When it gets super chilly, I'm not a fan of cold weather; however, I love outerwear for a few reasons. I love coats - if it has to be chilly then it's fun to wear them. Then there are times that you're running around all day and as opposed to your coat being a secondary, it's definitely a primary. The reality is that when you're running from place to place and shopping, you're coat becomes an essential. Recently, I found out about a line that is new to me, Mackage which makes coats for men (my boyfriend is obsessed with Bruce) and women. I love that this a-line coat has a cute neck embellishment. This would be perfect for me to run around to in showrooms, shopping and events. So to that end, it's essential that these looks become accessorized complete with over the knee booths (this is a must when I'm out and about and sometimes it's nice to have a flat boot as opposed to heels). Boots add a bit of an edge look but also a little Paris chic as well. The fingerless gloves are a nice way to add a bit of a rocker chic but when paired with the coat and shoes it's a look that looks like it was super easy to put together and effortless. Finally, it's all about the bag! I'm all about wearing dark colors in the winter but there has to be something which has a pop of color whether it's a scarf or a bag and to me, the bag is essential. This red croc bag is the perfect way to standout and to beat the blahs and greys that can take place once we've been in this weather pattern for too long.
One of the things that I love most about my look is that I like to blend a lot of styles that may not seem to work and yet they do! I am all about a retro/vintage look - so I'm always interested in whatever Anthropologie happens to carry at the moment (at one time being a manager at the Rockefeller Center came in handy seeing the ever changing collection. I love that this top has a lot of embellishment and is super simple to pair over jeans or leggings. Of course, it's essential to have a great pair of Hudson Jeans. What I love about this pair is that they have a black coating which has a bit of a rocker look which makes your outfit go to the next level in terms of an edgy look.
Now with this retro top paired with the rocker chic pants, accessories are called for to take this look a head turning presentation. I love python and this gorgeous bag from CC Skye is a huge bag and one that is definitely classic. With the gold embellishments on the bag, you'll want to have a piece by Victoria Tillotson who is not only a fab jewelry designer but a teacher at the School of Visual Arts here in NYC. Not only would I love to wear this cuff but it says a lot as I typically love wearing sterling silver as opposed to gold. Finally to complete this look, I love the heels by Jessica Simpson which have a great retro femme effect. I feel that python is the perfect way to add a classic element to a look while making it pop and together all of this works well whether you're going out for drinks, meeting with investors, doing a run through of a show and more! At any given time someone is strutting on the runway wearing something fabulous and during this portion of Australian Fashion Week, Leonard Salinas' collection hit the catwalk with amazing pops of color that you can definitely see in this shot. First off, I love his silhouettes and he definitely knows how to show some of our best parts - it's nice to bring back that old elegance and to mix it up with interesting embellishment and also amazing rich hues! This is not for the faint at heart.
Now I have to say, that this beautiful grey/silver piece caught my eye since it is one of my favorite colors to wear and I loved the detailing on the neck as well. I wasn't sure if it was something that I would personally wear but I think that this shapes the body well and would be amazing to wear to an opening at a gallery, a cocktail event launching a book that just hit the New York Times or any other occassion that calls upon us to step it up when it comes to our attire. But I think the magic in this piece comes when this model gives us another view.
The back of this dress took me off guard completely and instantly this become a piece that I want in my collection ASAP. I love that this simple look completely makes this dress go from safe to daring and yet your inner Audrey never has to wonder if this is appropriate to wear to the functions mentioned above. This dress is perfect to pair with a necklace that is intended to be worn down your back and of course you hair down is perfect but having it in a messy updo of sorts wouldn't be a bad idea. If you love this piece and the peeks that you can see in the background, see more from this show and others on Coutorture!
