Mingling Mondays: One Night Only
Nov03Weekends are essential! I get very excited about them and this one was even more exciting since Kitten Lounge Food Editor and boyfriend, Paul and I were hitting the road to go to Atlantic City to not only enjoy Halloween night but to get in some good food, spa time and a little poker - obviously not all of these would be enjoyed by me but we were both excited. As many of you know who Twitter me, I kept counting down to Atlantic City and by 5pm, I was picked up by Paul and off we went after gassing up the Murano to tackle Atlantic City. There's something about going on a road trip and if you travel with me, you can enjoy me singing along and doing dances (the closer we got to AC we lost our stations and went to 60's and 70's music which brought back memories of Sat mornings when I was little with my mom, sister and I!).
Paul and I had been invited to come down to Atlantic City and to stay at the Tropicana and to enjoy some dining. As we continued on the Atlantic Expressway into the strip, I couldn't help but think that since we took a few wrong turns, that we should definitely think about the next car having a little navigation and that we definitely want to have an SUV but that we might consider getting a Ford Flex as we will do quite a bit of traveling and you can't deny that it is a head turner - I always feel when you hit certain streets you definitely want to do the whole "see and be seen thing".
Arriving at Tropicana, I was pleased to find that we were staying in the new Havana Tower. Not only do I love that it's new but it's so close to all the food and club.lounge options. Since we were a little late (wrong turns will do that to you), we checked in at the front desk and checked in with PF Changs, went upstairs and came back down. All week I had been dreaming of Lettuce Chicken Wraps and I was not disappointed in the slightest; moreover, munching on the Crab Wontons was equally as satisfying. After a crazy week full of presentations and finishing up the Holiday Gift Guide, I was so glad to have the Mai Tai and later a Plum Collins (an interesting take on the Tom Collins which substiutes the vodka for Plum Vodka and also Plum Wine). Paul being a creature of habit, enjoyed the red wine. For dinner, I enjoyed the Sea Bass which sat on spinach leaves and Paul had large prawns. We shared garlic snap peas and for dessert we shared a chocolate dome.
I have always been a fan of PF Changs as I enjoy their asian fusion menu; moreover, when I have had it in a resort setting, I tend to enjoy the food that much more. During dinner we were able to touchbase with Courtney who is the Tropicana's PR Manager. In addition to attending events, I love meeting the people that you spend weeks chatting with in order to learn about a product or service. She let us know that there was a huge Halloween Costume Contest that would happen in the Quarter which is an annual event. While at dinner we saw various costumes and my favorite was actually a couple that we saw while we were checking in - they dressed as a bride and groom from the beyond and yet they had a pack of beer.
After dinner, we walked out into the Quarter to see all the restaurants and clubs that were available upstairs and downstairs. With more people gethering for the costume contest, we decided to step into Cuba Libre downstairs and enjoy some mojitos and of course to dance. I love lively music and everything is much more interesting when you have so many costumes around you. We popped out to catch the winners of the costume and then went upstairs to not only look down on the winners but to pop in to a few more places for a drink. We are both a fan of people watching and I have to say that the Cuba Libre upstairs has a bit of a lounge which is perfect for that. Although it was past midnight and we had only been in Atlantic City for about 4 hours, we continues to Red Square to enjoy an amazing selection of vodkas.
With such a long day behind us and quite an agenda to cover the next day, we decided to turn in. Nothing is better than having a large corner room with a spectacular view of the cities. Whether I'm in Vegas or in AC, I love seeing the bright lights. Being on the 64th floor we had an amazing view that we took in for about an hour or so.
The next morning, we knew we had a lot to do as we were heading home later in the day. Paul had to play Poker as he had been itching to do this for weeks and I knew I had a spa and both of us would meet up for lunch. We decided to do the smartest thing by ordering a plate of fruit to kick off the day! Paul played poker and I headed out to the Blue Mercury Spa. I had no idea that we have one in the city but as I walked in, I saw products that you could purchase from Model Co, Kiehl's, Molton Brown and more. When I headed downstairs, I found Erin who would perform my Blissfuls Coconut Sugar Scrub. Leaving the lockerroom, I walked into a lounge with pitchers of water filled with oranges and limes and platters of fruit. After nibbling on these, Erin walked with me to our room. This treatment had various stages. Erin rubbed coconut scrub on me, I soaked in a coconut milk bath for 20 mins, I took a shower to cool my body down and then I got an intensive full body massage. This was 100 minutes that I could have enjoyed for quite some time. Interestingly enough, I was starving by the time I met up with Paul and we headed to Carmine's.
Carmine's is an Italian restaurant that we have here in the city in Times Square and on the UWS. This family style restaurant has HUGE portions that are meant to be shared with 2 - 4 individuals. Most items are made on premise. As we thought about the menu, we munched on various breads and dipped them into an amazing olive oil ordered lasagna with a side of spinach. From presentation alone, this lasagna looked so good that the table next to us told us that they wished that they had ordered. We had so much that we knew we had to take it home with us. The General Manager stopped by and shared with us the benefits of a restaurant of this nature. When you have various people eating together, everyone has the opprotunity to share various portions of an Italian meal and everyone is able to chip in. We finished the lunch with chocolate canoli's and decided that we had to walk off lunch.
As we walked the boardwalk, we went to a taffy shop to pick up James' Salt Water Taffy. This is a must if you love this candy and everytime I go to Atlantic City, this is something that I have to do. Our walk found us at the outlets and from a little after 3 until almost 7 we shopped! I knew that AC had outlets; however, the amount of shops was surprising. After all the shopping, eating, partying and more, it was time to head home and to ensure that Sun was all about rest.
Thinking back, there are times when you want to do something fun and don't feel like boarding a plane. Filling up the car right after work to head out to AC is totally doable and once there, you can gamble but there are so many things to take advantage of! Whether it's you and hyour sig other or a large group, you won't be at a loss of things to do. The Tropicana was a great place to stay with so many options and you can still visit other areas. This is definitely an option for over night, a couple of days or on your way to something else. Atlantic City and the Tropicana was a Kitten Lounge Pick and a great way to kick off the next few weekends where we will be traveling! Next stop: our invitations to Islands of the World Fashion Week in the Bahamas and Skytop Resort in the Poconos.
Wearable Wednesday: Eyelet for All
Aug27My earliest memory of eyelet was when I was little. I had it in my crib and the growing up, I had it as a bedskirt. I was always fascinated with the delicate lace like fabric with the "little holes" as I used to say. I always associated this fabric with bedding coming in cream and white. But as I grew up, I realized that eyelet didn't have to be confined to just bedding and that it could be made to look very sassy while still being forward and sweet. Here are great looks that include eyelet with pops of color (who doesn't love yellow or blue). I also love that it is totally perfect for bed time. Eyelet is perfect to wear to a garden party or Hamptons event (once again the pop of color is noticed). Then again, it can be paired with jeans for a fun night out on the town! For a look that is perfect for pool side or a party by one, try the yellow tunic dress or even the blue top with a cute pair of leggings! Ah the versatility - something for everyone

It starts tonight! Yesterday was the kick off party at The Raleigh Hotel and now the runways come alive when the sun begins to go down. What a great way to see all of your shows and then head right out to whatever parties are going on. Here is an image, courtesy of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Show, from Red Carter who will show tomorrow evening. I love this bathing suit that is a great mix of ethnic/tribal prints!
This is definitely my favorite suit. I love the pops of blue and the red that are throughout this suit. Also can we talk about the fact that the jewelry they used would be amazing with so many dresses that you have in your closet whether they are plunging, strapless and more! I will definitely have images of this show and can't wait to share this and much more with you from the show!
Wearable Wednesday: Single Life Can Be Celebrated Too

Terrence Howard, Naomi Campbell and various members from the cast of High School Musical and Heros have something in common! They are all members of the Singelringen community. Many of us are familiar with those that have recently become engaged or married. It's easy to tell as we can look at the rings to see what phase of their life that they have shifted to but what about those that are single? Singelringen was created as an answer to what is going on with those that have yet to be married.
This ring has blue acrylic that wraps around the sterling silver ring and exposes a small portion of it in a crescent shape. This crescent shape can be worn to face others stating that the person wearing it is open to love while others choose to wear it inward to show that they are not open to this whether they may not be interested or involved with someone. As I am involved with someone, I wear my crescent closer to my heart signifying that I am already in a relationship. Singelringen are unisex and many wear them on the right hand but you can choose or you can place it on a chain! In addition, there is a unique number within your ring that allows you to log on to the website and to register to link up with others in this community. Being single by those that join this site, is seen as a period in life that this concept is embraced. Although we may not be prepared or be ready for that next step, we can enjoy the benefits of looking, searching or being with someone that means a great deal to us. In addition to being a great concept, I enjoy wearing this ring because I think it looks cute and I love how light and simple it looks.
Snazzy Sundays: Big Apple BBQ Continued

One of the creators of this event was one of the most notable BBQ restaurants - Blue Smoke. Throughout all the panels, everyone had talked about them and I was definitely interested in checking out how they created the amazing tastes that were making people smile. As I walked around the park, it was interesting to see all the ways that people make their signature barbecue. The Big Apple BBQ Fest had so many booths that at first, I didn't really think about the main attraction - actually seeing everyone cook! Thankfully, my boyfriend (the guy in the navy shirt with sunglasses on) took out his camera, which made me think of my Flip. Although I didn't attend today, it was hot yesterday and I don't know how everyone was able to keep working with the heat of the pits and also the weather! I did learn one lesson, when it came to the end of the day and you saw that no one was in line, that's when you knew that they were all out. Unfortunately we had to pass up a few booths because of this. Enjoy seeing the hard working folks at Blue Smoke.
Wearable Wednesday: DVF Hooks You Up Resort Style

So, last night I went to see Sex and the City with some of the ladies from Coutorture! Yes it's amazing that the movie has only been out for a few days and that not only did I not read/see any of the spoilers BUT I really loved the part when one of the characters is in the DVF store in the Meat Packing District. Seeing that and the fact that I was with Coutorture, made me think of how much I loved my time at the store and wearing the dress that I still dream about on a daily basis! Once again, I can't say how much I love DVF and how kind everyone was at that event!
That being said, I also love that DVF knows how to get your eye without making it too over the top. I love this string bikini that is in a very resort like blue shade with pops of white and cream. This such a classic from the style, the color and much more. I really love this suit and the fact that it works well for today while also bringing in elements of another time period - this is definitely how fashion stays relevant. Fashionable Fridays: Christian Dior Cruise 2009 Brings Out Our Inner Barbie

I love many of the images from Christian Dior's Cruise 2009 Collection. There are so many vibrant colors that pop, I love the infusion of the essence of the Southern Belle mixed with the island babe. My favorite outfit from the entire show is this dress. I love that it's fashionable confection! Obviously the colors are very complimentary to one another and I love the length. This is the perfect item to wear when you go to a friends cocktail party on their rooftop or in the Hamptons! At the same time, this reminds me of a dress that would have been a favorite for me to put on my Barbie! The sleek look with the ruffle is perfect and I love the necklace that was paired with this piece. This is definitely the effortless and comfortable look that you would want to wear when being out and about. It's not a bad idea to think about wearing a cute hat with this as well. No matter the season or the style of your apartment/home, having blue in your home is definitely therapeutic and should be used even if it is only a pop of color! These glass vases which are perfect to fill with liquid, flowers, marbles, etc are available in a variety of sizes at Pottery Barn and yes they can be monogrammed as well. This is such a great housewarming gift, graduation or something for you to get yourself whether you line them up in various heights, place it in your kitchen or within your bedroom. You can make your own seascape in whatever way best fits your mood or style. Of course, this will ensure that you'll either visit the store, catalog or site in order to find other items that would work as well! I love summer and a great idea!

So the concept of LAGOON is a favorite of mine because it incorporates obviously blues and greens but also being able to enjoy the sun and all that comes with that. I love this outfit that came from the runways of Michael Kors (which you know I am a huge fan of his sense of great classic American style) and is apart of a collection of images from Coutorture. I love the bold color and the concept of the sun kissed island babe. You know with Michael he incorporate this goddess tone into everything that he presents! Even this silver girl gets sucked into his love for gold and bronze!

Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest ones. You'll find you get more compliments and it took you much less time than the outfits that you labor over for hours. So when it comes to going out and picking up a few great pieces with no idea in mind, I always head out to Forever 21 and if the lines are too much, I go online! I love this Ruched Cami because it would look fab with skinny jeans and a great pair of heels. Love the fact that it's not pricey but that I can pair it with pieces from my collection, Kitten Couture and a cuff from my designer friend Ted Rossi. The possibilities are truly endless! Take a peek at some great finds whether it's popping in new colors or new looks for a truly great price.

Up until a year ago, I would have looked at this belt and just said "why" I was never one to wear a belt period and when it came to wearing a belt that was this skinny - I knew that it didn't necessarily assist in holding your pants up. It just goes to show you that even someone who loves accessories and uses as many as possible, can be absolutely clueless and they have much to learn. Thankfully, I look at belts in general as an opportunity to step up what I'm wearing! A belt like this is a fun item simply because it's only purpose is to showcase you and you can decide where you want to let the belt hang! No matter how hot it is or what trip I'm going on, I always pack a cute graphic T-shirt. I may wear it while I'm there or I may wear it on the plane there. There is something about a graphic shirt that makes me feel comfortable and lets me know that whatever happens I won't find it cumbersome to move around. That being said, I could go for the cute tiny graphic t or something that is definitely bold and out there - making a statement. Last month, I posted about Sailor Jerry who participated in Project in Vegas . I remember seeing this shirt on the website and thinking that it would make a great entry for LAGOON since it's a great nautical blue and I love that it has the Spiced Navy Rum on there. This is definitely cute with jeans, short white shorts, yoga pants and more. It's a great look that could definitely be a staple when you're looking for something quick and cute to wear. It is so close to that time of year – how exciting is it to think that your boots will be replaced by cute sandals, flip flops and espadrilles? I have to say that I have never owned a pair of espadrilles as shocking as this may sound and so this summer I am definitely introducing this into my wardrobe as I see this as a HUGE void that must be filled. In my search and perfect for the theme of LAGOON, I came across Tory Burch’s espadrille known as the Stephanie. I love the pattern on this shoe and the natural nature of it as well. Ah we're now into the second day of April and just think, we can say "Next month it's May". So it is totally appropriate to get into the summery state of mind by introducing this month's theme: LAGOON. Everything that will be posted will have hues of blue and green which is not only tranquil but is a great way to build these elements into your wardrobe. Siman Tu, created this beautiful Lapis Necklace. I love the large stones and the fact that it will look great when wearing with all white, with jeans and so much more! Mingling Mondays: Isabella's

The night before Thanksgiving, I ended up going to an amazing restauraunt that had a great vibe. Isabella's which is located on the UWS, sat right by the park where at around 10ish we saw balloons getting inflated for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Isbaella's is apart of the B.R. Guest Restaurants which also owns Blue Water Grill, Ocean Grill, Dos Caminos, Atlantic Grill, Ruby Foos, etc. I must say that that night we enjoyed the best Honey Pear drink which has presseco and pear vodka - amazingly refreshing birthday. In addition, I enjoyed the seared salmon, new england clam chowder (love the pumpernickel croutons) and blood orange sorbet - so good. Although I had never been here before (my friend and I had popped in the weekend before for brunch - but it was super busy), this has quickly become one of my fave spots. I think this is a great place to go for brunch or for a nice dinner as well.
