Treasure Tuesdays: What We've Logged In ~ Shays Accessories

At any given time, I'm always waiting for packages whether it's a beauty set that I have been thinking of working into a piece, accessories that I am looking to wear for a number of events and various clothing options for upcoming events. I couldn't tell you how much time is spent logging in items whether it's samples that stay, those that will be here for a set time or "options". All of it gets placed in a spreadsheet so that we can organize when everything will make its way to the site depending on the Editorial Calendar. Our new segment, "What We've Logged In" gives you a peek into what we will be sharing on the site later and what we brought in. Although every item will not be included within this post, I'll select our fave within the past week or a fab piece I've been excited to get!

A few weeks ago I was introduced to Bonfaire and as an Accessories Expert, I can say that if you're looking for a site where your favorite luxe brands or those that you are not familiar with but will grow to be your fave, then this is the site to do it. More importantly, when you order items, you will get to do so in advance and get it at the designated season. In November, I selected a number of items and was eager to get this fabulous Pave Gunmetal bracelet ($495) that has a chunky links which are so trend from Shay Accessories!

As a side note, every so many weeks a number of designers are offered within a window of time. Each designer has a different delivery. A number of designers in November were offering items with a Spring/Summer delivery and yet there are times when something if offered that has a much closer window! After selecting the item you like, you have to pay a deposit of 50% and when the item is available and ready to ship, you pay the other half of the deposit.

I knew this would be a signature piece and you will see it in action later on this week as I will attend a private performance of a play. It's a lot of will power to purchase in November and not to get it until Jan but the day arrived (now I will be anticipating a super cute bag I purchased in Nov with a delivery of March)! As many of us are familiar with subscription boxes and other flash sale sites, I wanted to know what to expect from Bonfaire as this company has only been available since summer/fall of 2012.

As I opened the box, I love that there was a envelope with my name attached to the box with brown tissue paper. In addition, this note was handwritten and also acknowledged that this was the first item that I had received from them. Now many times I receive handwritten notes and there is something personal about me in it; however, these are typically because they are coming from a PR firm. Regardless of whether you're media or not, each person will receive a personal note on their first purchase and I will let you know about the second item and how that is!

My fab bracelet came in a branded brown box with a cream flat bow wrapped around it.

Sitting on its little jewelry pillow (not the technical name but that's what I call it) is my new gunmetal bracelet that I am sure you'll see me wearing!

Such a fabulous piece and I couldn't wait to snap a few pics. This bracelet has a nice wait and although I was taking quick images with my camera phone, when it's directly in the light, it sparkles and definitely has a luxe look.

If you have yet to sign up for this service, you definitely need to check it out and see which designers are there. Visit Bonfaire to set up your account and thanks to the fashionable team there, they will give you $100 credit which you can use towards the purchase of your next treasure! Note that there are a number of items that are always changing as well as brands have various price points so you never know what you will find and at the time of purchase, you are only playing a 50% deposit down. It's a great way to build your accessories wardrobe right in time for the season that you're most likely to wear it in! Since I have another item coming in a few weeks, I will keep you updated - but it's always nice getting something in the mail that you can't wait to wear!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Around the Corner

I love a weekend prior to a holiday! In my case, the weekend prior to a holiday means that I can get odds and ends done prior to the 4th and my upcoming travel! It's all about the perfect pot of tea (whether I sip it in the morning, chill it or add a little champagne to it) which starts off with my Breville. I'm loving Kusmi Tea especially in Detox which is a great way to kick off the day. Since this weekend is bound to be gorgeous, I want to be ready for anything whether it's a lunch or a night out so slip on this Missoni jumpsuit which reminds me of candy and all the sweetness that a weekend is meant to have. Pair this with Gerard Yosca with this fab necklace and pendant. Slip on Zariin Jewelry's Green Agate Gold. Round out the look with Givenchy and this large leather bag as it's perfect to store items that you shop for when you're out and about. Finally clad your feet in Prada to make your weekend perfection!

I love Rachel Zoe she's a phenom stylist, designer and overall mogul! When it comes to her personal style, she has a number of looks that I love! I'm obsessed with finding the perfect white shirt dress. I love this maxi shirt dress and there's so much that can be done with it. I would definitely roll up my sleeves and unbutton a few buttons. Continue the grey love with this Stella McCartney grey chain tote that is super roomy! Trendy Thursdays: Sponsored Post ~ Avon Hair Color

As many of you know, I'm a Brand Ambassador for Avon! This means that throughout this year, you will hear about a number of products that I enjoy using or introducing you to new items that are just coming to the market that you should definitely check out! I love that in going to their Research and Development in NJ, that I am very well familiar with the level of committment that they have in testing their products and ensuring that you continue to rock amazing style. When it comes to hair - it's everything. We love to have that sense of coming out of a salon and looking like perfection everyday. For those that love to color their hair and want to do it themselves, I'm loving Avon's Advance Techniques Professional Hair Color which comes in a number of shades!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Hot Pink Decor

Kitten Lounge's signature color is bright pink! Interestingly enough, I was never a pink girl but slowly but surely, I am loving this hot hue and finding ways to pop it into my wardrobe and sprinkle it through my decor whenever possible! It's even (when done correctly) can be included in your home even if you're living with your boyfriend! Paul suggests that the way to sneak in pink hues is to understand that guys within the last 10 years have become more open to color. So start with a neutral canvas in a spare room, and had in a red or blue accent color. Once he's ok with that, you can take out the hues that are not meant to bein the room and find ways to bring in pink as the grounding color!

Today's inspiration came from Kitten Lounge's signature color and Maria Grachvogel's (I totally drool for this piece) gorgeous bold maxi dress embodies this aesthetic without a doubt! I'm loving Jonathan Adler's Southampton Candle which mixes in this fab hot pink color, brown and white colors within its packaging. Horchow is one of my favorite places to go for decor so of course, we include it on the site quite a bit! I'm loving not only this fabulously crisp white couch as well as the pops of color which has white and brown pillows and the pops of the bright pink. Of course, Anthropologie is another fave of mine as well. I love this Smoldering Shower Curatin which has gradiant of colors in it with a frilly look that is super femme as well as one of my favorite glasses known as the Helianthus Goblet in a nice pink pop.

Swoonfest Saturdays: Kimmie's 5s ~ Sundance Inspirations

Although we're thinking about getting gifted around the Kitten Lounge Loft (Happy Christmas Eve to everyone and those celebrating other winter holidays, enjoy them without a doubt), I have to say that my mind around this time of year goes to the beginning fashion tradeshows that kick off my fashion calendar as well as such events as Sundance Film Festival. It's going to be an amazing 2012 of travel and although some of us will have to deal with pesky outerwear, there is no reason to reduce how cute we can look as snowbunnies (regardless of how mild the weather may appear to be in NYC or other locales). First off, I am obsessed with a new outerwear find to me, Hawke & Co. courtesy of TJ Maxx. This season, I will enjoy wearing a number of my tapered coats and capes; however, with images of people skiing last winter on Park Ave, I knew I needed a coat that was puffy, long, had a hood and would be super warm! This definitely fit the bill! Last winter I received these exact Sorel boots known as Cate the Great which are an awesome grey which works well with my grey coat (which also comes in black and brown). These boots are perfect when it is snowing, when you're walking through slush and I love the furry detailing and the fact that they come up high.

Although I want to be warm, I know that it is essential that I'm still cute as I will be heading to the airport for warmer climates, running around the city and more and you can't skimp on the cute factor. Pair this look with Hotel Particulier's Fox Fur hat which is so cute and cozy. Ralph Lauren keeps your hands warm and accessible to grab your phone with these fingerless gloves that have fab cable detail on the outside. Of course, exposed fingers allow for fabulous cocktail rings to grace your finger - including this one by JLRicci which is made of smoky quartz. Finally, it's always about the bag and I'm loving Furla's shearling camel hobo bag which is easy and yet makes a fab statement no matter where you are off too!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style - Kimmie's 5s ~ He Rocks The Look

When it comes to his style, it's ok to watch him stack on the accessories and to encourage him to continue building this portion of his closet. As I said earlier this week, it's all about the top 5's/. Guys love the simple half zip cardigan and you can never go wrong with this charcoal Polo Ralph Lauren classic and to pair it with All Saints' jeans. Everything else is a fabulous series of items that are also perfect for gifting!

I am all about the weekender bag which is great to run errands and to have as you travel throughout the holiday season. When it comes to a lush bag, you can't go wrong with this brown Gucci bag. One of my favorite jewelry designers, especially for men, is Konstantino. This necklace blends silver and gold together and I love the Pegasus in black which adds a richness and ties in the multi tones that can be worn together. Rock out more silver with David Yurman's chain bracelet. Slip on this watch by Ritmo Mundo which once again ties in our fab neutrals while popping in color and then finish the look with Tod's driver which I love in this shade and think this is a staple.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Bowl Your Space

A few days, ago I received a Michael Craig (founder of Dinette.com and Interior Design Guru) Collection Silver Bowl. This was definitely a thank you gift but also a great way to challenge how to take something and put it in your space and to optimize its use. As an Accessories Expert and Designer, I always have bits and baubles lying around that I need to be able to get quickly! I took my silver bowl and places in loose stones that I have used for my jewelry and placed my go to rings (we all know my on going obsession with Virgins, Saints and Angels) within the bowl which can sit anywhere that I happen to be but is the perfect item to have on your nightstand in your bedroom! With that said, I wanted to take these natural tones and create an overall look that will be amazing for your room to create a seasonless look!

Switch out your bed and make it a nice marble grey effect by having this Coralie Bed available at Anthropologie. Change your pillow covers with this marble effect pillow cover that's at West Elm and continue the marble look on this rug from Neiman Marcus whether it's by your bed or in your bathroom. While you're at West Elm, you should also check out some soft lighting with this fab Capiz Pendant light fixture.

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Pony Hair Dreams

I'm such a fan of Pony Hair! It's been something that I have definitely embraced in my wardrobe since last fall but now I know that I need to have it in my current rotation! Above, I have a number of fab items that are the perfect way to bring this luxe texture into your wardrobe. Jimmy Choo has this fabulous wallet that's a brown and ivory print. When you're running errands, you have to do so with this fab large saddle bag from Henry Cuir which looks great with leggings and boots. Givenchy, has this fab pair of ankle shoes which are oh so very Anthropologie and beg to be worn with a number of outfits! You have to go vintage and no one does it better than Chanel with this super cute clutch. Christian Louboutin always makes an appearance when you are talking about items to add into your wardrobe! I love this black and white combo. DVF has a fab ruby patchwork clutch which of course is in the famed pony hair look! Fendi's platform boots are phenom and knee high as well. Menswear is always a nice touch within your look so I'm loving Dolce & Gabbana's croc and pony hair oxfords. Finally, I'm OBSESSED with House of Harlow's Orina clutch which has a nice weight to it, fits fab in your hand and of course is pony hair!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Kiki Inspires Decor

Your living space can take a few cues from some of your most beloved closet treasures! In honor of October being National PJ Month, I had to select Kiki de Montparnasse's Amour Lace Trimmed Silk Chiffon Camisole which is sweet and super cute to wear as your wrapped up in your cashmere blankie and super cute cashmere knee high socks! With that said, this great cream color can be accented with browns as well as tones of pink. These colors can be done in such a way that it looks amazing whether it's with your significant other, your bedroom, kitchen or living room!

I'm loving this Victorian inspired vase by Anthropologie which is a nice accent piece. This cabinet is a nice antiqued feature (I'm obsessed) from Rooms to Go that adds a bit of character and yet allows you to store a number of items in there that don't need to be out and about. Everyone knows that I'm all about taking your tea throughout the day so of course when I saw this set by Horchow I knew it would be a fab way to bring in a bit of the nip and chill. As you send your thank you notes as you're setting up a nice way to entertain guests for at home brunches, Neiman Marcus has you covered. All of your tasty goodies can be made with this white on white mixer by Diane Von Furstenberg you can have a phenom boho chic modern inspired sleeping space that allows you to have a great base of color while also adding in fun pops that are for you and your favorite guests or living partner!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Concrete Jungle

I spend a lot of time trekking in the city so the term, Concrete Jungle definitely applies as I navigate the streets and avenues. But no matter how hot it is, you still have to look cute as you never know where the day will take you. Today, it's all about embracing my love for the military city chic effect (love playing with olive, neutrals, browns and mixed minerals) which has a comfy romper by BCBG Max Azria that incorporates some of my favorite jewelry pieces - fab multi charm braceletes from YSL, a leopard patent leather print from Jimmy Choo and this fabulous necklace from Sevan Bicakci! Together, this look ensures that you're boardroom ready, sushi available and anything else that may bring you out of your concrete hut!

Swoonfest Saturdays: Spring Break 2011 ~ Vitamin A

There is something about a stark white bikini on tanned, olive, caramel or any number of the gorg brown shades that many rock that makes you want to run to your nearest oasis! When you have an all white look in the summer, that's when I definitely get excited to wear gold. I don't wear this tone a lot but we all have our bling out moments and this is such a case. Vitamin A is one of my favorite brands as they always have such a fun suit that's perfect for your global beach destination. Of course, I'm charmed with Alex and Ani and this bunch of bracelets will not go unnoticed on your arm. Finally, show everyone that you rock, own and have stock in your divalicious card by rocking these sky high gold Donna Karan shoes and with the subtle bling by Cathy Waterman available at my fave boutique, Ylang 23!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Rock It

I live for super cute leggings and jeans - I literally wear them all the time. In the winter I'm all about wearing black and grey and mixing it in with hues of brown! With that said, I am officially obsessed with Report's Fairfax Over the Knee Boot which looks absolutely phenom (they are super comfy to wear and if you're like me and live for wearing simple looks, they definitely enhance the overall look in an instant - they are officially apart of my wardrobe)! I'm also a fan of the sweatshirt but like many of the items we may have loved wearing back in our collegiate days, why not update it tunic style and get something from James Perse? Finally, it's all about the fab leathers and we're loving this Jimmy Choo Babeth Tote which is two tones and works well with the boots as well as the Vintage Long Leather Coat from Free People! Together this is all about having a super comfortable look that is perfect for the weekends as well as any time that we are doing errands or having meetings that aren't exactly taking place in the board room! This is also the perfect way to travel as well as you begin to jetset for the spring.

Snazzy Sundays ~ On To The Next

If we're connected on my social networks, you know that I am jetting off to Cancun on Tues to cover the Royal Holiday Resort with a few bloggers and am so happy that Aly Walansky will be with me on this trip. If we can conquer the bungalows at The Delano during our press trip for Schick in SoBe, we plan to do the same in Mexico. They sent us our agenda for next week and all I could think about was getting my clothes together! But of course, right around the corner, I have a trip to go to Dominican Republic for one of the projects that you guys will begin to hear about in the next few weeks. It involves me designing accessories for a brand and later appearing on TV! More to come.

Anywho - here it is that I should be planning for Cancun as it's on Tues but I have already raced ahead to think about fun dinner outfits. Yes we'll be at an island but I love dressing for dinner when I'm away and I happened on 6126! We all have our opinions on LiLo but I will say that much like Lauren Conrad's first line, this is one that I love. I love this dress as it reminds me of fab 70's/boho chic style which is on trend this season (but who are we kidding the 70's is generally on trend). I love that the dress has hues of salmon/coral, blue/purple and cream hues. In fact if Cher had just come out singing Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves - I would want her to wear this dress! Love the concept of this photo but of course I wanted to tweak the accessories.

I would take out the chunky shoes that had been included in this shoot and go for this pair of shoes by Mr Louboutin! It has that disco vibe but I think it looks much better and I don't mind that I'm continuing the matchy matchy vibe of the outfit. What I love about this look is that I have introduced natural tones! I'm a huge fan of the colors that you find in wooden pieces and in amber so when I saw the faceted glass ring by Burberry and the snakeskin clutch which had various tones in it, it was a no brainer that it would make this outfit look phenom! Finally, you need a great necklace but I wanted to tie in the hues of the overall look and yet reflect a natural component - enter the shell necklace. I'd also check out more items by Mali Sabatasso as I think that the collection has a number of striking pieces in various hues (new designer to me but I am obsessing over these pieces)! This is definitely perfect for a night out with the girls, a special someone or maybe a business dinner where you're on display and you know that you have to bring it!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Rompers Are Joining Maxis

The last day of April means that you feel summer is literally right behind you! Rompers are now the new maxi. Both have been around for quite some time and are definitely not new to the fashionscape but their iconic status is bringing them to this season! I actually just received my first romper (since the last time I wore one I was 5) at Victoria's Secret's Press Event! Now it's all about dressing for the heat, hanging out with friends throughout the day and of course looking fabulous. This is such a great look for those that want to create an upscale diva look for the romper - summer's essential element! Take everything to new levels by mixing black, browns, and rich golden tones together to achieve the above look! Take some time to think about how you'll wear rompers and maxis this season!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Au Naturale For Organic Eating

As you guys know, Paul, is the Food Editor of this site and although he has been busy working on a fab project that we will be releasing here on this site, he has taught me a lot about the purpose behind organic eating. Whatever it is that we enjoy eating, it should be chemical free and free range (for those that eat meat). The more that we have begun eating within this lifestyle, I've noticed such a contrast between eating at restaurants that are organic versus those that aren't. Each week, Paul and I enjoy shopping at Farmer's Markets and finding restaurants that are either vegetarian or organic (as I do love chicken and having meat every now and then). This mission has created a new understanding and it's amazing to open our horizons. It's become an issue that I definitely will bring to this site for others that want to know more about places to eat, purchase foods, etc. Not only will this be incorporated into Snazzy Sundays segments but I also want to create awareness to organizations that help those that work within that industry.

To that end, I have created a collection where a portion of the proceeds will go to NOFA NY (Northeast Organic Farming Association, NY), an organization that is "the oldest and largest organization in New York devoted to organic and sustainable farming and gardening. They are an organization of consumers, gardeners and farmers creating a sustainable regional food system which is ecologically sound and economically viable". This collection is entitled, Au Naturale. To me, being organic is keeping everything simple, clean and nourishing. Eating is a lifestyle and as a part of my lifestyle, I enjoy accessories. This collection includes my favorite stone, Agate in a myriad of colors and placed on a sterling silver chain. These chains are two feet in length and the pendants come in brown, red, blue and more. These natural stones are perfect to pair with a number of items and come in small ($40), medium ($50) and large ($60). $10 from the sale of each piece will go to this organization to continue to support NOFA NY's efforts! In addition, you'll look fab wearing these pieces which will be available on Kitten Couture as an ongoing effort to maintain fab eating and fab accessorizing!

Paul's Honest Meal: Simply Said…

What is the nature of the farmer’s market, the organic and the all-natural? I believe that it’s simplicity. If I may venture down the cliché alley, in my opinion it’s the simple things that make our lives worth living. The undemanding and the effortless welcome us in an array of circumstances and unanticipated probabilities; an unexpected smile, the laughter of a loved one or may be just a lazy Sunday walk at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

Personally, the memories of my favorite meals are not set in bold Soho establishments, but are a part of treasured slide show filled with family dinners, friend’s apartments and my great aunt’s loving touch. Back in the day when organic was the norm, the farmers market was just a market and dinner conversation was not just a clever dialogue on ones favorite sitcom, meals were born and past down to our generation. I believe that we need simple recipes for simple markets with simple produce. The simple is the organic and the true. Today, I am going to introduce a simple recipe with ingredients that can be found at any market and prepared by any one.

Sauce

2 medium onions

1 green pepper

1 head of garlic

1/3 bunch of celery

2 yellow squash

2 zucchini squash

7 small tomatoes

Molasses

26.5oz Pomi strained tomatoes

Preheat a large pot with a little olive oil. Chop the onions, celery, eggplant, peeled green pepper, garlic, yellow squash and zucchini squash. Brown the vegetables over high heat. Add fresh tomatoes and continue to sauté. When the vegetables are ready and you’ll know when they are add 26.5oz carton of Pomi strained tomatoes and just as much water. Bring to a boil, add three tablespoons of molasses and reduce to simmer. Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste. Continue to cook the sauce until it thickens to the desired consistency and add more water if necessary. If you are a vegetarian then your pasta sauce is ready and if you are an omnivore like myself add meatballs 10 minutes before the sauce is finished.

Meatballs

3 lbs ground pork

1½ lbs ground beef

1½ lbs ground lamb

1 cup parmesan cheese

1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs

1 extra large egg

1 onion

3 garlic cloves

½ cup of water

½ cup of chopped cilantro and parsley

Mix everything in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste. Shape the meatballs to your desired shape and size and place into an oiled aluminum pan. Preheat the over to 500º F and brown the meatballs. Add the meatballs to your sauce 10 minutes prior to completion.

Cooking does not have to be complicated and ingredients do not have to be expansive in order to prepare a delicious meal. All you need is the knowledge of a couple simple cooking techniques and the courage to use any ingredients that you think will work for you. And trust me, a couple of good friends and plenty of wine alongside your newly found love for the homemade is that one perfect and necessary garnish for any meal.

Fashionable Fridays: THINK CITRUS ~ Bikini Love

DvfIt's almost the end of the month and slowly but surely we will be leaving our theme of THINK CITRUS and will be moving on to another theme. I am actually excited about this and the fact that today is the first day of Spring! This means we are that much closer to being able to enjoy one of my favorite outfits that I could literally live in - bathing suits! This bikini is made by Diane Von Furstenberg. I love the orange, brown, yellow and white portions of this outfit and of course the sexiness of the ties are an amazing touch. I also love the little wooden embellishments that make this suit even more exotic! This is definitely a suit that you will continue to reach for when getting your beach bag again and again. In addition, a girl has to have more than one suit and thankfully you won't run out of options on Bluefly! Check out this, coverups and much more.

Treasure Tuesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Agate is a Great Pop of Color

RnagateI love the idea of presenting so many "citrus" oriented items to all of you. This citrus is more of an ode to grapefruit but is definitely something that I think is super cute with many of the flirty tops and dresses that we will be wearing as we head towards summer. These little leather clutches by Rebecca Norman are hand sewn and have this beautiful agate embellishment on each piece. If this pinkish/brown agate is not you, there are other embellishments that you will enjoy. I love this sense of natural bling and feel that this will look amazing with many of your denim looks and super cute heels. Check out more pieces from this designer to see what else you can expand within your closet!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Bohemian Cami Love

BohemianloveThe best part of fashion is the fact that you can rock your Carlos by Carlos Santana heels, with your Hudson Jeans and touching it off with a super cute wooded clutch from Ports 1961. Then you can top if off with this super cute Bohemian Hanky Cami available at Wet Seal for the whopping price of $16! It's nice to know that fashion can be worn in a variety of ways and comes in various price points as well. I am all about the Bohemian lifestyle. I love these cute tops and the fact that it's cream and brown with pops of orange. I am so getting this top and love the idea that this is the obvious choice to take with me to South Beach, Vegas, Meat Packing District and you're local sidewalk cafe or garden/patio drinking spot. Check out more great looks that are available at Wet Seal.
