Swoonfest Saturdays ~ NBC's Fashion Star Fabulous Hues

Last week I had to share one of the favorite looks that was created by Johana from NBC's Fashion Star. This week she was paired with Daniel again as they had to create separate pieces that are meant to be worn together in order to create a cohesive look! Yet again, I was all about Johana's look as her pencil skirt was perfection and I love Daniel's tops! During the show, there were three distinct variations that made it on the runway; however, when it came to production (as Saks actually bought both), you can see that they have a blush/black ensemble as well as a black/white combo. The beauty of this look is that they look fabulous separately but when placed together, it's as if you have a dress!

Roll over the images to see how I would accessorize the above in terms of shoes and handbags! In addition, see how these items are a universal for your accessories and how you can include it within other looks that you plan on wearing during this season and the next! You'll find these accessories consist of Reed Krakoff, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Stephanie Cesaire.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Beauty Hits the Red Carpet

A great color in your favorite accessory is also a nod towards a hue that could work with you in your makeup routine! With the Oscars taking place this weekend, there are bound to be a number of beauty looks that will be great takeaways. We'll be tweeting the looks of the runway on Sunday starting at 1:30pm EST and would love for you to share what you're looking forward to seeing, what you think will be trending or what you thought should have been added!

ACCESSORIES INSPIRATION

Personally, I'm loving Coral! This hue has quite a range as it can be a bold vibrant color as you would find in this Giuseppe Zanotti heels which is a vibrant pink with a slight red element in it all the way down to a hue that has more of a dust rose/dust blush in a toned down version of coral like these Steve Madden heels which are perfect to accent your fab pedi and ankles!

GET THE BEAUTY LOOK

With such a wide range and so many options (I don't even want to tell you how many lipglosses, shadows and blushes I have within this range of hues), there are a number of ways to bring this look into your face to warm up your skin and to create the sunkissed look that I love wearing when I am on TV segments or that you see your fave celebs rocking. With the nail polishes, if you're going to go coral it has to be bold and although Essie has a number of polishes within this hue that are just slightly different from one another but still having major impact, this one in Geranium is a fave without a doubt! This is perfect for the days of being out and about, hitting the beach and just a fun color in general.

The lips are an essential when I'm on air as I love to do a lip cocktail (mixing a number of shades together to get the perfect pout). Within lipglosses, I'm loving Glazed Lips in Sheer Deep Coral and I love the subtle nature of DuWop's Venom Gloss Coral Tree. For the ultimate in lip color, Yves Saint Laurent has the perfect stain in Extreme Coral. For a shade that's in the middle of vibrant and subtle hues, Tom Ford's True Coral is a great option as well. Line your lips or fill it in as a layer with Colorescience's lip pencil in Coral Life's a Peach.

It's all about the cheeks and having those amazing cheek bones with great blush. For subtle style mavens I suggest Bobbi Brown's Coral blush which has a bit of shimmer. For those who wish to go bolder, I suggest Revlon's Photo Ready Cream Blush in Coral Reef. As a side note, I use a number of corals on my cheeks so those with mid to darker skin tones shouldn't be afraid to have blush that fits in the dark pink to berry tones. In many cases, I actually mix is in with a bronze hued bronzer to tone it down so you have the hint of pink or coral hue coming out which makes your skin look illuminated!

Fashionable Fridays: NYFW FW2013 ~ Your Pantone Colors

It's another cold day here in NYC and we're in day 2 of NYFW! Although many wonder weather the blizzard could cancel shows, my fingers are crossed as this weekend I have quite the schedule and hope to see the shows. If you've ever wondered how the whole fashion community seems to be in sync in terms of colors that are in stores within each season, I have one word - Pantone! This is a great resource of colors in general but more importantly to let you in on the trending colors you should keep an eye out for. Although many designers have hit the runway and there are more to come, here are the key hues that will be huge in Fall 2013 and some peeks into what designers are doing within these colors.

My favorite hues of this grouping includes, Deep Lichen Green, Mykonos, Turbulence, Koi and Vivacious. Next week, I will be at Bibhu Mohapatra and can't wait to see the use of Koi (its great that the past seasons have been embracing orange hues such as Clementine and Tangerine), feminine hues such as Vivacious with Tadashi Shoji and Acai with Trina Turk. If you want to see your favorite designer or learn more about the hues that will be big in this season, check out the Pantone Color Fashion Report Fall 2013.

Fashionable Fridays: Win It ~ Chic & Layered

This winter season can be a challenge from surprisingly warm days to down right chilling to the bone temperatures! How do you dress for something like this? It's all about layers and great pops of color. I love a neutral palette and believe in mixing white, black and grey together. The versatility of this look allows you to go all over and throughout your day without wondering if you're appropriately dressed no matter the impromptu situation.

I love a great pair of skinny jeans and this pair from Paige Denim and add a fab white tank that can be dressed up and down by Rag and Bone is a fab look. Complete the look with a great rolled cardigan in grey from Ralph Lauren Blue Label. A fab pair of ankle boots add a nice touch to the look by Saint Laurent.

Of course, I'm all about accessorizing and love adding in fab embellishments to jazz up this look. All of these pieces have notes of silver, Mother of Pearl and quartz. Although I'm not a watch person, I do like this Michael Kors timepiece. Layer on a Chan Luu bracelet that adds in another subtle hue. I love this Mother of Pearl necklace which has a great depth of texture as a way to bring in an old world charm as well as being very modern. Finally, I love this quartz and diamond ring by Sandra Dini.

Finally, it's all about the bag - with this winter season that will soon transition into Spring, you have to have a pop of color and you know that I'm a huge fan of Linea Pelle as I love their rich leather, fab embellishments and amazing colors. This Dylan Medium Tote is a lovely yellow and I have been carrying this body style in the fall. I love that you can fit so much in here (many times I have my laptop in my bag and all of my tech goodies)! So kicking off today, you have the chance to win this fabulous bag and a winner will be announced on Feb 7th (the first day of NYFW) so that you can begin building your closet on the way to great style!

Win this great bag by visiting Linea Pelle and making sure that you sign up for their newsletter. Trendy Thursdays: Pre NYFW Beauty Prep ~ Paul Innis

Avon's Makeup Artist, Paul Innis Gets Us NYFW Ready

With NYFW days away, I always think about how to rock fun makeup looks that will look amazing from sitting at the tents to a number of activities that follow during this time! As you know, I'm a Brand Ambassador for Avon and I absolutely adore, their Makeup Artist, Paul Innis. Who better then him to tell me about great looks that can be worn and of course how to get it!

Get the Look – Purple Pop

During Fashion Week, sometimes you need a bold and dramatic look that will turn a lot of heads! For this look I took inspiration from my mother and the way she wore makeup in the 90's. This is definitely a look for someone who isn't afraid of a little color!

Start by using Avon's 8-In-1 Eye Palette in Water Colors. Using the lilac shade in the palette, sweep the shadow from the base of the lashes to your brow bone.

Take the medium blue shade and fill in a little above the eye crease to the base of the lash line. Using the darker blue shadow, line the lower lash line on top and under the eyes.

Add Avon Glimmersticks Eye Liner in Blackest Black all around the lash line, both top and bottom, and then smudge it with Avon’s Ergonomic Eye Liner Brush. Complete the eye by rimming the inside of your entire eye with your liner and applying Super Drama Mascara in Black to your lashes.

Add a nude lip using Avon Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Sheer Naturale and coat with Ultra Color Rich Brilliance Lip Gloss in Pink Icicle.

Finish off this dramatic look by adding blush to your cheekbones. A strong eye and nude lip can wash you out, so to prevent this apply the right amount of blush once the rest of the look is complete.

Get the Look – Kiss & Makeup

Fashion Week can be so hectic and exhausting and this stunningly simple look is quick and easy to apply so you wont be late for any shows! This look is inspired by natural beauty with just a hint of flirty sex appeal.

Apply a moisturizer and foundation best suited to your skin type and tone.

Set the look with Avon Ideal Flawless Loose Powder. Then add a cream blush, such as Avon Be Blushed Stick - for oily skin try a powder blush like Avon Ideal Luminous Blush.

Take Avon Eyeshadow Duet in Dusk or Maize. Use the neutral color and apply all over the eye lids and into the crease.

Use Avon Glimmersticks Eye Liner in Cosmic Brown and smudge into the top of your eye. Finish with a light coat of Super Drama Mascara in Brown Black.

To finish this stunning look, use a vibrant and flirty shade to make you look extraordinary! The model in this image is wearing Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Pretty.

Fashionable Fridays: Python Trend ~ Year of the Snake

Feb 10th, the Chinese New Year will have arrived and it will be the "Year of the Water Snake". Now I am not personally a fan of snakes; however, anyone who knows me knows I LOVE python. There's something about the texture, hues and how luxe it looks whether it's on a handbag, a pair of heels or around your wrist. It's a must have material to have in your closet without a doubt; moreover, I love all the colors that it comes in as well! here are a few must have items that will allow you to play up the most casual of looks as well as to enhance something that is truly stunning!

Marie France Van Damme is known for her apparel, swimwear and of course fab accessories. I love her fold over totes ($550) as well as black and gold clutch ($550) as these are great and perfect whether you're rocking a shirt dress, wrap dress or a simple maxi! Ruthie Davis takes python from its classic hues to watercolor in her Sanibel creation with these vibrant heels in sherbert resort tones.

I'm all about wrist bling and it doesn't always mean stones, this Yosef H Antique Trunk Collection ($180) in rich red with closure hardware is a conversation stunner.

As always, I do look at an alternative as sometimes you see the texture you want, but it may not be the skin of interest. When it comes to that, I am known to swap python for crocodile as it still has a great look and is still fabulous to add a pop of nuvo glam within the overall look. Of course, it's also important to have the ultimate statement bag that can carry a number of things without looking like you're lugging your world (people are always stunned by how heavy my purse is) and how can you not do this in fabulous grey from Nancy Gonzalez ($2750). Together, all of these items ensure that winter, spring and seasons beyond will be perfectly accessories forward no matter where you're off to.

Infusing Great Gatsby Style Into Your Look

GG-06432r: CAREY MULLIGAN as Daisy Buchanan and LEONARDO DICAPRIO as Jay Gatsby in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' drama "THE GREAT GATSBY," a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Photo courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

The Great Gatsby, Scott F. Fitzgerald`s famous novel about the roaring 1920s, has inspired a look all its own. Meant to be a blend of modern style with the fashion earmarks of the novel`s decade, getting the Great Gatsby look is all about accessories and pairings.

Hairpieces

A sparkling hairpiece that stands out is a must-have part of the Great Gatsby look. For example, try a jeweled headband with ornate etchings or an accent stick with a jeweled end placed through a hair knot.

When you`re looking for hair accessories, make sure you`re sticking to pieces that reflect the time period. Dull golds, silver and diamonds are the best way to go. Clear gemstones were more common than colored ones in the hair accessories of the era.

For headbands, try to find bold, swirly patterns as opposed to the traditional U-shaped style. Hairpieces were immediately noticeable in the 1920s and should not be easily hidden by your hair.

Jewelry

Pearls are a surefire way to introduce the Great Gatsby look into your style, especially long and knotted strands. Choose traditional pearl colors, such as white and pink. Darker colored pearls were not common in the 1920s.

Earrings and rings should be "baubles," or large and noticeable. Pearl and diamond accents are preferable with silver or neutral tone dresses, but look for colored gemstones if you`re going with a color theme. For example, if you have a green dress and shoes, you can use accenting emerald-hued stones in your jewelry pieces to set your entire outfit off.

Dresses

A traditional flapper dress is beaded and should make some noise when you move around in it. While the dresses vary in length, often showing the knees, cleavage was often minimal. Look for dresses with higher fronts and a rounded or uneven bottom to get the correct look. Fringe is a must in a dress in the Great Gatsby style.

You have a wide range of colors available, depending on what level of Great Gatsby style you`re aiming for. If you want to go bold, try reds, golds and greens. For a more traditional look, stick to silvers, grays and variations of light brown, such as gold and shiny tan.

Accessories

Gloves, feathered boas and cigarette holders and cases were all popular in the 1920s. If you decide to go with gloves, stick to basic colors in a satin material. Gloves should be full length, past the wrist.
Purses were smaller and often matched the dress in the 1920s. Look for beaded or fringe purses, particularly clutches or other small evening purses, to complete your look. Try to find a purse that matches or complements the colors present in your dress.

Shoes

Heels were a part of most flapper outfits, particularly high heels in a traditional style. While not as comfortable as the sneakers on Etnies Shoes, higher heels in a neutral shade are preferable for the Great Gatsby look. Try on heels beforehand so you go the highest you can without being uncomfortable.

Mingling Mondays: FW2012 Trends ~ Carly Rae Jepsen

This Thanksgiving, we got a fab surprise, we actually saw the parade from our windows. I loved being able to see the preview as it made its way down 6th avenue! As many of you know, Hello Kitty is one of my favorite characters and seeing her balloon glide down the street was so much fun! As is typical during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (which was in its 86th year of running on a gorgeous day in NYC), there are a number of performances that take place. Carly Rae Jepsen sand one of her songs and bundles up while showcasing pops of color! Many times when people think of what they will wear, it becomes a little tougher when it comes to dressing for colder temperatures. To show pops of different colors, how about rocking spring/summer tones in the fall/winter - it's a great way to stand out and for Carly, it keeps her looking sweet!

I'm loving these Marc by Marc Jacobs coral leggings which are comfortable to stand at long periods on a float, traveling or shopping. When it comes to your outerwear, how can you not love this Michael Kors cape style, double breasted belted coat. I think this is such a timeless look and provides structure and comfort to the outfit. This way, she is able to perform while showcasing a specific style as opposed to one that suggests that she is wearing a coat to stay warm. Lengthen your leg and show the look pulled together with these over the knee boots by Steve Madden. We love that she is popping in a rocker style element to her look and these boots with their buckle detailing will assist in the look. If you're singing, you have to have a fab statement ring as your hand will be on the mike - so I suggest this multi stone ring by Stephen Dweck. Finally, a hat is a fab way to cap off your look. I am not a fan of the black hat that Carly wore and would have opted for this Mischa Lampert Beanie XL Hat which blends in grey (yes I love mixing neutrals) and this coral hue!

Mingling Mondays: FW2012 Trends ~ Garcelle Beauvais

I'm loving how Garcelle Beauvais came to The 3rd Annual Autumn Party Feature a fashion show by J. Mendel Benefitting the Children's Institute, Inc. at The London in West Hollywood. We love how she rocked out her black cocktail dress with this bolero, simple clutch and a pop of color for her heels. Her earrings are absolutely stunning! I'm a huge believer in wearing a fabulous necklace and bringing in an additional texture to the look. This cluster necklace from Donna Karan is a great way to merge the hues together and to bring another layer of fall into this look. I love her look when it comes to her lip and to achieve it would apple NARS Cosmetics Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil (obsessed) and Dream Creams Lip Palette from Laura Geller which allows you to layer on another dynamic shade on top (which is a great way to get your desired lip).

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Olive Luxe

I am such a fan of olive as it's perfect year around but as we get closer to fall, I embrace this hue even more! Today's look is inspired by a very large love of mine pony hair and python! I'm loving these Givenchy Camel Suede Pony Hair platform pumps. Because I love a bit of that monotone look, how about these Utzon Natural leather leggings which are super slimming on your legs. I had to pair this with the Nancy Gonzalez Tassel Dome Bag which is such a great color and perfect for the change in seasons. Include this Givenchy draped top which is perfect for going out and brunching. I love that you can pair this with a fabulous necklace from Becky Kelso with an olive pendant. To continue bringing in these neutrals, I love this Coralia Leets bracelet and I like how it is balanced with Jamie Joseph quartz ring which is hand faceted and with diamonds. Finally, accessorize with your polish by including this olive/gold hue from Butter London and is known as Wallis!

As I write this, I can't believe that NYFW is a month away and that my co-founder and I will be launching Shoe Week. Snazzy Sundays ~ Settee Your Decor

Although I have used beauty and accessories to establish the tone of your decor, there are times when decor inspires decor! I have been obsessed with this Louisa Settee couch available at Anthropologie for weeks. Partly because my sister loves her blues and also because I love a number of the hues that run through this couch that allows you to play with color within your home. This color is fab for your living room as you can include this fab lamp available at Horchow and can either maintain the classic look of your apartment or allows you to pop in a fun modern element for a chic apartment. Mingling Mondays ~ Fabulous Bound

Although we're settling into a series of winter weeks, I can't help but get excited about warmer destinations that I will head to over the next few months. So, I'm always building an all seasons wardrobe! Right now, I'm all about the color known as 'tomato'. This color is not red or orange but a delicious hybrid of the two together. I'm obsessed with Rachel Pally's Leighton Dress which is perfect for west coast and south beach parties that have a phenom boho chic style!

This begs to be worn with these fab Christian Louboutin's tomato cork heel patent leather peep toe pumps! Round out this look with Virgins, Saints and Angels San Benito Magdalena necklace which is perfect to pair with this dress and to add a few stones within it. Slip on Claudia Lobao's citrine and python ring which is a fab way of playing all these fab hues. Chan Luu has a wrap bracelet that plays up the gold tones and yet maintains the boho chic style. Finally, I love that Ghibli's python satchel bag is decadently lush and works well with a number of outfits no matter what style you're looking to rock.

Mingling Mondays ~ Turkey Day Fashion 1

This week, I'm sharing some fun fashionable items that you can wear on Thanksgiving! Whether you're hosting, attending family dinners, hopping or going out to eat - you still have to show up wearing something and there are so many options! This year, we're hosting so of course there is a lot of excitement and work - with a short week, everything is accelerated. My inspiration for today's look comes from my every growing love of kaftans! I love that they flow and although they come in long and short options, I love this one from Pucci that blends vibrant color (perfect as it is truly seasonless). I love the blend of yellow and wine so I carried this through the entire look when it comes to accessories!

Slip on Alberto Juan's garnet ring which is such a rich look. This Imperial Jasper cuff available at Anthropologie, has such a fab natural look to it and yet embraces the golden goddess look. Rock these amazing Fendi cutout platform booties as whether you're at home or not, a heel is always nice to have. Virgins, Saints and Angels has fab earrings that complete the look and on the chance you decide to step out for espresso or drinks after your lavish dinner, grab your clutch by Rochas as you're a cab away from the next stop on your Turkey Day list!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Charcoal Blush Inspires

I'm already thinking of Thanksgiving from what I'm wearing, how the table should be set and of course what is being served. I'm super pumped that I have started picking out color themes based on some of wardrobe choices and today I present charcoal and blush or neutral tones. As you can see from this Bottega Veneta gown, I love the extremely chic but easy flow of this dress that has a dominant grey/charcoal color as well as color blocking with the neutral in this fab racerback style. This look can definitely be seen and utilized throughout your home.!

We start off with your table which can be set via Thomas O'Brien who has an entire set of charcoal matte settings! Before guests sit at your table to chow down, make sure that they enjoy some cheese on these fab Marble Cheese Boards from Velocity and Design. Lay out more appetizers on this custom buffet from Ethan Allen which has the fab distressed wood and maintains the charcoal look as well.

Guests can enjoy lounging in between and after meals by resting on this Louis XV Sleigh Back Chaise from Restoration Hardware. This elegant furniture can have a bit of that boho chic vibe by throwing on these French Grain Sack Linen Pillow Covers which are also available at Restoration Hardware. Together you have an effortless but chic look that all your guests will enjoy as you move throughout your space during holiday season.
