Denim is for more than just what you wear when you're out and about, it's a fabrication that's perfect for the home as well. I have some fabulous finds that I know are perfect for your living rooms and kitchen.
SHOE INSPIRATION
When I think of great casual style, I think of denim and today's inspiration comes from a great classic casual brand, Coach which has a heel that you'll love wearing with a number of outfits to add a twist to your Americana looks. Why relegate this fabric to just your outfits, continue to infuse it throughout the home.
GET THE DECOR LOOK
Infuse this hue throughout your space whether it's this color OR other arrays of color. Take some time to roll over the images to find out what I'm loving within this theme.
Yellow is a great hue and this vibrant tone is definitely one of Pantone's Spring 2013 hues that dominated the runway! I love that just by wearing this color, you have an extra spring in your step and as we continue to have longer days and warmer weather, why not shake up your wardrobe with some fun additions? This is the perfect look for the weekend, casual days in the office or of course when you're working from home. This definitely falls within my category of "nuvo glam" as it's an effortless style of dressing that can be worn to a number of places without having to change.
THE LOOK
Start out with this Rag and Bone tank top which has a nice flare to it paired with these Victoria Beckham denim leggings which have a slightly yellow hue. Keep it cozy with this striped yellow and white cardigan by Splendid.
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
Complete the look with fun accessories including these vibrant heeless shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti. Add a yellow sapphire by Jade Jagger which is the perfect cocktail ring. This gold plated and onyx necklace by Just Cavalli. Adorn your wrist with this fab Alexis Bittar cuff which is frosted with crystals. Finally, complete the look with this Marc by Marc Jacobs Q hobo bag.
Now I love jeans - especially the dark ones but I have bitten by my new love of rocking colored denim. This officially went live when I was on HSN this weekend and was wearing Citron colored denim! Now I'm thinking of going beyond this and into more hues! It's so fun and a nice way to spark pop into your outfit while also loving the joy that denim (stretch please) can give! Today's look is inspired by this new love! Loving the Enza Costa creates a number of angles that make this look fab.
Of course, we have to bring some fabtastic bling into this look with neutral tones! I love this set of 3 slim Urban Warrior bangles by my favorite python designer, Ted Rossi. My new obsession is Dara Ettinger with this Lori Three Bezel Cluster Sunset Ring which is a nice way to show off fabulously polished fingers! Sergio Rossi knows about rocking the heel in a fun way! I love mixing the black and white bangles with a python in the caramel hue thanks to these platform sandals. Finally, you have to carry your favorite possessions in a luxe way - check out Mulberry's Soft Travel Soft Matte Top Handle. The embellishments on this bag are fantastic as you can only have the best hardware on your bag to showcase your sense of style!
Our largest focus in terms of our wardrobe as we countdown to touching down in the Hamptons is a fab bikini and you can't go wrong with sunny yellow hues! I remember watching the always fabulously fun Brooke Burke-Charvet (picture credited to Startraks) on E!'s Wild On Series. Of course now, she is on Dancing With the Stars as well as being a CEO of Modern Mom. I have to say that she is rocking this fabulous yellow bikini while away on St. Bart's - if you're like me, I don't really get in the water so my accessories are everything. Here's how you can get this fabulous look.
I'm loving Heidi Klein's stunning yellow bikini which is the perfect item to pack on your getaway. Stack a seires of Amrita Singh's bangles on your arm as it's always fun to have extra bling on your arm. I love a fab pair of wedges and this denim set by Gianmarco Lorenzi is the perfect item to complete this and many more of spring and summer's finest! I believe there should never be a naked finger, this beyond eye missing Nak Armstrong. Finally, carry everything you need in this fun Will Leather Goods Small Classic Carry All!
There is nothing better then being able to rock the nautical look by embracing white and navy together! First off start off with a very simple white shirt dress that is comfort at its best thanks to Hache! Make this look classic with a bit of edge by pairing this with Giuseppe Zanotti Denim Peep Toe Pumps as well as their Silver Finish Cuff Bracelet. I'm loving this clutch by Marc by Marc Jacobs that is a straw navy striped bag. Lanvin's Short Petal Necklace adds a sweet element to this look. Finally, I love Emily Armenta's Blue Mother of Pearl Teardrop Ring on Double Craveli Band is the perfect cocktail ring to wear to complete this look.
What I love about this look is that it is super versatile whether you're working at the office, having a lunch with colleagues and continuing on for a night of drinks and dinner. These components are SO basic but together are chic and can be worn with a number of looks that will add classic elements to the overall look!
I hesitate to say it but in NYC, we've had one of the best winters ever! In many ways, we've been able to leave the house with a lighter jacket on and layers. Since it's almost mid March, we need to continue thinking Spring and rocking as many layers as possible! I'm all about taking super cute looks and keeping it easy. Pair this grey tank from Splendid with these super cute skinny jeans from Faith Connexion which has a great rinse and distressing on it. Top it off with Rachel Zoe's tailored leather jacket which is definitely a nod to menswear and will make you look ultra femme. To take this look for casual runs to the office and then to go out for drinks and beyond, I have fab accessories that you can layer in! First off, I'm DROOLING over Burberry Prorsum's rich plum clutch which I have been seeing in the windows currently and is always a head turner. Pair this look with these hinged bracelets (love mine) from Alexis Bittar to add in a pop of jewels and you can never go wrong with a cork heel. I'm loving this paisley brown toned shoe which is a great neutral fro Theodora & Callum. Finally, I love rocking fab rings on my hand and this one by Charriol has a nice texture and that casual bling which can go from day to night!
Fashion Week here in NY is a few days away and I have been immersed in Fashion Week coverage around the globe! It's only appropriate to highlight a fun show that took place during the 2012 Fall/2013 Winter Menswears shows earlier this month with Dean and Dan Stanton's line, Dsquared2! As we continue to bundle up, I loved seeing the line which rocked sexy suits which is always something that I can appreciate with classic and casual denim looks! I love that denim was accessorized with fun outerwear and amazing leathergoods (ladies this comes in handy as you can share a bag when going away on a weekend). Anytime Paul and I travel together, he loves when our items can fit in one bag which makes heading out easier! On the upper left hand corner Dean and Dan, the designers of this line, rock out a classic suit while their models hit the runway showcasing fabulous and flawless style!
When it comes to his style, it's ok to watch him stack on the accessories and to encourage him to continue building this portion of his closet. As I said earlier this week, it's all about the top 5's/. Guys love the simple half zip cardigan and you can never go wrong with this charcoal Polo Ralph Lauren classic and to pair it with All Saints' jeans. Everything else is a fabulous series of items that are also perfect for gifting!
I am all about the weekender bag which is great to run errands and to have as you travel throughout the holiday season. When it comes to a lush bag, you can't go wrong with this brown Gucci bag. One of my favorite jewelry designers, especially for men, is Konstantino. This necklace blends silver and gold together and I love the Pegasus in black which adds a richness and ties in the multi tones that can be worn together. Rock out more silver with David Yurman's chain bracelet. Slip on this watch by Ritmo Mundo which once again ties in our fab neutrals while popping in color and then finish the look with Tod's driver which I love in this shade and think this is a staple.
Today was definitely a crazy day and there were tons of pics but I will have to go back and get those to everyone! So it's my birthday today (hooray), I have a few shows and then I will be at Robert Verdi's doing the first of my 3 Meet and Greets for my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection. I have been hearing the buzz that has been coming through so it will be nice to be there in person. If you miss me today, you can see me on Tues (3-5) and then again on Thurs (2-5). So it's a busy week for sure. In addition, a huge shoutout to Natori who is dressing me all week!
Courtesy of Sennheiser, my sister and I headed over to the Style 360 lounge and attended the Marithe Francoise Girbaud Denim show for Spring/Summer 2012. Denim is a staple in most people's wardrobe and I loved that this show was simple. It was about great style, a classic tee/tank and once again a number of diverse models rocking the runway from the cutest little girls all the way to attractive looking adults. I truly enjoyed the footwear that the men had on during their struts (love that they did an innovative paint look on some of the guys and girls during portions of the show).
Don't think I'm rude if I walk by an amazing window display and have to take a moment to drool over the hidden treasures that are contained within or if I ask the cabbie to drive a block further just so I can see a display without having to have the cold interfere with my vision. That's what happens when you're always on the look out for amazing style. It's about telling a story about a great piece that was designed and how you transform it when you wear it and make it apart of your signature story. So last night after an amazing party at AhaLife and of course catching up on the Super Bowl, I was asked about what brands I liked. Well I could go on forever about the ones that are in my top 100. But the more important question could be, what are they making that I am loving right now and definitely want in my spring/summer wardrobe?
Overnight, I came up with 4 items that would be perfect in my wardrobe and that would be great staples. You can never go wrong when you introduce Roberto Cavalli to your closet. Instantly you emerge into a world of silky, sexy color that leaves you look amazing. This top can be paired with cute little shorts in the summer and over a pair of jeans. Don't get me started on his dresses which are absolutely amazing. It's a crime to leave your hand unattended and I have been a fan of the overall collection of Virgins, Saints and Angels - but their rings have always had a soft spot with me. I love the history that they represent and how it just adds a little something to the overall look. In addition, their line covers the very three themes that make up their name.
Yes I have talked about Christian Louboutin's for awhile now and when it comes to the top 3 pairs of shoes that I would wear with a number of outfits it included the black patent peep toe pump, a luscious blue hued python heel (originally seen in DR) and this denim knot pump. Anyone one of these three would be welcomed into my closet with arms outstretched! Finally, Carlos Falchi was my first interview back in 2004 when I started out with another blog so how can I pass up incorporating him into my collection? The east west bag is an amazing caramel color and is so roomy that there is no way that everything I need (from absolute to just in case) can't fit into that bag. This is a fab place to start and of course there are a number of items within these brands and of courses others outside of it as well. It's always good to know what you have your eye on when you're beginning to build or to reassess your wardrobe.
I'm such a believer in appropriate plaid and I love love the way that it looks! You always have to be dressed for brunch and although I think that people should step up their look when it comes to brunch. What I love about this look is that I love the footwear which is super casual and although the plaid is very typical, I love the pop underneath which is the Chuck Norris tee (hello they made him a Texas Ranger a few weeks ago). With New Years Eve days away, you have to think about where you are going to go for your first brunch date of the year which is the most important one of the year as it will set the tone for all your gossip fests as well as adoring words! This is a super cute look that will be perfect for 2011 - where are you guys heading off to?
So while I have been in and out, DJ Eloy has been DJing on a cruise for about a month and will then switch off to doing it some more during Japan Music Week next month in Tokyo! Now I think DJs definitely have a cool vibe and seeing that he is a fan of wearing the whole denim, sneakers and zippies - I thought of a look that I would love to see him rock on his next gig! I definitely think that he would approve. I'm a huge fan of Adidas and he loves Star Wars so this Wookiees jacket is super comfortable and yet very him, thrown over a simple grey tee - he's ready to go! Converse has a fun line of Jimi Hendrix shoes and I love the pair above - I don't think that I have ever seen him in Converse but I do believe that it's something that he could rock (even if it's only to go to 2nd Ave Deli - his fave spot) and of course, pair it all with fab jeans! Follow DJ Eloy on his site or on his Facebook page.
I don't have power suits. You know what I'm talking about, the suits of the 80's with large shoulder pads, pencil skirts, severe lines, etc! Think such dramas as Dynasty, Hotel or movies such as Baby Boom (I love all of these by the way). A power suit now means something that gets you ready for "game time" whether it's asking for a promotion, going into your review or doing something for your business. It's the look that when you put it on, it gives you that last push - it's your secret weapon! For me, I'm a denim girl, you can never have too much denim and it can be brought into various areas depending on how it's paired. I love an oxford shirt whether it's plain or striped (I love Abercrombie & Fitch or Victoria's Secret), a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of heels (I love wearing Jimmy Choo) and a large ring! Accessories are my signature and besides the ring, you know I would pair a cuff (I love python by Ted Rossi) and a super cute bag! Wearing this makes me feel like I have that "home field advantage" while being professional (at the same time, once I'm done, I can have that congratulatory lunch or dinner). If you have something that you love, make sure to get more of those items as this year, you're going to need them!
My favorite look when I’m running around is a tank/tee and jeans – now that I’m obsessed with leggings, you can add that to my core look. When it starts to get chilly, you’re bound to see me in a scarf or a cute wrap of some sort. Of course, I’m never without my accessories as I think you can never really have too many and as much as I like to embrace color – I truly love mixing black, grey and denim. So today’s look brings in the sequin top (I used to be very against sequins and look at me it’s a tank - love the racer back tank and a beret which I’m all about). The wrap is amazing I love the fact that you can have something to know the chill off, that it’s angled and it flows. The leggings have a denim look so that’s the best of both worlds and a dream to travel in.
The other day, I shot a video for Chicology and we went to Fenton & Fallon and I fell in love with their mixed media jewelry so I definitely love popping in this edgy look with this femme look. The onyx ring is large and bold – you know I love this and I have to say that the shoes are absolutely fab! The cuff works well and you can never go wrong with a bootie. Whenever you opt to take off the wrap, you have this great chunky/layered cuff which really elongates the arm. Day to night your set and looking super glam!
There are certain times during the year that I absolutely love to be in the midst of shopping mania! One of them is when Lucky Magazine holds its Lucky Shops event! I love going and checking out a variety of items that are greatly reduced while enjoying some cocktails. Each fall that I have attended, the deals have been better and I have walked away with some great finds and awesome goodies to go with it (I am still giddy about my Tory Burch bag and the most amazing CK seamless panties - TMI I know but I love them so it's ok). This year, Lucky Shops will be at the Metropolitan Pavilion on November 7th and 8th. This year the denim bar is back thanks to Lycra and of course Singer will be there for complimentary hemming. Lucky's "The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Look" will be available for purchase and I love that Benefit will have a Brow Bar. With so many giveaways available and more, you'll want to get your tickets to be apart of this. In addition, the lovelies at Lucky Shops want to give you a little love so we have a giveaway for the coveted goodie bag! One of you will win this bag stuffed to the brim with goodies by visiting the site and providing comments here on the following question: Tell me why you like Lucky Shops and what you hope to get while there from the vendors that will be attending this shopping event. Those with the correct answer will be randomly drawn. Winners will be announced on Oct 24th! If you're going let me know and I'm sure I will see you there!
I can't believe that we are already in Oct - how and where did the year go? I can't even think about the holidays this second so until then, let's continue to pamper ourselves in any way that we can. This week we have a giveaway that should be a lot of fun! PZI Jeans is known as the jean for the confident woman with curves. This denim brand carries the sizes 4 - 16 and has an inseam for 31", 34" 26" and 38". If you're looking to find your perfect denim, this could be it. Make sure that you check out this site and for this giveaway, we are giving away 1 pair of jeans and you will also receive a $50 gift certificate for the Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club which brings the French Riviera to the Upper East Side. This giveaway will run for a week and let us know what is your favorite feature from your favorite pair of jeans. I know that my favorite pair always looks great when I'm wearing them with heels or with cute little sneakers.
I am starting to embrace a type of accessory that has been very foreign in my closet! Although I liked looking at pearls, I never thought it would be something that I would wear. This all changed when Moon River Pearls reached out to me! Who knew that pearls could transcend so many styles and provide so many looks? I love layering my pieces with chokers or other bangles. The pearls that are shown below are full of color and go from Little Black Dress to an extremely casual outfit with jeans and there is absolutely no granny factor here! Visit the site and although there are the traditional pearls, I love that they have great looks that are outside of the box - you'll never look at pearls the same way again!
My earliest memory of eyelet was when I was little. I had it in my crib and the growing up, I had it as a bedskirt. I was always fascinated with the delicate lace like fabric with the "little holes" as I used to say. I always associated this fabric with bedding coming in cream and white. But as I grew up, I realized that eyelet didn't have to be confined to just bedding and that it could be made to look very sassy while still being forward and sweet. Here are great looks that include eyelet with pops of color (who doesn't love yellow or blue). I also love that it is totally perfect for bed time. Eyelet is perfect to wear to a garden party or Hamptons event (once again the pop of color is noticed). Then again, it can be paired with jeans for a fun night out on the town! For a look that is perfect for pool side or a party by one, try the yellow tunic dress or even the blue top with a cute pair of leggings! Ah the versatility - something for everyone
I love wearing cute scarves like this during the summer with a pair of jeans a cute tank! I think it's such an easy look and is amazing with flip flops and sunglasses as well. This is something that you will love taking with you to dinner, fashion shows, galleries and so many more places - you'll find that you'll always reach out for this no matter where you go. It is the best summer accessory without a doubt. With so many options, this TDM Design scarf is definitely something that should be in your collection and is available in so many colors on ShopBop.com! Take some time to check out this bohemian look in addition to many others that are available!
This weekend I am going to a wedding. I love weddings! I love seeing what the guests wear, what the bride chose and everything that goes along with it. It makes you think about your own - even if it is just for a second and you know that it is a long time away. I have always been a fan of strapless gowns and I'm always torn by what the bottom portion would look like. I can only imagine what it would be like to find a dress - I can't even decide on what shoes I absolutely love to wear with my jeans!
Anyway, Coutorture has one of my favorite designers who does bridal wear - Carolina Herrera and the shoot is amazing and is definitely like a living fairy tale. This dress is definitely something that I will love and if you're in the market or know someone who is, you may want to let them know that they can see all this and more at Coutorture!
I love the idea of presenting so many "citrus" oriented items to all of you. This citrus is more of an ode to grapefruit but is definitely something that I think is super cute with many of the flirty tops and dresses that we will be wearing as we head towards summer. These little leather clutches by Rebecca Norman are hand sewn and have this beautiful agate embellishment on each piece. If this pinkish/brown agate is not you, there are other embellishments that you will enjoy. I love this sense of natural bling and feel that this will look amazing with many of your denim looks and super cute heels. Check out more pieces from this designer to see what else you can expand within your closet!
