Treasure Tuesdays ~ Punk at The Met Gala

Fashion has many nights of note but when Vogue creates a party, everyone definitely comes dressed to the max! I'm loving that this year's Met theme - Punk: Chaos to Couture which launches the MOMA exxhibit within the same theme. Although many rocked it, there were some who definitely embraced it. My two faves of the night, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway. Roll over the images to see video of the arrivals last night as well as images! Whatever look you loved from the red carpet that hit NYC last night, you can purchase these items from Moda Operandi.

GET SARAH JESSICA PARKER'S LOOK

STYLE

Sarah is known for sticking to a theme and last night was not a disappointment by any stretch of the imagination. She rocked a headdress by Philip Treacy. Her stunning gown was by none other than Giles Deacon and paired it with knee high tartan plaid boots. She even came in with Vogue's, Hamish Bowles.

BEAUTY

Leslie Lopez for NARS Cosmetics had a simple beauty inspiration: “I had to make the punk look glamorous,” said Lopez about the look she created for Sarah Jessica Parker. To create strong eyes, we used a plum pencil that is both intense but beautiful. No matter what the theme, I always want Sarah Jessica to look beautiful, so we softened the intensity of the eyes with a light mouth – Tender Night Velvet Matte Lip Pencil was the perfect, modern, approach!"

GET ANNE HATHAWAY'S LOOK

STYLE

Anne Hathaway looked stunning and edgy in this vintage sheer Valentino which showed the perfect balance of skin, feathers and more! In addition, she had great styling elements in this all black ensemble with eclectic rings which added subtle pops as her hair was such a noticeable look between the cut and the hue a la Debbie Harry.

BEAUTY

Celebrity Stylist Sascha Breuer gave Anne Hathaway a strong punk yet glam hair look for the 2013 MET Ball. “Drawing inspiration from unforgettable punk icons like Poly Styrene from X-ray Spex and Joan Jett, I decided to go for a look that's glam, edgy and yet very youthful and fun. We kept the style much shorter for Anne and had a lot of fun playing around with it. To enhance her punk look further we decided to take her hair to the next level: A new cool Platinum blonde color and the sharp slightly boyish finish with loads of texture were the perfect match,” says Sascha Breuer. She used Wekka Professionals Extra Volume Mousse, Wella Professionals Bold Move and Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray.

Laura Mercier's makeup artist, Breuchaud gave a subtle nod to the event’s punk theme by creating a bold, “electric blue” smoky eye to complement Anne Hathaway’s flawless, porcelain skin.

FLAWLESS FACE: A flawless, “clean” face was the perfect canvas for the look

• Make up Artist, Adam Breuchaud first applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32), to give Hathaway’s skin an “even, lasting finish.”

• Then, he used a damp sponge to apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Porcelain ($43) to even out her skin tone and give the skin an “amazingly sheer veil of color.”

• Lastly, he lightly dusted on Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($22) to set the Tinted Moisturizer and ensure the skin kept its “dewy finish” throughout the night.

EYES: Breuchaud went with a “bold smoky” eye to pay homage to the “punk” theme

•First, Breuchaud mixed Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid ($24) with Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Deep Night ($23).

•In order to deepen the look, he applied Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Noir ($22) to her lash line and blended the eye liner throughout the corner of her eye using the Laura Mercier Corner Eye Colour Brush ($25).

•Breuchaud added the final touch of glamour by applying multiple coats of Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black ($24) to the top and bottom lashes.

LIPS: Fresh, natural lips complemented the dramatic eye

• Breuchaud applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26), which he described as a “beautiful soft pink” to Hathaway’s lips

Wearable Wednesdays: Designer Spotligth ~ Aiisha Debuts I by Aiisha

It's no secret that one of my favorite designers is Aiisha who has a flare for the dramatic mixed with an edge and a sense of whimsy. I have worn her collection and love the couture quality of each garment and they are a must have within my personal collection. In fact, one of her fabulous pieces was included within Shoe Week's inaugural NYFW show last Sept! Aiisha has launched a new high end ready to wear collection that will be available in August of this year and it is absolutely stunning! This new line's debut collection is titled as 'Mirror' and she launched it at the Infiniti Centre this week in Dubai as well as with a video that has a number of celebrities sharing what Style means to them and Aiisha makes an appearance as well. The Mirror collection sees women as having 2 sides and being able to represent both through great design. Within the video, each women shares her sides including Beauty Expert and TV Presenter Joelle Mardinian, singer Asmaa Lmnawar and TV Presenter Mohamad Abu Obeid. Bollywood actor Arjan Bajwa and designer of the collection, Aiisha Ramadan also make an appearance within this video. See the collection and of course this post will be updated with images from the show as well.

Wearable Wednesdays: Awards Season 2013 ~ People's Choice Awards

Tonight, The People's Choice Awards had a number of celebs hitting the red carpet and I had to choose my favorites! I love when the carpets have fabulous white dresses on them. Taylor Swift looked phenomenal in this classic Ralph Lauren plunging dress accented with turquoise earrings was the perfect touch. Ellen Pompeo looks fabulous in this long white bohemian maxidress by Lanvin which I could see being such a versatile piece to wear for a number of things such as a night out, a day of shopping and on a rooftop in Miami. Rumor Willis looks phenomenal in her black and silver Alice + Olivia dress (we had posted about the green version of this dress during the holiday season) which has just the perfect amount of sparkle. Finally Nikki Deloach has this fabulous dress that makes me think of Audrey Hepburn (we'll update with the designer).

Mingling Mondays: Awards Season 2013 ~ Audi Golden Globe 2013 Kick Off Party

It's officially awards season and we will let you know about a number of the looks that are being rocked at a number of red carpet events that take place from now until the end of the season! Yesterday, the Audi Golden Globe 2013 Kick Off Party took place last night at Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood. NBC's Fashion Star, Louise Roe wore a fabulously yellow dress from Todd Lynn's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I love the kaftan effect of this piece and accented with a pair of pointy toe heels and L.K. Bennett 'Alexia' clutch in taupe. This is a great look to wear when you're thinking of the perfect outfit for a brunch, bridal luncheon and more.

Mingling Mondays: SS2013 Trends ~ Classic Style

Now admittedly, the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala took place here in NYC back in May at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center and one of my favorite housewives from Bravo's, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey looked so timeless when she hit the red carpet this summer! I had a brief moment of meeting her weeks after this event in New Orleans at Essence Music Festival at the My Black is Beautiful Booth where I was a celebrity stylist at this P&G booth on behalf of Crest as I am a Brand Ambassador for Crest 3D White! She was absolutely stunning and has amazing skin! I love the plunging neckline of this color blocked dress that also huge her curved and how she mixes her metals together. As an Accessories Expert, I am always focused on styling the right touch for this look. As a fan of natural pieces, I have fallen in love with Kimberly McDonald and am obsessed with this large geode ring with rose cut diamonds (my signature piece is an oversized large cocktail ring by Ana Reign and when I see people that can carry this look off, I'm always looking for was to add it in) as well as her geode necklace! Usually, I love mixing designers but these pieces are perfect together.

I left dramatic eyes and that's something that Cynthia knows a lot about! I would definitely use NARS' Night Collection Eyeshadow Night Breed and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow which has a fabulous blend of gold and black.

Trendy Thursdays: Q& A Edition ~ A Conversation with Cat Deeley

When talking with Cat Deeley (producer and host of So You Think You Can Dance, as well as a model and actress), you get the impression that this fabulous fashionista and host is not only comfortable in her own skin but is willing to put herself out there and truly has a love for fashion and attention to detail. Although I missed seeing her in person last week at a Crest event, I got a chance to chat with her moments ago to find out her and her sense of style.

First, I always ask about people's routines. As you know, I'm always running to appointments in the city, hopping on a flight to HSN, designing lines etc and I loved hearing that Cat also agrees with my notion of being able to prep so you're always ready and keeping it easy so we can continue to multi-task. Cat believes in ensuring that she gets her nails shaped so she's always ready for a great color change, that even when her hair pulled up that she has maintained her mane with a great cut and color and she loves the 2 hour Crest Whitening Strips as it allows her to continue to read her emails, do a facial etc and after she's done, she doesn't need to think about doing it daily! This saves time when she's traveling and even when you're in the crazy holiday season, it allows you to get two important things taken care of - taking care of yourself while also making your deadlines!

When Cat hosts SYTYCD or hits the red carpet, she has such an army of designers that she loves. I asked her about her favorite look that she rocked when she was hosting the show and immediately she talked about a dress that she had owned for nearly 10 years! She's a fan of recycling within her own wardrobe and more importantly, she has such a story with a number of the items that she rocks as well as designers that she loves! Hearing the story, you understand the connection and can see why this fab lady wears a number of fabulous pieces without having a stylist - impressive. Last summer on SYTYCD, she wore the above Tom Ford for Gucci Dress from Spring 2003. This came about as she was on a transatlantic flight and he happened to be on there. Just in case we were wondering, Tom Ford (no shocker here) was impeccably dressed and she highlights that he is charming, chivalrous and everything one can imagine when thinking of his world of style. Because of that run in, she remembered that she had the above dress that she had worn years ago and decided to wear it on an episode of the show. Wearing this dress had a new meaning and anytime you're able to connect with a designer on that level it definitely becomes a favorite designer that you're honored to wear!

Without a doubt, Cat is a Fashion Expert, when you hear her talk about style, the fact that she merges new designers with established ones and can also mix high end with fast fashion - it's no wonder that after checking out her site that we saw a number of videos she did in partnership with Yahoo - In The Dressing Room with Cat Deeley. Here she chats with a number of designers. To date, her favorite is Matthew Williamson and if she had the chance, she'd love to speak with Grace Coddington as she is intrigued about finding out her inspirations (which is one of my favorite things to learn about creative people).

Prior to speaking with her this afternoon, I knew she would be bubbly and engaging as you get that from her appearances but being able to find out that she has a great sense of pride in her fashion style and isn't afraid to use her platform to showcase a number of styles, designers and more makes her adorable and a girl that you'd definitely love to chat with for hours.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Reduce Holiday Stress

Last night, I had the chance to chit chat with party planner and bridal planner extraordinaire, David Tutera! We know that the holiday season is a crazy time period as you want to hang out with friends and family, have parties to plan, gifts to purchase and there's only so much that a person can do! When stress starts to hit, people tend to notice that this leads to frequent heart burn (that acid feeling that makes it hard for you to go to sleep, that has a burning sensation and all the symptoms that come with it)! I sat with Dr Steven Lamm who talked about the fact that stress is triggered when you realize that you have time crunches, a number of items on your plate, expectations that you want to meet and more. Dr Lamm is passionate about good digestive health which is a combination of a balanced diet and reducing stress - both are essential and of course when things flare up, having Prevacid 24HR and taking it as prescribed will help you!

In talking with David (who suffers from frequent heartburn and learned how to manage his stress levels), the main take away was honest expectations and living in the moment. We stress out when we take on too many things, don't delegate when needed, and don't participate within our own activities (stressing while our party that we planned is going on when we should be our own guest). When we manage our expectations and have appropriate realities we can have fun. In addition, use the tricks when you can! If you're planning a get together, here are some tips that we must keep in mind to make Holiday 12 a success:

• Decorate simply & quickly by choosing one item and using it in abundance

• For soft lighting, add candles. I love using tea lights along window sills or across a mantle

• Add ambiance with a soft, jazzy soundtrack or use nature’s soundtrack - a crackling fire

• Simplify the menu by having one homemade signature dish and supplement with frozen foods plated on unique serving dishes

• To create a welcoming environment, stay calm and stress free! Everyone has different reactions to stress - I know that my frequent heartburn can flare up, so whatever your issue, make sure to arm yourself with what you need

Mingling Mondays: FW2012 Trends ~ Paige Butcher

As many of you know, the 360 of what I do beyond Kitten Lounge also includes my role as an Accessories Expert. Here recently, I have been working on projects (soon to be announced) where people will ask who have I styled/dressed or who do I wish to dress and how I go about obtaining them. I thought about this when I happened to see images from Saturday night's event for Spike TV with Eddie Murphy: One Night Only. I loved seeing how Eddie's girlfriend, Paige Butcher was dressed. There is something about keeping it simple, stunning and regal so as to compliment your date on his big night while being phenomenal!

Paige is an Australian model who has graced a number of covers including Maxim, Fitness and more. In addition she has appeared in commercials, movies, etc. To be clear I have never met nor have never styled this laid back beauty; however, I can tell she has an inner boho chic vibe which I am drawn to those sensibilities when it comes to styling as you can mix glam and natural elements together. Although I think she looks great, as an Accessories Expert, I would definitely enhance her look with the following:

I would have loved to have seen her rock these Cabochon earrings with Lapis Lazuli (I have been obsessed with this stone since I was in 3rd grade and found that it has been used in many of the jewelry and tombs of Pharoahs! These earrings by Kendra Scott are glam but have a bit of an earthy nature which can be worn for an event or just around town. This Mallary Marks ring is stunning and dynamic. Catherine Weitzman has been one of my fave designers for a number of years and I love this gold leaf cuff. Finally, I would have swapped clutches for this fabulous Nancy Gonzalez blue python clutch has edge which can be rocked with denim to grab drinks with the girls. Together this look is enhanced and yet still looks fabulous with her dress and nude pumps!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Carol's Daughter at EMF

While I was away at the Essence Music Festival at Crest, there were a number of celebrities making the rounds throughout New Orleans! Carol's Daughter had their pop up shop which allowed people to buy a number of their products AND to get a chance to chit chat with a number of celebrities! Unfortunately, I was in the midst of doing my Meet and Greets at Crest but I had to share two of my favorite people that I wanted to see if my times had meshed a little better - Erica from Mary Mary (which I ended up seeing later at NOLA Emeril's restaurant later that night) and who is pictured next to founder, Lisa Price and of course Tank! One of my fave products right now is the Macadamia Hold and Control Smoother which my boyfriend uses all the time to style his hair. I love that not only is this a fab product in terms of unisex use but as many of you know Paul is Italian, Sicilian and Hungarian and loves this in his hair so it's definitely a multi -texture tool! He loves using this on the front of his hair for a thicker look as he uses another styling gel for his sides for a sleek look and then another for the back. You can't say that guys don't pay close attention to their hair!

Check out more images from Carol's Daughter Pop Up Shop.

Mingling Mondays: SS 2012 Trends ~ Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton

Over the past few days, we have all heard about The Queen's Diamond Jubilee which celebrates Queen Elizabeth's 60 years as the Queen of England. With a number of celebrations, this was a great way to check out a number of fashionable ways to rock a look while being respectful of the decorum that this series of events requires. Kate Middleton (picture courtesy of WENN.com), rocked out in this amazing Alexander McQueen pin dress at the River Pageant Flotilla. I have seen it worn by a number of celebrities and I love the way that Kate is wearing it. She paired this with one of her favorite go to shoes - the nude pump by L.K. Bennett.

I would complete this look with the fun and compact clutch by Nina which has a nice embellishment on the top of the clasp. I would also pair these Charriol champagne diamond and bronze drop earrings. Together this is such a fab look!

If you want to get in on a celebration, you can go to a number of bars that are whipping up drinks in honor of this event! Our friends at Whitehall here in NYC (19 Greenwich Ave) have The Queen's Jubilee Cocktail made by mixologist, John McCarthy.

1 1/2 measures of U'Luvka Vodka

1/2 a measure of Lemon

1/2 a measure of St. Germain or elderflower cordial

1/2 Plymouth Sloe Gin

2 dashes of Lavender bitters 2 dashes of Rose Water

Garnished with an edible Flower

Pour all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

Shake and strain. Garnish.

Serve in Coup Glass

Mingling Mondays: SS 2012 Trends ~ Kris Jenner

The Kardashians definitely have a matriarch that keeps everything in check even while she works on her personal empire. Last week, Kris Jenner stepped out to attend Google and The Hollywood Reporter hosted an event right before the White House Correspondants dinner! I love Kris Jenner wearing this long sleeved banded dress in white! It's a sexy look while definitely being age appropriate as she is always on point with her look .We're loving her woven black clutch and may we suggest this one by Bottega Veneta which is oh so chic. I'm drooling over her earrings as they are classy, eye popping and can be noticed wherever you happen to stand! To get a similar look, try Colucci Diamonds availale at one of my favorite sites, Forzieri! Finally, it's always about the shoes, I would have actually opted for this fab mesh pair by Giuseppe Zanotti as I love the fun exchange of textures between mesh, banded and woven! White is so crisp and there is a way to bring it to a feminine as well as an edgy look.

Fashionable Fridays: Jimmy Choo Hits the Met

Today's theme is the gala as last night I attended the American Cancer Society's "Pink & Black Tie Gala" which took place in Brooklyn and was hosted by TLC's, Stacy London. Although these images will be up shortly on the site, I wanted to share another gala that took place on Mon.

I think that Jimmy Choo's are appropriate for any occassion; however, one of the most obvious places is when they're included at a gala or an event that dressing up is required! This week the Met Costume Institute Benefit Gala hosted by Marc Jacobs, Anna Wintour, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake took place and various celebrities hit the red carpet wearing and holding their beloved Jimmy Choos. So enjoy some fab pictures of amazing gowns and of course accessorized with the glam that is Jimmy Choo! As a side note, last weekend, I picked up The Towering World of Jimmy Choo which talks about how the brand began and how it was extended to be what we know it as today! I will definitely include this within a future post as I won't have started reading it until later on this weekend!

Treasure Tuesdays: Let The Reign of Ana Reign Begin

For someone that is all about accessories that pop, I had no choice but to have a double feature on today's posts! I love that Ana Reign has large rings and necklaces and I have to say that her rings are my favorite. I thought I wore big rings, but I must now upgrade to these pieces! I love that she has a natural, baroque. macabre vibe in her jewelry that is super feminine and has a lot of attitude. Whether her pieces are being worn by celebs, are styling models or are simply being used within her editorials, you can't take your eyes off of what the designer has created. Enjoy these fab images and begin to think about what piece really speaks to you as I now have a few favorites that I would be more than happy to include within my collection. Visit the website as the music goes so well with the collection as well!
