A classic dress is an essential to any wardrobe regardless of your style. When it comes to the It dress that everyone should have, I urge everyone to think about getting the classic wrap dress from Diane Von Furstenberg. It never goes out of style and it doesn't take a lot to add to it whether you're going out for drinks, heading to work etc! Of course being someone who loves accessories, you know that I can't leave you without adding a few gems! First of all make sure to have a cute heel (check my Jimmy Choo's would be perfect for this) and then think about your cute hand bag whether you opt for a clutch, hobo, etc. Finally, jewelry is always an essential. Now Nicole Ritchie has been a part of a lot of fashionable collaborations but her jewelry line, House of Harlow, is such a great boho chic line. Now what I love about this is that she is actually about to make pieces exclusively for Bebe and will be available on their site and in stores by the end of the week!
I love that although this jewelry is super cute, they're best when separated to add a little more oomph to your outfit which is perfect to mix and match everything! I love the pattern and love the tribal elements of the pieces which adds a great flavor to the classic wrap dress! Take some time to think about classic elements that you should be adding to your closet while making sure your accessories allow us to know more about your personality!
I love hump days! It's the middle of the week and a great benchmark to see what has been worked on and what can still be done with a few days ahead! As Editor in Chief of Kitten Lounge, I get an amazing opportunity to see a lot of great products and to interact with so many great showrooms, brands, designers and so much more. While in Vegas in August, I was so happy to meet Casey of Hudson Jeans (she does their Social Media and various elements of marketing) and to walk with her at ENK Shows Vegas. With so many days hitting all the shows, I started to embrace my love for the maxi dress, Ted Rossi cuffs (I never travel without a number of them), large cocktail ring and of course a cute necklace. It's the act of styling a simple look to show my personality and to present an effortless look whether I'm walking the red carpet, tradeshows, showrooms or wherever I happen to be! I'm obsessed with accessories and I love large pieces. I brought a little of a boho-chic Grecian vibe to everyday that I was at the shows (you would too if it was 100 degrees). As I walked around people asked if I styled (especially when I told them I had just completed an episode of the reality show, To Be a Star, where I was the Style Mentor/Judge for aspiring models who were learning about the importance of having a look. Although I have worked with a select group of people, work with a few showrooms in the city and have been called in on a photoshoot - it wasn't something that I really thought I was doing. But the fact of the matter is that there is no better reward than showing someone how they can take elements of their style and add to it to create an enhanced look! If you're a busy individual who loves the idea of working with someone with great relationships of designers that you may not be familiar with, want to embrace accessories (I feel that they are the outfit) and love seeing your style progression, then feel free to contact me as I would love to work with you! So the answer is yes, I'm an Editor and Stylist!
People like to know how I find out about the various designers and stores that I'm in love with. It's either that I research it, stumble on it or a source comes to me that takes all the work out of it! Yesterday, I told you about Blushless, who has a GORGEOUS dress that is made of vegan leather. I had never heard of the brand but due to my presence in various social networks, I found out about Not Just a Label! When it comes to cutting edge designers and pieces that will ensure that you stand out, this is a great place to visit to learn about new designers. I was pleased to see that Aiisha, someone who I have posted on quite a bit, is within their directory of designers although I knew about her via her publicist! Gomez - Gracia is amazingly classic and after clicking on the text within the picture to see them on Not Just a Label, you'll want to visit their site to see the classic mod style that is carpet worthy! My favorite piece is the ruffled shirt which is so chic for a launch event and what can I say about the skirt? Check out the fab looks and make sure to sign up for the newsletter for Not Just a Label so that you're inbox will let you stay in the know!
So I am heading to the Dominican for vacation with Food Editor and boyfriend, Paul. I am super excited and the 5 weeks I have to wait, can't come soon enough. With that said, I want an entirely new wardrobe and of course, I still want to buy things throughout the rest of the season. Although the economy isn't that great, I love that you can get great deals. But a deal is truly best when it lasts!
When I first came to New York 6 years ago, I happened to be shopping with my mom for a trip I was taking to Florida. I needed a Little Black Dress as I was going to a wedding. I found the perfect LBD that was classy and yet, had little cut outs in the back. You can see this dress on the right side toolbar within my group of Flickr pictures. I wore this recently at a New Years event at the Rainbow Room. That was the best $39 dollars spent and it is my go to dress and travels well too!
So that brings us to the present! This dress was purchased at Mandee and if you don't have one in your hometown, you can get it online. Currently they are doing a 20% off promotion online if you use the word BAILOUT. I think this is a great way to add a lot of items into your wardrobe and you too may have a story about how something priced so cheaply ended up being a mainstay within your wardrobe!
You know that I love shopping online, using Social Media and pretty much using the Internet in any way that I can to make life simple! Sometimes, you can feel a bit overwhelmed and as much as we want tons of choices, it makes it hard to focus on making a great decision! With that being said, I learned about Idalia last week during a special presentation (they had literaly been live for about a week). I love the fact that when it comes to product assortment, you can count on this site never being stale, always presenting new product and having a great amount of options. In a sense they have established the "happy medium" not having too much and not having too little! The diamond jewelry that they have is amazing in color, weight, style and more. When it comes to gifting whether it's for you or for someone else, you will find that they have something classy and trendy so that everyone can shop and feel that this site is like their personal stylist bringing them the best finds at one place! If you're not sure of what's good for you, you can count on their guidance by showing you what the trend is for the season and when it comes to pricing, you get an amazing luxury item at an extremely amazing price while having a site that is interactive and easy to navigate! This holiday season, build a relationship with Idalia and you'll find that you will come back over the next few months to see other great items that will be your new must have!
I love looking at presidential pictures of first ladies and of course, one of my faves was Jackie. She had a great sense of style that was timeless. So of course my eye is on Michelle and so I have decided that as apart of Fashionable Fridays, I will make sure to keep you in the know of the various looks Michelle wears. It will be interesting to see how her style will be. In a recent WWD, they suggested that the first family will be a classic presence where they will mix their high fashion with those that many of us wear. Either way with this historic family, I am interested to see how Michelle and the girls represent their style from functions to just being out and about! I would love to hear your thoughts! Of course we have to kick this off with some images of the soon to be First Lady on Election Night. I know there were some mixed reviews of the look but I thought it was powerful while being fashionable. I saw this dress hit the runway during Fashion Week - loved it then and thought it was appropriate that night as well!
I don't like to play favorites in some things but when it comes to my accessories, all bets are off. I have my go to pieces that I wear without even thinking about it and although I try a number of items - it's not an instant access into my tried and true collection. This is a hard decision and one that can't be taken lightly. You want pieces that scream you without suggesting that you were trying to hard when putting everything together. So when deciding upon new jewelry, I like to go with that which has a lot of style and I have to say that K. Amato is one of those designers.
No matter what piece you're looking at you get the notion that the pieces are classic while also being on trend. This isn't exactly an easy balance to strike but you will find it here! One of my favorites is The Chicago. Those of you who know me and have been out with me know that I am a sterling silver girl at heart. But there is something about this Oval Filagree piece that brings out your inner regal sensabilities and makes you want to pair it with cowl neck boucle sweaters, tunics paired over leggings and so much more as we go into the fall. At the same time, it's also perfect for the summer or any vacation spot. Ah The Chicago with all its Jazz, it just might be one of the tried and true that you've been looking for. Take some time to check out more pieces to fill up your jewelry case!
Today is a busy day! I woke up this morning thinking that my boyfriend and Food Editor of Kitten Lounge, Paul, will be attending a foodie event which will find its way on next Monday's post! Of course I will attend this afternoon after going to a few meetings myself which will include info for Island Fashion Week, my clothing line and the lines of others. Of course, all of this will end with us hanging out at a bar to watch Paul's beloved Jets (and I will enjoy watching Brett as well). So this morning is definitely key as we tie up a lot of loose ends and start projecting the rest of this year (how crazy is it that we are close to the beginning of a new year??). We will be confirming a future weekend trip which will make its way on this site and so much more.
So when it comes to a busy day where I will be running around, I definitely like to have something enjoying - I will start with my flavored Green Tea and maybe have a nibble of Madeleines! I love this soft cookie and I will make these this holiday season. Of course, I had to go online to check out some great recipes and Milk and Cookies Blog has a nice orange infused taste, Yumsugar had the classic and Taste of Home has a nice hazelnut one as well. What a great way to create some great variations off of the classic recipe! I knew these were amazing when I gave some to Paul one afternoon and he declared it his favorite (I couldn't believe he had never had one). Anywho - I can't wait to share a lot of the goodies that are going on on the site and as soon as I can I will let you know. Until then, treat yourself to a Madeleine!
Happy Fourth of July everyone! Hopefully you will be spending today going to some great parties, having drinks and much more. A few weeks ago, Diane Von Furstenburg presented their Resort 2009 collection. First off, you know that I love DVF and this is my favorite dress of the entire collection. There is something to be said for classic lines, interesting prints and the use of classic colors too! All of that put together makes for a classic look that is also dynamic which will let you stand out. These pictures and more are available on Coutorture so that you can get a sneek peek on her resort collection and additional designers as well.
I am such a huge fan of Michael Kors. I love his classic American style and the fact that Michael has clothes that have that modern feel with elements of old world Hollywood glamour. Watching clips from this years Fashion Week runway show, you can definitely see that look within his collection. I love that this year there is an element of the American Jet Set group. I love the warm caramel colors and it seems like a touch of the 60's brought forward. Enjoy the footage courtesy of Coutorture and I definitely love seeing the accessories (most of you have seen me in my MK sunglasses and gloves).
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
