Mingling Mondays: Awards Season 2013 ~ Golden Globes Raya Abirached

One of my favorite designers who I have been fortunate to wear, who was included within the launch of Shoe Week and I am pleased to say is such a sweetheart and is also stunning, Aiisha Ramadan had one of her gowns hit the red carpet of the Golden Globes last night which was also her 30th birthday!

Raya Abirached wore AIISHA last night at the Golden Globes 2013. She looked stunning in this Couture champagne silk dress with a 3D beaded shoulder and looked like a Golden Globes winner herself. Raya Abirached is a Middle Eastern television presenter with the TV program Scoop and Arab's Got Talent.

Wed Wednesdays: Maid of Honor Edition ~ Romona Keveza

Right before NYFW, my sister got engaged to her fiance which gave me something amaing to add to my plate that never ends up being empty - Maid of Honor and Wedding Planner. As you know, any life event that I take on, comes here to Kitten Lounge. Prior to NYFW, Fridays contained content geared towards brides and now that Fashion Month is over, I'm pleased to share that Wed Wednesdays is dedicated to this exciting time. With an upcoming Oct wedding (next year of course), I was glad that Bridal Week took place over these past few days so that I could understand what my sister was interested in and allowed us to bond with our mom as well!

For me, no wedding search could start without going to Romona Keveza which not only does bridal but evening gowns. Above is a round up of my favorite looks that hit the runway at the St Regis Hotel over the weekend on Saturday! I have to say that we were able to enjoy seeing her affordable line - Legends, The Romona Keveza Collection and then the evening wear line. I love that there was a segment that was an ode to 007 - James Bond. Above there are dresses that I am obsessed with, such as the champagne/blush hue which is perfect for an engagement dinner, engagement party, etc. I also love (on the lower left hand corner) this ice blue (although it looked grey to me) dress. This gave me the idea that I definitely would want a wedding gown in this hue as I love grey. Of course our purpose was to see body styles that my sister liked - how could I not love the dress on the lower right which is definitely up her alley!

I can't wait to take you on our journey as official planning beging Nov 1st - come back for tips and definitely ask questions. For those who are interested in finding out how one goes about planning a wedding as well as how one goes about her duties of Maid of Honor - this is also a fab resource for you too!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Around the Corner

I love a weekend prior to a holiday! In my case, the weekend prior to a holiday means that I can get odds and ends done prior to the 4th and my upcoming travel! It's all about the perfect pot of tea (whether I sip it in the morning, chill it or add a little champagne to it) which starts off with my Breville. I'm loving Kusmi Tea especially in Detox which is a great way to kick off the day. Since this weekend is bound to be gorgeous, I want to be ready for anything whether it's a lunch or a night out so slip on this Missoni jumpsuit which reminds me of candy and all the sweetness that a weekend is meant to have. Pair this with Gerard Yosca with this fab necklace and pendant. Slip on Zariin Jewelry's Green Agate Gold. Round out the look with Givenchy and this large leather bag as it's perfect to store items that you shop for when you're out and about. Finally clad your feet in Prada to make your weekend perfection!

Mingling Mondays: SS 2012 Trends ~ Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton

Over the past few days, we have all heard about The Queen's Diamond Jubilee which celebrates Queen Elizabeth's 60 years as the Queen of England. With a number of celebrations, this was a great way to check out a number of fashionable ways to rock a look while being respectful of the decorum that this series of events requires. Kate Middleton (picture courtesy of WENN.com), rocked out in this amazing Alexander McQueen pin dress at the River Pageant Flotilla. I have seen it worn by a number of celebrities and I love the way that Kate is wearing it. She paired this with one of her favorite go to shoes - the nude pump by L.K. Bennett.

I would complete this look with the fun and compact clutch by Nina which has a nice embellishment on the top of the clasp. I would also pair these Charriol champagne diamond and bronze drop earrings. Together this is such a fab look!

If you want to get in on a celebration, you can go to a number of bars that are whipping up drinks in honor of this event! Our friends at Whitehall here in NYC (19 Greenwich Ave) have The Queen's Jubilee Cocktail made by mixologist, John McCarthy.

1 1/2 measures of U'Luvka Vodka

1/2 a measure of Lemon

1/2 a measure of St. Germain or elderflower cordial

1/2 Plymouth Sloe Gin

2 dashes of Lavender bitters 2 dashes of Rose Water

Garnished with an edible Flower

Pour all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

Shake and strain. Garnish.

Serve in Coup Glass

Mingling Mondays: SS 2012 Trends ~ Giulliana Rancic

Last week we gushed over Kris Jenner's white dress and here we go back in white! Maybe it's the fact that later on today we have the Met Ball (dubbed the Oscars of the East Coast by many will be live streamed and available on Amazon, Vogue and Metropolitan Museum of Art) where we know the fashions will be stunning (and this year you can see it streamed live) that we're even a little more excited today! Last week, Giulliana Rancic rocked this fabulous dress by Theia at E! Upfronts which looked phenomenal. As a huge fan of this media everyday girl gone glam, it's hard to suggest tweeks - but of course I am!

I'd definitely play up the blush love by adding in these amazing Casadei studded pumps. I would layer on pops of shimmer with Charriol (loving that one of these a Nordstrom exclusive) - together it's just enough bling which every girl loves! To add a little neutral, how about Nam Cho's eye popping ring with champagne diamonds? This amped up look is so G and one we're super excited aboout!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Pre-Game With Brunch

Later on today is the big game in my hometown! I would have loved to have gone back for the Super Bowl but then I think about the fact that Fashion Week is this week and I realize there is a lot to do! What I love about today is that you can enjoy normal Sunday activities such as a decadent brunch and then party it up for the game of the year. There's no excuse not to enjoy both! For those of you that are wondering what you will do to pull off your brunch segment, keep it simple! It's all about having nibbles placed on plates throughout your apartment - I'm loving Sur La Table's Kotobuki Flowing Brushstrokes Sushi Plate which allows you to use them to create little gathering spaces. For those that are looking for extra places to sit, you can't go wrong with CB2's floor cushions which make everything so much cozier. For those that opt for tea, I'm loving the vibrant color of these cups and saucers available at Bloomingdales by Jasper Conran. Bodum also has a fab teapot which is an essential and of course for those that are looking for morning cocktails, get fun glasses by CB2 and finally, bring tea, chocolates and Sunday to a new level by bringing the Salon Tea to another level with the Chocolate Truffles recipe that is provided below. Salon Tea's The Lover Chocolate Chai Tea is a natural aphrodisiac (so you can also use this as a special evening treat)

THE LOVER Chocolate Truffles (Makes approx. 24)

Ingredients:

· 2/3 heavy cream

· 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (cut into pieces and softened)

· 2 tablespoons of THE LOVER tea-chocolate Chai tea leaves

· 6 oz finest bittersweet chocolate, chopped

· 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Recipe:

Combine the cream and butter in a small saucepan and bring to boil. Stir in the tealeaves. Remove from heat and let steep for 3-5 minutes.

Put chocolate in a bowl and strain the cream mixture through a sieve over the chocolate: discard the tealeaves. Whisk the chocolate and cream mixture together until smooth, chill for approx. 2 hours until mixture is firm.

Dust your hands with a bit of cocoa (or cinnamon) then use your hands to roll the chilled chocolate mixture into balls.

Use 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons of chocolate mixture for each truffle. Drop the truffles into the cocoa, turn them until they’re lightly coated, and then place them in an airtight container. Store them in layers separated by wax paper.

Fashionable Fridays ~ Keiko Lynn & R&Em

Tuesday was a super jammed pack day with Mauboussin as well as the Mother's Day Tweet Up with the Accessories Council, I sent team Kitten Lounge over to Rebecca Minkoff's showroom for a nice evening of hanging out with Keiko Lynn as well as seeing the inaugural lookbook that she styled and appeared in for R&Em! It was a night of creating floral arrangements, seeing the line and of course enjoying champagne. See the fab collection and begin to think spring and summer with these fresh looks!

Snazzy Sundays: Travel Journal ~ Boston Love

Earlier this month I headed out to Boston to visit the headquarters of TJ Maxx and Marshalls as they brought in various influential bloggers within the digital space. Now I will have a full post about our trip which allows us to learn more about what being a #Maxxionista is but today it's about Boston. I had never been to this city before and I must say that a 40 mins flight is the best travel to get there. I was so excited about checking out The Liberty Hotel as from the site it looked great. It wasn't until I checked in and was sipping on my complimentary champagne that I was told that it used to be The Charles Street Jail! Standing in the lobby, I looked at it with new eyes and realized yes this did look like a jail and although it's 4 stars I got a little nervous until I was staying in the new part known as the tower. The second video above is the way that this hotel allows you to say that you don't want to be disturbed. You can place your Solitary key on the door. I have to say that I wanted that key as we all know that I'm obsessed with wearing them but I did leave it behind haha!

There were quite a few people that were sent out on this trip and on the first night I hung out with Bryce Gruber of The Luxury Spot, Alexis Wolford of The Beauty Bean and Daniel Saynt of Fashion Indie. I had recently met Alexis through our Miami trip at the Delano for Schick but I've known Daniel and Bryce for awhile. While eating dinner, we saw a carousel across the street and vowed that we'd take a ride. We got the last one of the night and since I forgot my camera, Daniel was awesome to take the vid but you can hear him in the back. Although the trip was overnight, it's definitely a city that I want to explore a lot more!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Wine & Nibbles

It's seriously snowing outside so you know that I'm staying in all day! I just found one of my favorite wines which you can find at Pasanella and Sons Vintners - Vigneto Saetti Lambrusco! I love that this tasted like a red wine that had a mix of champagne in it. The fact that it was organic as well definitely made it an added benefit. This is a must for yourself or for gifting (I received it as a gift). Now with a tasty wine, you need a fab glass and I have become a fan of anything that is stemless. Finally, this is best enjoyed with tasty cheese or chocolate. Today, all of the nibbles featured are available online but if you're in NYC you can conveniently shop at Pasanella and Sons, Li-Lac Chocolates and Murray's Cheese! Take some time to check this out and this is perfect for future parties.

Sippin Saturdays: Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic

By the time you read this, I will already be up and out the door with my press confirmation in my hand. I could be heading into the city or on the ferry to Governor's Island. Here I will spend the majority of my day watching the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic which makes its return to the city after 30 years! I have never been to a polo match but I truly think that horses are gorgeous and since Prince Harry will be riding, I must get an up close and personal look at the sport (yes that's it)! Paul (boyfriend and Food Editor) will also be there as the St Regis will do their traditional afternoon tea. I'm sure I will have quite a few pictures and videos to share with you guys and can't wait. This event is also open to the public, so make sure that you check out the site to find out how to get there! So check back for an update on what's going on! What could be better than a gorgeous day, an introduction to a new sport and my favorite champagne?

Sippin Saturdays ~ Photographer's Bash

At Kitten Lounge, we love covering fashion, design and items within lifestyle; however, we also love talking about those that are apart of the industry that also play a vital role within this industry. NYC photographer Meagan Cignoli’s birthday party took place at Sanctuary T. With handpainted invites in hand, dinner guests sipped champagne topped with Chamomile tea and Elderflower (which is always a fab combination). Attendees included artists and socialites who came out to support this amazing artists whose works can be seen at her site, Visual Country and include various photos from fashion, editorial and her travels. Although the party lasted well into the night, many ended with dancing and brunch at Merkato55.

Sippin Saturdays: Chicago Edition ~ Pops Champagne

This weeked I'm in Chicago and if you are avid readers of the Kitten Lounge, you know that I covered Pops for Champagne in the holiday gift guide last year. Pops for Champagne is a super cute bar that has a number of champagnes available, a great crowd and a jazz bar that has music Thurs - Sun (I definitely want to come back to watch a show as I am a fan of jazz being the great neice to tenor saxophonist, Joe Henderson). Tonight, we enjoyed the Flat Bread Lamb which was an amazing combination of lamb, garlic puree, apples and this tasty melt in your mouth flat bread! This complimented our champagne which I am sad to say, I don't know the label.

This is the kind of place that you can test your champagne knowledge or put your tastebuds in the hands of staff that can find what works best for you and what compliments your meal the best. When it comes to a great night out to begin, end or stay - this is definitely a top place in Chicago to come to. I have to say, that I wish this champagne bar would be amazing to have in NYC and maybe one day it will come here (sorry Bubble Lounge). If you're in the area - come by and yes, you can still enjoy the game!

Sippin' Saturdays ~ Have a Funky Diva on the Roofdeck

FunkydivaThis the best time of year - you know the part that you know that the weather is getting better and that you need to start thinking about what the perfect drink and place will be. When it comes to NYC, the perfect place is a roofdeck or a nice patio area. Now that choice seems easy but then again you have to decide what place has your favorite spot - when it comes to that, you're so on your own! In the meantime, for those that are rum fans - here is the perfect recipe courtesy of Cocktail Times.com. Not only are they a great place to go to get recipes for your next party, but they also have great recipes for meals that you would like to cook as well. They are definitely a go to site of sorts!

FUNKY DIVA

- 1 1/2 oz Leblon cachaça
- 1/2 oz Aperol liqueur
- 1/2 oz Grand Marnier
- dash of simple syrup
- blood orange, cut into chunks
- Champagne

With these ingredients, you're ready to make the Funky Diva; however, you'll also need to do the following which is suggested by Cocktail Times.com as well: " Muddle blood orange and simple syrup. Shake with all the ingredients except Champagne. Pour into a tall glass and top with Champagne."
