I love that the New Year continues to cycle through as you have New Year's Eve, Ukranian New Years and additional ones that allow all of us to kick off the year with a fresh start and renewed senses. This year, Jan 23rd is Chinese New Year! I have been told that Chinese New Year or the Lunar year spans a number of days and in that light, today and tomorrow we honor this holiday on Kitten Lounge! This year is known as the year of the Dragon and today's beauty post focuses on all beauty products that have that dragon tie in. Some were named to be included within the holiday and to acknowledge it and others include the name and work well with this post simply based on the theme!
Around Kitten Lounge, I have fallen in love with Gianna Rose Atelier Soaps which has year of the dragon soaps in fragrants scents that incorporate a blend of Green Tea, Ginger and Bergamot. This box contains four soaps within in and I love that it is unisex as Paul has embraced these soaps as well! Cartier's Le Baison Du Dragon has a fab ornate bottle that incorporates this theme and as you're running around the streets and ensuring that your face is flawless, Sephora and Hello Kitty present a compact mirror in gold that honors 2012's Year of the Dragon. We always think about our guys when it comes to Jack Black which keeps his lips moist with this Dragon Ice and I love that it pulls double duty as the scents are just as fab for women!
When you live with your significant other, you find out many things about him and one of the things that I found out about Paul was that he LOVES my beauty product - moreso the skincare obviously. I'm always getting items and can tell when he has begun to use them as well. I would have thought that he would have left many of my masks, exfoliants, moisturizers etc alone and gone for the items that are branded as a men's item; however, that couldn't be farther from the truth! In fact, if I use the product, he is more prone to want to use it as well. Above are a few items that have either arrived or on their way to reaching me that is bound to be a hit with myself as well as Paul!
I am a huge believer in a fresh face and one that looks as young as possible. I have been blessed with amazing genetics and look much younger then the age that I am super proud of being but I don't fall back on my genetic code solely, I help it along by amazing product. I am super intrigued by Glam Glow as any product that tingles while it works is always something nice for tired skin when I am in between meetings, tapings and so much more. I'm bound to love this as it has volcanic rock, french sea clay and green tea leaf pieces! This is a fun product to apply him to be sure. I have been a long time fan on L'Occitane and this Cocoa Shea Butter from their Limited Edition line definitely did not disappoint. I love that the coverage is not greasy but you definitely feel that you're skin is getting a decadent feel and being moisturized beyond typical lotions. He loves the scent which is always nice and yet another reason why he will attempt to try it as well.
I am obsessed with Caswell Massey from their soaps, cucumber slices etc so when RoseWater arrived the other week, I was beyond giddy. I am a huge believer in its healing properties and it feels so soothing as you can use it as a toner, refresher, etc! It leaves a nice light scent which is one that he can appreciate and you may be able to get him to try some from time to time!
When it comes to showering or bathtub time I have two favorites that I definitely want to try. Tokyo Milk's Nest Egg Bubble Bath seems like a fab product as we begin heading into the spring and want to rejuvenate our skin. I fell in love with this brand from the packaging as I loved the whole Apothecary meets Anthropologie vibe so this is a brand I definitely want to share more about from its various perfumes, candles, cosmetics, lotions, etc. Finally, Byredo Parfums has a line which has lotions, fragrances and shower gel under the title - Gypsy Water. I'm intrigued by the shower gel as I love changing it up every now and then. I love the image of this gypsy/boho woman that is the inspiration behind the scent and the fact that Bergamot an Juniper Berries are apart of this scent is even more alluring! It's yet another item that would be of interest to him to try when he hops in the shower.
With Thanksgiving behind us, the holiday season is in full swing! I'm thinking of parties, impromptu gatherings, gifting and so much more. I am obsessed with ornaments! Not only because they make your trees yours and they also let people know more about you and what you're trying to say (the inner visual merchandiser in me gets excited with all the possibilities), but I love that they can point you in the right direction for items for the home or gifting others - you never know where it will strike! So throughout the holiday season we will take an ornament and see where the inspiration goes within that theme!
In my opinion, you can't talk ornaments without stopping or at least peeking at Anthropologie. I worked here once upon a time ago as a Home Manager at the Rockefeller location here in NYC and I loved looking at them and seeing people walk through our holiday shop. So I kick off this series with a fig which is so fragrant and is a fab hue. This made me think of candles which Juliska's Fig and Bergamot (one of my fave scents as well as tastes) is perfect to keep within your home or to gift to your Secret Santa at work! When it comes to those dinners you're hosting, Emile Henry has fig dinnerware that allows you to have that berry color that is perfect for the holiday and extends beyond this season for a bit of warmth and works well into any Moroccan motif that you may be weaving in your home. I love pops of detail and once again, this is perfect for gifting! This coaster is available at Design Public and is a perfect detail to add while maintaining the safety of your surfaces. Finally, I love these napkins from Sur La Table as it brings figs to life and is perfect for kitchen messes that you will encounter as you make batches of phenom cookies!
Last post, I talked about my Crest Dinner with Katie Cassidy. But earlier that day, I watched a video shoot of the Naked Bartender and hung out with my girl Aly where we both shot special videos with the Naked Bartender! I love being on set whether it's a photoshoot or I'm doing a segment but it's super important to know that your skin is working with you and not against you! I can't wait to share my video with you as I created one specifically with Kitten Lounge in mind and focused on brunch - the most important meal of the week.
Now many of you know that I am a StriVectin Insider. As promised, I wanted to give you an update on one of the items that I have been using. Now many of you know the brand as one that is focused on anti-aging and wrinkles but they are also about making sure that you have a good routine in place so that your skin looks phenomenal so that you have preventative maintenance over time. With that said, wrinkles have never been a concern of mine but I am obsessed with exfoliating and love StriVectin-SD's Instant Retexturizing Scrub. This is something that leaves my skin feeling phenomenal and I love that it has Bergamot in it! In addition, I have been using it twice a week which is perfect when you're exfoliating as I don't think that you should over scrub. Not only is your skin super smooth but if you are concerned about battling wrinkles, you're ensuring that you can fight it off and the aroma is super calming! You never know when you need to get ready for your closeup which is another added benefit to appropriate skincare.
Normally when I talk about something especially beauty, I have used it for a period of 3 - 4 days as I want you to get the full experience from me about the product. There are many of you who love to try items without having extra info and then there are those (totally don't blame you) that need to get some feedback. No matter how pretty the package is you want to have an idea about it so that it doesn't get added to the collection of "it was a great idea in concept". So, the fact that I am posting about this fabulous lip balm that I have had for 24 hours to the second should speak VOLUMES! I will also say that I couldn't stop using this and got a lot of compliments on the scent while I was at an Editor's Preview of Louis Vuitton Fragrances - so that was pretty major!
Sula is an amazing product line that you can find in such stores as Anthropologie and also on their own site as well! Take a peek at the website and you will see products that beg to be played with in a variety of scents from lip balms to perfume and so much more. I love the easy and natural feel of the site and I have to say that that feeling is translated into the product. Now this is Sula's Certified Organic Shea Butter Balm in Bergamot. With a number of scents within this product line, I love that this is petroleum free and can smooth every portion of your body. Seriously, it's meant for any portion of your body that needs moisture from lips to toes and even unruly eyebrows! It's a butter and it comes in a tin which can fit in the smallest of clutches. The scent is not over powering but I have to say that if you are using the Bergamot, you get a scent like Earl Gray tea which is not only invigorating but very soothing as well as I am a huge tea drinker. You also get the smell of Pink Grapefruit which adds it's own punch to the mix. As soon as I put this on my lips I fell in love and I do believe it will replace my Rose Balm that I have been a fan of for the last 6 years! I love that the tins are like collectibles and that the product is made by hand in small batches! Regardless of which scent you choose, they are packed with the natural fruits in there! Take some time to check this out and you may find that you have moved your long time favorite balm or hand cream to another portion of your bag as well!
