Sippin Saturdays: Halston Creates a Moving Video

Fashion Week started yesterday and with today being Valentine's Day - it's all about the love! Although I love the official collection of designers that show at the tents, I am also a fan of those that are offsite or are apart of additional presentations. As many of you are aware, many designers pulled out of the tents in an effort to have a smaller affair. I love that Halston decided to do an interesting interpretation of the runway showing the full movement of his clothes. I definitely think that innovation is going to be what sets designers apart this season and into the next ones. Enjoy the video and the journey of the model as she passes various designs from his collection.

Treasure Tuesdays: Ilori Knows How to Showcase Sunglasses

I love visiting boutiques that really know how to showcase items. Many times when I shop, I know what I want and without a need for a dramatic display - I go in and get what I want. But there are times that you are out and about and you know that there is something of interest that you could get and it's simply a matter of what tickles your fancy at the moment. Right now, I am looking for sunglasses that have a lot of pop to them and yet I am completely open to what I could purchase. Hearing about Ilori, a store made for those that want to be in the lap of luxury when it comes to sunglasses, I had to share!

Ilori loves to bring your favorite brands, first editions, exclusives and more together. I know when I am ready to get a pair of Oliver People's there are a number of Ilori boutiques available for me to stop in at. In addition, on the occassions when you want something new but are open to the possibilities, you can enjoy relaxing in a chair or peruse the wall of all the styles that they are carrying. One of the things that I loved most about Sex and the City is that it had fabulous outfits that dazzled you. From the simplistic looks to those that were for a massive night out, there was always something that you wanted to keep in your closet. Yes, Sex and the City was an end of and era of amazing fashions (I suppose people thought the same thing with Dynasty and other shows such as that). Fortunately, I have picked up such shows as Lipstick Jungle to enjoy the super cute looks but I do believe that I have acquired another find - USA Network's the Starter Wife whose 2 hour premier wil launch tonight!

Debra Messing stars in The Starter Wife; however, much like Patricia Field was a dynamic element to the show, Agata Maskiewics is the same for this show! I can't wait to see all the looks (some which are including within the gallery of this post) and make sure to tune into USA at 9pm EST for the 2 hour premier and to see whether you loved seeing Carrie's east coast looks or those that Molly (Debra's character) will wear as a lady of Hollywood. Below is a snippet of the interview with Agata Maskiewics, costume designer for this series. Being a costume designer must be a fun job! How did you get your start?

I started working in the film & TV industry after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where I studied fashion design. I started as an intern on a feature film and worked my way up holding various positions in the costume department.

How is styling a celebrity different from styling a character in film or television?

While I don’t particularly style celebrities, I feel that the main difference is that when designing a character the job is to transform an actor into the character they are portraying. Often times the costumes can really help an actor make the transition into the character they are set to play. Also, sometimes the costumes are not meant to be flattering; depending on the character, the goal isn’t always to make them look beautiful. But when styling a celebrity, it’s all about having them look amazing.

What role does fashion play in The Starter Wife?

Fashion is almost like another character in The Starter Wife. So much of the personality of the actors comes through in the clothing they wear. Our goal is to have the audience as excited about the fashions as they are the characters. We want the people at home to feel as though they can hear the ruffle of Molly’s Zac Posen silk dress and smell the exquisite leather of her Manolos. We want them to daydream about getting into Molly’s closet and have the opportunity to dress from it everyday as she does. And yes, the closet is huge, since as a Hollywood woman, she never repeats an outfit!

Wearable Wednesday: Oscar De La Renta - Accessory Inclusive

I love a lot of the runway shows that have emerged with that fab summer theme and of course, my eye is always on the accessoires portion. Currently, Coutorture has posted Oscar De La Renta's amazing cruise collection and as much as I loved so much that I saw, I couldn't take my eye off of this fabulous bag. Not only is it roomy and has a great handle but I love love the texture on this bag. It's so easy and luxurious at the same time! You can definitely slip your laptop on this bag and a slim line notepad as well along with who knows what else you're prone to carry at a moments notice! Take a moment to visit both galleries on Coutorture - the accessories collection and then the line in total! Once again, when you can't get to the runways or had no idea there was a show, it's nice to know that from the convenience of your home you can see everything!

sure of what to wear or how to wear it, these looks can be very inspiring! I love that the scarf shown here is made by TDM Design (they were apart of the posts that I had yesterday). What I love most, is that these images incorporate so many items that you're bound to have something in your closet that can be used to be apart of this look. Once you see how much fun mixing and matching is - you'll be able to create your own looks as well! In addition, it's always fun to go through your own closet and then to work certain looks. You can then take your own pictures as you begin to create your own look book. This will help you find what you like, what you think your missing and is always a lot of fun as well.

Wearable Wednesdays: I Love Thurley

During Australia Fashion Week, a variety of designers hit the runways with amazing looks and models to complete the image of course. I have to say that I love this collection although I have never seen Thurley before! I love this dress since it is a very simple cut and then has great pop factor with the beautiful design that is on the front of the dress. Sippin Saturdays: THINK CITRUS ~ How Do You Take Your Tea

I love cats and when it comes to big cats, I love them too. This post ties in a lot of different items together! First off, the Coffee and Tea Festival is only days away and will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion! I love that this is going to be a great event that will have the best in coffee, tea and cocoa. Not only can you enjoy warm or chilled beverages, you can also get great products for your drinks. Today's Sippin' Saturday includes this beautiful teapot from Cardew Design, Inc. I love the vibrant orange colors (obviously I am tying this into our THINK CITRUS theme for this month as well) and think that this is really cute and I love the lid with the tiger cub on the top. Definitely visit the site to see a lot more of the interesting canisters, mugs, coasters and tea pots! Of course if you're in NYC, you definitely need to attend the show!
