshing and perfect to have with cocktails and wine. Well there is a place in Midtown East that has focused on this style of food! Crave Ceviche Bar brings SoBe to Manhattan and is refreshing! Earlier this year due to a crane accident, various shoppes and restaurants were affected and closed temporarily. Now that we are in half day Fridays, this is a great place to visit and to support as it has a great clean and minimalistic look and is perfect to go out with friends to relax. Take some time to check out their restaurant and visit their site to see what ceviche is all about.

One of my favorite places to buy from is American Apparel! I love the idea that many of their pieces allow you to wear items in a few ways so that you can have your own look! That being said, every now and then, I like to visit their site to what is coming out soon. Take a look at this High Waisted Jersey Skirt. I love that this is so cute with the shirt that they paired with it, tanks and so much more. This is definitely cute for work or to attend an event!
Now here is this High Waisted Jersey Skirt worn as a halter dress with a cute short skirt portion on the bottom! This is so something that I would wear during Fourth of July, the Hamptons and so many more places. Put on your Grecian flip flops and you're set for shopping, brunch and so many more events in the city. How can you not love when one piece can have at least two options and you can only imagine how many colors this will come in as well! Take a look at this site and see what else you'll pick up online or in a store near you.
I was looking at Pottery Barn this morning and began thinking of my favorite thing when it comes to the concept of LAGOON - beach houses, summer shares or wherever you go when you get away from the city for a little R&R. This super cute daybed sits on top of this platform which can either be purchased with drawers or these baskets. You may sleep in something like this when you go to your weekend shares OR if you have a studio and want to maximize space, you may have this set up to give a little Bungalow Chic to your place! Either way, this set up is so refreshing and chic and is perfect for sleeping in or lounging no matter when you use it. Take some time to check out more items on Pottery Barn and find out what other infusions of Spring and Summer are available to you!
When I think about Fashion Week - I love that it continues no matter where you are! Today, we highlight in this Trendy Thursday segment, Joeffer Caoc's Toronto Fashion Week Show. Initially, I came across this fab designer while checking out today's Coutorture recap of this portion of the runway Fashion Week. For the purpose of this post, I wanted to introduce a designer that was new to me and that I definitely wanted to let you guys know about. I love this outfit I think that in terms of the top - I love that it is a one shoulder and has a bit of that Grecian vibe which is very femme and exotic. I also love that it is paired with a pair of cuffed shorts which is so South Beach! I think this is a nice addition to the concept of THINK CITRUS! Check out more of Joeffer Caoc on his site and see the amazing pieces from his collection.
The best part of fashion is the fact that you can rock your Carlos by Carlos Santana heels, with your Hudson Jeans and touching it off with a super cute wooded clutch from Ports 1961. Then you can top if off with this super cute Bohemian Hanky Cami available at Wet Seal for the whopping price of $16! It's nice to know that fashion can be worn in a variety of ways and comes in various price points as well. I am all about the Bohemian lifestyle. I love these cute tops and the fact that it's cream and brown with pops of orange. I am so getting this top and love the idea that this is the obvious choice to take with me to South Beach, Vegas, Meat Packing District and you're local sidewalk cafe or garden/patio drinking spot. Check out more great looks that are available at Wet Seal.
Now that we're heading into the whole winter, it makes me think about half day Fridays, Hampton summer shares and quick weekends somewhere in the sun! With that in mind, I turn to my favorite thoughts - bathing suits. I am a huge fan of Tyler Rose Swimwear. I have a few suits and I love how sexy you look when you wear these suits. There is no way that you can go unnoticed when you wear this - your inner dive definitely comes out in these suits! You can't go wrong when it comes to black and white and I LOVE the bandeau. This is perfect for moments in the Hamptons or South Beach. The Casablanca Suit makes me think of the large straw brim hat with a nice black bow (yes I do wear this when I'm out on the beach), espadrilles and of course large sunglasses. I love the idea of bringing back a bit of that old Hollywood glamour which is perfect no matter where you go. With all the ties and mini keyhole this is absolutely a must to have in your collection!
Growing up, I was sad when I had to take my favorite summer pieces and fold them away to make way for all that was winter. I felt ludy Rudy from the Cosby show when she really wants to wear this plaid dress, but the weather has turned and her mother refuses to let her wear it. I always liked that episode. But now, have you noticed how people can still by spring/summer pieces year around AND you don't get crazy looks. I also love the fact that when it starts to get seriously cold, the topic of conversation in the office turns to February getaways in the islands! With that said, we need to have constant access to summer wear. If you don't feel like shopping in stores and want something with a little flavor, try these fun designs by Echo Designs that they carry coverups, shorts and much more. This is perfect for laying out, long nights dancing and the moments of purchasing amazing finds in little boutiques. Take a peek at what's here and remember that as you build your closet for this season, you can always purchase for the next or a future location. My favorite piece is the second from the right. I love that this is perfect for South Beach (my favorite place). It can start out as a great late afternoon cocktail dress and lead right into the perfect night for dancing as well. I love the pops of color and the design as well which ensures that you'll have an amazing time no matter when you wear this.
