I'm not going to lie, I have loved hearing about Coco Chanel from as early as I can remember! My first intro into having Chanel was receiving Chanel No 5 for my birthday then years later I bought a pair of reading glasses with the classic Cs on the frame. Of course, I saw a recent episode of Rachel Zoe where she went to Coco's apartment in Paris, if you haven't seen it, you should check out one of my favorite blogs, Fashion is Spinach which has some images of the icons apartment! Interesting enough a couple of years ago, various bloggers were invited to go to the famous Chanel store on 31, Rue Cambon to see the apartment. Since I will be going to Paris soon, you better believe that I will want to have this opportunity as well.
What do I love so much about Coco? She knew how to do classic elegance and did it well! The modern version of her classic notes can be done in the same ways that she made famous. So an update to her look which works well from running out with the girls, meetings with potentials and more can be achieved with black leggings. I'm loving the velour stirrups which can be paired with a number of items! I love this Elizabeth and James shirt as it has an edge but a lot of femininity as well! Cap it all off with some pearls - we all know this is a huge look within the world of Chanel. These sassy takes on pearls doesn't look like you simply took your grandmother's necklaces and will definitely complete your look!
When it comes to making your outfit truly standout, the only way that this can be done (in my opinion of course), is via accessories! I love that someone could wear a cute black tank and black leggings with flip flops and they look comfortable. But then as it goes from day to night, including a studded cuff, a pair of heels and sunglasses (the days are longer so I think about my sunglasses) - now you're look simply fab heading out t wherver you've been invited. Above are two series of tones that you should think of including within your look. I love red as a great element of color. I used to never wear red as I felt a little uncomfortable; however, using it as an accessories, I like the idea of wearing red heels as in this gorgeous pair from SOS Mark. I love the black braiding! These Chanel sunglasses are a great mod look that add a bit of that color. For my Ladies of Pop, this is perfect! For those who want a neutral color but want a shoe that speaks for them, then I suggest this pair of shoes from the Tribal Collection of Casadei! I love the heel and that this is not only a peep toe shoe but has great cutouts that follow the angle of your foot. To top it off, the sunglasses by Carmen Marc Valvo (love his outfits and have been proud to attend one of his Fashion Week Shows last Sept) which has a bit of that innovative look while also being supremely casual! Take some time to think about what pops of color must be infused within your wardrobe to take your outfit from a look to one that realy shows who you are! I love it! We have yet another great giveaway this week from our friends at Hard Candy! I've always been a fan of the makeup and I am so glad that they are providing 5 perfumes to be apart of our giveaway! Today, I would love to know what your favorite scent is? Five will be chosen. I have to say that I love Chanel No 5 - it's a great classic that can be worn whenever. A few summers ago, I was all about Burberry's Tender Touch. I wore it everyday and was so sad when I no longer wore this - so it was back to Chanel. Currently, on a special night CK's Euphoria Blossom is a nice floral citrus scent that makes you feel that much cuter! Let me know your fave and we'll see who will win!
On Thurs Dec 6th, Chanel had their amazing fashion show. I must say, that when people ask me what some of my favorite designers happen to be, Michael Kors and Chanel are always up there. When it comes to the classics, Chanel is definitely one that I love! This past Thursday this Amy Winehouse style inspired runway show hit the runways with much success! Take a look at the images courtesy of Yahoo and the AP! I love this coat with the embellishment.
I have to say that I definitely love the nod to the Amy Winehouse look. It definitely gave the show an interesting look and who isn't a fan of Karl Lagerfeld's designs anyway? This show had a variety of notables in attendance including Naomi Campbell, Emma Watson and more.
I love this look simply because of the whimsy that this outfit creates! Chanel's 2007/2008 collection took place in London. In addition to the amazing show, guests arrived in cars bearing the name and logo which is an interesting touch as well.
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
