Now like many of you, I have so much tech it's a bit crazy when it comes to putting things together when I'm running around the city or seriously traveling on a trip! So when I am working with my clients I have a series of items that I love taking with me so I can stay connected and sometimes pass the time as well. As you guys know I'm a member of the Tablet Crew which is a great way for me to use my Samsung ATIV in my day to day life!
I use my tablet to draw sketches for my jewelry line as I love one of the programs that comes pre-loaded on the tablet, Autodesk Sketchbook Express - this is a fun program whether you're doodling or seriously making some sketches. For a number of files that come my way, it's super easy to navigate them and keep them organized with Box and Dropbox! In addition, I use my Sky Drive a lot which houses my pictures and recently I downloaded Office 365 (courtesy of the fabulous Microsoft team) that allows me to have all of my office programs (as I'm always creating something whether invoicing my clients, reading a document etc) and it allows these items to not only be in the cloud but it allows me to download this program to all of my tech (my phone, laptop and more). You can win a one year subscription of Office 365 for your very own! Simply let me know how you would use your Office 365 to keep your tech connected and to get your work done! I also love my Unit Conversion as when I'm running to my stores buying jewelry components I can convert the measurements! When I'm in some down time, I love Pianotime and Mahjong! In addition, I actually work out from my tablet as I'm doing a fun 12 week challenge for Revolt Now Fitness, each Friday I will share what I'm up to as I work on the challenges and get ready for Spring and Summer!
I'm all about accessorizing! When I first got my tablet, I spent a week trying to figure out the perfect cover for it! Interestingly enough, this tablet is slightly longer then the iPad so it doesn't fit with a lot of brands! BUT I realized that this tablet which is 11.1", can fit in cases that are perfect for Apple's laptops especially their thin ones! One of my favorite places to go to for my tech when it comes to keeping it away from harm is Piel Frama which is a phenomenal leather case house out of Spain! This morning my case finally arrived and I love that this brown leather case (which smells amazing) is almost like a folder/portfolio as my tablet can slip into it.
As you guys may know, my sister's fiance is a DJ and has spun internationally and at a lot of events here in the city! Although you will not see me doing this at any level that he is, I do love Urbanears that turns your tablet and phone into your own DJ tools where you can mix your music and feel like you're rocking it like a world class DJ! It comes in a number of colors and just fits right in my tablet and allows me to play! Of course, when playing this OR when listening to my music, Sol Republic is a must whether it's my headphones that sit on my ears or the ones I use when I'm running around that sit in my ear - it keeps the sound perfect while also allowing me to use it to talk on regardless of the kind that I am using! Finally, I can't say enough how much I love using my Go Smart Stylus which allows me to navigate my tablet from the tip of it when my fingers are tired! I'll continue to loop you in on what I use to keep me connected as it's always good to know what's out there as well as what apps are awesome!
White Rooms are a daunting task! You know that you have a blank canvas to work in but what to do with it? We thought about this idea a lot and that's when we realized that we have a number of readers from those that work in fashion, entertainment and the culinary industries! To that end, we also know that we have a number of entrepreneurials as well - many of them bloggers! It got us to thinking about creating the perfect Blogger Office - one where you can do photoshoots, do your videos, store your must haves and of course have a place for your fashion samples, beauty products and places to stage looks through the course of New York Fashion Week!
You too can join in the fun as we have cleared out our room and we're looking to take the second bedroom of my apartment and to turn it into an office and a closet. We will share our progress through pictures, posts, video and so much more! We're excited as we're also making this a branded room and will share with you the necessities that you must have in your space and what brands we're loving in order to get it! By New York Fashion Week, our space will be complete and we'll have a fab headquarter that's always ready for whatever is on our agenda! I hope you participate and show us how you rock your space out in the most optimal way! Brands that are interested in finding out how they can participate should reach out!
So obviously some back story is needed on this! I am someone who loves to work out! You've see me work with Exhale Spa to create fitness weeks where you can enjoy their services at a super promotional rate! You've also seen me post work out with some of my girls at Physique 57 thanks to my partnership with Dove and now fitness is becoming a regular thing on the site. We're kicking it off with Schick Quattro for Women, the Q Squad and Gina Lombardi and it culminates in Miami! So last week I received an email saying that the Q Squad is a group of women who represent Fashion Stylist iennifer Rade, Fitness Guru Gina Lombardi and Life Coach Gabrielle Bernstein (whose book I read and will be on this site soon). They will be working with a few bloggers (including me) over the next month to get us into shape and then to show off our work in fabulous Miami at the end of next month! I love Miami and I feel we can always learn new ways to be fit. Schick Quattro for Women is all about looking fabulous and on their Facebook Page you can get these women's tips as well as follow along with the bloggers that are in this program as well! They believe in smooth moves that enhance women's lives beyond having touchable skins and really facilitating the entire woman - mind, body and soul.
They had me at Miami but I read Gina's book and love the idea of her deadlines as many times we know that we should exhibit good health all the time but the reality is that there are deadlines such as I need to look good in 3 months for a trip, in 2 months I'm going to my reunion, I'm meeting my boyfriend's parents in 1 month or I have to land this part and the casting is in 2 weeks. Gina lays this out in Deadline Fitness and creates activities that you can do whether you use machines or don't! I am interviewing her on Mon so if you guys have questions please feel free to post them here or to send them in so that she can let you know her thoughts!
I am doing the 1 month challenge and will be kicking off the workout on Mon June 28th for 30 days straight! I have partnered with Natural Fitness which is a premium eco-fitness line as I will do the non machine workout and wanted to get their Burst Resistant Exercise Ball as well as their Soft Hand Weights (4 lbs) which I will use in lieu of dumbells! I am definitely all about eco and I love their concept "Green Your Workout. Green Our World." which is fab since not only are their products sustainable, but for each one sold, they plant a tree. They will be working with me and I will share the successes, goals, etc as I do my 30 days! If you've always wanted a partner to exercise with or someone to chat with, now you have one - let me know next week who would like to be apart of Kitten Lounge's Squad and receive special incentive for your interest and acceptance of our mission! But once the 30 is over, I will continue on as fitness is a lifestyle and you will find out about other exciting programs that I will be working with! College students, you will definitely enjoy this especially if this is your first year heading out to your new school!
I can't wait to share, Tweet, FB and to also converse back and forth with the partners on this as well! For this segment, this will appear on Thursdays as well as Saturdays up until the trip. Once the trip takes place, we will firmly have this as a Saturday segment so that you always have a place to go to for tips, great products, etc and I'm so glad to be working with everyone involved!
Now today isn't a beauty post; however, I have been a fan of Yes to Carrots for a number of years as it nourishes the body and comes at a great price point! Now I love that they are working on an important initiative beyond just being an organic beauty brand. Yes to Carrots officially kicked off the Yes to Carrots Garden Challenge! Public schools across the country have the opportunity to create video showing how having a garden in their schools would create positive change! These videos are then uploaded to the site and a winner will be selected. Not only is this something that is supported by this beauty brand but members of the EMA Young Hollywood Board as well (this includes such members as Rosario Dawson and Amy Smart). Schools can enter up to May 20th and on May 26th, Yes to Carrots Seed Fund will award a grant that will assist the school in buying seeds, plants, equipment, irrigation tools, and receiving the education to put this plan into action as a well as a year's supply of tools from Kellogg Garden Products. In addition, they will have Emmanuelle Chriqui as their garden mentor for an entire year.
With the success of having Michelle Obama creating a garden at the White House and also encouraging others to follow suit and the fact that creating a version in our own spaces - this is a great way to give back and to instill organic sensibilities of our own as well! Definitely spread the word about this and see how a school can be affected in a positive way!
We all know of Pay it Forward, doing something for someone else not for any kind of gain; however, I was recently touched by something that I wanted to share with you and hope that you can assist. The other day, a friend of mine told me the saddest story about someone who has worked in the fashion and beauty industry for a number of years and in the sake of anonimity - as she would be shocked to have her story told, I had to see if there were those who could offer assistance. This woman has helped many people in the industry by finding them amazing jobs, being a mentor and a friend. Prior to her losing her job due to the economy, she became ill with a disease and later found that she had breast cancer. Being someone who has helped so many people, it was shocking to learn that she felt she couldn't reach out to her friends and with no money, weight loss and more, she has run out of food and she even needs clothing (she is an XS).
As my friend told me this, I saw how upset she was and felt that I should reach out to my community of friends, PR people and more. Someone who has given so much to others now has so little. The outpouring of assistance that she recieved on my friend's behalf was AMAZING. To see someone from Trader Joe's who doesn't deliver offer to bring items to her and to pay for the groceries just because he wanted to assist was touching. If there are those that could help or know of someone it would be amazing. She is in the NYC area and we will continue to assist her as she continues to go through more challenges. Typically, Kitten Lounge talks about all that's fabulous and fun but we are also a HUGE believer in reaching out and getting our community together to assist others - I thank you for your time and feel free to contact me for further questions or ways that you could assist!
I have to say that I have really become a huge fan of Facebook and although I am definitely all about meeting people in real time - nothing can ever replace this, I also love the idea of being able to connect with people that you know through others who can help you in your personal and business life. I love the network and the way that people go back and forth!I challenged myself to really get into the community and spend some time there and found that there were people who have definitely assisted me in my jewelry, been a listening ear and interestingly enough - there are people who are on there that I literally work around the way from and I speak to them more on there! It's funny how this portion of life is just as important as making sure that after emailing people all day that you make an effort to pick up the phone and say hi (if you're really daring you will actually go up to them and say "hey"). Take some time to check it out and you are always free to add me!
For weeks I had heard people talking about Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert - wherever you go, if someone is reading something - this book is bound to pop up. So as I headed out for vacation, I picked this book up. Once I was above 10,000 feet, I pulled out this book and the woman next to me asked if I knew anything about it. I explained what little I knew since I hadn't really read it yet and she let me know that she didn't even finish it and that it was a bit slow. Later in the week at the pool, another woman said the same thing!
Last night I finally got to India (this is someone who can read a book in a day if it's truly engaging) and I have to say that there are moments of struggle here but I am hoping that I can get past this and find amazing gems in this story! I do like it but it is definitely a challenge at times. So today, I will continue on with this book - has anyone finished it that definitely loved it? No spoilers please!
