Earlier this week, I headed over to the offices of HSN to check out a number of items that will be on today and tomorrow in conjunction with Disney's March 8th release of Oz the Great and Powerful! As you know, I'm a huge fan of HSN as I have appeared on the network a number of items on behalf of a brand and they have quite the history of creating special collaborations whether it's Snow White and the Huntsman or True Blood! The current event brings a number of designers (over 50 brands of fashion icons and HSN partners with over 400 products) together from fashion designer Naeem Khan, luxury accessories designer, Carol Brodie and makeup line, Urban Decay! It's amazing to see how designers and brands brought together various inspirations from the movies to the product assortments. You'll find motifs from the movie such as hot air balloons, all the way to items that reflect each of the witches of Oz - Theodora, Evanora and Glinda in the movie. If you're looking to bring this within your home decor, there are a number of items in this category as well. Visit HSN in order to see the times that these items are going on air over the next couple of days and then also go online to shop if you can't wait!
I start my days during NYFW checking to see how my schedule needs to be updated as there are always invites that come in, media lounges to attend and a few other appearances that I am asked to go to. I spend the days prior to Fashion Week lining up my closet with items that will be perfect for all these events as my days send me running from tents and this season I will be launching my line as well. But no matter what, I have my basics that get me through the 9 days of madness. Some items are my tried and true such as my Cocoa Butter which keeps my skin enriched and soft, I also love my NARS Body Glow which gives a nice hue and my Urban Decay 24/7 as I believe in black eyeliner. Now I have an entire new arsenal series of beauty products that are a must and will carry me through this season.
I love love love M.A.C.'s Semi Precious Mineralize Eyeshadow which is a nice way to add a little something to my eyes, I fell in love with NP Set after listening to Napoleon Perdis show a small group of us his new made for Target collection before I went off to HSN and of course I have been a fan of Coach Poppy Fragrance so now having the rollerball that has their new scent in there as well as the previous one is always nice to refresh me between shows.
When it comes to my accessories, I can never go wrong with any of the Virgins, Saints and Angels rings as it's a great way to add wow factor to my hands (since I gesture a lot and they look amazing in pictures), I'm also all about stilettos and am obsessed with Vince Camuto at the moment especially anything that is studded (doesn't matter if I'm in leggings or if I am in a super cute dress) and finally Rebecca Minkoff's M.A.B. in python is the cutest satchel that can allow me to take all of my goodies along with me and yet remain so stylish!
Most people know that I don't spend a million hours putting on a pretty face. It's all about quick items that give my face the perfect glow. Of course my eyelinerfrom Urban Decay 24/7 is essential to enhance your face. I'm a huge lover of Studio Fix M.A.C. Cosmetics which is N9 and makes my face look perfect without looking like my face has a lot of makeup on. Whether I opt for the liquid version or the powder both are amazing and make my face look phenomenal. I love Armani's Beauty Eyes in eyeshadow five the perfect shimmer for sunkissed looks. Lips pop with Laura Geller's Lip Palette. Who doesn't love the rosy hues that make your lips have the perfect pluckable look. Of course, the most important part is shimmer which can be applied over the cheeks as well as other key areas on the face which looks phenom in Bobbi Brown's shades of pinks.
Now that we are definitely in the fall season, it's a must that we update our look and even take some new notes in terms of our makeup! Once again we check in with FLIRT!. Holly hosts another fab video which allows us to make a new look in an easy way and of course you can check out the entire FLIRT! It Girl You Tube channel in order to see previous videos as well!
You all know that there are various people that I love talking about and when one of them is in your group of besties, it's fun to share fab news. Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot sat down with Holly Berness of FLIRT! Cosmetics to talk about well - flirting! Find out how you can take your game to the next level by watching this fun video! In addition you can follow Jeannine Morris @BeautySweetSpot as well as @FLIRTitGirl as well!
I was introduced to FLIRT! a few weeks ago at an amazing beauty dinner during Fashion Week. It's a cute and girly collection that has a lot of colors that you're going to love. I'm obsessed over the polishes that they have. Yesterday, they launched a series of videos that show how you get the look! We are super excited to bring it to you guys each week and we can't wait to share with you who will be on the videos each week. We definitely have a friend of Kitten Lounge's on there so we'll let you know! In addition to catching it here, you can also go on their You Tube channel and subscribe as well as follow them on Twitter @FLIRTItGirl! Just in time for Halloween, today's video looks at Sexy Sorceress and Flirty Fairy for those of you that already know what you will dress as.
Last night was an amazing evening with Iman! To a select group of bloggers, she walked us through her cosmetic collection and answered our questions! Now today is not a beauty post per se but I loved her concept that her line is about great minimal coverage that doesn't hide our fab hues, it evens out our skin tone to one color and most importantly her line is not about focusing on people of color but skins of color. We all have various tones and hues and to know that her line has at least 14 shades is AMAZING. I was so excited to see various writers who had a difficult time finding their shade, find it yesterday and the look that they had was priceless. Sitting so close to Iman was truly an amazing experience as she is absolutely gorgeous but even she shared that "Iman doesn't look like Iman" and that her focus was to create a line at a reasonable price point, that was available at various drugstore retailers, with testers and to even send her makeup team to these locations to show people how amazing the line is and easy to use. Enjoy hearing a few words from this serious business woman and begin thinking of ways that you can enhance you while not covering up the best elements of yourself! PS - her stacked bangles were amazing and once I receive pictures from this night you will see Iman and I together as well as other goodies and I will let you know how easy it was for me to work with the products!
The past couple of days have been chaotic, transformative, inspirational and at times emotional. There are definitely changes coming for the better and in a post later on today, I'll share this as I have met so many people recently that are on the same page as me and have basically validated a lot of things that I have been thinking about over the past two months; however, that's another topic! As I ran around yesterday from client consultations, presentations and finally to LOFT's fall preview (I have to say that I was shocked and amazed at many of the items that will be in their stores and it's a good thing - Joe Zee, Creative Director of Elle, also agreed as well as I literally turned into him before I headed over to the next series of displays) - my mind couldn't stop thinking about today. Yes I have a million things to do today but more importantly, I'm meeting with Iman. What can you say about this striking catwalk model who turned her looks and passion for fashion into an empire of cosmetics, The Color of Beauty (great coffee table read) and her own line on HSN!
There have been a lot of events this week that I have been excited so I'm glad to keep the good events going. So in the midst of everything, above are fab items that I will be wearing as I haven't exactly picked the right outfit yet although I do know my accessories (yeah Alexis Bittar). I'm obsessed with Body Scrubs and this one from Dermadoctor is one of my favorites and they just launched on QVC yesterday so if anyone got the chance to talk with Dr Audrey Kunin, I'd love to know what you asked her! Of course I'm wearing gloss from Iman's collection as I would feel bad not supporting her since I will be at her event! Last month at my visit to Natori's home to hear about her Essentials Collection, I found out about her amazing perfume and if you are a fan of Chanel No 5(which was my initial fave), this is a scent that at first reminds you of it and then takes it to a complete 3.0! I love the black orchid and that really rich plum tone to it - it's like exotic empress! Finally, Sue Devitt Beauty has an amazing collection and as her line if reminiscent of the islands, I love her Kilimanjaro collection which is brand new. I definitely want to go for this fab island look and of course will share all the details of this event and will have my Flip at the ready!
You'll find that on some things, I'm like a broken record. If you've even read my blog for half a second, you know that various posts on Thursdays talk about Purple Lab as I was a huge fan of Huge Lips, Skinny Hips and then SWAC! In addition to what I love about the line, I love that they always take it to the next level! But if you haven't seen them before, you need to make sure that you tune into HSN! My friend, mentor and one of besties, Creatrix, Karen Robinovitz of Purple Lab will be launching her line on HSN! You'll see who won her model contest to appear on air, you'll see Karen chatting about the line and you'll be in a fab space chatting with various fashionistas that have as much of a passion for beauty as you do! In addition to the fab line, you have the opportunity to be at shopping parties all over the country and if you're in NYC, I would love for you to hang out with myself and various bloggers! Bring your laughter, can do spirit and of course your card to help support this stylish woman who has a cosmetic line that is inspiring! I can't wait to see you guys and I will keep you updated on what's going on. I'll see you at The Meet at 101 Crosby St. If you have yet to RSVP, contact their head of PR Sharon to ensure that you're on the list!
Whether your stingy, able to share or your thinking gifting - you can never go wrong with a Beauty Bundle. Beauty Bundles is a term that means beauty gift sets (or at least to me). If I love a brand I like having more than just one of something and even if a few shades may not work for me, then you can place them in a gift for someone else. You're not only passing on the gift of beauty and good taste but it's just good Girlonomics! Whether this means that it goes in as a stocking stuffer or becomes a thank you when you're staying with one of your girfriends half way across the country (I'm know as the person who when packing, I pack up a lot of product that I'm sent to my friend who I'm staying with during a trip).
Today's goodies are brands that I could not go without! You know that I'm super passionate about Purple Lab's Huge Lips, Skinny Hips gloss as my lips stay super moisturized and the smell is so yummie - you feel like a glamazon just applying it!. I became obsessed this time last year with the 24/7 Eyeliner from Urban Decay. My eyes are ALWAYS lined with their Kohl color. If I happen to go to a Sephora and they have run out of that color, I will stalk every Sephora in the city to get it! Nars Cosmetics is another passion that I have for almost 2 years! I love their body polish which keeps me glowing, their eyeshadows, gloss and more but I also love their nail colors as well. Any shade that has a pop of vixen in it, I'm all over it. Finally, when it comes to Sephora, I could spend all my hours in there with so many brands to play with. In addition, I love their private line as well. Many times when I'm unsure of a color I start with their brand as they have so many colors!
Whatever your reason, buying a few things here and there and having multiples is an awesome way to build your beauty cases or massive trunks - whichever way you organize it! Start thinking about gifting yourself and others this holiday season!

Absolutely flawless and knowing that I have a photoshoot coming up on Oct 10th, I know I would love to have him on site! Being away last week really made me feel relaxed. There is nothing like the island sun to get your mind at rest. While I was on vacation, people wondered how I had the sun kissed look regardless of whether it was day or night. In addition many ask me what I think about using certain brands. Whatever your interest, I have a selection of products that I love and couldn't imagine not going with me on my trp. From Urban Decay, I have some great items that were placed witihn one of my favorite makep bags, Stephanie Johnson.
Today was an interesting day which also explains my delay in sending out the post. It has been a rainy but productive day! Today I was apart of a taping that will be on CBS and included sometime next week. With the holidays being around the corner, I enjoyed being fitted into great looks that would be perfect for a festive occassion and I love that most of my makeup came from NARS. When it comes to makeup, I'm pretty basic in the sense that I love playing up my eyes but I don't know all the fancy tricks so as I sat in Space NK's studio, I chatted up David asking him what he was doing and how I could do it on my own (yeah I don't know about that).
When he finished off my look, NARS Body Glow on my skin. I have seen this so many times and always thought it would be too gold but interestingly enough (and thankfully), I found it to be the perfect shimmer that could not only be worn at night but in the day as well! This is definitely on my wish list and speaking of, there are two additional items that I think would make great gifts! I love the NARS Velvet Matte Lip set as it comes with a trio of pencils and a pencil sharpner (I love when I have that included so that I don't have to run trying to find it in my local Sephora). I also love the NARS lipgloss collectionn as you never know what mood you're in (I also like if you have friends over and they don't have a gloss you have enough to share). For me, I am never without MAC and now NARS which are my makeup musts when you see me out and about. When the show airs, you'll see what NARS products David used!
October is an amazing month where temperatures begin to cool. you begin thinking of the holidays and so much more. But this month is also about Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well. Although various companies support this ongoing effort, October is a time where you hear about what companies are doing in terms of awareness and research. On this site we also have the Pink Lounge where we will continue to highlight products that you can purchase in order to support the cause and within this post, purchasing these items assist Breast Cancer Organizations. Tan in a Can from Model Co (you could also win one of these during our giveaway) is an item that you can purchase. While you stay golden, portions of the sale of this item will support someone else. In addition, Therapy Systems Gentle Scrub is also apart of this fight as well. Keep an eye out for these items and more so that you ensure that you make your dollars count.
Ah hump day is almost over but I wanted to announce the winner of the Mommie Giveaway for Lucky Me Tees! Congratulations Hip Mom. I will reach out to you so that we can send you a super cute shirt! You have one more day to leave your comments on our giveaway that ends tomorrow - for Model Co Cosmetics. These winners will be announced on Friday! I just wanted to run this by everyone as I am working on odds and ends after watching Project Runway and Lipstick Jungle! Finally, for those that love dressing up, there is a party coming up where I think it would be fun to meet other readers from this site, Twitter and more. I will include more details within the next few days but the party will be on Oct 25th. Have a great night and I am on Twitter for about another hour or so!
Last night I went to the Millenium Hotel's Hudson Theater to attend the Modern Romance Bridal Event. Now before anyone starts spreading stories, I am not engaged nor does that seem on the immediate horizon; however, I know it will happen one day and I am a fan of various Bridal shows and in lieu of hearing from people on Twitter, those I have lunch with and more announcing their engagements, I felt that this was something that I wanted to know about. Now I have attended many bridal events which are bona fide tradeshows where there are booths of the same types of services that are run by various companies, I would find this very overwhelming and difficult in terms of just focusing on the moment,. I wasn't sure what I was walking into but I was very intrigued to not only attend the event but to also see the Jenny Yoo Collection which I am familiar with many of her dresses.
Upon entering, I knew that this wouldn't be a massive and impersonal show.. For $25, brides were able to come to the event with a guest and to sample various foods, beverages and an extremely select group of vendors from entertainment, spa, makeup and more. The best part, this was extremely intimate! There weren't large groups of people the entryway of the theater (which at one time had actually housed various Broadway productions prior to their purchase of the Millenium Hotel next door) allowed everyone to check in, receive their goodie bag and to meet with the vendors. This space was illuminated with lighting and large mirrors. I know I began thinking about having an event here as the mood was definitely in place. As you walked into the theater, you were welcomed with tasty sweets on the right and on the left various meats and appetizers. Both sides had bartenders and of course there were passed beverages and drinks as well. I was very pleased to enjoy the champagne. The theater not only had tables set in various motifs that were created by James Abel Events (I love the amber inspired table), but there was seating for the fashion show and on the stage the band played. This was very soothing and kudos to the organizers to hold the event from 6:00 - 9:30. Although the fashion show didn't start until nearly 8:00, it was nice to come early and to have ample time to talk to the vendors while also recognizing that some brides would be unable to come until later.
Most of the attendees had a guest with them (kudos to the fiancees that appeared) although I felt bad for those that were alone as this was definitely an event to begin honing in on the decisions of your wedding while also enjoying the atmosphere. Mental note: these events are the best to go to and I would prefer to not go alone - friends and family beware!
I could go on and on about each vendor but I focused on certain areas but if you have a question, you can contact me and I can pass on what I know/heard. Jo Malone attended this event and as I have always been a fan and tend to walk by their Flatiron location, I was pleased to learn that they have an interesting way of offering their services. Obviously, they are available to have the bride and their party come to their location to enjoy their services and they are also able to travel as well. This is a great way to get pampered and to enjoy one another's time. But the most interesting element that I enjoyed was learning about their Fragrance Combining. This service is where the bride chooses a particular scent that will be worn for the wedding and then her bridesmaids will have various notes of this scent with other items layered in. In this way, the bride has a signature scent and her bridal party has elements of it while being different from hers. She doesn't have to worry about competing or offending scents as it is complimentary. I loved this concept and was so pleased that the two ladies attending this booth were so knowledgeable about this. Pampering and a signature scent - fabulous.
This event also had a great blend between traditional versus having your own element within your wedding. The band played traditional songs such as "Just the Way You Look Tonight", "Night & Day", "What's Going On", while also putting in a Stevie Wonder song that had elements of Will Smith in the song. They were not only playful and welcoming but they showed their range as we listened to the different songs and heard from the male and female singers respectively. This was enjoyable as we had Tuna Tartar, Spicy Shrimp and more.
Prior to the fashion show, I was able to see Tarte Cosmetics offerings, Cake Alchemy, Jerry Kravat Entertainment and more. Our hostess for the night who I thought was very warm and shared many of her experiences as she had recently been married, introduced the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. This couple did two dances (shown in the video) with a traditional dance and then one that was a salsa for the first dance. Once this was completed, we were treated to the Jenny Yoo Collection which had wedding gowns and then vibrant hues for bridesmaids dresses. These are definitely not the dresses that I have seen in Bridezilla epidsodes where the adventurous bride strives to find the most questionable dresses. These are beautiful gowns that you could use for other dressy occassions and that are very flattering whether you're looking for long, short, strapless, halter and more. Of course no fashion show of dresses would be complete without showing the super cute flower girl!
I left this event thinking that there are no shortage of events that "assist" brides and their friends and families with the options available to them. But when it is my turn, I want to attend events such as this that have a select group of vendors, a small number of attendees and then having a staff that caters to everyone so that you can feel special leading up to your day.
So you guys have heard me rave about Model Co! There is barely a day that goes by where I don't use the Illuminiser which creates a nice shimmer effect or the refresher which ensures that I have a great dewy look. Using both ensures that you have such a fresh scent that doesn't come off as something chemically created but as apart of your natural scent! Recently I received two items that I have found to be an absolute necessity - The Liquid Buds remind me of the Go Smile capsules that you can simply snap to move the liquid towards the much needed area. It's nice to have something compact that allows your lips to not only look amazing but to get nourishment as well. Another item that I just received but will not try until this weekend are the Heat Caps. Simply put, the directions state that by wetting your face and applying the mixture within the heat caps, it becomes self heating and opens your pores and cleanses. I love that this is good for all skin types and in each box, there are 4 one time use capsules. This is definitely a nice way to pamper your face and to prepare it before you go back to the grind. Finally, I am all about the Exfoliant Wipes. Who doesn't need a refresher whether you're leaving a meeting and heading somewhere else or you just want to make sure you smell absolutely irresistable. But even beyond smelling great, you're ensuring that your skin is the softest possible by taking off the dead cells. I love these and I think that it is a must to have and with that vibrant color, you're all set. The pop factor of the products is absolutely amazing. It's girly to look at and yet so effective. I feel that there are so many amazing things that I would like to give 3 items to readers under the condition that you share your feedback about these items. It's like your Kitten Lounge Testers! We have 2 Tan Airbrushes in a can and 1 package of Tan Self Tanning Gloves with 4 wipes! This giveaway will definitely get you introduced to the product while also sharing your thoughts with others. We will run this giveaway from now until next week and all you have to do is say why you think that this should work for you! We will then have a round up after the first week of use and then over the next couple of weeks to get more feedback from you! In addition, don't forget about the other giveaway that is taking place on Kitten Lounge as well.
I love hanging out at Sephora for about an hour or so to find new items and to also look at new collections. I may not buy the entire thing but I love seeing packaging and what everything does as well. Right now Too Faced has a collection known as California Glamin'. I love that it brings elements of the summer in with the tanning lotions (if you're interested) and also a bit of glimmer as well. I love the Lash Injection which I purchased last week during Fashion Week! For those days that I am out at an event, I love for my lashes to look extra thick so in this way I definitely bring out my inner glam diva!
In addition to this collection, I love that Sephora has also included Benefit's, Love Your Look Collection. I love the warm hues that are perfect for the fall. I have been a fan of Benefit since college so I always take time to check out their presence in the store or to the visit their website!
Finally, Vincent Longo's C_Scope Collection reminds me of Vitamin C with all of the pops in color. I think these hues are perfect when we hit those days of excessive rain or grey clouds due to the cold that settles in! Take some time to check out these collections and more at a Sephora store near you or at Sephora.com.
I made it through the first day. It was a lot of fun and nothing is better than jumping in with both feet and just going with the plan - you know that there isn't really one. I have to say that I was a little tired towards the end and all the running around was making us all a bit sweaty but it wasn't too bad - I had Lauren Conrad, Linea Pelle, Mistral Soaps and Nars Cosmetics to push me to the last bit of energy! Check out my parting words for the end of day one at New York Fashion Week!
It's nice to know that so many people are doing their part to ensure that we help save the Earth. With so many options, it's nice to see how creativity is being used within these areas. Today, I found out about Gypsy Style which creates bags that are made out of 100% plastic and they come in a variety of styles for an overnight or weekend trip, to carry your cosmetics and of course to carry your Yoga Mat! I think that this is a such a cute idea and love the pockets and the vibrant colors as well. I think that with so many people turning to this form of material, it's nice to know that you can support the Earth, positive health and of course your need to be eternally fashionable. Check out more pieces from this site to see what Gypsy Style you are!
There's something about having cosmetics that work for more than one thing and when it comes to Posie Tint, this is definitely one of those! This must have cosmetic is the newest addition to the tint line which works for lips and cheeks and creates a nice pink glow to your look. If you're a fan of Benetint which had more of a red stain and is still available, you will love this one as well. In addition, you will receive a booklet showing how this can be used and how fab you will look. Check out this and more from Benefit Cosmetics, which I have been a long time fan of since college!
The best thing about being apart of the Coutorture network is to see a variety of writers that talk about various areas in fashion and beauty. When I first started writing, my focus was purely accessories. I enjoy writing about all items that within this category on See Pretty Things. Of course after writing about this, I realized that I wanted to be able to bring in entertainment and style so I included that within this blog - The Kitten Lounge. This site has definitely stepped it up by adding additional elements and today I launch Beauty! I am really excited that going forward, Thursday will covers makeup and cosmetics. I want to share with you my favorite products and those that have just hit the market! Previously I have posted about this here and there but to have this as an ongoing selection makes me very happy!
With that being said I am including my 2nd favorite item that I love using. Those who know me know that I love my MAC Studio Fix powder. I love the coverage and how natural it is and whenever I am out and about, this is in my bag and knows that it is time to travel. Recently, I became a fan of as I have her baked products that include bronzer and eye shadow. As we transitioned from winter to spring and on to summer (and because I am never without my lip gloss or balm), I wanted to find a nice Lip Strip that would ensure that my lips would stay soft! This soft sugar scrub comes in a tiny cute container and can be massaged on the lip for about one minute. I love that there is a great peppermint taste if you happen to taste it by accident and upon first use, this $15 product is absolutely worth having! Available exclusively on Sephora.com - this is a must have no matter where you go. I use it about once a week after I have used my mask. It's a nice quick spa with great results.
Sorry for the tiny image but I am so excited about this new eyeshadow that I purchased at Sephora from NARS Cosmetics. I love that their new Spring 2008 Collection has amazing shades that add a bitter of shimmer. This shade is known as Night Clubbing - it is black mixed with gold pearls! Those who know me know that I am not a gold girl; however, I loved the shimmer that I received when I tried this on. Depending on what you fall in love with, you'll be ready for the clubs in no time whatsoever. The secret to the amazing and seductive portion of this collection is the fact that pearls of various colors are mixed in to give you that amazing look! Nothing is better than playing with your makeup and giving yourself a variety of looks. I am so falling in love with this line and can't wait to test it out in Las Vegas next month during Project, Lingerie Show and Magic!
